00:00That's it. Worldwide. Takeover. Times Square. Takeover. The Takeover. New York Takeover.
00:16You just put anything with Takeover. At least almost every day. I try to get every day,
00:20you know. My last journaling was two days ago, though. I'm going to journal right now.
00:25Do a little bit of, you know, just manifesting. Bringing in some good, positive affirmation and thoughts.
00:36When it comes to it, like, boxing is pretty much all mentality. It's all mental.
00:42Are you mentally prepared with the audience? Are you mentally going to be prepared with a certain punch selection?
00:48There's things that I have to maintain as well. Those are things that I have to work on within myself.
00:53It's a muscle. Think of it like condiments, right? You got your ketchup, you got your mustard,
00:57you got all these type of condiments. But you don't know if you like it or not unless you try it.
01:01And I think the same thing applies when it comes to getting prepared for certain things like this.
01:06Pretty much you have to try different things.
01:11There's not going to be no sparring session. He's coming to win. I'm coming to win. I guarantee you that.
01:16Nah, I'm coming to conquer. You're not conquering.
01:19Teofimo Lopez trains intensely every day, improving speed, footwork, and reflexes
01:24while preparing mentally and physically for Stevenson's challenge.
01:28Because at the end of the day, I don't hope he left nobody.
01:46Inside camp, Tio hits the bags nonstop, improving strength, endurance, timing, and technique
02:05while preparing intensely for the fight.
02:07But this ain't AutoZone. It's a TakeOver show. In case you ain't know, I rhyme with my flow.
02:13I've been doing this since a young kid. In case you ain't know, two-time world champ.
02:19Let me know, let me know. Who's a show? Who's a show? I'm the TakeOver, bro.
02:25Yeah. Who's doing it like this? All you fighters. You whack. I'm your daddy. That's a fa-
02:35T.O. revisits Shakur's past fights, analyzing carefully, and says this time is different,
02:40staying confident in his skills and strategy.
02:59T.O.'s trainer says they're implementing many new strategies and techniques in camp,
03:03preparing him smarter and stronger for the Shakur fight.
03:07We are here at the Undisputed Performance Center,
03:10just in preparation for January 31st against Shakur Stevenson.
03:14He was born for this. He's God-gifted.
03:17We're implementing a lot of different things for this camp.
03:19You got to do things in there that people have never seen.
03:22Every day is a different type of segment of working out.
03:25Earlier today, I had a little bit of strength and conditioning,
03:27and then swimming, exercising, and expanding those lungs.
03:31And then we finish off late night.
03:33We come here and do 18 ounces of gloves, an hour or as long as I can of training without no break.
03:39Just trying to see how much more I could push.
03:42He's the best whenever he's in good condition.
03:44Like they say, we eat, we sleep, everything boxed.
03:47For the Shakur fight, T.O. is fully determined, focused,
03:50and ready to give everything to take the belt this time.
03:53My nutritionist is anonymous.
03:55They're giving me a lot more protein than the previous camps.
03:58I'm actually having more meals in between rather than before.
04:02I've been with him ever since he started boxing, which was at six.
04:06I really knew that he was really good when he started beating professional fighters at 13, 14 years old.
04:13Between me and Shakur, when we were under top rank, because we were the next rising stars,
04:18we sparred, we did only three rounds back in Miami in 2016.
04:22I was getting the best out of him.
04:24He should have seen it afterwards.
04:25Why do you think he said stop?
04:27He said stop recording.
04:28Come on, dawg.
04:29T.O. says it's just business, but he's working hard and focused on winning the undisputed title he's chasing passionately.
04:35I really want to know and get down to it.
04:38It's just business.
04:39I did it at 23, which is five, and by all the grace of God, I'm still here, so it's cool.
04:49I will forever call you undisputed.
04:51I am.
04:52I'm a two-time undisputed, technically.
04:53Josh Taylor didn't lose his belts.
04:55He relinquished them, but the guys that had those belts, he kind of basically already beaten them alongside Pro Gracie B as well,
05:02who carried the WBC world title.
05:04Exactly.
05:05So we fought the guys to beat the guy to be the guy.
05:08This fight is great for boxing, and no matter the outcome, the matchup brings excitement and attention to the sport.
05:14You know, so I think that we being this and doing what we're doing is the start of all these other big cards coming in,
05:21and it's nothing but up for boxing itself.
05:24So for everybody that's tuning in, keep tuning in, keep supporting, because we're only going to get bigger and better from this.
05:31For sure, for sure.
05:32Tio says he's faced personal battles and worked on himself privately, pushing limits and growing in ways nobody else knows.
05:40I didn't want him to see my face, because I was disgusted within myself.
05:45There was something within me that I hated.
05:48Parts of it still comes back and forth, even at this age of 28, but I don't run away.
05:53I embrace it now.
05:55I mean, we were stablemates, me and Shakur, top rank.
05:58He talks about this and that and about, I was jealous of him.
06:01No, you were a 2016 USA silver medalist.
06:06You're going to get your signing bonus and all that extra stuff.
06:10Thing was, they were trying to secure him in a different route, because they had put a lot of money in him.
06:17Me, I think I was just supposed to be an opponent eventually.
06:21Now we're back.
06:22This plan is against me.
06:24Absolutely.
06:25Tio commented that Shakur was better during his amateur days, but now he's focused, prepared, and confident in his own abilities.
06:33I'm going to be real honest.
06:35He was a lot better younger.
06:36Yeah.
06:37Yes.
06:38Fooled y'all.
06:39There's no way he was better when he was less experienced.
06:44Yo, the man's was a lot better, a lot slicker, smoother, sharper.
06:48Wait, so you think like...
06:49Shakur was better than the amateurs.
06:52So you think with the added weight, he got slower, less sharp, like...
06:58Skills are there, but everything that goes with it, with the body weight and all that, like you say, it ain't for him.
07:05He was dominating the Junior Olympics, and then the Youth Olympic Games, he even won that.
07:12On 23, he was still looking sharp, then 26, 30, 35.
07:17I just think the muscle mass, his body can't...
07:20He can't carry it.
07:22He can't carry it with a fighter like myself, and I'm going to exploit that come January 31st.
07:28Shakur Stevenson enters the fight with full confidence in his skills and experience.
07:33Knowing he has grown as a fighter, he has improved physically, gained reach, and refined his technique, making him a much tougher challenge than before.
07:41No longer the smaller, less experienced opponent, Shakur believes he can handle Teofimo Lopez on his terms.
07:47His focus is on executing his game plan, controlling distance, and capitalizing on any mistakes.
07:54With discipline, composure, and a clear understanding of his abilities, Shakur is determined to prove that his growth and experience make him ready for this high-stakes matchup.
08:03Tim Bradley breaks down the matchup between Teofimo and Shakur, focusing on strategy.
08:33and exploiting weaknesses.
08:34He notes that keeping Teofimo off balance and guessing is crucial.
08:38Maintaining a strong jab in his face forces Teofimo backward, preventing him from dictating the pace.
08:43While Teofimo moves his feet, he frequently makes mistakes, often putting himself out of position.
08:48Bradley points out that when Teofimo disengages or resets, his defense falters, leaving him vulnerable.
08:54Standing upright or mismanaging mid-range opportunities creates openings that Shakur can exploit.
08:59Bradley emphasizes that Shakur doesn't need to run from Teofimo.
09:02He can stay composed, observe the attacks, and respond effectively.
09:06Teofimo relies on rapid jabs to close the distance and create openings for his right hand.
09:11He flicks jabs to gauge reactions and looks to sneak punches upstairs while attacking downstairs.
09:16He can walk the Teofimo, yeah, as long as he walk behind with the jab, as long as he walk behind with feints, because feints throw off Teofimo, jabs throw off Teofimo as well.
09:27He's a counter puncher.
09:28Yeah, he's a counter puncher.
09:30So, if you can keep him off balance and keep him guessing, keeping that jab in his face, and you force him back, yeah, he moves his feet, but he makes a lot of mistakes.
09:41Gets himself out of position a lot of times.
09:43He's out of position a lot of the times, man.
09:46Brings those feet together at times.
09:48Oh, yeah.
09:49Mm-hmm.
09:49When he moves side to side, same thing.
09:52You know, he's responsibly, defensively, nah.
09:55When he disengages, defense is whack.
09:58Trash.
09:59Yeah.
10:00When he resets, a lot of times he comes into range, he's standing straight up.
10:03Come on, man.
10:04Shakur can take advantage of Teofimo not being that great on the inside, not being that great at mid-range.
10:11Success for Shakur hinges on maintaining composure, evading incoming punches, and returning to Teo's face quickly.
10:18By staying disciplined and capitalizing on Teo's defensive lapses, Shakur can control the fight.
10:23Bradley stresses the importance of timing, positioning, and patience, showing that understanding the opponent's tendencies can turn small mistakes into decisive advantages in the ring.
10:33He gonna be looking for that right hand, looking for that right hand, then he gonna try to sneak him up top.
10:37Yeah.
10:38It's plain and simple.
10:39Sneak him up top.
10:41That's it.
10:42But if Shakur, look, if Shakur can stand his ground, if Shakur can evade and get right back in his face, right back in his face, man, evade and get right back in his face, right?
10:52When he's not set or ready to punch, when them feet are spread apart, Shakur can walk to him.
11:01Shakur can walk to him.
11:02Shakur ain't gotta move around and all this.
11:05He ain't gotta do that shit against Lopez.
11:08I promise y'all.
11:09He ain't gotta do all of that.
11:11Long as Shakur see them damn punches coming, he gonna be all right.
11:15He might, if he gets clipped with a shot, he gonna be all right.
11:19Yeah.
11:19Oh, yeah.
11:21The shot and another shot he gonna be looking for is the left hook.
11:24Yeah.
11:24Shakur going to that damn, uh, uh, uh, Mayweather defense.
11:29Philly shell.
11:30Adam Azeem shares his prediction for the highly anticipated Teofimo Lopez versus Shakur Stevenson fight, saying,
11:37I'm edging towards Shakur.
11:38He explains that while Teofimo is a strong, talented fighter, Shakur's skills, timing, and composure give him the edge.
11:46Azeem notes Shakur's ability to control distance, read opponents, and capitalize on mistakes makes him a difficult target.
11:53He emphasizes that Teofimo's speed and power are dangerous, but Shakur's defensive awareness and adaptability could prove decisive.
12:01For Azeem, the fight is a fascinating clash of style, but he leans towards Shakur's technique and ring intelligence as the deciding factor.
12:08A big fight in your division in a couple of weeks, Lopez, Stevenson, who do you think is going to win that?
12:13It's actually in the same day as mine, uh, funny enough, uh, look, it's a very tough fight, but I'm edging towards Shakur to win the fight.
12:21Um, I think Shakur can beat him, I think he can, um, I think, uh, Teofimo, um, I think he struggles with southpaw.
12:30The only fight that he didn't struggle with the southpaw was against, uh, Lomachenko, but Lomachenko was really small and he was coming at him, but when he got Shakur, he's on the back foot, and he's just gonna box him, then I see, uh, Shakur winning.
12:42From Coach Rel's perspective, the upcoming fight between Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez is one of the biggest challenges Shakur has faced so far.
12:50He views Lopez as a skilled and experienced fighter who knows how to control a fight and dictate the pace, which makes preparation and strategy crucial.
12:58For Rel, the focus is on ensuring that Shakur remains disciplined and confident, relying on his training rather than outside expectations or pressure from the crowd.
13:07Rel emphasizes the importance of mental readiness in addition to physical preparation.
13:12At this level, blocking out distractions, whether from fans, family, or past performances, is essential for staying focused and sharp in the ring.
13:20Every punch, movement, and decision must be executed with precision.
13:24From his perspective, the fight will be determined by how well Shakur can control the tempo and force Lopez to fight on Shakur's terms,
13:32turning any aggressive tendencies into opportunities for counterattack.
13:36Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, uh, we've all been seeing you working with CORE.
13:40I think this is y'all's second camp together?
13:43Third.
13:43Second camp together?
13:44Third.
13:44I'm doing the only thing I got here.
13:48What's your thoughts on that fight?
13:50Probably the biggest name that you've seen so far.
13:52Well, he, the dude just know how, he, he got the flow of me with the fact.
13:58He know how to make you fight this fight.
14:00What, what I don't want him to do is go in there with the mindset like he did with his last fight.
14:07You know what I'm saying?
14:08Um, trying to prove something to somebody, to all these people that's gonna buy a ticket to the next fight,
14:15no matter when, if he win boring or if he win.
14:18While Lopez brings power, speed, and a strong offensive style,
14:23Rel believes Stevenson's defensive skills, timing, and adaptability give him a significant advantage
14:28if the game plan is followed.
14:30For him, the key is making Lopez react to Shakur rather than allowing Lopez to dictate the action.
14:36Ultimately, Rel sees the fight as a test of discipline, strategy, and composure.
14:41Success will come to the fighter who can impose his will in the ring,
14:45stay focused under pressure, and capitalize on every opening,
14:48making it a critical moment in Shakur's career.
14:51So I want him to go in there and beat Shakur Stevenson.
14:55If that's when the fight would just, yeah, when it would just, yeah, when it would.
15:15Is it hard to, like, silence out everybody's expectations
15:19and just do what you need to do to just win this fight?
15:22From an analyst's point of view, the upcoming fight between Teofimo Lopez,
15:52and Shakur Stevenson carries major implications for both careers.
15:56A loss for Lopez would dramatically affect his standing in the sport.
16:00He would no longer be a champion, and questions about his next move would arise.
16:04Moving up in weight or facing other top contenders might not hold the same appeal
16:08if he comes off a defeat, making future matchups less compelling.
16:11Shakur, on the other hand, represents a pure boxing challenge with technical skills and precise movement.
16:17Where do you really go?
16:20You will no longer be a champion.
16:23Do you go to 47?
16:25You know what I mean?
16:26Because, like, 47 is a waistline.
16:29It is not popping right now.
16:31Yeah, you could have Devin Haney fight,
16:35but if you lose to kind of semi-similar style
16:39in terms of, like, a pure boxer with Shakur,
16:42move up and weight seven pounds,
16:45I really feel like the Teofimo-Devin fight won't be desired.
16:50And then if Ryan Garcia can earn a belt
16:54and finally earn some respect from the boxing fans,
16:58not, like, social media fans and following,
17:01but actual boxing fans,
17:03then Haney's better off defending his title in a unification with Ryan Garcia
17:09than if Shakur beats T.O.
17:12and then T.O. talks about, like, moving up.
17:15For me, that don't really make any type of sense.
17:18Analysts highlight that Stevenson's style could expose weaknesses in Lopez,
17:22testing his ability to adapt and control distance.
17:25A strong performance by Shakur would further elevate his status,
17:29potentially reshaping the lightweight division's landscape.
17:32For Lopez, a victory would reinforce his resilience,
17:35especially since he has been counted out in previous fights,
17:38yet bounced back strongly.
17:39A knockout or dominant performance would earn respect
17:42from boxing purists and analysts alike.
17:45The fight is also significant for the division overall.
17:48Outcomes here could influence potential unification bouts,
17:51future title fights,
17:52and the reputations of other fighters such as Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia.
17:57Analysts agree that this matchup is more than a single fight.
18:00It could define both fighters' trajectories in the sport.
18:03So, it is an important fight.
18:06T.O. has been counted out in fights and done extremely well,
18:09which is why I want to see this fight.
18:11But, according to T.O., he's like,
18:15I really won't be surprised if I knock him out.
18:18Now, I can't speak for T.O.,
18:22but I can speak for me.
18:23If you knock him out, you'll get a lot of props from me,
18:26from the boxing side,
18:27because that would be impressive.
18:29Shakur, I told you,
18:32I call it distance management more so than defense, right?
18:40I think what Shakur does,
18:42and again, it could be an extension of defense,
18:45but I want to frame it like that
18:48because I think Shakur knows his way around the ring,
18:53and he knows his positioning at all spots of the ring
18:57and the different angles.
18:58That's it for today's video.
18:59Stay tuned until next time.
