00:00Please welcome the Chairman of the Board of Peace, the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump.
00:30Last October, we released a plan for the permanent end to the conflict in Gaza.
00:43And I'm pleased to say that our vision was unanimously adopted by the United Nations Security Council late last year.
00:52Under phase one of this plan, we have painstakingly maintained that Gaza, and we're going to have it very strongly,
00:59and that's what we have. Maintained the Gaza ceasefire, delivered record levels of humanitarian aid.
01:06We've given aid, you know, you used to hear all the people were starving and it was terrible.
01:11Now we have, you don't hear that anymore. We've delivered record levels of humanitarian aid.
01:17I want to thank the United States, but I want to thank some of the countries, some of the countries that are sitting right up here,
01:22because they've sent great aid, great aid also in the form of money, where we go out and purchase food.
01:30And you don't hear those stories anymore with people starving.
01:35And secured the release of all 20, you know, we secured the release of all 20 living hostages.
01:41Now I want to thank Steve Whitcoff and Jared and everybody for doing, working so hard.
01:45They worked so hard, but there were 20 remaining living hostages.
01:50Now we got hundreds out, but the last 20, I said, boy, that's going to be a tough one.
01:55I said that a year before, and it was a tough one, but we got them.
01:59Got all 20, every one of them.
02:01And we had also about 28 that were dead, but the parents wanted them just as though they were living, just as much.
02:12Some cases it almost seemed more.
02:14It was amazing, actually, the love.
02:17But their boy had been killed.
02:20In just about all cases, young men, their baby, their boy had been killed, and they wanted the body of their boy.
02:29And it looked like it couldn't be done.
02:32And with the exception of one, and we're close on the track of that, we've got them all, every single one of them, which is amazing.
02:41It's a rough job.
02:42That was a rough job.
02:43And I've been very clear that Hamas must return that last remaining deceased hostage as well, and that will be the full commitment.
02:55And then we get on to other things, and we're committed to ensuring Gaza is demilitarized, properly governed, and beautifully rebuilt.
03:04It's going to be a great plan, and that's where the Board of Peace really started.
03:08And I think we can spread out to other things as we succeed with Gaza.
03:13We're going to be very successful in Gaza.
03:16It's going to be a great thing to watch.
03:19As part of this historic record of major peace initiatives, today we're announcing more details regarding the Board of Peace.
03:27So important.
03:29This board has the chance to be one of the most consequential bodies ever created.
03:33And it's my enormous honor to serve as its chairman.
03:37I was very honored when they asked me to do it.
03:39We had an idea to do it, and then they came.
03:41They said, you be the chairman.
03:44But I take it very seriously.
03:46We have a great group of people and incredible young people that are leading it from within.
03:56It's running beautifully, started already.
03:59And every country, just about every country, wants to be a part of it.
04:04And we just sent out the letters a couple of days ago, and these are just the countries that are here.
04:10They happen to be in Davos.
04:12So we said, we'd be honored if you wanted to join us up on the stage.
04:17And it's really great.
04:20They're friends of mine.
04:20I think, let me see.
04:22Yeah, every one of them is a friend of mine.
04:26A couple, let's see, a couple I like, a couple I don't like.
04:32No, I like, actually, this group, I like every single one of them.
04:35Can you believe it?
04:35Usually I have about two or three that I can't stand.
04:39Usually I have two or three that I don't like.
04:41I don't find them up here.
04:42I like every one of these people.
04:44No, they're great people.
04:45They're great leaders.
04:45And the Board of Peace is composed of leaders, the top leaders in the world, actually.
04:52As everyone can see today, the first steps toward a brighter day for the Middle East
04:57and a much safer future for the world are unfolding right before your very eyes.
05:02Together we are in a position to have an incredible chance.
05:07I don't even call it a chance.
05:08I think it's going to happen.
05:09To end decades of suffering, stop generations of hatred and bloodshed,
05:14and forge a beautiful, everlasting, and glorious peace for that region
05:18and for the whole region of the world.
05:23Because I'm calling the world a region.
05:25The world is a region.
05:27We're going to have peace in the world.
05:28And boy, would that be a great legacy for all of us.
05:31Everybody in this room is a star.
05:34Well, you wouldn't be here.
05:36There's a reason that you're here.
05:37And you're all stars.
05:40You're the biggest people, the most important people in the world,
05:42most powerful people in the world.
05:45And when you use that genius that you have, that very unusual, very inspired genius,
05:53when you use that for peace, the opposite of peace has no chance.
05:58So I just want to say it's tremendous to be with you.
06:01And I think this is something that we're doing that's very important.
06:04This is the most important.
06:06I was so looking forward to being here.
06:10And yesterday was a tremendous success.
06:12A lot of good things happened.
06:13But this was something that I really wanted to be here and do.
06:17And I could think of no better place because so many people were together.
