Devastated residents of a bushfire ground south of Adelaide are starting to count the cost of the damage with at least two reporting their homes have been lost. The Tooperang fire near Mount Compass which broke out yesterday afternoon is still uncontrolled and believed to have been started by an accidental ignition from a vehicle.

00:29that's okay because the main thing is everyone's safe.
00:34Around the corner the path of destruction is laid bare.
00:37This is the motorhome Natasha Price lived in with her partner and three children.
00:41You don't realise how much things mean to you and it wasn't much compared to a lot
00:48of people but when this happens you realise it was everything.
00:52The uncontrolled bushfire broke out at Tupurang about 4.30 on Sunday afternoon.
01:00More than 100 firefighters have been battling the blaze which has burnt more than 650 hectares.
01:06Fire authorities say along a stretch of Nanketa Road they were up to 10 ignitions and CFS crews
01:11worked to limit the damage as much as possible.
01:15That is one of the things we're looking at is whether there was a mechanical issue with
01:18a vehicle that was driving along the road that may have contributed or may have been the cause
01:21of these fires.
01:22We don't believe it to have been deliberate at this point in time.
01:25Some residents took shelter in nearby Mount Compass.
01:28Just a couple of hairs that we're so thankful we're okay.

01:33We've lost about 80% of our place already but there's not much you can do just stick together
01:40and help out as much as you can I suppose.
01:41The fire has been downgraded as milder conditions allowed crews to establish containment lines.
01:47There's lots of fond memories but the memories are still there, there are only possessions.
01:52Determined to rebuild after losing almost everything.
