02:20issue in the negotiations. India currently imposes import duties of
02:25up to 110% on foreign made cars, especially in the pre
02:30premium segment. Under the new agreement, tariffs on European manufactured
02:35vehicles are expected to fall to around 40%. That shift dramatically
02:40changes the economics of selling European cars in India.
02:45For Indian consumers, especially in the premium and electric vehicle space, the
02:50impact could be significant. European brands like BMW, Mercedes
02:55Audi, Volvo and Volkswagen will be able to price vehicles more
03:00competitively. Luxury electric vehicles such as the BMW iX
03:05Mercedes EQS and Audi Q8 e-tron stand to benefit
03:10the most. At the same time, India has protected domestic mass
03:15market manufacturers, keeping budget EVs largely insulated from direct
03:20competition. Europe's gains go beyond cars. The EU will
03:25receive improved access to one of the world's fastest growing consumer
03:29markets.
03:30While India lowers tariffs on select European goods, including wines,
03:35and industrial products. In return, Indian exports, textiles,
03:40garments, jewelry, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electronics will enjoy
03:45wider and more predictable access to European markets. Sensitive farms
03:50and dairy sectors have been excluded to protect Indian farmers.
03:55Today, India exports nearly 76 billion dollars worth of goods to the EU
04:00EU. Refined petroleum products lead the list, followed by electronics
04:05in the US.
04:06This is a country where smartphones account for over
04:074 billion dollars, underscoring India's
04:10price as a global electronics assembly hub. These sectors already face
04:15low tariffs, meaning the FTA's biggest gains will come from manufacturing
04:20scale.

04:27When India's purpose and economic debt
04:29are up are concentrated in high-tech and capital intensive sectors, machine
04:30aircraft medical devices electronics components and specialized
04:35medicines formed the backbone of EU exports to India these
04:40inputs are critical for India's infrastructure build-out electronics ecosystem
04:45health care system and clean energy ambitions
04:48areas where domestic production
04:50alone cannot yet meet demand
04:55India has also
05:00pushed back against EU carbon related trade barriers particularly levees
05:05affecting steel aluminum and cement the FTA is expected to help
05:10offset some of these pressures by offering alternative competitiveness pathways
05:15as Europe tightens climate linked regulations
05:18officials see the deal as
05:20a tool to balance sustainability goals with economic growth
05:25I think this is the best culmination of India trade deal with the
05:30European Union have achieved especially after so many years of
05:35discussion between the two sides since 2007 and that stopped it and they
05:40started in 2022 and I believe this is going to be a beneficial for
05:45the side especially at the time when India is celebrating its 77th
05:49Republic
05:50day and I this not only will put an India in the forefront as an
05:55emerging power but also it will help India in gaining mileage with the
06:00nation with the European Union in a political issue especially in the international arena
06:04I think that
06:05that's the the she's rightly saying it because actually what's happening for the European
06:09Union after
06:10the president Trump have already put all this tariff and threatening the Greenland
06:14Act
06:15annexations and also threatening the European countries and I mean openly
06:20it is a clear indication that European Union is very much keen and searching for
06:25for on a market which is could be an India as the ultimate for them like 1.4
06:30or 5 billion people's are here you are having it's the second largest mark
06:35market and the world and for them it is also an advantage for India that they will
06:40be less relying on also in China
06:45the deal is finalized but not yet active the text will undergo legal review
06:50over the next five to six months followed by formal signing and ratification
06:55approval by the European Parliament will be required before implementation
07:00this agreement could redefine India Europe economic ties for decades
07:05just as global trade enters a far more uncertain era
