00:11in Edmondson Park. Strong wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour fanned flames, catching
00:19nearby residents by surprise.
00:22They said you've got to evacuate straight away and I said why? And they said there's
00:25a lot of smoke coming and a fire coming. And they said you have to get in your car and

00:31In my head I was not taking it seriously. I'm like okay just a bit of smoke and then
00:35when I came back out after the flames and you have to leave then it got really bad.

00:41Dozens of crews worked into the evening to contain the blaze. Firefighters spent much
00:47of today mopping up.
00:50It did show how quickly those fires can escalate, how quickly they can go on to impact on people
00:54and property.
00:55With multiple fires still burning across New South Wales, firefighters have made the most
01:01of mild conditions today. But it might not last long with predictions of more wild weather
01:08on the horizon.
01:12Strong winds and even higher temperatures are forecast to hit parts of New South Wales
01:17in coming days.
01:18There's a risk of damaging wind gusts returning with that front tomorrow and also a risk of
01:23elevated fire danger conditions again through Sydney and the Illawarra.
