00:00The future of some of the world's rarest plants is uncertain after a heating system failed in
00:05specialist glass houses where they were being grown. The historic botanical collection, now
00:11based in the Walled Garden at Croxworth Hall in Liverpool, dates back to 1802 and was founded by
00:17William Roscoe. Stephen Lias, chair of the Liverpool Botanical Trust, said the full impact on the
00:23plants would not be known until the spring. The collection includes endangered species such as
00:28the Green Jade Vine. Liverpool City Council said it remains committed to preserving and caring for
00:34the plants, adding that temporary heaters have been installed and closely monitored.
00:39The botanical collection has been displayed at various locations since 1984.
