00:00You're at a movie theater. You've got your 64-ounce soft drink, your giant tub of popcorn,
00:05the lights finally dim, and here they come. Highlights of upcoming movies. They're the
00:11trailers. So that brings us to our question. Have you always wondered why they're called trailers
00:17if they come before the movie? Well, back in the day, the trailers did come at the end of the
00:23movie. But as soon as the credits rolled, the audience didn't stick around for the trailers.
00:28So some Hollywood bigwig had an idea. How about we show the trailer before the movie? That way they'd
00:35now have a captive audience for the coming attractions. Of course, they could have easily
00:40changed the name from trailers, but probably said something like, ah, why bother? So the name stuck,
00:46and it's been that way ever since. In a world where trailers come first,
00:51logic always comes second. The Always Wondered Podcast.
