00:00:17Surviving six ofrendas, such luck, she feels guilty.
00:00:22I think I put the idea in her head.
00:00:24Anything's worth fighting for, isn't it?
00:00:26Two young people that just want to be together?
00:00:30For this, we gave them to the girls of our town.
00:00:33It was supposed to be the AlcƔzar protected us.
00:00:35Roberto took a truck, no matter why.
00:00:37We've got to go after him.
00:00:38So they're together.
00:00:47They split up here.
00:00:49Looks like three went down there.

00:01:21Let's leave a lot of time in there.
00:01:22You have to suffer.
00:01:25Do you think you're going to revoke the two?
00:01:28Two, two.
00:01:29Four, minimum.
00:01:30No, no, no.
00:01:31If I revoke it in two, this night you pay.
00:01:33That's it.

00:03:25I'm here.
00:03:27I'm here.
00:03:29We drive away.
00:03:31But then we hear them come after us.
00:03:44But then we hear them come after us.
00:03:50I got that.
00:04:08And they took her again.
00:04:10Again?
00:04:12She never volunteered.
00:04:14They lied all along.
00:04:16And cheated.
00:04:18She did?
00:04:20What are you saying?
00:04:22The ribbons.
00:04:24She was never chosen.
00:04:26How could you do that?
00:04:30She says she will tell everyone if he doesn't stop the friend.
00:04:36Calm down.
00:04:38Calm down.
00:04:40You must get him back.
00:04:52DoƱa Marca will make him healthy again.
00:04:54I don't know that it's safe enough for him to come back knowing what we know.
00:04:57They have new medicine for Melkathar.
00:04:59It can help him.
00:05:01Papa.
00:05:02Si.

00:05:09I can't believe you.
00:05:11You can't believe He's a guy.
00:05:12You can't believe me.
00:05:13Come on.
00:05:15Look.
00:05:17Look, maybe it's safer we don't know.
00:05:34If we don't know.
00:05:36We'll say he got jumped on the road or something.
00:05:39And then he'll throw Fede off and he can get better.
00:05:41I mean, that's what matters, right?
00:05:43It could work.
00:05:45All he needs is a good liar.
00:05:47We got one of those.
00:05:49What are we going to do about you, Stina?
00:05:51I don't think there's anything we can do about that.
00:05:54Not now.
00:05:54You can't just do nothing.
00:05:56It's like we're taking advantage of it.
00:05:58We're not taking advantage.
00:05:59Especially these two after everything that they've done for us, for me.
00:06:05I'll just go after her myself.
00:06:07You can't go.
00:06:08You stop telling me what I can and can't do.
00:06:12We should be leaving.
00:06:16Where's that convoy go next?
00:06:20Barcelona, probably.
00:06:22They go through there before heading south.
00:06:24Barcelona?
00:06:25How far is Barcelona?
00:06:27A few days by road.
00:06:30You got a map?
00:06:31Yeah.
00:06:32In the glove box.
00:06:33I'm coming with you.
00:06:39You're not 100%.
00:06:40You're faster on my own.
00:06:43Daryl.
00:06:43They need you.
00:06:44Both of them.
00:06:47I'll be back in a few days.
00:06:48All right?
00:06:53Hot dogs.
00:06:54All right.
00:07:08Let's go.
00:07:09La queimada sana el alma doliente.
00:07:39A potion is called queimada, a special brandy remedy the magas know how to brew.
00:07:46Magas?
00:07:47Folk healers, ancient learning passed down from mothers to daughters.
00:07:54Like, um, like witches?
00:07:58No.
00:08:00Well, yes.
00:08:11Moussos, caruxas, sapos e bruxas,
00:08:15Demostrados e diƔƱos, espĆritos das nevadas veigas,
00:08:21Corvos pĆntegas e meigas, feiticios das mencineiras,
00:08:26Apartaos del nostro figlio Roberto.
00:08:37If it doesn't fix him, at least it will make him drunk.
00:08:41My mother will do all she can for Roberto.
00:08:56She has calendula, ecozote, berberis, palodul, I don't know the word in English.
00:09:03All herbs brought to us by el Alcaza.
00:09:10It's hard, here, now, in the village.
00:09:16Those primitivos were a surprise.
00:09:18We paid a dear price.
00:09:27But we get through it.
00:09:32We get through it.
00:09:34With the munitions and supplies that Alcazar gives us.
00:09:38Yes, we paid a price.
00:09:41Sit down.
00:09:43You know, my cousin RaĆŗl's family used to live up in this part of the town.
00:09:52Two houses over.
00:09:54We call him Tonetti, all the time.
00:09:59You remember him or not?
00:10:01Of course, I remember.
00:10:03RaĆŗl, he showed up for dessert almost every night, like it was only a coincidence.
00:10:10Ah, just takes on my postre.
00:10:18Maria was the best baker in Solaf.
00:10:20Maria?
00:10:23Roberto's mother.
00:10:28Tonetti was a lucky man, but he knows that.
00:10:31He knows that.
00:10:32So, tell me, what happened out there?
00:10:41When you found Roberto, how did he end up like this?
00:10:45We couldn't say exactly.
00:10:47Seems he was caught by bandoleros.
00:10:49Snuck up on him, left him for dead.
00:10:51By the time we got to him, he was barely conscious.
00:10:54What about the car?
00:10:57Gone.
00:10:59They must have taken it.
00:11:04You think it was Los Primitivos?
00:11:06Yes.
00:11:07We think.
00:11:12I don't think so.
00:11:14They would have killed him.
00:11:17No sign of El AlcƔzar?
00:11:20No.
00:11:21Well, that's for the best, I suppose.
00:11:28For everyone.
00:11:32Fede.
00:11:36SĆ© que Roberto no se ha portado bien Ćŗltimamente.
00:11:39But he'll behave, right?
00:11:41I'll talk to him about it when he's well.
00:11:44Well, we're going to do better from now.
00:11:46Yes, yes.
00:11:47I'll be fine.
00:11:49What about your friend?
00:11:52I went to check on the boat.
00:11:55Okay.
00:11:57Ah.
00:11:58If he's going to come into the village at night,
00:12:00we should know.
00:12:01So he can enter safely, okay?
00:12:04That's very kind of you.
00:12:05But I think he's going to spend the night there.
00:12:09On the beach?
00:12:11Yeah.
00:12:13He's very, um...
00:12:15outdoorsy.

00:12:23Well.
00:12:25Well, eh...
00:12:27When Roberto gets back,
00:12:28we'll talk about what steps we need to leave
00:12:30all this behind.
00:12:40The AlcƔzar did this to Roberto.
00:12:59Didn't they?
00:13:00Path.
00:13:01It's alright.
00:13:02We can trust Path.
00:13:05What about the convoy?
00:13:07And Daryl?
00:13:08Daryl went after them.

00:53:43She bended a little, I guess.
00:53:45She's, um, how do you say?
00:53:50Nosy.
00:53:51Si.
00:53:52Yeah.
00:53:53Un poquito.
00:53:54Tell me about it.
00:53:55She was asking what my plans are.
00:53:58And you said?
00:54:02Oh, I said when Daryl comes back, we're setting sail for America, I guess.
00:54:09What about you?
00:54:11What are your plans?
00:54:13This is home for me.
00:54:15Starting over somewhere else.
00:54:19I tried it once, but it didn't end so well.
00:54:25Barcelona, you mean?
00:54:27Mm-hmm.
00:54:27Well, it's not Barcelona.
00:54:40Ohio, I mean.
00:54:41But it's not a bad place, either.
00:54:43I mean, it's a place where a person, someone like you, could learn to like.
00:54:52Maybe.
00:54:53What I'm saying is that you could come with us on the boat.
00:55:05We have to get back.
00:55:07They are waiting for us.
00:55:08We have to get back.
00:55:09We have to get back.

00:55:17We have to get back.
00:55:18What do you have, chaval?
00:57:23To be continued...
00:57:53I wonder what your town would think if they knew what you were doing.
00:57:57You want to threaten me?
00:57:59You get to save our girl. You get to kill the next king of Spain.
00:58:02No more king. No more ofrenda.
00:58:15They're a Guffer.
00:58:17They took her again.
00:58:19Where's that convoy go next?
00:58:21Barcelona, probably.
00:58:22You got a map?
00:58:28Daryl's character has a big change, really mid-season,
00:58:32where he becomes finally fully engaged in the Justina and Roberto story,
00:58:37which Carol has been engaged in earlier.
00:58:39They've been at odds a bit about that.
00:58:41We see it really hit full throttle in episode five in Limbo.
00:58:44This episode was the one that we most consciously and aggressively leaned into the Spaghetti Western.
00:58:53When he goes looking for Justina, you know, Carol's back in Solace, but he's moving on, going through the desert.
00:59:00I think that was primo Spaghetti Western kind of.
00:59:04Spain helps us a lot. This is where they've done all the Western before.
00:59:07We're filming now in Lerogoda.
00:59:11This is the first time that I'm shooting here, and I had no idea that we had such a beautiful desert so close to Madrid.
00:59:17Quiero llamar tĆŗ.
00:59:18I was hoping this was going to happen.
00:59:21To ride motorcycles up here in the mountains, it's like a dream.
00:59:23Norman is not only a great rider.
00:59:25He knows the show like nobody else knows the show.
00:59:28He comes to the location, it's like, oh, this is so great.
00:59:30Let me use this. Let me use that.
00:59:31So it's like having fun, like, two little children with having fun together.
00:59:46Back up.
00:59:48Buenas noches, seƱor.
00:59:51Episode five is called Limbo.
00:59:52It is the name of this group of people that live in the desert.
00:59:55They suffer from leprosy.
00:59:56We started researching, like, what the disease looks like and how it manifests itself physically
01:00:03because the idea is that Daryl comes across this group of people and you want them to think it's walkers for a minute
01:00:08and then all of a sudden they start talking.
01:00:10So he comes in, boom, I think he's a zombie, right?
01:00:14Puts his hands up, the hands go down, then the rest of them come in with weapons.
01:00:18So does this go back up again?
01:00:20Oh, interesting.
01:00:21Then you reveal it's a leper colony.
01:00:23They're called Limbo's partially because they're kind of between living and dead
01:00:26because they're not perceived as fully acceptable in human society.
01:00:30And they're sometimes sort of treated almost as if they were walkers, but they're not walkers.
01:00:34They're just humans with a disease.
01:00:35Their town, the national monument of Belchite, which from the Spanish Civil War is a town that was bombed mercilessly.
01:00:42And it's visually kind of stunning.
01:00:44There are these churches in the town that are just, like, fantastic.
01:00:47Only these, the ceilings are bombed out and they're sort of relics.
01:00:50Still, it retains an enormous amount of beauty.
01:00:53The thing that they most guard preciously is their water.
01:00:56This power is what we have for all of us.
01:01:00They are besieged by a group of people who regularly come in and take the water from them and lead them on the margins.
01:01:06Daryl comes upon this world and knowing his character quite well, this is not something they'll let abide.
01:01:11And then he kicks into full hero mode.
01:01:13Okay, ready and action.
01:01:15We just immediately started to see a confrontation between Daryl and one of these characters.
01:01:23The showdown between me and the bad guy on the bikes I really liked because it's a very wah, wah, wah moment, you know?
01:01:31And that actor was really fun to work with because he's like, ah!
01:01:33And then I liked the thing that looks like a katana but it folds like a switchblade.
01:01:38It's called a fucker, which is fun to say.
01:01:42But I like that, going in and slicing them.
01:01:49Yeah, it was all fun.
01:01:53And I, in the back of my head, had an idea about zombies pulling a train through the desert.
01:01:58I thought, A, that's awesome, and B, I don't know if we can do that.
01:02:02When we were able to finally put it on its feet, it was pretty amazing.
01:02:06I really liked that whole sequence, you know, and the guy playing guitar, singing an old Spanish song on the horse and they're following him.
01:02:14It was one of the most exciting sequences we've done.
01:02:16We have high falls.
01:02:17We have people being, you know, knocked off by Daryl, all the while surrounded by walkers.
01:02:21I also will say it required an incredible amount of work.
01:02:25We got an actual, real old train.
01:02:27We had to find tracks in the desert that we could get it to, that we could get walkers on, that we could safely have actors.
01:02:32Three, two, one, action!
01:02:35Watch your head!
01:02:37So it took a tremendous amount of team effort and preparation to actually get us there.
01:02:43Crazy day, doing crazy action.
01:02:45It was perfect.
01:02:46I love that guy that I ended up drowning in the bathtub.
01:02:51He was really fun to work with.
01:02:58I actually kept his bathrobe.
01:03:00It's my bathrobe in Spain.
01:03:01But everyone's like, why don't you throw it away?
01:03:03It's filthy.
01:03:03And I'm like, it's just makeup.
01:03:05It's not really dirt.
01:03:07Yeah, that whole sequence was great.
01:03:10It felt like Outlaw Josie Wales, you know, Mad Max, sort of Western.
01:03:15It was really fun.
01:03:16I think it's everybody's favorite episode.
01:03:17This is a really lovely parable in the middle of our story that is kind of a Western tale.
01:03:26That's kind of truest to the Sergio Leone homage.
01:03:30So it had a lot of things coming together that felt really indigenous to this place.
01:03:34So Limbo reflects that story very specifically.
01:03:40Limbo also is relevant to the Roberto side of it, the Carol side of it.
01:03:45El alma de Roberto estÔ atrapada entre la esperanza y la desesperación.
01:03:49Entre querer vivir y querer rendirse es como estar en un limbo.
01:03:53And they're hoping they're going to be able to get him out of it, but they can't.
01:03:56And they're struggling to pull him back to life.
01:03:58Gracias, seƱor, por cuidar de mi hijo y hacer que se recupere.
01:04:04Por favor, ayuda a Darila a encontrar a Agustina.
01:04:08Y hacer que la traiga de vuelta a casa.
01:04:10Y hacer que la traiga de vuelta a casa.
01:04:40Y hacer que la traiga de vuelta a casa.
