00:00Currently, the fire is under a westerly influence, so those northerly winds are shifting around
00:07firstly to the west, and then we'll see a southwesterly change in a couple of hours'
00:12time.
00:12So at the moment, that fire is being pushed more towards the Jellybrand Road, so it is
00:18travelling in an easterly direction.
00:20But we do expect that will change.
00:22Fires like this will produce ember showers, and we are expecting ember showers, which,
00:26as we know, can create more fires in front of the main fire front.
00:31So we are reviewing the situation very carefully.
00:34We will be updating the warnings to reflect the current situation on the fire ground, and
00:40residents in and around the Otways need to really be watching that Vic Emergency app and
00:45listening to their emergency broadcast this afternoon.
00:47And Jason Heffernan, you've got two other blazers in the east, which are quite large.
00:52Are you expecting these strong winds are going to hit those blazers as well, or the winds
00:58may be a little weaker?
01:02It still remains to be seen.
01:04We're watching it very closely.
01:06I just had a conversation with the Bureau just before.
01:09I am hoping that that frontal system will weaken a little bit as it moves across the state,
01:14which could mean less wind strength on the change.
01:17But at the moment, we need to plan for the worst and hope for the best.
01:21So we are watching very closely the Wanagata fire there in the Dargo region, and also the
01:26Walwa fire, which won't get this change till very early in the hours to mid-morning tomorrow.
01:33So they're going to still have hot norvally winds for quite some time before that south-westerly
01:38push comes through.
01:39So that's one obviously we need to watch overnight, but also pay close attention to tomorrow.
01:45And as you said into your intro there, that part of the state is going to have up to eight
01:50days of over 40 degree temperatures.
01:52So that's one that we're going to be keeping an eye on for quite some time.
