00:00Is?
00:02Are you okay?
00:04Guys, she's going down.
00:08Hi, I'm Jason.
00:09I'm Brian.
00:10And welcome back to Workroom Weekly.
00:12Whoa, that starting off strong.
00:15There was a lot that happened in this episode,
00:17but what we just showed was Briar Blush fully dropping it
00:21on the main stage.
00:22She's crashing out, she's fainting.
00:24I was looking for my fainting couch.
00:26I was like a Victorian, you know, housewife.
00:28I was like, ah, where's my chaise?
00:30Yeah, and her fainting couch was in the form
00:32of Juicy Love Dion catching her fall.
00:35We will get into that later.
00:37There was a lot that happened in this episode.
00:39I mean, even off the top, I mean,
00:40this was following Mandy Mango's elimination.
00:43So sad, RIP to the Mango.
00:46But we come back from this
00:48and the girls are immediately getting into it.
00:50And I'm living for it because sometimes these, you know,
00:53after main stage debriefs can be a little boring,
00:56but Mia and Briar specifically were really going into it.
01:00And it was about stuff that was happening
01:02off the clock, off camera.
01:04There was some button pushing,
01:06some stirring happening allegedly on Briar's part
01:11and she was getting called out.
01:12Yeah, it was interesting
01:14because they kind of referenced it a little bit
01:16in last week's Untucked.
01:17And a lot of people were like, we didn't even see this.
01:19Like, where was this happening?
01:20So they, like you said, they did kind of backtrack,
01:22show the unseen footage.
01:24I thought it was kind of interesting, you know,
01:26then they kind of rope in Athena
01:27because I guess she was also in the discourse.
01:30So she was making some, you know,
01:31catty remark about Athena and Juicy being like, you know,
01:36how come your drag daughter's not defending you?
01:39And, which is rude as hell.
01:41Yeah.
01:42And it's like, but then she can't take a little,
01:44a little poking of the bear either.
01:45So, you know.
01:47Yeah, I don't know.
01:48I really loved seeing this, like, no side of Mia.
01:51I mean, she was really like, I haven't woken it up yet
01:54on this season, but I will.
01:56And I know Mia can definitely, you know,
01:58you don't want to go up a fight against her.
02:00So I think, you know.
02:01Yeah, Mia's a professional dancer.
02:03Yeah.
02:04She will roundhouse kick you.
02:05She'll clock you.
02:06Yeah.
02:07So I really loved this off the top.
02:09And, you know, it kind of sets the stage
02:11for the rest of the episode, which we'll get into.
02:14But after this, so we go immediately into the Maxi Challenge
02:18for this week, which is really fun.
02:20I love this.
02:21The girls are asked to pair up with their besties.
02:23And then from there, the girls have to design original looks
02:27inspired by two iconic red carpet moments.
02:31And then not just that, then the girls are going to be
02:34compared against each other and decide who wore it best.
02:39This was a really fun challenge.
02:41I mean, we're week four, and this is the second design challenge.
02:45Yeah.
02:45This is intense.
02:46Luckily, no unconventional materials.
02:48They were quite gracious with giving them, you know, things that work.
02:52They went to Mood Fabrics and got tons of stuff, which is great.
02:55And these red carpet looks were so amazing.
02:58So much fun.
02:59I think we definitely have to run through these just so we can set the stage
03:02on what the vibe was going into this.
03:05So we had Juicy and Briar first, who were given Lil Nas X at the 2020 Grammys, that iconic pink leather look,
03:13and Rihanna at the 2015 Met Gala, that iconic Wopay yellow egg yolk dress.
03:19And these were randomly chosen, but I thought those colors are going to go well together.
03:23Yes. And then next we had Discord and Jane.
03:26They were giving Cher's iconic look at the 1986 Oscars.
03:30Bob Mackie, baby.
03:31Obviously. And Sarah Paulson at the Ocean's 8 premiere.
03:34I thought this was a little random, but a cool dress.
03:37Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the color, this was a bit of a curve ball, but you know, we got to get some lesbian representation up in there.
03:43Absolutely. And I love in this, Rue does the Discord walk. He fully does the Discord walk right across the workroom.
03:51So we're still carrying that on.
03:52At a 45 degree angle.
03:53Yes. Yes. And then we had Mikey and NeNe.
03:56They were given J Lo's 2000s Grammys Versace dress.
04:00I mean, back when she had a big butt, it was like, oh, we didn't realize how big the butts would get.
04:05Yeah. And then Nicki Minaj at the 2011 Grammys.
04:09You know, one of these cheetah print classic Nikki Roman Revenge era looks very fun.
04:16And those look already smart together, jungle and animal theme.
04:20And it's like these they're randomly picked, but they're starting to kind of work.
04:24Yeah. It's a lot of prints happening, but it was interesting to see how some of them interpreted them, which was fun.
04:30And then next we had Sierra and Kenya.
04:32They were given Lady Gaga's 2010 VMA's meat dress.
04:36Iconic. Come on.
04:37And then Britney and Justin at the 2001 AMA's, the denim on denim.
04:42Double denim.
04:42Duh. Come on.
04:43Ugh.
04:44Literally iconic.
04:45And then we had Mia and Vita.
04:48They were given Katy Perry at the 2019 Met Gala, her chandelier camp look, I believe this was.
04:53Yeah.
04:53I mean, I hated that look, but it was a good challenge.
04:55It's definitely recognizable.
04:57Mm-hmm.
04:58And then Lil' Kim at the 1999 VMA's.
05:02I mean, the nipple.
05:04Yeah.
05:04The breast.
05:05The moment Diana Ross goes, boop, boop.
05:07Yeah.
05:07Yeah.
05:07Just gives a little boop, boop.
05:09Yeah.
05:10When I see that shade of purple, I immediately think that look.
05:12It's just, you know, one for the ages.
05:15And then last but not least, we had Darlene and Athena given Kim Kardashian at the 2013 Met Gala.
05:21This was Kim's first ever Met Gala.
05:22She was Kanye West plus one.
05:24Wasn't even Kim Kardashian at that point.
05:26And she was dressed as grandma's couch in this dress.
05:29And she was pregnant.
05:30Yes.
05:31Yes.
05:31Carrying, carrying.
05:33And then Zendaya at the Dune 2 premiere.
05:36This iconic Mugler look, I mean.
05:39Which since that moment, you know, we've watched a lot of Drag Race on Workroom Weekly.
05:44That look has been ripped off in a hundred different ways.
05:48Yeah.
05:48I mean, it is.
05:50I think it's like La Roche's piece de resistance when it comes to his styling for Zendaya.
05:55And that was the last look picked.
05:56So when they flipped that around, I was like, oh, that's going to be a doozy to have to do.
06:02So the girls, like I said, are going to have to take these looks and take elements from both and
06:08do a design challenge.
06:09And compete against the person they were tricked into being like, who's your bestie?
06:13Now fight.
06:14Yeah.
06:14So it's kind of hard because you kind of don't want to be pinned up against a designer.
06:19You know, you've got people like Discord and Jane, who are both really strong designers.
06:24And Vita.
06:24Yeah.
06:25And Vita, you know.
06:26And then you've got people like Juicy and Briar, who are a little bit more challenge.
06:31So, you know, I think they, you know, challenge when it comes to the sewing needle.
06:35The euphemism of the year.
06:36They're challenged.
06:37So, you know, I think it was interesting because there was definitely pairings where
06:41there was a clear designer and then there was some where, you know, there definitely wasn't
06:45or there was two.
06:47So that made for really cool looks.
06:48Also, I loved that like Vita mentioned, she like, I mean, we know Vita was a designer,
06:52but like she makes celebrity looks, like cosplay looks.
06:55It was cool.
06:56Like, oh my gosh, she's just like the moment when it comes to the sewing needle.
07:00Oh my God.
07:00I'm obsessed.
07:01Um, so then during the workroom, we see that Briar is starting to get emotional with Juicy.
07:09She had shared, you know, she was feeling a little down after critiques, the lip sync.
07:13And then she talks about, you know, coming back to the workroom and being told that,
07:17you know, someone thought that I shouldn't have been here over the other person.
07:20Referencing Mia saying that Mandy should have stayed.
07:23Um, I don't know.
07:24How did you feel about like this interaction?
07:26Yeah, you know, I feel like we're watching Briar
07:30crashing out.
07:31Yeah.
07:31She's crying.
07:32She's like, I mean, you did lip sync for your life and you, I thought they were pretty evenly matched.
07:38You know, it just happened to be that Mandy Mango was in the bottom, uh, three weeks in a row.
07:44I think that would hurt her, you know?
07:45But I think, yeah, she's feeling the, uh, she's feeling the pressure.
07:49Yeah.
07:50And then even before we get to the main stage, Briar and Mia actually like kind of reconcile
07:55with each other and they share, is there like emotional moments?
07:58Like, you know, Briar talked about like her home life, how she'd ever really felt supported by
08:02her family, leaving the house at 16.
08:04That's rough.
08:04And then Mia talks about her own personal life and how she lost her brother and how that,
08:09you know, really put her in a low spot and actually led her to find drag once again.
08:14You know, we talked about, she took like a 14 year hiatus from drag.
08:17And I loved the moment that she shared that she took her brother's jeans from before he passed.
08:23And those are actually the same jeans that she made her entrance outfit with for this season.
08:27I had no idea.
08:28It was so, you know, emotional.
08:31It was a really powerful moment.
08:32And, and, you know, I love seeing, I'm always a little bit worried about the edit because when
08:36you see something emotional, you think, uh, oh, are the editors giving us a little monologue
08:41because this person is going home this week?
08:43Yeah.
08:43You start to like, you know, but, but it was just great to see this side of, you know,
08:47the Queens.
08:48Yeah.
08:48And like even Kenya, like they, they, they then, they then started talking to Kenya
08:52and she was talking about how she was born at, when her mother was really young, she was born
08:56on like the floor of her mother's college dorm room.
08:59And her mother, I mean, TLC has a show.
09:01I didn't know I was pregnant.
09:02Yeah.
09:03And like Kenya's mother was one of these women who, you know, probably gave birth early,
09:08you know, and she was in college.
09:10And then, uh, Kenya was raised by her grandmother.
09:13Yeah.
09:13And then I was really touched by her reconnecting with her mom later on when she came out because,
09:20you know, grandma wasn't as supportive of the whole gay thing, but mom was.
09:24Yeah.
09:25And it just goes, I'm getting chills.
09:26I'm getting chills.
09:27I know.
09:27It just goes to show you, you know, drag, it brings people together in ways that you can't expect it.
09:34It's really refreshing to see one of a narrative that you don't see often of like
09:39coming out actually brought you closer to your family.
09:41You know, you don't, that's not something we're usually used to.
09:44Um, so that was, that was really beautiful to see.
09:46Loved seeing like all these sides of these girls.
09:49Like you said, it wasn't for like a tricky edit or anything.
09:51It's just like showing the, the complete, you know, package of all of these ladies,
09:57which is so great.
09:58It did make me think like how hard it is to get on the show if you don't have
10:01an interesting life story.
10:03I know.
10:03You got to kind of like go through the, uh, the trauma bin and be like,
10:06what could I cry about on the show?
10:09Yeah.
10:09We got to secure that Emmy.
10:10Come on.
10:11The traders are, you know, right behind us.
10:13Biting at the heels.
10:14They are.
10:15Um, so we go to the main stage.
10:18I got to say, Rue has been looking so incredible this season.
10:22Snatched.
10:23I don't know what the hell Zaldi, his designer has been putting in the water this season,
10:28but like this look was incredible.
10:30The picture window peekaboo that like dark blue sequin.
10:35It's just, it reminded me a lot of the episode two outfit she wore.
10:38It was just like that same kind of just iridescent, like texture.
10:41I mean, she has just been looking amazing.
10:43The whole panel was sparkly today.
10:45Yeah.
10:45Yeah.
10:45We had La Roche come back, which obviously always welcomed.
10:49With 16 inches of hair.
10:50Yes.
10:51La's like, hello, I'm back.
10:53Come on, come on.
10:54Um, and then guest judge was Anna Lee Ashford.
10:57We love her.
10:57I saw her in Sweeney Todd.
10:58I was obsessed.
10:59She's great.
11:00Yeah.
11:00Um, so let's get into this runway.
11:02Let's talk about our favorites of the week.
11:05Do you want to start off?
11:06I have two favorites.
11:08I, and I gotta say right off the bat, I was really stunned by Juicy's look.
11:13It just was like pretty and pink with the, with the yellow.
11:17Obviously I'm into yellow fringe and fur.
11:19I was like, meow.
11:20She just looks so good.
11:21I just love the, the silhouette of it.
11:23Obviously we have to give honorable mentions to the person who
11:26pretty much made the dress.
11:27Correct.
11:28Yes.
11:28Jane down.
11:29Yeah.
11:29That was something I wanted to ask you about.
11:31Like, what's your perspective on, you know, Jane kind of talked about,
11:34you're going to slowly run out of people who will help you in this competition.
11:38And we've, we've known that Juicy is not a seamstress or a designer by any means.
11:43She's a flipper.
11:43You know, she, she, she just charms her way through, you know, getting help from others.
11:48And we've seen this in past seasons.
11:49And I think it's something where the person who's helping just has to, you know, re is,
11:55is that a place you want to put yourself in?
11:57Is that a position you want to put yourself in?
11:58Because obviously Juicy got kudos for this outfit.
12:01You could see Jane kind of like side-eyeing, you know, but you're not going to stand on that
12:05stage and be like, well, I actually did none of this.
12:08You know, this was all that person.
12:09I mean, you can throw maybe a little bone, but.
12:11And I think it's, it just speaks to Jane Don't being secure in the competition at this point.
12:16Yes.
12:16That she can spread a little of the talent around.
12:18And, and, you know, Jane looked incredible as well, but my other favorite, you know,
12:23I think a lot of the looks are great, but my other favorite was, um, Mia.
12:27Ugh, yes.
12:28The little Kim look was just so iconic.
12:32And I thought her look really did twist the two together in such a fun way.
12:36And the chandelier wig on top, I just, I just liked it.
12:40Yeah.
12:41It was so true to Mia's brand, which I love.
12:43Mia is a big boob girl.
12:45She loves a big breastplate.
12:47So I think her specifically embodying this little Kim look just felt so correct.
12:53So it was really great seeing.
12:55She's a hip hop girl.
12:56She's toured with Rihanna.
12:57I know.
12:57So it just felt like, like a great mashup of her own personal drag style and really honoring
13:04these two looks.
13:05She didn't go too literal with the chandelier.
13:08You know, it was, it was, it was tasteful.
13:10Yeah.
13:10There's a cup, there's some beading dangling off the side and then the hair, you know,
13:13is giving, um, was that Halle Berry movie?
13:17Which one?
13:19Oh, Baps?
13:21Sure.
13:22I guess.
13:23We're going back far with this one.
13:24Okay.
13:24What was your favorite look?
13:25Um, I had two also, um, my first one was Sierra.
13:29This, uh, Gaga and Justin Britney inspired outfit was just so great.
13:35Like the, the vibrant red of this outfit was amazing.
13:39I just think that like that fascinator, the, the Philip Tracy inspired fascinator is so
13:44Gaga coded.
13:45I mean, when she rounded the corner, I immediately knew this was a Gaga inspiration.
13:49Oh, bad romance.
13:50And the fact that it was like made out of the denim material was a cool crossover
13:54of like the two, which I really liked.
13:56And just Sierra is someone who knows details.
13:59Like we've seen this in a lot of her looks, everything down to like her Instagram presence.
14:05Like she, she is a detail oriented queen.
14:07So I love seeing that in this outfit as well with like the meat tag and like the, the, the,
14:11the tying of, you know, the roast around her outfit.
14:15Like it was just really great.
14:17One thing I would have loved to see maybe like a Gaga heel, like, you know, just a classic
14:21Gaga silhouette would have been amazing.
14:23I feel like Sierra is the type of queen that would have that type of shoe.
14:25Maybe shouldn't pack it for drag race.
14:27And it would have also added a little bit more, you know,
14:28Gaga often does like the cloved hoof or something.
14:32And we've got denim and meat.
14:34There's something, I wanted something a little bit more country there.
14:37Something a little bit more slaughterhouse.
14:38Yeah.
14:39Like an arm, the armadillo heel or something could have been really fun.
14:41A hook.
14:42Yeah.
14:42Give me a hook.
14:43Yeah.
14:43Really.
14:44I'll say that about Mia's dress.
14:46How cute would have been if she were pregnant or carrying a baby in that.
14:49That would have been.
14:50If her baby was like a purse or she was pregnant, that would have, she would have won.
14:54Yeah.
14:54It's all in the details, baby.
14:56And then my second favorite was NeNe.
14:59NeNe Coco.
15:01This was very simple, but very effective, which I can absolutely appreciate.
15:07Just the catsuit bodysuit was correct.
15:10It was perfectly made.
15:11Over the shoe, gave it the full silhouette.
15:13Yep.
15:13The draping of the JLo inspired outfit.
15:16You know, her referencing just like the deep V. It's just simple.
15:20You know, I loved like the head wrap that she had.
15:23NeNe's makeup is always perfection.
15:27If I was flying on Emirates and NeNe came down the aisle and was like,
15:31what beverage would you like?
15:32I'd be like, all of it.
15:33Give it to me now.
15:34Give it to me.
15:34Just another detail oriented queen that I am obsessed with.
15:39Every week after an episode, she drops like her sketch inspirations for each runway.
15:45And she is just such a methodical thinker.
15:48And I can absolutely appreciate that.
15:51And just know that this girl is, she's doing drag, but she's doing like artistry.
15:56At like a different level that people are not on the same level as.
16:00We love.
16:00And she looks like Alicia Edwards.
16:02We love Alicia.
16:04But none of our favorites actually won.
16:07Yeah.
16:07So this was interesting.
16:08So, well, in the tops were Sierra and then Vita and Jane, which Vita still had a great look.
16:15You know, we know Vita is always going to deliver.
16:18She's always going to do great.
16:19Um, Jane, like you said, wasn't my favorite Jane Doe outfit.
16:23I mean, it was fine.
16:24It was a cool reference, um, you know, to maim the Bea Arthur movie.
16:30Is that what it was?
16:31Yeah.
16:31Yeah.
16:31So, um, Vita ended up winning this challenge, which is really great.
16:37I think it's redemption from episode one, since they had to lip sync for the crown or the top.
16:42Absolutely.
16:42And Nene ended up winning when, you know, she should have, when, uh, Vita's black and
16:47white umbrella look was the best.
16:49Yeah.
16:49So I'm glad she's got the redemption, which is great.
16:51But even before we get into this lip sync, we got to go back and fully talk about this Briar,
16:56this Briar situation because let's like, just lay it out on what happened.
17:01The play by play.
17:02So LaRoche is critiquing harshly.
17:06Yes.
17:06The look.
17:07Correct.
17:07Looks like a WWE wrestler is what he said.
17:10Wanted her to suplex juicy, very valid, very valid.
17:15But this was, you know, the moment where suddenly we start seeing Briar blinking.
17:19Yeah.
17:19She has like a very empty stare and even law comments and he's like, don't look at me like
17:24that.
17:24And then, you know, she kind of like snaps out of it.
17:26And then, you know, and then as Ru is about to name who wore it better, drops, drops, faints,
17:33but her eyes are open the whole time.
17:35So the whole thing is very, very eerie.
17:37Yeah.
17:38I thought, I thought it was creepy, but immediately then the, the girl's backs,
17:42uh, on the back line are like, she's faking it.
17:45This isn't true.
17:46This is fake.
17:47Yeah.
17:47So Mia, so Mia goes, well, that better be real.
17:51And Vita says, it's not, it's a show.
17:55And then you've got Mikey and confessionals being like, she would never do that.
17:58She would never do that.
17:59It's, it's not, uh, true.
18:00The drag queen who cried wolf.
18:02Yeah.
18:03I don't know if I want to speak on like whether, what I think of it.
18:07Only one person knows.
18:08No, exactly.
18:09So to speculate is just wasting time, but it definitely was a moment where we were like,
18:14holy crap, like what's going on?
18:16You know?
18:17So I want to know you guys watching in the comments.
18:21Do you think it was real or fake?
18:23Like, like we're, we're not here to, to speculate.
18:25Yeah.
18:25We want to know what you guys think.
18:26Yeah.
18:26Let us know.
18:27But even with her fainting spell, uh, Briar still ended up in the bottom.
18:32So she ended up in the bottom against Kenya and, um, she comes back.
18:39Briar's cleared from medical and she says, I cannot squabble this opportunity.
18:45Everyone else is like, girl, what the fuck?
18:46I know.
18:47It's like Michael Rappaport on traders with a commiserate.
18:50We're all getting our dictionaries out watching reality TV these days.
18:52Yeah.
18:53Yeah.
18:53It's like, you don't want to squabble the opportunities.
18:55Squander.
18:56Squander baby.
18:57The word of the day is squander.
18:59Um, so Briar and Kenya have to lip sync to lights, camera, action by Kylie Minogue.
19:05Fun song.
19:06Uh, what'd you think about the lip sync?
19:08Yeah, it was fun.
19:09I mean, I, I think it was clear who was gonna go home, but yeah, I don't, I don't know.
19:14I think they were evenly matched.
19:15They were fun.
19:16I live for Kenya as a performer.
19:18Like she is just like, she can dip, she can split, she can drop it.
19:25I mean, to, to quote herself, she said the did touch the ground, darling.
19:30Um, I mean, she was thrusting.
19:33She was impregnating that floor.
19:35It was crazy.
19:36Um, I don't know what it is about Briar.
19:38I said it last week with her lip sync.
19:40She like gargles her words, like something about like,
19:43I don't know if she like knows the words and she's just not enunciating them.
19:48Something about it just like, it's kind of off for me, but I was living for Kenya.
19:52Kenya, I was, I was fully, I had a ticket to the pleaser show and I'm really happy that she shined.
19:59And let's be real.
20:01You know, Kenya ain't going home.
20:03No, no, we still need to see.
20:05We still need to see.
20:06And in the words of Mia, justice for Mandy Mango, justice for Mandy Mango in this lip sync.
20:12You said no comment.
20:14Um, but in this, uh, Briar ended up being the one who did not win.
20:19Kenya edged her out.
20:21And unfortunately, Briar had to be, uh, sent home.
20:24This episode got a lot of screen time this week.
20:27Yeah.
20:27And you know, we sort of saw the, the, the villain character, you know, get challenged.
20:33And then she cracked and then she fainted and you know, or, or, or did she?
20:37Yeah.
20:38And then the medics revived her with some smelling salts.
20:43Who knows what they did backstage.
20:44And then she packed her bags and went home.
20:47Yeah.
20:47Um, I think Briar has, she made a good impression on the show.
20:51You know, she, she had, she came in guns,
20:54blazing and she had a very strong personality, um, a very clear drag aesthetic, which I love,
20:59you know?
21:00So I think she, the girl group challenge, she totally rocked.
21:03Amazing.
21:03She looked so good in that and just really felt like, you know, cherry bomb in the runaways.
21:08And so I think that we're going to see a lot more, you know, badass rock and roll,
21:12you know, punk rock moments.
21:14Come on Briar.
21:15Um, so yeah.
21:16So next week we've got, uh, a big surprise.
21:20We've got a big surprise next week.
21:21So we will not be here next week recapping episode five, but we have a very special surprise
21:29to be in lieu of that.
21:31That's right.
21:31We've got Nympha Wind and Plastique Tiara.
21:34They're on tour right now.
21:36The Serpents tour.
21:38Yes.
21:38And they're passing through New York and Philadelphia, and we are going to talk to them.
21:42And this weekend, you want to see this double diva act.
21:47They're going to be at, uh, Irving Plaza on Sunday in New York city.
21:51And they're going to be at the theater of the living arts in Philly on Monday.
21:54And then next week we're going to talk to them.
21:57Heck yeah.
21:57I cannot wait.
21:58I mean, two legends.
22:00You've got a winner and you've got like an all-star the most followed drag queen on social media.
22:07The lady herself.
22:10I'm excited.
22:11These girls do drag mama.
22:14This show.
22:15Oh, you know, they're bringing the looks.
22:16You know, they're bringing the storytelling.
22:18They're going to be bringing everything.
22:19And I can tell you when Nympha won, I was at a $3 bill in Brooklyn and the crowd went wild.
22:27And also the Asian representation in the room was unlike anything $3 bill had ever seen before.
22:33Yeah.
22:34Nympha is special.
22:35So grab your bananas.
22:36Grab your bananas.
22:38Get ready.
22:38Wear yellow next week.
22:39It'll still drop at the normal time.
22:41You're ready already.
22:42I'm ready.
22:43You're ready to go.
22:44Um, so yes, that will drop on the standard Saturday that we do for Workroom Weekly.
22:48But yeah, we'll see you the following week to get back to recapping.
22:52That's right.
22:53See you then.
22:53Thanks for watching.
22:54Bye.
