Salwani Anuar@Kamaruddin, the third wife of former army chief Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, was charged at the Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu on Monday (Jan 26) with receiving proceeds from unlawful activities amounting to RM5,000 last year.

The 27-year-old pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman.

00:04appeared in court on Monday to face fresh money laundering charges,
00:08her second court appearance in less than a week.
00:11Salwani Anuar, alias Kamaruddin, who required wheelchair assistance again
00:16due to a chronic boil on her thigh,
00:18was charged at the Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu
00:21with receiving proceeds from unlawful activities amounting to 5,000 ringgit.
00:26The 27-year-old accused pleaded not guilty before Judge Mohammad Azhar Othman.
00:32According to the charge sheet, Salwani allegedly received the illegal funds
00:36deposited into her bank account at a bank branch in Kirtay on January 16 last year.
00:43The charge was framed under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing
00:48and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.
00:52If convicted, she faces up to 15 years' imprisonment
00:55and a substantial fine, not less than five times the amount of the proceeds
01:00or five million ringgit, whichever is higher.
01:03The prosecution requested that the same bail terms granted previously be applied,
01:0830,000 ringgit in two sureties,
01:10with conditions requiring monthly reporting to the nearest MACC office
01:15and surrender of her passport.
01:17The court granted the bail,
01:18and the case is set to be transferred to Kuala Lumpur
01:21to be heard together with her earlier charge.
01:24and with related charges against her husband.
01:27The case has been set for mention on March 30,
01:30when it will be formally transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
