00:00The number one to Hayden Deegan.
00:02You heard the man Ricky Carmichael, anybody knows about winning, it's that guy.
00:06The starts have to be a little bit better.
00:08Hayden knows that, but I think he's a little bit too focused on it at times.
00:12He knows it's been a problem.
00:13I believe it's in his head at this point where he's thinking about the start.
00:16So much emphasis on the start.
00:18He just needs to trust himself, trust his skill set, and let it happen,
00:22and the rest of the race will take care of itself.
00:24But JT, he is not alone because the 47 of Levi Kitchen,
00:28he didn't get a great start there that led to a fourth in the heat race.
00:32We also saw him with a crash earlier on in the day in qualifying.
00:36I did get to speak to him here in the break when the LCQs were running,
00:39and he said he was a little sore earlier, but nothing that's bothering him now.
00:42But he's aware that he has to get out there and get a better start.
00:44He said, apart from that, I'm feeling good and ready to go.
00:47All right, how about the 20-year-old from Idaho?
00:50Chance Hymas aboard the Honda HRC machine.
00:53He only was on the podium once last year, and that was a victory.
00:57He's already stood on the podium this season at A1 last weekend.
01:02He lost his rhythm early in the heat and then had to kind of play catch-up.
01:06If he can get off to a swift start, get in a groove early,
01:10this guy could be standing on the podium back-to-back weekends.
01:16Second round of the 250 West Divisional Championship.
01:20Revs rise, ready to go here in San Diego. Let's do it!
01:29Kitchen squashed in on the inside. Oh, and he goes down!
01:34It's his teammate McAdoo who's fighting with Anstey, but Kitchen went down on the inside.
01:39Two weeks in a row. He did it at Anaheim 1.
01:42A little better start for Hayden Deegan.
01:48He got through that first curve well. He's wheeling down the start straight.
01:51I thought he was going to be buried, and he's not.
01:54Great start, Cameron McAdoo on the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
01:59The 1.42. This is exactly what he needed.
02:03He's ahead of Deegan and Hymas. Max Voland is there.
02:07It was Hunter Yoda who went down with Kitchen. You may have noticed that a little earlier.
02:11Some of these guys need to control their emotions right now.
02:15It's a 15-minute race plus one lap.
02:19A lot of laps left. Sometimes you got to keep your composure. Let the race come to you.
02:28Let's go and find Levi Kitchen. Where is he? How far back is he?
02:32There he is right there in the traffic.
02:36Salt to injury.
02:39So here's the replay. Decent start up the inside. Everything is good.
02:44Now watch. He just tucks the front end.
02:47Leans the bike over. Pushes the front JT.
02:52Ricky, it's a carbon copy of last weekend, and we've talked about it all night long.
02:56It's these little things that are holding him back.
02:59The hard part, the talent, the skill, all the hard work is all there for him to be a champion in this class.
03:04But if he continues to put himself in these positions on opening laps,
03:08it's almost impossible. And for Levi Kitchen, no one knows that more than him right now.
03:13So two weekends in a row, it's nothing but damage control here at Irwin.
03:16Well, that's right. You hit the nail on the head and it's, you know, it's about, you have to predict that, especially, I mean, I seem like he would be aware after what happened last week.
03:26And I just hate it for him because these regional championships, you don't have a lot of races.
03:31Oh, look at Hymas.
03:32So Deegan's gone through to second. McAdoo is holding on to third.
03:36He's trying to defend that from Hymas, who's intensifying the pressure.
03:40Yeah, these regional championships, you don't have a lot of races to dig yourself out of a hole if you get too far behind on points.
03:47The reason I was gonna say great to see Cameron McAdoo out there after last week running up front.
04:00He was asked about the number that he's got. And there is a bittersweet story.
04:08This is dedicated to a friend when he was young, Isabel Coob, who was a young motor rider.
04:15She tragically lost her life. And he said, I want to run this number and I want to take it to the stadiums under the lights where she never, you know, got herself.
04:24That's right. And that's a beautiful message from Cameron McAdoo, who has a child on his way.
04:30He and his wife Maddie, they have a child on their way here themselves. Will?
04:35Lee, I'm just looking at Ansi up front, his teammate Hayden Deegan next to him, and then Moswin down in fifth.
04:41The three of them have actually been riding this week, part of the week out at Hayden Deegan's new compound that he's had now for a couple of weeks.
04:49And he's got a San Diego set up there, a layout.
04:52Now, you'd think after his teammate Max Ansi taking the win last week, there'd be reason to say, hey, I'm going to keep this to myself.
04:58But no, Hayden Deegan invited those guys over and they got some time on the track there to get used to before coming here to Southern California.
05:06Bottom box, Kitchen still working his way through the traffic and trying to break into the top ten.
05:12And he's working on rider DeFrancisco, who was on the podium last week, but the rock star Husky rider's got some work to do.
05:18Well, and Schwartz, that was in the last chance. He's up in front in the top ten.
05:23So good start for him early on in this race. And Levi right here making some good moves early on.
05:30Those will definitely pay off from a points perspective. Rider D a little bit further back than last week.
05:36So it's going to be a lot of fun and interesting to see how far he can also march up the field.
05:47Hey, Ricky, so watching this battle here, we know the math on the points if Hayden Deegan can get around Ansi and win this race or vice versa.
05:54But on the mental aspect of this, how much value do you put on this for Deegan having to make this pass after the ride that Ansi put in last weekend?
06:03Not so much. I think that, you know, I think that Hayden is super confident in himself and his abilities and he's good at playing the long game as well.
06:12But I almost think it's bigger for Ansi from a mental side, depending on how the results play out.
06:21Oh, that was an interesting line that Levi took, but worked out well.
06:25But I think it's bigger mentally for Max, depending on if he wins or gets overtaken by his teammate.
06:31So it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Max is holding that base, but about a half second there.
06:36Great question. A little bubble there for Hayden Deegan, but he hung onto it through the whoops over the tabletop.
06:43This is where Deegan's been blisteringly fast right through there.
06:46And if you're Max, you know, I talked about it, said the same thing in the heat race, Lee, that Max just needs to ride his pace.
06:54And if he gets overtaken by his teammate, you play, you know, you play the championship game, live the fight another day, and it's a good points day.
07:02Oh, here goes a pass.
07:05For the lead, the teammates, Monster Energy Star Yamaha.
07:10Almost a carbon copy. That was good for Hayden to roll out there.
07:15How hard will Ansi fight this? He's looking over, he's looking over.
07:18Oh, and his front wheel gets taken out from under him.
07:21Oh, that's, that's tough. Hayden slid his rear tire up into Max's front tire, takes Max down. He's going to have to get going. Doesn't lose too many spots right here.
07:34McAdoo went by, Hymas went by, Moseman went by. So now the catch up, he's got just under nine minutes as he adjusts his clutch to get back up and fight for a podium.
07:45Meanwhile, McAdoo and Hymas are still going at it. Now we're talking about second and third, instead of third and fourth.
07:52Great ride for Hymas as well. And, you know, you talk about Hymas' career and journey and what that's been like. I think it'd be super important for him.
07:59Number one, he said he wanted to make it through the whole season. Hasn't been able to do that. That's, this is a contract here.
08:06Just let these races come to him and be there every single weekend up on that box and continue to build. I think would be huge. Looks like he's doing that right now.
08:16Doesn't look like he's on the limit right now, like he's overriding the machine. It's very comfortable.
08:27Under Yoda, what a shame. Had a brilliant heat race and he is back on the edge of the track. It's game done and he is frustrated. Can't believe it.
08:41Can't believe it. Back to it, though. Deegan McAdoo, Hymas, top three, Mosman, Anstey. Then Levi Kitchen has made his way all the way back up to sixth.
08:51Ahead of Ryder DeFrancisco. And then Lux Turner, who's having a good run in the top ten.
08:56This will be better. This could be a career best for Lux if he stays there, ahead of Dylan Schwartz and Anthony Burden.
09:03And we're over the halfway mark. Quick reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Ralphs.
09:08We mentioned about the move by this man, Chance Hymas, back closer to being with family.
09:18It was an important off-season move away from Florida. Let's hear more about that now from the man himself.
09:23Yeah, I'm still spending time in both places, but ultimately for me, it's just being close to family.
09:30Growing up and doing so much with my parents and my family, my brothers, racing as an amateur and kind of moving away from that and being 36 hours across the country.
09:39It's hard, you know, and I love being around my family and it brings a lot of value to my life.
09:43So I think ultimately for me, it's just made me happier. And obviously when you're happy and you're doing your job, everything just kind of goes smoothly sometimes.
09:50So I think for me, it's just been a good mood change being back with those guys and being around my family and, you know, just kind of just making the grind simple.
09:59Yeah, so far, so good for making that change. And you know what, I give kudos to him for recognizing what he needed to do to try to make some improvements there.
10:11And you know what, everybody has their own thing that makes them feel comfortable. And for him, it's the family. And again, looking pretty good. Will?
10:19He's looking really good, isn't he? And the comfort, Ricky, that you talked about and you just mentioned there, that's matched in his bike and where he's at with the team too.
10:28I was chatting to them earlier and they said he hasn't touched the bike. He basically went back to Mesquite at the beginning of this week, rode there all week, haven't touched anything since last weekend.
10:37It was just a clicker here and there, which they then went back on for the main event. So just in a happy place of himself and in a good spot on the bike.
10:44Yeah, when I'm watching him right here, he seems to have some good composure and he's not pushing it, override the bike.
10:52I mean, he's just as fast as Cameron, but it seems like he's letting it come to him and waiting for that opportunity to open.
10:59As I say that, he slips up in that double going into the corner right there. But still, I like the patience that he's showing.
11:06A lot of racing left here. Anything can happen. But I'll tell you what, Boseman's knocking on the door. He's made up some time on these two guys.
11:15And he's in fifth. This is exactly where he finished last week. Here he is. He's starting to make some meaningful ground on Chance Hymas.
11:24And then how about Max Anstey? Where's Max? When does he join the picture? We'll see. There's just under five minutes plus a lap to go in this San Diego 250 West main event.
11:36Yeah, Max is, you know, 13 seconds off the lead and about five seconds back from this group right here.
11:44So he's got a lot of work to try to catch these guys. Something's going to happen. Has to happen for that.
11:49We've spoken about this before with Michael Moseman. He is a pretty talented pianist. Loves playing the piano.
11:56Right. So he gave the folks at Orange County Airport last Sunday morning when we were all there for our respective early morning flights.
12:04He decided to jump on the piano for the folks in the airport. I think JT sent us that, right? Yeah, it was pretty good.
12:11I mean, one night racing Supercross next morning playing the piano in the airport.
12:16Love it. Absolutely love it. A skillful man, that's for sure.
12:21Many talents.
12:25And a good solid start to this 2026 season if he can stay where he is in the top five, back to back top fives.
12:31That's nothing to sneeze at for a new campaign for a rider that's dealt with a lot of injury and a lot of highs and lows.
12:38Yeah. So this play, San Diego's been kind to him. This is where he won before.
12:42So we can continue to see if he can continue the positive vibes here.
12:46Meanwhile, his teammate. Oh, look. McAdoo has slowed and through goes Hymas.
12:50McAdoo tries to respond and does respond. Nice work, Cameron McAdoo.
12:55Great pass back by Cameron McAdoo like you just talked about right there, Lee.
12:59I didn't anticipate that happening once Hymas made the move, but he cuts back underneath, gets a good drive, triples into the corner to get back into second position.
13:09See what happens now with Moseman catching Hymas. It puts the pressure on Hymas to start getting it done.
13:16Remember I was talking about how Hymas was kind of looked like he was playing it cool behind McAdoo.
13:21Well, now he's going to have to get a little aggressive, start showing that front wheel in some of these corners, try to force McAdoo into a mistake.
13:31Otherwise, he's going to get passed by Moseman.
13:35Cameron only did three Supercross races last year because of that knee surgery.
13:40And he was on the podium the very first race last year when he did the East Division Championship.
13:46So this is going to be huge. A long time off the bike. Not much racing over the last 12 months.
13:52So this is massive and here's Moseman on Hymas! Hymas!
13:56Wow.
13:57That is a huge escape.
13:59That was scary to see on my, oh boy, you see him.
14:03The body English he was doing. That bike was rotating him to go over the handlebars.
14:10And that was an incredible save.
14:14And look, here is Max Anstey and Levi Kitchen going at it.
14:19I mean, he's got to thank his lucky stars that he ended in the tough blocks or it didn't end up a lot worse.
14:26That was an incredible save. The strength that he had to have.
14:29That had over the bars written all over.
14:32He threw it in.
14:33And that jump is so short and steep. I'm surprised we haven't seen him more.
14:37But watch how he's seat bounced at, compresses the suspension. Look at him.
14:40Wow.
14:41I mean, if he was two inches shorter, that bike goes, he goes over the handlebars.
14:48Great save.
14:49Unbelievable save. And here's Kitchen on the inside of Anstey. Anstey's getting the rough treatment tonight.
14:55First from his teammate and then from Levi Kitchen. So the A1 winner gets shuffled back again.
15:04And remember, Kitchen was on the ground. Turn one, lap one. And has fought his way back to fourth.
15:13A lot like he did last week. Remember, he caught up through the pack right here. And when we talked about it, these guys are so similar in speed that if you give up that track position early, it's going to be hard to make up a lot of ground and probably going to flatten out right here in the fourth position.
15:30Going to have about two more laps left. Got two and a half laps left to go once they cross the stripe.
15:41We haven't spoken about the race leader Hayden Deegan in quite a while. He has a massive lead over Cameron McAdoo.
15:48And then his star Yamaha teammate, Michael Moseman, who has one foot on the podium. Here is McAdoo and Moseman.
15:57Two guys who will gladly take a podium.
16:01This is such a feel-good story for both of these guys.
16:04You think about, Lee, like you were talking about the injuries that both of these riders have had.
16:10They're a bit older. Some of the older riders in this 250 West division as well.
16:16And just to see them, the resiliency and bounce back.
16:20Going to go back to Arlington mid-Supercross season.
16:24Last year was the last time Michael Moseman stood on a podium and even longer for Cameron McAdoo, as I mentioned a little earlier.
16:33So this is huge for these two riders' respective seasons.
16:36Kitchens right there. A couple seconds off. You can see right there, poked into the screen.
16:43Well, and that underscores what an amazing comeback ride it has been from Levi Kitchen.
16:50Final lap. White flag has been displayed. Hayden Deegan is on his way home.
16:55What a ride by Hayden.
16:58Going to be interesting to see what Max has to say about a little bit of a contact made.
17:05Nevertheless, so this guy rode a picture-perfect race outside of getting the hole shot.
17:11Waited, waited, was lurking, made the move, and checked out.
17:17He's on a Sunday cruise, Lee.
17:19Yeah, won his heat race very comfortably.
17:22The now 20-year-old, we can no longer say teenager Hayden Deegan, is super comfortable out in front.
17:29He's looked so at ease on this track ever since his first laps were turned.
17:35And here he is, danger boy, Hayden Deegan, wins in San Diego.
17:40He wins earlier than he did last year.
17:43And a great result for Cameron McAdoo.
17:46The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider back on the podium,
17:50ahead of Michael Moseman and his teammate Levi Kitchen.
17:56Wow, what an effort.
