00:00The World Series rematch has been a replay of last year's fall classic for the first two games.
00:07The Dodgers have absolutely flexed, beating the Yankees badly.
00:11And in front of what should be another packed crowd, it's the last meeting of the regular season
00:15for two of the best teams and storied franchises in the game.
00:19And you see Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers here.
00:21There'll be his 12th start on the year, and boy, that is some kind of numbers he's throwing up there.
00:26An under-two ERA right at the top tells you a lot.
00:30Got great control, great precision, tough to hit.
00:34And the way you put up great numbers is to keep the ball in the park and on the ground.
00:37He's done that really well.
00:39One down, nobody on three-two pitch.
00:40Swing on, line drive, left center field, better get down.
00:43Face hit in and Grishma to a good start.
00:45And he'll bring up Aaron Judge.
00:47Judge gets underneath it and pops it up a mile high to Freeman in foul territory, and it finally comes down.
00:54Certainly got away with one up in this home.
00:56And that's not where you want to live with Aaron Judge.
00:58Walk from Yamamoto, and it will be first and second for Jason Dominguez.
01:04He swings.
01:04That's going to get down in left field in front of Paz.
01:07They'll wave.
01:08Grisham, the throw is way too high.
01:11And the Yankees got a 1-0 lead down to second.
01:14And he will be safe as the ball comes out of the glove.
01:18So Dominguez goes to second.
01:20They move up the runner to third.
01:22Rice, and it's 1-0 Yankees.
01:25Yamamoto's throw to second on the money.
01:28One of the training techniques that Yamamoto uses is to throw a javelin.
01:32I mean, the crow hop made me think of this is what he does when he throws the javelins.
01:36That is the second walk of the inning issued by Yamamoto, and the bases are now loaded for New York.
01:42This is as out of sorts as we have seen Yoshinobu Yamamoto all year.
01:46That's how high the bar has been for him, to be fair and to be clear.
01:511-0 New York.
01:52Bases loaded, two out.
01:54Austin Wells, the catcher in the seventh spot of the order.
01:56First pitch swinging.
01:57Ground ball to second in the glove of Kike.
01:59He sets his feet and throws to Freeman for the last out.
02:02And so the Yankees leave them loaded, but they do strike first.
02:05Here's Ohtani, and he will dig in against the lefty, Ryan Yarbrough.
02:08A lot of finesse from Yarbrough, and the Yankees know him well from his days with the Tampa Bay Rays.
02:13On the 1-2 to Ohtani.
02:15Oh boy, filthy pitch on a changeup.
02:18And Shohei, who struggled yesterday in that 18-run game by the Dodger offense, strikes out.
02:24And a nice start, Ryan Yarbrough.
02:261-2-3, soft contact as well.
02:28We go to the second.
02:29Pajas with hits and RBIs in each of the last five games.
02:34It's wrong with two strikes for most of the year.
02:35Can he do it here?
02:36The 2-2.
02:37He fillets it the other way.
02:39A flare down the right field line.
02:40Slices onto the warning track.
02:41Andy Pajas will make the turn and head for two.
02:44He'll have it standing up.
02:45A one-out double.
02:47Now Tommy Edmond.
02:48And runner breaks for third.
02:49Got a great jump.
02:50Here's a throw by Wells.
02:51It's in time.
02:52They got him.
02:53Nice tag by Peraza on the fine throw by Austin Wells.
02:57Two down here in the second.
02:58That was a thing of beauty.
02:59Perfectly done by Peraza.
03:01If you're going to attempt to steal third base in a spot like this,
03:04you better be 100% certain.
03:07What are you doing?
03:08So the base is wiped clear, and that's out number two.
03:11You know what's coming now, right?
03:13Tommy Edmond at the plate.
03:14Tommy Edmond hits a high fly ball.
03:16Left field going back toward the wall.
03:18It is out of here.
03:20Tommy ties it with a tank into the Dodger bullpen.
03:25Ninth of the season for Edmond.
03:27He rounds the bases and ties the game at one.
03:30That's the good news.
03:31It could have and should have been better news.
03:35But alas, Pajas was thrown out.
03:36So it's only a 1-1 game.
03:38New ball game as we go to the third.
03:40Aaron Judge will lead off for the Yankees in this 1-1 game.
03:42Yamamoto is not as sharp as we normally see.
03:45And there is the leadoff walk.
03:47Cut the emotion right there in Yamamoto after that pitch.
03:50He certainly wanted that to be located differently.
03:53One on, nobody out.
03:54Ben Rice at the plate.
03:55That word has gotten around about Mr. Rice
03:57who can really square up a fastball.
04:00And a pitch from Yamamoto.
04:01Swung on and set the center field in deep.
04:03Going back, Edmond.
04:05Looking at it and say goodbye.
04:07Up on the net.
04:08Into the batter's eye.
04:09A two-run homer for Ben Rice.
04:11And the Yankees now have a 3-1 lead.
04:13Home run number 12.
04:14RBIs 24-25.
04:17And he left a splitter up right there,
04:19which is as good as a fastball,
04:20except he didn't move.
04:22Went 425 feet.
04:24Exit below of 107.4.
04:27That's fast enough.
04:29Third home run.
04:30Given up to a left-hand batter by Yamamoto.
04:33It can hit.
04:34It is impressive.
04:35Back-to-back singles.
04:36Now the Yankees in business again already up 3-1.
04:40Strikeout number one for Yamamoto.
04:41Comes in the third inning.
04:43He gets Oswald Peraza, the nine-hole hitter.
04:45Oh, that one gets away.
04:46He bounced it and coming in from third is Volpe.
04:49A big mistake from Yamamoto.
04:51In the Yankees' lead now goes the 4-1.
04:53Yamamoto finally gets Peraza.
04:55He does it with a curve.
04:56So back-to-back K's to end the third inning.
04:59But the Yankees put a crooked number on the board.
05:02Back here, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Dave Roberts having a moment.
05:07That was a struggle tonight.
05:08No doubt about it.
05:08Three and two-thirds.
05:09The four runs, all of them earned.
05:11Second walk of the inning from Bonda.
05:13Fifth of the game by Dodger pitchers.
05:15Dave Roberts.
05:16Seen enough.
05:17So Trevino is on.
05:18He's about to run against the Guardians in his last start.
05:20Had six straight scoreless prior to that.
05:22And it's DJ LeMahieu with one out.
05:24Swung on.
05:25Little looper in the left field.
05:27That will get down.
05:28Flying is Dominguez.
05:29He's going to score without a throw.
05:31Bobbling out there as the left fielder Paez.
05:34An RBI single.
05:35DJ LeMahieu and a 5-1 Yankee lead here in the fifth.
05:40Good two-strike hitting.
05:41Here's another one that's going to find the grass.
05:44And another RBI.
05:46A sinker that didn't sink enough.
05:48And it's all Yankees tonight on Sunday night.
05:51They lead at 6-1.
05:52The bottom of the order contributes Peraza.
05:55An RBI single.
05:56The Yankees have been so consistent tonight.
05:58They've had seven hits with two strikes.
06:01So back-to-back punch-outs from Trevino getting Goldschmidt and Grisham to strand a pair.
06:05But the pair on.
06:07It already hit RBI base hits.
06:09A potential story may be this.
06:11The slide from Jason Dominguez.
06:14He's got one oven mitt on.
06:16And then as you watched Aaron Boone come out of the dugout,
06:19he was telling the home plate umpire, we got an injury.
06:22We have an injury, and he was going to pinch it.
06:24I just heard from the Yankees, his left thumb contusion.
06:27Okay.
06:27Okay, so he had an absolutely ridiculous oven mitt on the right hand.
06:32But he went into the bag with the one that's not protected.
06:37Now that, to me, is absolutely ridiculous.
06:40But it is a pretty good sliding mitt, though.
06:41That's right.
06:42And Yarbrough, here he is in a six.
06:44He is just flummoxing these hitters.
06:46Just off speed, hitting corners, changing speeds, no pitch pattern.
06:51Aaron Boone absolutely loves him.
06:52Says he fit right into the clubhouse, willing to do anything, obviously.
06:56Fills new life here with the Yankees.
06:58Swing and a miss.
06:58He strikes him out on the slider in on his hand.
07:02That is outstanding.
07:03That's the fifth strikeout.
07:05And a 1-2-3-6 thrown by Ryan Yarbrough.
07:09Boy, is he getting some out of boys in that dugout.
07:11He's got a 6-1 lead over the Dodgers here in L.A.
07:14Yarbrough out.
07:15Jonathan Lewiseka is in.
07:17See what the mindset of the Dodgers offense is.
07:19Least left field toward the corner.
07:22It stays fair.
07:23And it is gone.
07:25Andy Paz has jumped on the first pitch from Lewiseka.
07:29He's gone deep in back-to-back games.
07:33His home run is a solo shot.
07:35And his 11th of the year makes it 6-2.
07:39Well, does that open the lid and say,
07:41Hey, look, there's some more base hits.
07:44Coming your way.
07:45Muncie about face.
07:49His third in two nights.
07:51And a couple of homers have brought the Dodgers life in this one.
07:55It's 6-3.
07:56He is the story of the weekend.
07:58Max Muncie's back.
07:59And for the Dodgers, that is big news.
08:01Not looking for the rock, but looking for damage.
08:05A little more tense on that side than it was a few minutes ago.
08:08Here comes a 1-2 pitch to Kike Hernandez.
08:11Swing it on this top of the zone.
08:13They beat him on that, and they needed that out.
08:15That was a good speed.
08:16He's at second with two outs and a 2-0 count to LeMahieu.
08:19This one is driven to right field.
08:20Teoscar back, still back at the wall.
08:23Bounces off the base of it.
08:25DJ LeMahieu, what a night.
08:27Max Muncie was the big story coming out of this thing.
08:29Four hits for DJ LeMahieu.
08:31And if those two guys can get back to anywhere near their normal production,
08:35what a huge lift that is for both sides.
08:38Tim Hill on for the final three outs.
08:40Top four in the Dodger order.
08:420 for 16.
08:44Something the fans here are not accustomed to seeing.
08:47Never.
08:48Here's 1-1 from Hill.
08:49Swing on line drive.
08:50Right at DJ.
08:51Victory for the New York Yankees.
08:537-3 win over the Dodgers.
08:55And that's how you bounce back after an 18-2 thrashing last night.
