00:00Thank you, JT. So that will be the focus. Kitchen and Stan Deegan are up in heat race number two.
00:07Here we go. First race of the evening from Anaheim.
00:14And it's going to be Chance Hymus on the Honda HRC Progressive podium in Anaheim here two weeks ago.
00:20Out front of the heat, but there's Kitchen right behind him.
00:23Yeah, much better start for Levi here.
00:25And almost trying to make a move in that rhythm.
00:31And it's going to get tricky right here as we head to the whoops.
00:33Yeah, this is what we were looking for for Levi.
00:36If he wants to challenge for these race wins, he's going to have to start up front.
00:40But what a run by Boland.
00:41Yeah, he had the 3-3 after the whoops. I'm sure we'll be talking about that all night.
00:45Somehow Kitchen holds him off.
00:48But Boland went through Ryder DeFrancisco to get to third of the 19th.
00:50DeFrancisco on the 34th. And here's the split lane. Outside, inside.
00:59DeFrancisco still working him.
01:01I really like these split lanes that the SMX track crew have put into the racetrack here tonight.
01:06Giving these guys options. Some guys going inside. Some guys going outside.
01:12I feel like certain parts of the night later on tonight that maybe the inside might be faster now.
01:17But as that line starts to wear out, it's going to force those guys to go to the outside line.
01:23Boland won the first heat a week ago in San Diego on that Club of X Yamaha.
01:27Showing they can compete with the top factory teams.
01:30There is Kitchen in second. Got a little ground to make up on Hymas.
01:34What we talked about in the opener. Levi Kitchen.
01:39I expected him to be one of the main challengers, if not the main challenger for Hayden Deegan for this championship.
01:46And like JT talked about and told us, just those two crashes in the first corner of both main events
01:53is a massive, massive step backwards.
01:57And like JT said, you said it perfectly.
02:00You cannot spot that kind of track position in this championship.
02:05JT.
02:07Yeah, Rick. And, you know, the same thing kind of applied to Chance Hymas.
02:11Yes, that opening round at Anaheim 1 was fantastic.
02:14But then last weekend, he had such a great opportunity to back that up.
02:17He was in position challenging Cameron McAdoo in that huge mistake.
02:21He was so fortunate to get away from that without going down.
02:24But how quickly it could have been back-to-back runner-up positions for Chance Hymas.
02:29And arguably, he could have had the championship lead coming into round three.
02:33So he's backing it up here again.
02:34But you're finding like a theme with these 250 guys.
02:38So much excellence, but also mistakes are defining their championship runs at the same time.
02:43Yeah, and a good battle between them brewing here.
02:45JT, hey, SMX Betting and DFS Gaming is back for 2026.

03:04Remember, every race is another chance to win big with Super Motocross.
03:09And we're kind of seeing it right now.
03:11Kitchen will close in on Hymas.
03:13Hymas will pull back away.
03:14They're taking the measure of each other.
03:16Well, they are.
03:17And this track's going to take a set here.
03:19This dirt, compared to the first time that we were in Hyme, is in much better condition.
03:23Not as dry, not as slick.
03:25You hear a lot of positive comments from the riders today in qualifying practice.
03:29Just how much grip there is compared to the first time that they were here.
03:34I'll tell you what, who had a save of the weekend last week was Chance Hymas in that main event
03:39over that little triple kind of before the finish line.
03:42And that was a close call.
03:45So good to see him rebound.
03:47Clearly, that hasn't affected him.
03:50Well, it looked like he was going to endo, go over the handlebars.
03:53He actually upshifted in the air.
03:56Talk about the presence of mind to do that.
03:58And it is Brandon Ray, by the way, who was down in that section.
04:01The riders have to roll the jumps.
04:03Well, Kitchen doubles out.
04:04Yeah.
04:04Were the flags done at that point?
04:06Well, he had passed the cross flags there.
04:09So by the rule, I believe he was allowed to make that move.
04:12But here's a great run at the split lane.
04:15This is going to be a highlight of the track all night long.
04:19Already starting to equal out.
04:21I love that.
04:22And DeFrancisco is starting to close on the two of them.
04:25Not sure how the flags affected him, RC.
04:28But the battle is on.
04:28And Ryder D's had a great two races and a start to this championship already.
04:34He's put on a lot of weight in the offseason, bulking up, becoming stronger.
04:39And, man, he just looks like he can manhandle this motorcycle.
04:43And it is a positive reflection on his rider and results, JT.
04:50Well, you're coming around back to that split lane.
04:51We saw Brandon Ray go down.
04:53And right when you guys were talking about that save by Chance Hymus,
04:56the Brandon Ray crash was so similar.
04:58He sat into it.
04:59That seat bounce where Chance Hymus is right here.
05:01That triple.
05:02Oh, exactly.
05:03Oh!
05:04And it happened to Kitchen.
05:05He goes end over end.
05:07Just what you were talking about.
05:10Luckily, he appears to be okay.
05:12That was a rough one.
05:13That right there is an incredible...
05:17It's incredible to see him get back up on that motorcycle.
05:21That was gnarly.
05:24Oh, that bike is mangled.
05:26Mangled, to say the least.
05:29Is he going to be able...
05:30Same thing, like JT was talking about.
05:32They seat hop that jump so hard.
05:36And the thing that makes it difficult, like JT was talking about,
05:39is the up ramp or the pitch of that jump is so steep.
05:44And the jump itself is small, which makes that rebound effect even worse.
05:51That was a gnarly get-off.
05:53And if you catch on Hymus' case, Hymus didn't get it clean either.
05:57Obviously, Kitchen was worse.
05:59And you almost wonder if that kind of distracted Levi Kitchen.
06:04Oh, great to see him up and riding.
06:06I think the biggest thing for Levi right now is he's got to stay strong if he can.
06:10And hopefully that bike will stay in one piece and he can make it to the main event,
06:14not have to go to the LCQ.
06:16So, has to stay top nine here with two to go.
06:18He's got Mumford on the AEO KTM all over him.
06:22If he lets Mumford by, that's not a problem.
06:24He doesn't want to get back with these guys.
06:26You got Schlosser and Schwartz battling it out for eighth and ninth.
06:30Schwartz on the 42 is in the final transfer spot.
06:34That's the Toyota Redlands Bar X Yamaha.
06:37And then behind them is Freehill, who made the main out of the LCQ last week.
06:41Oh, nice move.
06:42Yeah, what a pass right there.
06:43He just sets Schlosser up, takes a little bit wider entry to the corner,
06:49cuts underneath him, makes a pass through the apex of the sand perfectly out.
06:54Oh, Freehill had the line on the inside, went for it.
06:58It did not work.
06:59And he might have hurt himself.
07:00He did.
07:02Trying to get Schlosser.
07:04Oh, he grabbed his wrist there.
07:06That was not, that didn't look too good.
07:09Freehill 316.
07:11Nah, good there.
07:13As for Chance Hymus, he might not even realize what happened to Kitchen.
07:17All of a sudden, he has a giant lead.
07:18Well, I'm going to tell you again, incredible save last week.
07:22Another good save here.
07:24And that gnarly section before the mechanics area.
07:29Yellows are out, I believe.
07:30Yeah, yellows are out.
07:32Oh, man, Chance looks really good right now.
07:36So to go back to last week, the upshifting in the air.
07:39Yeah.
07:39Talk about the presence of mind to react and save it like that.
07:43Yeah, how it changes the pitch and the gyro effect of the motorcycle when that bike is wanting to go forward.
07:51I mean, these things are happening in the blink of an eye.
07:53I think these are incredible athletes to have the ability to make an adjustment like that on the fly to save what could have been an unbelievable wreck.
08:04There it is.
08:05He won.
08:05It's Anaheimus taking the win here.
08:09See if he can replicate that in the main.
08:10Here's Kitchen.
08:11Can he bring it home?
08:12He's still in fourth.
08:14Bangle bike, endo and all.
08:16Yeah, after that crash, this is a really solid finish for Levi Kitchen.
08:23And you just hate to see this.
08:25Like we're talking about, we know he's one of the major challengers and just simple mistakes all season long.
08:32Glad he's all right, though.
