Syria’s transitional president Ahmed al-Sharaa says a newly brokered ceasefire with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is a “significant opportunity” to bring security and stability to the country and strengthen efforts against ISIS. Speaking at a press conference in Damascus, al-Sharaa said the agreement could help Syria move beyond division toward unity, with backing from international and regional leaders including Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron. The ceasefire was mediated by U.S. special envoy Tom Barrack.
