00:09The Crystal Bowl by Michael Henrik Wynne
00:30I was walking about the town square when I was ten.
00:49Suddenly, I noticed somebody had parked a camper at the far end.
00:53Outside, a group of dark-skinned gypsies in colourful garments stood vigil.
00:57As I approached, a middle-aged woman in a fluttering red silk costume waved me inside.
01:04I was curious, and when I entered, I noticed a crystal ball on the table.
01:09She then bid me take a seat and stretch out my hand.
01:13After she had examined it intensely from the many angles in the scarce light,
01:18tracing each furrow such as I had then,
01:21she fixed her deep brown eyes at me and said,
01:24You are not going to live long.
01:27And you are not going to have a short life.
01:31You are going to meet a very beautiful woman.
01:35And you are not going to have many children, but neither very few.
01:40In the next moment, she let my hand slip like a stone from her cold grasp.
01:45She stood up, and as a rank, lean body hovered over me,
01:49the wise and mysterious fortune-teller declared.
01:53That will be one dollar, please.
