00:00The other story that happened yesterday after our show, but during the afternoon, is, I guess, I think it happened yesterday, right?
00:06Dante Moore, that was yesterday, right?
00:07That was yesterday, yes.
00:08The deadline was yesterday.
00:10Yeah, so the deadline was midnight last night, I guess.
00:12So it's interesting that Dante Moore, after that terrible showing against Indiana, decided another year of college football might be best for him.
00:19He's getting $7.5 million from Oregon to come back.
00:22But what's interesting about that is when he first was thinking about going pro,
00:26and by the way, probably would have been the first quarterback taken even after that disastrous performance against Indiana.
00:34Trinidad Chambliss is obviously moving up the ranks.
00:37Ty Simpson is going pro from Alabama.
00:40He probably becomes the number two for now, yeah.
00:42But I know a lot of guys don't think any of these guys are legitimate first-round picks, let alone second overall pick in the draft.
00:49So I give Dante Moore credit.
00:51He understands what he is and what he isn't.
00:52He's going to get $7.5 million anyway, so he's not a pauper.
00:57He's around a lot of good people.
00:58That was always the plan.
00:59Yes.
01:00Dan Lang's obviously a great coach, great for building quarterbacks.
01:03You'll just look at Bo Nix, obviously.
01:05So what's interesting about that, though, is about a week ago, a little less than that,
01:11Dylan Rayola, the kid in Nebraska who thinks he's Patrick Mahomes,
01:15thinking that Dante Moore was going to go pro, he transferred in the portal to Oregon,
01:21and he thought he was going to be the new starting quarterback.
01:24I know he's coming off an injury.
01:25I think he might have broken his leg or something.
01:26He broke his leg, yeah.
01:27But I think he'll be ready to play, if not spring ball, certainly by next fall.
01:31But now you're Dylan Rayola, and now you're not the starting quarterback at Oregon
01:36because Oregon just gave $7.5 million to their incumbent quarterback who's coming back for another year.
01:42All this plays out, and it has an impact on my football team, the Jets.
01:48I'm thrilled that Dante Moore is going back to college.
01:52I do not think today that Dante Moore is ready for the NFL.
01:56Maybe another year of college seasoning, and he'll become that guy?
01:59Great.
02:00It never hurts.
02:00I can take him next year if I want.
02:02Yeah, it never hurts.
02:03It might hurt you.
02:04He might go, let's say, 12th next year rather than two,
02:07but he'll be a better football player a year from now.
02:09So the Jets are an interesting spot.
02:10Nobody wanted Aaron Glenn back, but Aaron Glenn's coming back to be the head coach.
02:14Okay, fine.
02:15They're not going to get their franchise quarterback in this draft.
02:19So maybe you go out and get him Malik Willis.
02:20That's what I would do.
02:21Call the Packers, get Malik Willis.
02:22Yeah, give a two-year deal.
02:24Or would you take the Flyers, you spread it out, you give them a four-year deal,
02:28you give them some money up front.
02:29Then you get out of it after you if you want to.
02:31If you want to.
02:31And if he can play, you now have a rookie contract quarterback the same way.
02:36That's fine.
02:37We've seen teams do this in the past.
02:38I would go after Malik Willis, and I think the New York Jets are not going to be a good
02:43football team next year.
02:44Probably not.
02:45And yet we have a bunch of picks in the first three rounds, so we do have a chance of getting
02:49better for sure.
02:50But here's my evil genius plan.
02:53Okay.
02:54The New York Jets do win a couple more games.
02:56Let's say five.
02:57Yeah, they're not going to be worse.
02:58No, they're not going to be worse.
02:59They're not going to be worse.
03:00But we learned what I already know, that Aaron Glenn is not a great head coach, maybe a great
03:05defensive coordinator, but he's not going to be my long-time head coach, all right?
03:09So, I win five games next year, mild improvement over the three games we won this year, okay?
03:15I have Malik Willis.
03:16If he pans out to be great, I've got myself a great quarterback.
03:19If he doesn't, maybe he becomes my backup quarterback, because I do like the kid.
03:24I now have another top five pick in the draft, and I have three first-round draft picks now,
03:30right?
03:31I pick up the phone, and I do exactly what the Giants just did with Harbaugh.
03:35I do with Mike Tomlin.
03:37I now go out there.
03:38It's a quarterback-heavy draft next year.
03:41I draft the stud quarterback top five.
03:44I go out and get, obviously, the best available head coaching candidate, and now I am the new
03:50flavor of the month.
03:51The New York Jets have a two-year plan in my world, and I would sign up right now.
03:56I said this on the radio yesterday.
03:57I would sign up today for 0-17 next year.
04:02I will kick next year's season down the curb for 2027.
04:08I will buy season tickets for an 0-17 team.
04:12I get Mike Tomlin.
04:13I get the best quarterback in the draft, and I now have the foundation of a great football team.
