Excitement is building in Launceston as the city counts down to what many believe will be its biggest ever concert when the Foo Fighters play York Park on Saturday. All hands are on deck for hospitality and transport operators, who are expecting the band to bring a surge of customers.

00:00As Launceston gets ready to toast the Foo Fighters,
00:05local hospitality businesses are rostering extra staff to cope with an influx of fans.

00:19So we just like grab a few from Hobart and help us on the day.
00:23The band's show on Saturday is being described as Launceston's biggest ever concert.
00:28Tasmanian band Spooky Eyes nabbed a coveted support spot.
00:32It's massive. We get the opportunity to play to a lot more people than we have before,
00:38a lot more new faces as well, people from out of state.
00:41Piper Rayner couldn't believe it when her bandmate Jude called with the news.
00:46Then he told me it was the Foo Fighters and I think I just went into shock a bit.
00:50I think I thought he was pranking me.
00:52With 25,000 people set to fill York Park for the concert,
00:56a lot of work is going on to prepare it.
00:59We will have just under 1,000 staff operating through the venue.
01:02It is a huge undertaking.
01:04If you're planning to drive to the event, it won't be easy to find a park.
01:08Both the Southern Inverest Car Park, where I am now,
01:11and the Northern Inverest Car Park will be closed.
01:13If you're willing to pay, some nearby private car parks will be open,
01:17but they've raised their prices for the event.
01:20Roads around the venue will also be closed,
01:22but the state government is putting on extra public transport.
01:26Much like the night rider services that were deployed for New Year,
01:31where people will be able to jump on a bus.
01:35There will be four different routes.
01:37A city getting ready for a night to remember.
