Milne Feeds general manager Michael Tarling talks about a new product showing much potential for reducing methane emissions from sheep.
Transcript
00:00We're launching a product that reduces methane mitigation and carbon footprint on sheep production.
00:07And you've done some trial work, Michael. How long have you been looking at this product development?
00:12Yes, well we've had an extensive R&D program for about 20 years, but this product in particular,
00:17we've been looking at it for about three to four years. We've done several trials at company-owned facilities
00:23and we've got the results ready to go.
00:26And what are those results telling you?
00:28They're telling us that the methane production is reduced by 80% compared to grain-based feeding when using our new product.
00:38And then from extension from sheep you'll venture into cattle and...?
00:43Yes, our next stage after sheep will be beef cattle and then also dairy.
00:49And can you tell me how the process works?
00:52Not really, it's patent pending, so that's all I can say really, other than it was developed in-house by our own team.
01:00And it's not helpful.
01:01It is also a clean issue of Siataka.
01:06It's not a clean issue.
01:08This year's the bond is not done.
01:10It's currently on the line.
01:13It has to be loose, but it's not a clean issue.
01:15And it's a clean issue.
01:16It has to be managed to keep the market.
01:17And it is reliable to keep the market.
01:19And it's not effective, however, it's not a clean issue.
