00:00And I think he's ready to rip. I mean, you just have to think that that age certainly has a huge advantage against the guys that he's racing against.
00:10Use anything you can to your advantage.
00:15Tell us more about his teammate and rival, Hayden Deegan, JT, if you would.
00:20Well, I think there were a lot of expectations for Hayden Deegan going into last weekend for him to come out and dominate this championship.
00:25But if you look historically, the first four rounds of the series really haven't been his thing.
00:30That may continue to be the case with him not getting on the podium.
00:33You see there, 2024, 7.5 average finish down to 2.8 the second half of the season.
00:39Last year, improvement, but still not where it needed to be.
00:42That first round in Anaheim, more of the same, a fourth play.
00:45So I really want to try to break that trend and have a breakout night here in San Diego.
00:49Yeah, I think for me, what I'm looking forward to watching is if Hayden's able to improve on his starts based on last week.
00:56He's got to be better there.
00:58And I know that he has the speed.
01:00We all know that.
01:01Everybody knows that.
01:02And see what he can do.
01:03But that is the first thing is how is he going to do on the start?
01:07It's a great point, JT, because he didn't win until round three last year, which was Anaheim 2.
01:12And that's coming up next weekend on the Monster Energy AMA Supercross calendar.
01:17Right of DeFrancisco, first career podium, out wide by 34th, fourth from the left there.
01:27We'll see what kind of a start he can get into this first right-hander.
01:32Refs are up, ready to go.
01:35Heat 2, 250 West here in San Diego.
01:40Anstey gets the best start.
01:42Moseman's tucked in behind.
01:43Somebody's down very quickly.
01:45I think that was Justin Rodbell who went down.
01:49Deegan on the inside.
01:50It's the three teammates.
01:51One, two, and three.
01:53These Monster Energy star Yamaha bikes have been known for the power that they make.
01:59And this is a true display of that right there.
02:01Great start for these guys.
02:03A decent start for Hayden as well.
02:06Oh, look at his teammate, Moseman.
02:08Perfect pass.
02:10Hayden slips up, isn't able to do that triple.
02:12Michael's going to have the advantage right here because he's on the inside.
02:17Takes the middle line.
02:20Oh, nice drive for Hayden through the whoops.
02:23Coming in extremely fast.
02:24Look at how he wheel taps four over those whoops right there.
02:29Well, this is a special place for Michael Moseman.
02:38That's where his only career win came back in 2022.
02:42So happy memories, good memories.
02:44And he had a solid ride last weekend as well.
02:46Well, he did.
02:47And he told us in the off season, you know, one thing that he worked on was his communication with the race team
02:52and being a little bit more open and not blaming himself and trying to prove the bike, Will.
02:57Speaking to that very race team today, Ricky, they were so proud of Michael Moseman.
03:03They were proud of the whole team.
03:04Obviously, Max Anstey there, that guy winning.
03:06But they said, honestly, it was Moseman who impressed him the most.
03:09Because if you remember, he had to come through the LCQ.
03:12And then he ended up coming in fifth.
03:14And they said to get back to that point, honestly, just showed mental fortitude.
03:18So they said proud of him, proud of the whole team.
03:19Yeah, incredible ride.
03:22And, again, he's always contested for wins and been somewhat of a championship guy.
03:27He's just had a hard time keeping it off the ground.
03:30And it's great to see a good opening round like you were talking about,
03:33like the team was talking about at Anaheim last week.
03:36And if he can continue to put in those podium-style rides,
03:40I think that he'll see himself on the top step eventually.
03:43Here's a good scrap.
03:44And the Toyota Redlands, Bar X, Yamaha of Parker Ross up against last weekend's podium man,
03:54Ryder D.
03:55Ryder D Francisco on that Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna.
03:58And Ryder D goes by.
03:59Straightforward move on the inside.
04:01And that's to grab fifth.
04:02Yeah, I'm pumped for Ryder D.
04:04Just an incredible ride last week.
04:06And it's tough to do when you're out front and you've got guys like Max Anstey out there
04:11who has wins under his belt.
04:13And, of course, Chance Hymas.
04:15He's a winner.
04:16And he hung tough.
04:18Great job.
04:19Didn't get a chance to complete this in full earlier,
04:21so we're going to remind you again about SMX betting and DFS gaming.
04:25It's back for 2026.
04:26New sports book bonuses and prop markets are live right now.
04:30Scan the flow code on your screen.
04:31Visit nxtbets.com slash playmx to see what's available in your area and claim bonus offers.
04:38Always play responsibly, please.
04:39And remember, with every race, there's another chance to win big with Super Motocross.
04:45So Max Anstey leads by less than a second over his teammate.
04:48That's nice and tight.
04:49And then Michael Moseman and then Cameron McAdoo in a solid four.
04:53And this is the battle that I wanted to see right here.
04:55I mean, not that I was questioning Hayden's speed,
04:59but you didn't get to see it against the race winner last week, obviously.
05:03So this is a lot of fun to watch.
05:04Now, these guys train together at the star facility.
05:08So another day at the practice track right here.
05:13I think if you're Max, you just got to focus on you.
05:16You know how good Hayden is.
05:18Just hit your marks, and whatever happens, happens.
05:25Here we go.
05:25Hayden Deegan attempted it.
05:28It was close.
05:29They're side by side now.
05:31Anstey and Deegan.
05:32Anstey loses momentum and rhythm.
05:36Great pass by Hayden Deegan right there.
05:38And I think that pass initiated in that left-hander.
05:41He kind of scared Anstey a little bit.
05:44Anstey had to check up, and he couldn't get over the backside of that tabletop
05:47and go triple, triple, triple after that.
05:49And he makes a move.
05:51So the green lead alight now, fully displayed on bike one, Hayden Deegan.
05:57Keep your eye on Anstey to see if he's able to follow suit behind Hayden Deegan.
06:02This would be a great learning point for Anstey that he could pay forward in the main event.
06:08See where Deegan is a little bit faster.
06:11See the different lines.
06:14JT.
06:14Yeah, and Ricky, you guys talked about this is the battle you wanted to see.
06:20It's the same for me, and for maybe different reasons, though,
06:23because if you look at strengths and weaknesses,
06:25we talked about Levi Kitchener earlier putting himself in tough positions.
06:28Well, that has been a strength of Max Anstey.
06:30He's such a consistent starter.
06:33And maybe for Hayden Deegan, too, that's something he needs to work on.
06:35You talked about inconsistent starts.
06:37Yes, he can get the whole shot, but it seems to be hit and miss.
06:40And also, I would say the whoops, it has been an area that Hayden has been working to improve,
06:44but you could say it's been a weakness over the course of his career.
06:47Not so much for Max Anstey as he enters them right now.
06:50It has been a strength for him.
06:52So this is really strength versus weakness,
06:54and I have to give Hayden a lot of credit here
06:56because he seems to be turning those strengths against him.
06:59And these guys have cleared out.
07:01Deegan is starting to leave Anstey.
07:02They've left their other teammate, Michael Moseman, by more than almost five seconds.
07:07And then Cameron McAdoo.
07:08This is a good stabilizer right for McAdoo, too.
07:10You may remember last weekend, he was right near Hayden Deegan in the mate event and went down.
07:15And here he is here on the 142 as he works in on Michael Moseman.
07:21In his comeback after a big injury last year with his knee and surgery,
07:27it's been a long road.
07:28So Cameron McAdoo takes every step, you know, important step on this recovery road.
07:35Well, and he said, you know, he owes so much to this race team.
07:39They've been so supportive with him and understanding about these injuries and tough wrecks that he's had.
07:46And they've stood behind him, this Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.
07:50And he said that, you know, he wants to go out there and just, you know,
07:54pay Mitch Payton back, team owner and principal of this race team.
07:58And I can understand that.
08:00He's got plenty of speed to do it.
08:02Although, with how competitive this 250 West division is,
08:07the starts are going to be so important because you just cannot afford to give up
08:12that track position early on because everybody is so close.
08:17It's not like you have a big speed advantage.
08:19So it's hard to come up through the pack.
08:22It was frustrating last weekend because he finished second in the heat
08:24and then 22nd in the main event.
08:28He's got Ryder DeFrancisco starting to eat in to his position here.
08:32So this is going to be close over this closing lap between Moesman.
08:35Whoa, McAdoo got clobbered there, got hit by Ryder DeFrancisco.
08:39Yeah, I don't know.
08:40I don't think that Ryder De was anticipating for McAdoo to turn down and exit that early
08:45coming out of that corner.
08:47Racing incident right there, but that'll be something that Ryder De will take into account.
08:55Just looking down the order a little bit, Ricky Hunter Schlosser was in 10th last week.
09:00He'll be hoping to hang on to this ninth spot so he can go all the way.
09:03He's got a good margin over Slade Virola at the moment,
09:06so he can see his passage through to the main event if he stays where he is on this last lap.
09:11Keep an eye on this rhythm lane.
09:13We talked about it earlier in the first heat race.
09:16He's got to be able to go triple, triple, triple here or double-double,
09:22depending on what you think is faster.
09:24As he did last week in Anaheim, Hayden Deegan wins his heat here in San Diego.
09:29His teammate Max Anstey follows him home.
09:32Michael Moesman is almost there, and so too this man here, Cameron McAdoo,
09:36fourth and Ryder De, fifth.
09:41That was a good little battle.
09:42Sure was.
09:43You'll probably tell Cameron, hey, dude, sorry about that.
09:46Didn't mean it.
09:47There you go.
09:50We have a beautiful.
