00:49When you think about where Eli's at, all that, just those three guys that separate them
00:56is all you need for a guy like Chase Sexton to build a gap and maintain.

01:22Oh, and they almost bumped wheels.
01:23And there's Eli right in the mix.
01:27And we had said early in the season that the early lap intensity was maybe the one weakness
01:32for Hunter, not this time.

01:34This is where he absolutely had to improve.
01:38And he has done a magnificent job of that last week and so far here early on in the main.
01:44Now, you remember, you go back to Anaheim 1, the one guy that he had a problem getting
01:50by, and that's Jason Anderson.
01:52If he's able to get to that rear wheel of Anderson, he cannot wait around like he did at A1.
01:59It's going to be interesting to see how that plays out.
02:01There is no love loss and a lot of history between Anderson and the Lawrence brothers.
02:06So that was the situation Hunter had to deal with two weeks ago here.
02:10But he's got to go because Sexton and Tomac are right there.
02:14Then you've got Plessinger.
02:15Webb's sixth.
02:16Ken Rockson is in 21st place.
02:20These guys are just absolutely slingshotting out of that outside line in the sand section.

03:32I think the ride that he had last week was something to build on.
03:35He got the bike a little bit more dialed in.
03:39Said the bike fell too low at Anaheim 1.
03:42They actually made it taller.
03:44Was much more comfortable last week.
03:46Had a ton of speed.
03:47But got stuck in the starting gate.
03:49Now, finally, we can see what Sexton can do from the front.
03:53We talked about it a little bit before the night, before the races started here.
03:58And I just felt like watching Tomac in practice.
04:01I just didn't feel like he was spot on and his timing wasn't as precise as it was the last two weeks.
04:08Obviously, he's gotten a little bit better since qualifying practice earlier today.
04:13But I just feel like he's missing that little bit extra that he had.
04:19Well, we were trying to theorize as to why.
04:21The dirt a lot different than Anaheim 1.
04:24Could that be the difference maker?
04:25Yeah.
04:25Again, a little more load on the bike, perhaps.
04:29And not something that he's raced on.
04:31A condition like this on this new machine.
04:34Maybe it's working a bit different for him.

04:39Webb is attacking Plessinger, who's hanging with Tomac.
04:42Oh, Plessinger overjumped.
04:43This is going to allow Webb to get side by side.

04:54These next couple laps, now that he has some clean air,
04:57it's going to be interesting if he can find that Eye of the Tiger
05:00that has led him to be a three-time Monster Energy Supercross track.

05:12Yeah, Rick, I just wanted to add to what you were talking about there.
05:14You know, we're all kind of hypothesizing,
05:16but if you think about the conditions at A1,
05:18everybody was searching for traction.
05:21It's a really hard base, really loose on top,
05:24which is really difficult to kind of find certainty.
05:27And we talked about how well Eli Tomac's KTM looked.
05:30He was just so planted.
05:31It looked like he kind of could do whatever he wanted
05:33where everybody else was struggling a bit.
05:35But with so much more traction here,
05:38maybe he just doesn't have that edge that he had over everybody.
05:41The higher traction levels have kind of negated the advantage he had at A1.
05:45Yeah, well said.
05:46Yeah, that advantage.
05:48And that's why, you know, like I was saying about the different condition here,
05:52it's going to work different.
05:54And again, if he had a massive advantage because of those conditions,
05:57well, it's gone away.
05:58Anderson on the Twisted T, Suzuki now under fire from Sexton.
06:04Anderson rides so well here at Anaheim.
06:07Battled near the podium two weeks ago at a podium last year.
06:11Hasn't won a race, though, since 2022.
06:13Can he hang on?
06:15Sexton is applying a lot of heat.
06:18And it's still early in this main event.

06:21These are the rides, though, that you just love to watch from Chase Sexton.
06:25And, you know, if he's able to do this every single weekend,
06:29he's winning all the time.
06:31And it's just the drive that he carries.
06:34He's right there.
06:35Showing a wheel to Anderson.
06:37They triple on together.

06:42Into the corner.
06:43Sexton has it.
06:45Anderson uses the outside.

06:47He frees out and gets him.

06:56He anticipated the form of Sexton making the move.

07:36And it's not going to help because Tomac is right there.

07:42And he's so good at guarding his position.
07:47Tomac got the inside.
07:53He tried.
07:54Hunter was able to get a good run through the whoops right there.
07:57I thought that Eli was going to get him, but Hunter stuck with it.
08:01And Eli did a good job too of not completely closing him out as well.
08:05And I want to point out Webb back there.

08:10And from a championship standpoint, 100% he does.
08:13Cooper Webb was the fastest guy around the track.

10:10He did get some physiotherapy from Dr. G during the break there in between racing.
10:14But I was told that he's banged up and he's kind of grazed up on his shoulder.
10:17They said all in all he's doing well, but he may be feeling the effects, as you guys said.

11:28And then when Eli tried to make that pass on Anderson, he ended up losing more time
11:33rather than if he would have probably followed Anderson through there.
11:37And that's what allowed Hunter just to get that much closer and make the move.
11:42Well, we stood there and watched it in practice.
11:44The jumps after the whoops, so critical.
11:47Yeah.
11:47Tomac couldn't get it.
11:48And then suddenly Lawrence was there.
11:50And now he's going to go back after Jason Anderson.
11:53Yeah, I mean, he's got to get by this dude.

13:46He's going to try to use the outside.

14:30Not wholesale changes, but it appears just enough.

14:43They've disposed of Anderson.
14:47And I mean, almost literally disposed.

14:50Tomac just cut across the ruts.

14:57I can tell you, if I'm a competitor, if I'm Eli Tomac, if I'm Chase Sexton or Hunter Lawrence,
15:08I do not want to see that number one start to get confidence.
15:14We've seen it happen in three championship occasions.

15:20Behind them, you've got Stewart battling it out with Savace.
15:24That is a battle for six.
15:25Savace, this time doing it without the good start and coming through the pack.
15:29And those are some huge names.
15:31The man of the quad lock, Honda, rolling right out.
15:34Yeah, doing it the hard way.
15:36Not a surprise, though.
15:37I mean, this guy has plenty of ability to run where he's running.
15:40It seems like he believes in himself.

15:43I think that's building too, Ricky.
15:45He told me today, he's like, you know, that fifth to eighth is the goal.
15:48But he's like, the fifth last week, that was great.
15:50He's like, I almost kind of need a result buffer, if you like.
15:53He's like, because when I get to the front there, and I get into those positions, I don't really want to force things forward too much.
15:59He's like, that next pack of riders, that's tough to get to.
16:01He's like, but I find consistently in that fifth, sixth, seventh spot.
16:04He's like, then the moment comes, and I'm sitting there, and I can go, all right, let's push and see what I'm capable of.
16:09He just talked about it as putting those building blocks in place.
16:12So I'm going about this season very methodically, and I was praising the team for everything they've done for him.

16:28And we get our first look at Ken Roxen, who was basically last when this race started.
16:35Yeah, he went down on his own early on in this race, but working hard.
16:40He's catching up to the back of pack of guys that are going to be really tough to get by.
16:45Yeah.
16:47Hopefully, he'll be able to use one of those split lanes to his advantage.
16:50That's what's nice about those split lanes is it gives you an easier opportunity to make a move,
16:55especially this inside right here.
16:58Once it gets grooved in and there's an established line, he'll be able to use that.
17:03And Roxen, a title contender early this year, needs these points as Prado goes after Stewart.
17:10Again, he's got to be hurting.
17:11That'll move Prado up.
17:13Prado's showing he can do it without the start.
17:17Got fired and ended up 13th last week, but moving up with authority this time on the 26th.
17:25And the lead down to 2.3 up front between Lawrence and Sexton.
17:32And there is Roxen making moves.
17:35Let's check in with the leader.
17:36Now the gap down to two seconds.
17:38Yeah, one thing about it, though, at this level, I mean, and what I've learned completely different
17:43to, like, when Stu and I was racing, is these guys are so good.
17:47Oh, that lapper, Mitchell Harrison, slowing up.
17:51Hunter, going back to what I was saying is that these guys are good at, like, getting a two,
17:55two-and-a-half-second lead and just maintaining that gap.
17:58So it's always tough for me to tell, like, is he just, you know, is he maintaining what
18:03he's got or is he actually losing time because he's not the best guy right now.
18:10Well, that lap traffic might have made that debate even harder to figure out because the
18:13lead is back to 2.7 just with that one incident alone.

19:35He's got to get going here because Savace, who's been riding well, is, you can see, not too far back.

21:12And mentally, now knowing, again, giving that affirmation that he can go out there and still be the guy that he's always been.
