00:00Discovering your credit card won't work can be a major inconvenience.
00:04It can happen for several reasons.
00:06You may have reached your credit limit, the issuing bank may be worried about fraud,
00:10or you may have incorrectly entered a zip code or other card information.
00:14But don't stress, according to Christy Kim, CEO and founder of lender Tomo Credit,
00:19having your credit card denied isn't something to be embarrassed or ashamed about.
00:23It happens to the best of us.
00:24Bankrate says some common reasons a credit card may be declined
00:28include hitting your credit limit, triggering fraud protection,
00:31traveling internationally without notifying the bank,
00:34falling behind on payments, entering incorrect information, or using an expired card.
00:39To avoid these issues, monitor your account closely,
00:42know your card's expiration date,
00:43and notify your credit card company of international travel plans.
00:47As Melinda Opperman from Credit.org suggests,
00:50signing up for automated reminders and alerts can help prevent your card from being declined.
