00:00We'll take a look in Gainesville, John Summerall moving on, took Tulane to a group of five, a college football playoff appearance and a championship run.
00:10Coach, 10-2 this year overall. We mentioned that he lost in the first round to Ole Miss, but transfer talent, it's good that you're getting offensive, defensive talent, but if you don't get that star quarterback, you're going to be up against it.
00:24They did sign Aaron Filo from Georgia Tech, but I think they need a bigger name to start the year than Filo at the helm.
00:34Well, you know, I have a lot of conferences, John. I coached against him at Troy and then watched him.
00:38I've known him for a while and watched what he did at Troy, won the conference two years in a row, went to Tulane, won the conference two years in a row, developed two quarterbacks.
00:46Menza first, he went to Duke, then he bought a rest lap who came in from, what, BYU and did a great job.
00:54So, I don't know if he goes after Rutschleff or does he got what he likes in Filo? I don't know, but I do have a lot of confidence that he knows how to win football games.
01:03Now, a lot like Georgia, he likes a manager. He likes a quarterback that can manage his offense and run his offense.
01:09He really hasn't shown that he needs the superstar dual threat talent to put everything on his back, but you're playing at Florida.
01:18They're expecting big things. He better have one in his plan. He better have a quarterback lined up because I don't know that he's got him yet.
01:28Right, and that's the thing. We know that Florida recruits athletes. We know.
01:32And again, you could take a look at the good, the bad, and the ugly for the Florida Gators, right?
01:37You look at this year. The good is they knock out Florida State from bowl contention.
01:42They knocked out Texas when they didn't have a—Texas was looking to potentially make that SEC championship run.
01:50That's right.
01:50They went into the swap and got cracked right in the mouth and lost that game by eight points.
01:55Those were the highs.
01:57But then you can't turn around and get blitzed by teams like, obviously, Missouri, Tennessee, and some of the others that are on their schedule.
02:04Summerall will bring a competitive balance back to this team.
02:09Again, it's like what you said. When you turn around the program, you start losing games closer.
02:15That's what I expect out of John Summerall in year number one.
02:18Yeah, I think the conference just got a lot better with Summerall and Golish and Auburn
02:22and their ability to bring a team along and to build a winner.
02:27I just think it's gotten even tougher because one of those teams, whether it be Florida or Auburn or maybe Arkansas,
02:33one of these guys are going to go out there and just all of a sudden another really good team
02:38in a conference that was full of teams that had great years last year.
