00:00An injured jaguar was rescued by the Brazilian authorities after spending eight hours in the
00:04Amazon River. After they got him out of the water, they were able to find 30 lead pellets in his head,
00:12which sadly means that someone tried to hurt him on purpose. However, thanks to the efforts of the
00:16Brazilian authorities, he's currently being treated and he's expected to be released back in nature
00:20once his wounds are healed. Jaguars are actually avid swimmers and they can cross any river with
00:26ease, even hunt in the river. However, in this situation, the help was crucial to ensure his
00:31revival. It is important to understand that this rescue is more than a dramatic moment. It's a
00:36lifeline for species under pressure. According to a study published by Magbae in the Brazilian Amazon
00:46and adjacent areas, about 300 jaguars are either killed or forced out of their habitat every year.
00:52But luckily, this is a great improvement from the 15,000 that were hunted decades ago before there
01:00were any laws that protected them. This rescue reminds us that compassion in action can make
01:14a crucial difference for a whole species.
