00:00What was your single favorite moment of the Texan season?
00:03This was the question that Mark Vandermeer and John Harris asked of D'Amico Ryans
00:07and his very final coaches show of the NFL season this year.
00:13And this was D'Amico Ryans' answer.
00:15Man, you got to, of course, start with the Thursday night versus the Bills.
00:18Yeah.
00:19I mean, the sea of red.
00:21I mean, and the defensive performance that the guys put on that game,
00:27you know, versus Josh Allen, that was, man, that was an outstanding game.
00:31I mean, the crowd was insane.
00:33So that was one of my favorite moments of the year.
00:37And then the moment of the year for me is the Jacksonville comeback
00:40when Davis leads us to victory and Rankin's getting a touchdown
00:45and a certain head coach running in the end zone, jumping like that.
00:48Jumping over a Jaguar.
00:50Oh, man, that was probably the most special moment, I would say,
00:55just for me as a head coach, like that was a really, really cool game to be a part of.
01:00Yeah.
01:01If I had to hone in on one moment in that Bills game,
01:03it was the Josh Allen retreat, you know, back and forth, back and forth,
01:10you know, before he got tackled.
01:13And not that necessary, although that was a great one for D'Amico.
01:17Mine, and I thought I was kind of like piling on here
01:20because of all the CJ talk we've had and everything,
01:23but a lot of texts are already coming in with mine.
01:26Mine is the actual CJ Stroud scramble to the piling, to pylon.
01:31Pilings are in the water.
01:32Sorry.
01:33Oh, I thought you just said it in a weird way.
01:36No, pilings are the ones in the water.
01:38Pylons are the ones on the football field.
01:39Okay.
01:40Today I learned.
01:41See, I'll listen to the podcast.
01:43Anyway.
01:44No, thank you.
01:45I'm just kidding.
01:45That run, that scramble was the moment for me.
01:50How about you?
01:51There was a couple of them that I was thinking of,
01:53but I tried to be very honest to what really emotionally, you know, sat with me.
01:59And it was still from that Battle Red Thursday night Buffalo game,
02:04but it was a third and six, the Buffalo second drive.
02:07Because coming into this game, remember, I was like, okay,
02:10historically you've had Josh Allen's number,
02:13but also how much can I use that year to year?
02:16Just be like, okay, well, Josh Allen.
02:17Is it still there?
02:18Is that going to happen?
02:20A third and six.
02:20Coming off a six touchdown game.
02:22Yes.
02:22A third and six, the seas had parted.
02:25Josh Allen is scrambling, stepping up in the pocket.
02:27I'm like, oh, goodness.
02:28Looking downfield, and here comes number 51, Will Anderson Jr.,
02:32and it's just a crunch.
02:34To the point where Josh Allen stays down.
02:37It looks like he might be hurt.
02:38He's holding his arm.
02:40I'm like, oh, goodness.
02:40This is still a thing, right?
02:43This is not just a coincidence of when they meet Josh Allen
02:48at NRGJ Stadium.
02:51This is a thing, and it happens because Will Anderson Jr.
02:54continues to pursue.
02:56Even when Josh Allen thinks he's free, he's not.
02:58He's still in the torch rack.
03:00That moment very viscerally landed with me.
03:02Yeah.
03:02Figgy, you got one single moment.
03:05And by the way, we're already getting some of these.
03:07It doesn't necessarily have to be, like, on the field or a moment that is.
03:10Yeah, because Sean's 100% was the after, which game was that, in fact,
03:15where it was outside on the road, and was that after the Kansas City game?
03:20Kansas City game, I think.
03:20Where Cal McNair has his hand up waiting for CJ to give him a high five,
03:24and he doesn't.
03:24And then the Houston, was this the start?
03:27Is this unfair for my brain to think this is the start of the Houston Texans media,
03:30like a social media team going on a real run, getting on a real hot streak?
03:35Yeah.
03:35Because that social media video they put out with Cal McNair just holding that hand up
03:40in his Inspector Gadget trench coat for the whole day until he got back to CJ Stroud,
03:45that was chef's kiss.
03:48Yeah.
03:48My on the field favorite moment is the Jalen Petrie hit on Rasheed Rice.
03:54Brother.
03:55Like, that play plays in my brain nonstop, man.
03:59I just remember Rasheed Rice trying to catch the ball,
04:02and he got hit so bad to the point, it looked like his arms was all over the place.
04:08And Mike Tirico was like, Petrie, J-Rice pop.
04:13And I was just like, man, that was a hell of a pop, man,
04:15the way he hit the ground and everything.
04:17You know how the NFL Films does a season recap video, you know,
04:21with the big voice guy at the end?
04:23That's going to be the first high line.
04:26That might – is it fair to say that was the greatest in Petrie's history?
04:32Has to be.
04:32That's the one I'm going to always go to, man, because he laid him out,
04:36especially with that big-ass helmet on.
04:39So, I thought that was good.
04:41The one that's off the field, and this one stuck with me in a weird way when D'Amico
04:47of Ryan's hit y'all with the – y'all good?
04:50Y'all good?
04:51Yeah.
04:51I got the little clip right here.
04:55You don't think you've gotten any positive stuff?
04:57Yeah, I was about to say that.
04:58You don't think you've gotten any praise at all?
05:01Guys, it's – what's your question?
05:04I'm just saying, everybody says negative.
05:06I said that's what people thrive on, is the negative stuff.
05:11You guys are good?
05:13You guys must be the next ones with the negative stuff.
05:17We're playing football.
05:18You talk about outside noise.
05:19I'll say it again.
05:20It doesn't matter.
05:21But for your first couple years and a half, you've gotten nothing but positive.
05:26It's going back and forth, man.
05:27When you say everybody wants to focus on the negative
05:30and not write about the positive, I don't know if that's –
05:34how is that accurate when you've been here for a couple years,
05:36you've got a lot of positive coverage.
05:38Play for it.
05:39You guys good?
05:42Why didn't I think of that one?
05:44That's a good one.
05:44You guys good?
05:45You guys good?
05:46That's as close to, like, an absolute meltdown as you will get from Domingo Wright.
05:52Yeah, and if I'm not mistaken, I'm trying to remember when was that
05:55because they – actually, that's when they kind of went on their winning streak, right?
05:59It was right in there.
05:59Yeah.
06:00I can't remember if that was after Seattle or –
06:03I can't remember around that time frame it was.
06:05Maybe it was late.
06:06Because I thought about getting some shirts that said –
06:10Y'all good?
06:11Y'all good?
06:12Another one, really, yesterday.
06:17If you're going to talk about not just a moment that sort of resonates and is going to linger,
06:22our offense is not a concern.
06:25I mean, our jaws hit the ground.
06:27They did.
06:28You know?
06:28I don't know if that's anybody – is that anybody's favorite moment?
06:31Well, more so memorable.
06:32Sure.
06:33But, you know, defining, however you want to put it, a defining moment of the season.
06:37I was flummoxed.
06:41I'm trying to find what, for me, was there a singular moment in this game?
06:47Because, you know, I'm trying to be true to the question here.
06:51But I feel like within me, I have to look at what was a 101-yard rushing game for Jawar Jordan.
06:58And I'm like, was there a singular moment where I was like, okay, here we go?
07:02Because this is personal validation here, which, you know, I can be selfish.
07:06It'd be like that sometimes.
07:07Is I still remember training camp being like, Jawar looks like he got something.
07:12And then, you know, I guess it's like, all right, well, maybe I'm missing something.
07:15Maybe I'm not seeing something.
07:16Seeing Jawar Jordan get out there and run the ball like that as a validation of, okay, so I wasn't crazy.
07:21Like, there's something there.
07:22That was a really cool moment for him.
07:25The way that the team rallied around him was cool.
07:27And then, personally, for me, being like, oh, okay, I was right.
07:29Cool.
07:29It was a good moment for me.
07:31That's right.
07:31That's what Reggie is saying.
07:32Without question.
07:34I mean, look, I did not run from that.
07:36I was very honest about that.
07:39For a lot of people, the Petrie is coming up.
07:41So, Davis Mills is one, especially him rolling and running to the pylon, going to get into the touchdown.
07:47Yeah.
07:48Pops up.
07:50Let's see.
07:52Danico.
07:54Danico Autry.
07:55There we go.
07:56Whew.
07:57Yeah.
07:57That one whooped my ass there.
07:58I'm going to be honest.
07:59Danico Autry almost killed the guard and Allen gets plastered to the turf.
08:03Absolutely.
08:04One that comes up here.
08:06When was the Stingley one-handed interception?
08:08Oh.
08:09Because that's when I went, whoa.
08:11Like, that doesn't happen with 99% of the cornerbacks.
08:15They might knock the ball down or something, but remember he reached out horizontally and
08:20scooped it back into his body?
08:22I forget what game that was.
08:25Was that the Raiders game?
08:28It was a badass play is what it was.
08:31Man, I hadn't even thought about that.
08:32Let's see.
08:34Something with Petrie leveled Henry.
08:35Oh.
08:37That is a good point.
08:38Like, it's tough going back to some of the times where we were still in the muck with
08:43this team.
08:44Man, Jayla Petrie was throwing hits, baby, this year.
08:46He got a lot of them.
08:47He got a lot of them.
08:48Yeah.
08:48Without question.
08:49That's a good one.
08:50I forget.
08:51Because they made Derrick Henry's life pretty hellacious.
08:54I think he said it on there, too.
08:56Like, that was the hardest hit I got.
08:58Yeah.
08:59Yeah.
08:59So, there you go.
09:00Somebody said, people don't remember, but Petrie popped Dalton Schultz when they played
09:04for the Cowboys, caught him really good.
09:05Oh, yeah.
09:06I definitely remember that one, for sure.
09:08But, yeah, somebody said, talking about the best points of the season makes me think
09:11of something, realize how close we were.
09:12All right.
09:12So, I was trying to be positive here, but, you know, I guess that is also another thing
09:16that you can look at in this moment.
09:18But, yeah.
09:18It was fun.
09:19There was definitely some fun points in the season.
09:21Keep sending in your fun points.
09:22Stings was the Jags game.
09:24Okay.
09:24Very good.
09:25Because I'm going to be honest.
09:27This is another place.
09:28That was the Jags game, too.
09:28My notes, my game was quite a turning point in the season, without question.
