00:00Mike McCarthy gets the head coaching job in Pittsburgh.
00:03And, you know, I tell you this all the time, right?
00:07I mean, there's been more popes and presidents in the world
00:11than there have been head football coaches since 1969.
00:15McCarthy, obviously, I think when you look at it,
00:17I think you think that the Roonies looked at it where he coached in Green Bay.
00:22He coached the Cowboys.
00:24And now another signature brand in the NFL when it comes to the Steelers.
00:28Maybe, you know, not a long-term, like you're not going to see Tomlin
00:32or Cowher or No in longevity, but, you know, probably the right guy
00:37because he takes over these big brands.
00:40Yeah, he's been Mr. Consistency.
00:42You know, he hasn't won a Super Bowl since he was at Green Bay,
00:45but he's not a bad coach.
00:46And maybe that helps Aaron Rodgers stay another year in Pittsburgh
00:51because the nucleus of that team isn't that bad.
00:54Now they got some holes on the offensive side,
00:56and they did have some injuries going into the playoffs that hurt them.
00:59But the defensive side of the football, they're always at the top of the list.
01:02And, you know, he could be good for a year or two.
01:04He could be like a Band-Aid before they get the next head coach.
01:07I don't see him staying there more than four years, though.
01:09I mean, it's just too long for him.
01:12What do you make of the job that has gone on up in Buffalo?
01:16I mean, you know, Josh Allen is arguably the best talent there is in the NFL.
01:22I call him a bigger version of John Elway.
01:25If you remember John Elway back in the day, big dude, rifle arm, physical guy,
01:31ran the ball early in his career until he got older,
01:33and they ended up getting Terrell Davis in there.
01:35But, I mean, then you get Brandon Bean being elevated to the presidency,
01:40and you have Terry Pikula coming out and running over Sean McDermott again.
01:45It ended up costing him, you know, his job.
01:47What did you make of that whole scenario and how it played out last week in Buffalo?
01:52I mean, I feel bad for McDermott because he's a local guy,
01:55and, you know, he's won a lot of football games for that organization.
01:59But he does have Superman on that football team, and the expectations are so high.
02:03You're supposed to win the Super Bowl when you have a quarterback of that caliber
02:06in Josh Allen, and they just haven't been able to get the job done.
02:09I think it's time to move on like they did in Philly with Andy Reid.
02:12I hope McDermott goes out there and wins the Super Bowl with somebody else.
02:14But after nine years, you know, you get exhausted, the fans get restless,
02:18and I think it was time to move on from that.
02:21Yeah, absolutely.
02:22And, you know, you're so many gigs.
02:23What did you make of the hire of the head coach in Baltimore?
02:28I mean, listen, Jesse Mentor was – and here's what I don't get.
02:33Godfather for me, I was told by the owner, Steve Buscetti, that, you know,
02:37at the end of the day, you know, we were going to get away from the hardball coaching tree.
02:42Well, wait, now Jesse Mentor was up in, okay, Michigan and Ann Arbor with Jim.
02:49Then he was the D.C. in Los Angeles with him with the Chargers,
02:55and now here we are again.
02:57We have a head coach who was on that hardball tree.
03:00I thought we were getting away with it.
03:02So, to me, isn't this John Harbaugh 2.0?
03:06Yeah, it's like a poor man's version.
03:07Hopefully he has some success.
03:08I mean, the biggest issue, Lamar, you know, the Ravens have had been in the playoffs.
03:14Lamar plays at lights out during the regular season.
03:16But in the playoffs, to me, he's been one of the biggest choke artists of all time.
03:19And the reason why I say that is his propensity to turn the ball over in the playoffs
03:23compared to the regular season is four times the amount.
03:26So, you can't turn the ball over in the playoffs.
03:28You saw what happened with Josh Allen, turn the ball four times.
03:30You're not going to win football games.
03:31And that's been the storyline of Lamar Jackson since he came into this league.
03:36You know, the field shortens and more mistakes have been made by Lamar Jackson.
03:40And you're not going to win playoff games with Lamar Jackson if he keeps choking in the playoffs
03:43no matter who the coach is.
