00:00By the time rescuers reached this great horned owl, every second mattered.
00:04This great horned owl was trapped in a soccer net.
00:07And every time he tried to escape, he got even more tangled.
00:11Thankfully, someone walking their dog spotted him and immediately called Sweet Briar Nature
00:16Center for help.
00:18Got to cover his eyes first so he can't see me.
00:21Oh, great.
00:23He's too much.
00:25See those?
00:26See the talons?
00:27Yeah.
00:27Damn.
00:31They carefully began cutting away the net piece by piece.
00:34And with those giant talons right there, they definitely had to take their time.
00:38One of these two.
00:41Good.
00:45Want to make sure I got everything?
00:47I think so.
00:49Can I keep that?
00:50Yep.
00:51So you can't see me.
00:52Yes.
00:52Yes.
00:53But just when they thought they'd gotten it all, they noticed there was still more wrapped
00:57around his neck and wings.
00:58Yes.
00:59You want me to like just start cutting here?
01:01Cut.
01:01Cut.
01:01Yeah.
01:02Cut right here.
01:03Yeah.
01:06I'm trying to see where that's going.
01:07It runs back.
01:08I can uncover him a little bit?
01:10Yeah.
01:12Hi, baby.
01:12Hi, buddy.
01:15Hi.
01:15We're just trying to rescue you.
01:17I'm so sleepy.
01:20You feel it in there?
01:21Yeah.
01:22All right.
01:22He's wrapped.
01:23So it goes all the way around his neck.
01:25It's in his neck.
01:32Hey, handsome.
01:33You're so beautiful.
01:34You are.
01:36Where's that one going?
01:38Let's go towards the back here.
01:46Do you think I got it?
01:48I think so.
01:49I think you...
01:50Is it going to have you cover his face again so he doesn't freak?
01:54Yes.
01:54So I can get him in there?
01:55Yes.
01:56Yes.
01:56Yes.
01:58All right.
01:58Let's get you checked out.
01:59And then hopefully get back as soon as possible.
02:02Once every last piece was finally removed, they brought him back to the wildlife center
02:06for a checkup.
02:07Oh.
02:10It's not thin.
02:11They look good on the lines.
02:13It had a little bit of damage on its talon, but I think it would be okay.
02:17It's a little wobbly.
02:22We'll get him outside.
02:24The team kept him overnight just to be safe.
02:26The very next day, he was on his way home.
02:29As soon as they opened his carrier, he took off back to the wild like nothing had ever happened.
02:40Thanks to one observant dog walker and a very careful rescue team,
02:44this beautiful owl was right back when he belonged.
02:48There he is.
02:48There he is.
02:49There he is.
02:53Wow.
