00:00In the northernmost area of Battleworld sprawls the mighty Greenland. Bordering on the sea of
00:21monsters. No area of Battleworld is quite as savage as this place. It is blood, mud, and gamma. The devil
00:31cries and this place laughs. This is the land where all is Hulk. Our story begins in the Mud Kingdom
00:41where a tribe of hulks look on at a patrolling group of Thors. The hulks fire on the gods,
00:46hitting one with a catapult barrage of stone, scrap, and dung. The Thors instantly charge the hulks
00:55knowing these monsters must be punished for their audacity. The hulks are immediately wounded
01:02and their homes destroyed. Satisfied, the Thors leave as they are on an important mission for
01:08Doom. Not far away, the Red King watches the scene unfold, amused at the attack on his people.
01:16He seems pleased that Doom is punishing his subjects.
01:22Across the sea of monsters lies Doomstadt. This is where the almighty god king Doom rules over
01:28Battleworld. On the outskirts of this area is the Kiliseum, a gladiatorial arena. The Wolverine
01:36clan has just been defeated by the new champions, the beastlayer known as Steve, the Captain Rogers,
01:43and his Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Devil. All glory to god Doom! The crowd goes wild as the trophy
01:51ceremony begins. The gladiator is disarmed, while Arcade comes out on the field to congratulate the
01:58new champions. The Devil begins to panic, but he calms down by matching his breathing rate with Steve's.
02:05When Arcade gets close, the Captain grabs the man and hurls them both into the Devil's waiting mouth.
02:12As his victim panics, Steve makes it simple. Answer the question, or Rogers will personally kick him
02:19down the dinosaur's throat. Where's Bucky? But as always, Arcade still has tricks up his sleeve,
02:27and an electric shock knocks Rogers out cold. Steve finds himself in Hell, Castle Doom,
02:35where he is ordered to acknowledge his god. Steve does, but it matters not. The Captain only breathes
02:42by the grace of Doom. In spite of Steve's crime, however, his god has an offer. One final task for the
02:51beastlayer. The Mud Kingdom is acting out of line. It must be broken, but Doom does not wish to lower
02:59himself by personally interfering. So Steve is given a job. Meet with an operative on the ground and eliminate
03:06the Red King. At first, the Captain rebukes such an offer, but Steve says he will do it for Bucky.
03:14Barnes made the same deal earlier, but failed in this task and is now a captive of the Red King.
03:21Hearing this, Rogers submits. If the Captain can kill the Red King, then he and Bucky can live free in
03:27Greenland under Doom's blessing. Rogers has only one condition. He wants his T-Rex back.
03:37Steve thinks back to his time in war with Bucky and wonders if his old friend could really still be
03:42alive. In any case, he vows to find Barnes. Rogers and Devil are transported to Greenland and begin to
03:51look for the operative they are to meet with. They go to the spot they arrange to find one another,
03:56when they are suddenly attacked by strange, insect-like beings. But these are more than
04:02mere insects. Like everything else here, they have been corrupted by Gamma. They are Hulk.
04:09Both Devil and Rogers can't stop these monsters, and they are only saved at last minute by a massive
04:15explosion. Their savior scoffs and wonders what forgotten kingdom Doom dug these two out of.
04:21Nonetheless, the Captain is welcomed to Greenland by an all too familiar Hulk.
04:33Steve Rogers wakes up next to his comrade, Devil Dinosaur. The Captain is surprised that the Hulk he
04:40encountered earlier is not hostile. The Hulk can tell his new companion is a Steve Rogers. He can see it in
04:48the man's eyes. He goes on to say that he is an adventurer, a soldier of fortune, and a scholar.
04:56He is also the Captain's guide to the Mud Kingdom and the Red King. And he goes by the name of Doc
05:03Green. Hearing this, the Captain calms down, remembering that this is the only way to save Bucky.
05:11He asks Doc Green what he is doing, and Rogers realizes that he was torturing a monster.
05:17Steve puts the creature out of his misery, so the Hulk threatens the Captain. This is a land saturated
05:23with Gamma, and surviving here does not work through virtue. The only way he is going to save Bucky,
05:29is with Doc Green's guidance. The Captain remembers the war from long ago in a forgotten domain.
05:37Bucky was nearly killed by a shell strike, but narrowly survived. As they fled the area,
05:43Rogers wished he could fight back. Bucky suggested they enlist in the Super Soldier program,
05:49but Steve dismissed this idea as a pipe dream. So his friend doesn't want to fight? Shouldn't they
05:56do their part? In the present, the unlikely trio are traveling through a jungle by a river.
06:03They're heading on a route along the Gamma Mountains, away from the Barons and the Tribal
06:08Hulks until they get to the Mud Kingdom. The Hulk asks what the Captain plans to do after he saves Bucky.
06:15Steve seems surprised at the question, and says that the three of them will fight for what justice
06:20they can against Doom. The idea of which the Hulk finds hilarious. Suddenly, a pair of Bull Hulks
06:27charge out of the jungle. Devil Dinosaur is able to bite one of them on the neck and pin it to the
06:34ground. The other bull charges at the Captain and Doc Green, chasing them through the jungle and out into
06:41the river. They escape the bull, but the current takes them straight over a waterfall. Luckily, they
06:48survive the fall, and Steve calls out to Devil. The dinosaur doesn't answer, and Doc Green warns the
06:55Captain that they aren't alone in this river. A tentacle suddenly pulls Steve underwater, and a
07:01massive beast emerges before the Hulk, who is ready to play. Captain America struggles to get free of the
07:13monster pulling him underwater. Luckily, Devil Dinosaur arrives, and a battle begins. The monster is much
07:21bigger than Devil, who falters, but he and Captain America are brothers. They will never give up on one
07:27another. It is he that kills. It is he that lives. It is Devil Dinosaur. Doc Green is impressed at this,
07:36and the victorious group take a moment to rest on land. They are far off course now, so the hulks suggest
07:43that they risk traveling straight to the Mud Kingdom through the Barrens. Tribal hulks dwell in this area,
07:49and it is very dangerous. Steve takes a moment to thank his brother-at-arms, though Doc Green comments
07:55that Devil is a beast like any other, and that Rogers puts too much faith in his companion. He restates that this
08:02place is Gamma. It is the world ending, with all the pomp and circumstance of humanity boiled away
08:09until all that is left is war and death. The captain then remembers his time in the super soldier unit.
08:15He and Bucky did battle with a villain at this time, and managed to defeat him using the same strategy they
08:20once employed to steal pie as children. This was the last time the captain saw home, before all the
08:27death and destruction. But nothing he has seen compares to this. The Barrens of the Tribal hulks.
08:35The odd party walks through the desert, following a wall of skulls created during the war between the
08:40Mud Kingdom and the Tribal hulks. The captain views this all as madness, but Doc Green chastises his
08:46traveling companion for being so naive. He says that the Red King must be killed, though Steve replies that
08:53he has no quarrel with his being. Doc Green insists that the captain fulfill his oath to doom.
08:59When asked why the hulk can't kill the King himself, Doc Green says that he has bigger plans and can
09:04afford to have the King's blood on his hands. The other hulks will be able to smell it on him.
09:11They arrive at a cave, which is decorated with the bodies of Tribal hulks thanks to the Red King.
09:17Suddenly lightning strikes within the cave, and Doc Green says that the storm has come. It is too
09:23late for them. Everything falls to darkness, and the captain suddenly finds himself alone.
09:29He is attacked by a series of spears, many of which gruesomely impale him. Now badly injured,
09:35Steve Rogers finds himself at the mercy of the Tribal hulks.
09:39The captain is taken by the Tribal hulks, and they begin to build a fire. But Doc Green appears shortly
09:54after, seeing that this puny human belongs to him, and rescues the one-time gladiator.
10:02The captain thinks of his time serving in the Kiliseum at the side of Bucky,
10:06before the hulk brings him out of these memories. They have finally arrived at the Red King's keep,
10:12but Doc Green warns his companion that this won't be like the time Steve and Bucky stole pies from
10:18the grandmother's windowsill. Rogers is shocked at these words, and demands to know how this man could
10:24possibly know about Bucky's grandmother. Doc Green's only reply is that we are all hulk.
10:30The Gamma scrubs us of all pretension, and reveals our true selves.
10:36Suddenly, a large crash is heard, and Devil Dinosaur returns. The T-Rex rampages past the Tribal
10:43hulks, and together, the gladiatorial brothers manage to break through to the Red Cube, and the
10:48Captain leaps through a window. Inside, he hears a voice. The Red King is insulted, and asks when Doom
10:56will send him a real opponent. The Captain only replies with a demand. Release Bucky Barnes.
11:04At this, the Baron of Greenland laughs. Doom lied to the Captain. The Red King sent the head of Bucky
11:10to Doom's guard a month ago. Barnes is no prisoner here. He's a trophy.
11:23Devil Dinosaur rampages against the Tribal hulks. Inside the Red Keep, the Captain holds Bucky's arm.
11:32The Red King mocks Steve, who says that Barnes could not be dissuaded from his mission, and from there,
11:37it became a matter of survival of the fittest. The King asks if the Captain has not read God Doom's
11:44Origins of Species, and that he should have expected this to happen to those who are weak.
11:49Steven is furious, but the Red King says that this is all Doom's fault, for giving Bucky a hopeless
11:55mission. Doom ensures that his subjects focus on killing one another, but the King controls the
12:01Vibranium, and an army of hulks. He offers Steve to join him, and strike back against God Doom.
12:09He begins to talk of a weakness in the God above all, that only he knows about, but the Captain
12:15isn't interested in this, and attacks. This drives the Red King into a fury, and he threatens to smash
12:22his foe into pieces, but the Captain knocks him down. This man kills Bucky. He was Steve's best friend.
12:29He saved the Captain's life a hundred times, and now, now he's failed. As the Captain collects his
12:37brother's arm, he is congratulated by Doc Green. However, Steve is not in the mood for his companion's
12:44ramblings. All the same, the Doc is pleased that his gladiatorial partner has finally embraced the
12:49Hulk within. Doc Green even says that he knew Bucky was dead, but lying was the only way to get the Captain
12:55to cooperate. This infuriates Steve, who says that he is nothing like the hulks, and has not embraced
13:01a thing about Greenland. Doc Green laughs, calling his traveling companion a pompous idiot, while
13:08reverting to human form. Turns out, these two men aren't too different from one another. They've led
13:14very similar lives, up until a point. But when Doc Green joined the Super Soldier program, he was infused
13:21with Gamma instead, and found the truth of the world. He mocks the Captain and says that knowing
13:27Bucky and life made him weak, while knowing Bucky and death made Doc Green strong. But Steve says his
13:34alternate counterpart is wrong. Bucky made him better than strong. He made him brave. Brave enough to do
13:41what must be done. Outside, Devil Dinosaur cries in pain, but the hulks are also faltering against the
13:49mighty beast. Suddenly, a voice calls out to them. The Captain presents the people with their king.
13:55He drops the head in front of them, and the tribes wonder what they will do now. The Captain has no
14:01answer to this, and goes to Devil, showing him what has happened. All is lost. The Dinosaur roars in
14:08anguish. They came to save their war, Brown. Now there is nothing worth preserving. The Captain has
14:15done something he can't repent for. All is lost. There is no future. Bucky gave them hope. Now there
14:23is nothing left for them but blood and violence. The brothers leave, and Devil is told not to look back.
14:30Never look back.
14:38Hello and welcome to Comic Island. My name is Ardent, and this is the complete story of Planet Hulk.
14:50So here we are at the end of a long series of complete stories, gathering together many of
14:55the Secret Wars tie-ins that I've been covering week to week. Don't worry guys, I actually do have
14:59original content on the way, but for now, let's talk about Planet Hulk. Uh, well, actually let's not.
15:06I've talked about this series to death, and if you want my opinions fully fleshed out, you can check
15:10out the individual recaps and reviews on our channel. In short, the art was gorgeous,
15:15and there is a good amount of clever writing. Plus there's a T-Rex teaming up with Captain America.
15:20What more can you want? Unfortunately, there are some pretty serious flaws to it.
15:27The middle three issues really dragged this series out. While the first and last issue both did a great
15:32job at setting up and ending a great premise, the comic as a whole does feel overly long. This would
15:38have been an amazing three issue tie-in, but at five issues it feels too long and a little too bland.
15:43And also, for the comic to have such an amazing idea for a story, it sure feels like a lot of the
15:48potential for awesome action was sidestepped for dialogue that came across as really stale.
15:55So I don't really think I recommend it. But I don't want to talk about this anymore,
15:59because I've said this already. It's time for me to work on something new.
16:29I'm gone.
16:39Some things I really think and I want to talk about in a few years.
16:41I've said that Tom commands the Lord withacon, so as the fellow Peter the weitere one who
16:45it took place on and was inside the dead, but I think is perfect.
16:46I came up on something new that must be taught by altitudes.
16:50And that was when I walked into a stoplitberger facility in Gal Gadget.
16:54I believe another one of people were not to really think about here.
