00:00:00Formula, Rhys James makes his 200th appearance for Chelsea, Trevor Chalabar is back from suspension,
00:00:06Andre Santos and Romeo Lavia also start, Enzo Fernandes is injured, Moises Caicedo on the bench.
00:00:15And prior to kick off, the players take a knee, reiterating the message, there should be no room
00:00:20for racism or prejudice of any sort in football or anywhere else.
00:00:25Chelsea looking to win here at the City ground for the third season in a row, this is where
00:00:33they secured Champions League qualification at the back end of last season, but it's been
00:00:38given away by Malagusto and Awanyi, has a first sighting of goal on his return to action for
00:00:45the first time since the end of last season.
00:00:49Chelsea causing problems for themselves here.
00:00:52Ange Postokoglu, the 8th permanent manager under Evangelos Maranakis.
00:01:02It's poor from Chalabar, Awanyi, now Gibbs-White, bursting clear of Lavia, nicely done, Elliot
00:01:10Anderson, Forrest threatening for a moment here, and it all came from that poor pass as Chelsea
00:01:16conceded possession, that it'll check back, and the stumble.
00:01:24Well, Enzo Maresco forced to take a seat in the stand today, following his red card against
00:01:29Liverpool, two yellows, the second of which you may remember his exuberant celebration on
00:01:33the touchline.
00:01:34Got away from Romeo Lavia, here's Morgan Gibbs-White, and it's wide, and it's at least the third
00:01:45time, if not more, that Chelsea have given the ball away inside their own half of the field,
00:01:50and Gibbs-White, unable to hit the target, an unexpected opportunity, spurned.
00:02:01The bounce beats Adjampong, Awanyi's there, it's Douglas-Louise, Gibbs-White!
00:02:08Forrest are knocking on the door.
00:02:12Gibbs-White was really stretching to try and get there.
00:02:15And there's the thoughtful face of the Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Maranakis.
00:02:26A penny for his thoughts.
00:02:31Jean-Pedro, lovely little bit of skill in towards Andre Santos, who is sending it just wide.
00:02:39Chelsea suddenly creating something out of seemingly nothing, and Forrest survive.
00:02:50Jean-Pedro, two Brazilian strikers going at it, and Jean-Pedro going to ground, and Chelsea
00:02:58with a free kick.
00:02:59Early second-half pressure here from Chelsea.
00:03:07Grace James whips it in.
00:03:10Heather away by Gibbs-White, collected by Malagusto.
00:03:18Neto is going to have a run at Nico Williams here, and it was worth it.
00:03:22Adjampong, 1-0 Chelsea, unmarked, clear header.
00:03:28Great chance, fine goal.
00:03:32Josh Adjampong scores his first goal for the club.
00:03:36What a moment for the 19-year-old.
00:03:38Well, Chelsea made three changes at the break.
00:03:40They've been brighter already in the opening exchanges at the second period, and here Adjampong.
00:03:45Right place, right time.
00:03:48The cross was delightful from Pedro Neto, right on his head.
00:03:54It's Nottingham Forest, 0-0 Chelsea, 1.
00:04:00And here comes Chelsea again with Gusto into João Pedro, up to Marc Guil.
00:04:06They get a free kick as well for that one on the edge of the box.
00:04:09Dangerous times here for Forest.
00:04:13And it's a foul by Morato, who has already gone in the referee's book in the first half.
00:04:26Sells on the balls of his feet.
00:04:28Oh, and it's two!
00:04:32And in the blink of an eye, Chelsea open up, real daylight, Pedro Neto.
00:04:39And it's all unravelled for Nottingham Forest in the opening six minutes of the second half.
00:04:45Pedro Neto scores in front of the travelling fans, Forest are shell-shocked.
00:04:51There, through the hole in the wall.
00:04:54Big gap, and it's a big goal.
00:04:58The first cries of Sakt in the morning heading towards the touchline,
00:05:03coming from the Chelsea fans.
00:05:05Here's Milenkovich.
00:05:08He was caught by Malagusto.
00:05:13He'll get a card.
00:05:16That's actually a beat there for Malagusto.
00:05:23Sangare losing out to João Pedro.
00:05:26Chelsea threatening again.
00:05:29João Pedro close.
00:05:30As Chelsea seek to put this game way beyond reach.
00:05:38Forest just looking for a spark to bring them back in the game.
00:05:41Anderson across.
00:05:42Williams going for it.
00:05:43And really good defensive work in support of his colleagues there from Jamie Gittins.
00:05:49Zinchenko across.
00:05:59Oh, what a chance that was for Williams.
00:06:02Big moment there.
00:06:05Forest and he really needed that to go in.
00:06:09Milenkovich.
00:06:10Here's Williams.
00:06:14No way past Kukurea.
00:06:15Corner.
00:06:25By the head of Milenkovich.
00:06:27Saved by Sanchez.
00:06:31Forest threatening here.
00:06:32Sanchez able to flick it over with his fingertips.
00:06:41Well, Evangelo Samarinakis hasn't been in his seat for over five minutes now.
00:06:47Has he seen enough?
00:06:47One back by Murilo Sangare.
00:06:56Here's Anderson.
00:06:58Now Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:05Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:06He goes, Jesus!
00:07:07How did that not go in?
00:07:08An extraordinary moment.
00:07:14The delivery from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
00:07:18And the effort from Igor Jesus there, hitting the crossbar and the post.
00:07:28Rhys James.
00:07:29Guillou.
00:07:31Anderson challenged by Kukurea.
00:07:33Here's Esteval.
00:07:35Corner.
00:07:35Tell you what, it wasn't that far away from 3-0.
00:07:44Esteval to take it.
00:07:47Right under the goalkeepers.
00:07:49No!
00:07:49It's 3-0, Rhys James.
00:07:53Marks his 200th appearance for Chelsea.
00:07:56With a goal that seals the deal at the city ground.
00:07:59Three goals for Chelsea.
00:08:01Three points.
00:08:02Ange Postacoglu and Nottingham Forest.
00:08:05Empty-handed again.
00:08:08And thousands of people immediately make for the exits.
00:08:17It was a terrific looking corner.
00:08:19From Esteval.
00:08:20Punched away by Sells.
00:08:23It was a lovely finish from Rhys James.
00:08:26Charles Pedro forward looking for Esteval when it's collected by Sells.
00:08:36And a foul there on Nico Williams by Malagusto.
00:08:39And he's already been booked earlier in the match.
00:08:44So that means that Chelsea will finish the game with 10.
00:08:47He knew it straight away.
00:08:49Malagusto sent off for Chelsea.
00:08:51That should do it.
00:09:00The mood darkens.
00:09:02The booze grow louder in Nottingham.
00:09:04It's an excellent away win for Chelsea.
00:09:07But for Ange Postacoglu, things don't look great less than six weeks after taking the job.
00:09:14And 21 minutes later, a 39-day tenure was ended with a 39-word statement from the club.
00:09:23Big Ange was gone.
00:09:2739 days is not very long.
00:09:28You must have hardly got to know Ange Postacoglu, really.
00:09:33No, not really.
00:09:33But that's the nature of football.
00:09:36You know, results haven't been good enough.
00:09:39Us as players have to take massive responsibility.
00:09:42And, you know, collectively as a group, we need to do more.
00:09:46You know, we have to look at ourselves in the mirror.
00:09:48We have to get on the training pitch.
00:09:50We have to look for them.
00:09:51Then 1%, it's fine margins.
00:09:53And, yeah, we need to give absolutely everything we owe it to the fans to put in a really good performance on Thursday.
00:09:57But it's a tough game, isn't it, at the top level.
00:09:59An excellent result for you.
00:10:01But today the Forest manager has lost his job.
00:10:05Yeah, they just said me.
00:10:08Unfortunately, it's our job.
00:10:10It's business where you need to win games in case you don't win games.
00:10:14The consequence is for all of us exactly the same.
00:10:18So, Ange Postacoglu, 39 days, puts him second officially on the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history.
00:10:24But Sam Allardyce, if you remember, was brought in to manage Leeds to the end of the season.
00:10:29So, if you're looking at a permanent appointment, you could argue that it is the shortest of all time.
00:10:33Michael, was it inevitable today?
00:10:35Yeah, I think it was in terms of the owner and his standards for the club.
00:10:40Remember last season, he thought he was going to get Champions League.
00:10:42Didn't work out.
00:10:43They got into Europe.
00:10:45Wasn't good enough.
00:10:46Obviously, Nuno gets sacked after that.
00:10:49But in terms of football, five games, 39 days in the Premier League and he's getting sacked.
00:10:57It's just ridiculous to me.
00:10:59I don't know where we're going as football.
00:11:01I understand the results have not been great.
00:11:04But in terms of a manager trying to get his philosophy over, we knew with Nuno there was a defensive style team.
00:11:11Now, we know Ange likes to play on the front foot.
00:11:12And we always talk about giving managers time to put their input on what the team wants to do.
00:11:20And for them to get five games in the Premier League, for me, I just...
00:11:23With an international break in the middle of all of that, in terms of getting to know your players, do you have some sympathy for him?
00:11:27Yeah, absolutely.
00:11:27You do have sympathy for him, yeah.
00:11:29I mean, the owner has to accept his share of the blame.
00:11:32He went out and chose this particular manager knowing that he had a completely different system to what the previous manager had got.
00:11:40But five Premier League games, you absolutely have sympathy for him.
00:11:44But the names...
00:11:45Mareska said it, didn't he?
00:11:46You know the rules in football.
00:11:48If you don't get results immediately, unfortunately, you're going to lose your job.
00:11:52And the names in the frame, Sean Dyche, Mancini, Rafa Benitez.
00:11:58You know, some people might say, well, why would you want to go there and work under that regime?
00:12:02It's so uncertain.
00:12:03The queue will be a mile long.
00:12:05It's a huge football club.
00:12:06There's only 20 jobs available in the Premier League.
00:12:09Everyone wants to come in the Premier League.
00:12:11And I'm pretty sure the owner already would have spoken to at least five or six of those big names.
00:12:17OK, well, let's talk about what happened in the match.
00:12:19Because in the first half, actually, Forrest had quite a few good chances.
00:12:22And it took Mareska to make some changes for Chelsea to get to Flurry.
00:12:25Yeah, it didn't work for them at all.
00:12:27I mean, Forrest had some really, really good chances.
00:12:29Didn't take them.
00:12:29We're all sat thinking we all know what's going to happen.
00:12:31And particularly in forward positions, it didn't work for Chelsea.
00:12:34Got Santos and Pedro there.
00:12:36Pedro was the nine.
00:12:38But on these occasions, he actually came short into those positions.
00:12:43And the only time it worked was the last minute of the first half.
00:12:46Didn't work here at all.
00:12:48They weren't linking up well at all.
00:12:51And the managers obviously look and think, I'm going to change it.
00:12:53This is the one occasion in the first half it did.
00:12:56Pedro goes short.
00:12:57Santos goes in behind.
00:12:59That was their best chance.
00:13:01Probably their only chance in the first half.
00:13:02And he thought, you know what, it's not working, I've got to change it.
00:13:05So not only did he bring Gittins and Caicedo on, so it had a bit of solidity in, particularly in the midfield.
00:13:11He brought Guiu on.
00:13:12And you can see the difference now there.
00:13:14Pedro's now playing predominantly in the 10-10 role.
00:13:18Guiu's in the centre-four and he's running in behind.
00:13:20And all of a sudden, it changes.
00:13:21They're now playing on the front foot.
00:13:24They're now getting chances in the final third.
00:13:26But that turns into a free kick, which they then get the, it turns out they get the goal from it.
00:13:31Similar thing again, look, Guiu's coming short for that ball, but he's actually asking the question in behind.
00:13:36It's such a clever run.
00:13:38He doesn't get it the first time, but you can see, again, look, that way ends up.
00:13:42Again, making it difficult for the Forrester fence.
00:13:45And they're having to think again all the same.
00:13:47Now, just watch this, how it works.
00:13:49You can see Pedro knows exactly where he is.
00:13:51OK, he chooses not to play him on that occasion, but he then gets the ball back.
00:13:56And again, that's a clever ball and a pass.
00:13:58They work it well.
00:13:59They get the free kick and they score again from the free kick.
00:14:02It's well worked from James and from Neto.
00:14:05But Chelsea, I think, were without doubt much, much better for those changes at half-time.
00:14:10More on the front foot and created certainly more chances.
00:14:13And as we've spoken about, we know what happened after that.
00:14:15Yeah, and they did have chances in the first half.
00:14:17And obviously, Maranakis had seen exactly everything he wanted to see there.
00:14:21I think Yates says it in his interview, I think it's a collective for Forrest.
00:14:25And they did have a lot of chances in that first half.
00:14:28And that was a difference in the end.
00:14:30It was quality.
00:14:31Another result now doesn't look great for Forrest.
00:14:33But if you actually watched the game, if they would have took a few of those chances,
00:14:36it could have been a different outcome.
00:14:38And so many new players brought in over the summer, obviously.
00:14:41And then Nuno leaves.
00:14:43And then, obviously, as you said, there's not very much time for anything.
00:14:45And then a new manager's going to come in and have to work with those players
00:14:48and try and get the team to be cohesive.
00:14:51It feels, doesn't it, almost counterproductive.
00:14:54Especially when it's a different style.
00:14:55We know that it's a completely different style to what Nuno had.
00:14:59Now, I know the results at the end of last season didn't go as well as they wanted.
00:15:04But it's a completely different style.
00:15:06A lot of those players were brought in for that particular system
00:15:09and worked and loved that system.
00:15:12It was always going to take time to change.
00:15:14But we know you haven't got that.
00:15:16But still, five games is crazy.
00:15:18Well, it moves fast, doesn't it?
00:15:19Who knows what the next 24 hours is going to bring there.
00:15:21OK, well, both meetings between Crystal Palace and Bournemouth
00:15:24finished goalless last season.
00:15:26Fingers crossed, everyone.
00:15:27Your commentator is Robin Cowan.
00:15:31Recent meetings might not have lived long in the memory between these two.
00:15:35But they're both on course for unforgettable seasons.
00:15:37Palace's club record 19-match unbeaten run was ended by Everton
00:15:42before the international break.
00:15:44But Oliver Glasner goes with the same team that lost on Merseyside.
00:15:47Jean-Philippe Mateta scored on his full international debut for France
00:15:51over the break, proving the doubters, including allegedly,
00:15:54a few of his former teammates, wrong.
00:15:56Former Zantoine Semenyo also had something to celebrate,
00:15:59helping Ghana to qualify for the World Cup.
00:16:01He's been involved in nine goals in seven appearances this season for the Cherries.
00:16:05David Brooks and Evan Nielsen are out injured.
00:16:07It's three changes from the victory over Fulham.
00:16:10First Premier League starts for Eli Kruppi and Alex Jimenez.
00:16:13Justin Kluivert also comes in.
00:16:17The form of the 1-4 of their last six Premier League games,
00:16:21but it's just two wins in their last nine away from home.
00:16:25Only defeat this season, opening day at Anfield.
00:16:28Kluivert's corner towards the near post.
00:16:46It's another chance here, swung up towards the middle,
00:16:49well defended by Gay.
00:16:51Sarr is down for Crystal Palace.
00:16:54Wicked one from Kluivert, and it's Helton at the back post.
00:17:10Eli Kruppi!
00:17:19Stung Selhurst Park!
00:17:24Well, Kruppi just had to help her over the line a couple of inches out,
00:17:27but he was totally on track there
00:17:30on his first start in the Premier League.
00:17:33Just 19 years old.
00:17:38Already his second goal for Bournemouth.
00:17:42Here's Pino.
00:17:47Meteta!
00:17:53He's got to be hitting the target, really, those opportunities.
00:17:55Well, it's been a good response.
00:17:59Nothing to show for it so far.
00:18:05Semenyo bursting forward.
00:18:08Getting away from Richards.
00:18:10Gay's clearance isn't enough.
00:18:12And it's another for Bournemouth,
00:18:14and it's another for Eli Kruppi!
00:18:16A devastating break.
00:18:21The Semenyo centre wasn't really dealt with by Gay.
00:18:27Could he have turned it behind for a corner?
00:18:29Either way, he's presented it straight to Kruppi,
00:18:32who was in the right place,
00:18:33and showed real composure
00:18:35to slam it past Henderson.
00:18:38Take something special from Palace,
00:18:40or a big collapse from Bournemouth
00:18:42to change the outcome of the points.
00:18:47No foul on Scott.
00:18:49Sarr, that will be one.
00:18:51Seneci, mistimed.
00:18:57Yellow card for Marcos Seneci.
00:19:01Oh, was it a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity?
00:19:05They are recommending that Jared Gillett goes to the screen.
00:19:15Did catch him with the studs.
00:19:18A nervous wait for Marcos Seneci.
00:19:26Let's see what Jared Gillett has to say.
00:19:28After a view, the original decision of yellow card to number five stands.
00:19:40The player is moving slightly wide, and there is a covering defender.
00:19:44Well, Jared Gillett has stuck by his decision.
00:19:48We don't see that very often, but happy that this is far enough from goal
00:19:54that that shouldn't warrant a red card.
00:19:57Lacroix, Mateta.
00:20:05Lacroix, Mateta.
00:20:07Finds Sartre.
00:20:09Munoz.
00:20:10Mateta!
00:20:11A brilliant goal for Palace.
00:20:17It's been ruled out.
00:20:21There was an offside during this move somewhere.
00:20:27It's another very long check.
00:20:28And Jean-Felipe Mateta has put Palace back in the game.
00:20:42So this changes the mood somewhat.
00:20:47Holmesdale road end are roaring.
00:20:50Camarda.
00:20:57Munoz!
00:20:58Mateta!
00:21:05Total delirium at Selhurst Park.
00:21:08It's another tremendously worked goal from Palace.
00:21:13He's missed a few today.
00:21:15But he's taken two brilliantly.
00:21:18What a week.
00:21:24Bournemouth have been on the back foot ever since they conceded that first goal.
00:21:28But promising move forward here.
00:21:32Tavania!
00:21:34It's put away by Ryan Christie!
00:21:39Two minutes of the 90 remaining.
00:21:44Lovely move down the left.
00:21:46Tavernier with the pullback.
00:21:52And the fresh legs of Ryan Christie.
00:21:56Got himself into a perfect position to potentially score the winner here.
00:22:05Richards.
00:22:07Bouncing ball deflected away for a corner.
00:22:09Here we go.
00:22:17It's dropping.
00:22:18Where is it dropping?
00:22:20Richards.
00:22:21Lacroix.
00:22:22Another big deflection.
00:22:25Another corner.
00:22:31Here we go again.
00:22:31High looping.
00:22:32Wrestling match in the box.
00:22:35Oh, it's a penalty!
00:22:38Gay went down.
00:22:42It's being looked at.
00:22:45But Jared Gillett had a good view of this.
00:22:48Be surprised if he changed his mind here.
00:22:50One more chapter to this match.
00:23:04Mateta!
00:23:11Cool as you like.
00:23:14Mateta takes home the match ball.
00:23:16Tannis wants to win this.
00:23:21Sent forward by Henderson.
00:23:23Mateta wins the header.
00:23:25And Ketia!
00:23:26Mateta!
00:23:27Mateta!
00:23:31Oh!
00:23:32We are all Oliver Glasner now.
00:23:36Chance for the winner.
00:23:37He's snatched at that.
00:23:41What entertainment.
00:23:43These two have served up this afternoon.
00:23:47I cannot be happy.
00:23:48I'm not pleased.
00:23:49I'm upset.
00:23:50I'm angry.
00:23:50As you want.
00:23:51Because the call we've received in the 96 minute.
00:23:54Yes, I cannot accept it.
00:23:55I think the VAR has been influenced by the previous decision when he has called the referee.
00:23:59The referee has watched the play.
00:24:01Doesn't attend.
00:24:02His correction.
00:24:03And then probably the VAR has decided, I'm not going to intervene anymore.
00:24:06I didn't think it was going to be quite that eventful.
00:24:08But it was.
00:24:09And yeah, I think in the end maybe it draws fair.
00:24:13Questionable last penalty call.
00:24:14But that's football at the end of the day, isn't it?
00:24:17I'm so proud of the performance today.
00:24:20And not just the result.
00:24:22But how we played.
00:24:23How many chances we created.
00:24:25And we have also big credit to Bournemouth.
00:24:28They were so ruthless today.
00:24:30Every chance was a goal.
00:24:31So they had eight finishes overall.
00:24:32And three goals.
00:24:34But the mentality of the team.
00:24:36The way we played.
00:24:37The problems we caused them.
00:24:39It's incredible what these players are doing.
00:24:41I want to win every game.
00:24:43And I think I have the ball to win this game.
00:24:47Even if I score the archer.
00:24:50It's up to me to score that goal.
00:24:52And I didn't score.
00:24:54And that's why I'm like that.
00:24:55What a game this was.
00:24:58And we'll get on to Iriola's comments there.
00:25:01And the penalty incident in a minute.
00:25:02But Jean-Philippe Mateta had a fantastic day.
00:25:05You have to go back to 2016 for a player to score a hat-trick in a home game.
00:25:08And not get a win.
00:25:09Andy Carroll.
00:25:10For West Ham.
00:25:10Well first of all I've got to say.
00:25:12Two really excellent sides.
00:25:13And it was a brilliant game.
00:25:15But Mateta.
00:25:16He's just really, really difficult to play against.
00:25:19Defenders you know do not enjoy playing against this guy.
00:25:23He's awkward.
00:25:24He's as game as they come.
00:25:26He'll run in behind.
00:25:27I mean he actually should have had a hat-trick in the first half.
00:25:30Could have had a hat-trick in the first half.
00:25:31That was the most difficult one.
00:25:33His movement is really, really good.
00:25:36That's a fantastic ball in.
00:25:37And he should score again.
00:25:38This is probably the best chance in the first half.
00:25:41Falls to him in a nice position again.
00:25:44Just can't get the connection that he wants.
00:25:47But then all of a sudden I said about his movement.
00:25:49Hold up players excellent.
00:25:50Bringing people into the game.
00:25:52But his movement.
00:25:53To get into the six-yard box.
00:25:55After he's played the pass.
00:25:57That's the impressive thing.
00:25:58His movement again.
00:25:59The defender's with him.
00:26:01And then two seconds later he's not.
00:26:02Because of, as I said, his movement again.
00:26:04And that's a clever finish.
00:26:06Then he gets his penalty.
00:26:08His hat-trick goal.
00:26:09And you're thinking.
00:26:10He can't.
00:26:11Can he?
00:26:11And this was the easiest one of the lot, wasn't it?
00:26:15I mean, he's leaning back.
00:26:16Can anyone that understands French can understand what he's about to say.
00:26:20There you go.
00:26:21It's like me below.
00:26:21But you know, not very often you see someone scoring a hat-trick and be so disappointed at the end of the game.
00:26:28But look at those stats.
00:26:30I mean, 11 shots.
00:26:31Shots inside the box.
00:26:32Nine.
00:26:33As I said, he's hat-trick.
00:26:34But I love the way he plays.
00:26:37Because he's a nightmare for defenders.
00:26:39So Bournemouth feel a little bit hard done by.
00:26:40That they ended up not getting all three points.
00:26:42And Iriola's point was that the referee perhaps wasn't going to be called over to go and have a little look at the screen.
00:26:49Because he'd been called over earlier and not changed his on-field decision.
00:26:53No, I don't.
00:26:55I think he's clutching there, to be honest.
00:26:58But in terms of the penalty, I think he's actually quite harsh.
00:27:02I think, Dekka, today on Geyi.
00:27:05The only problem, he's not looking at the ball.
00:27:07And the referee had warned him beforehand, so he was going to give the penalty in this moment.
00:27:14But I still think it's a little bit harsh.
00:27:16Because they're both going back and forth with each other.
00:27:18And to give that, yeah.
00:27:19I think you need to see the consistency also.
00:27:21I get why he's given that.
00:27:23But let's hope that another referee would do the same next weekend.
00:27:26What about 19-year-old Kruppi?
00:27:28Yeah, brilliant.
00:27:28Getting two on his first start.
00:27:29First start as well.
00:27:30Two goals, yeah.
00:27:31Very, very good.
00:27:32And it's that recruitment that Bournemouth obviously have to be so good at, don't they?
00:27:36Well, we spoke about the defensive situation that they've done so well in recruiting the players.
00:27:40Got a forward there on his first start.
00:27:42He's got a couple of goals.
00:27:43Brilliant.
00:27:43Ninth and twelfth, the finishes that he's had so far, Iriola, as Bournemouth manager.
00:27:48Where can they realistically push on to?
00:27:50It depends who they keep.
00:27:52I think Alan's exactly right.
00:27:55The recruitment's been excellent.
00:27:56I think when we talk about Brighton and what they have done.
00:28:01But Iriola and the people down there have done a brilliant job.
00:28:04I think for him, when he first came to the club, I was thinking, what is he trying to do?
00:28:11And when he first came, he was pushing really high and some of the results wasn't going their way.
00:28:15But the way he's managed to lose players, get players in and still buy into the system what they're doing and do it with effect, he's just a top coach.
00:28:23He really is.
00:28:24And the players that they lose, they go to Paris Saint-Germain, they go to Liverpool.
00:28:27They're selling for big money to big clubs, big moves as well.
00:28:31So as a player, it would be quite an attractive place to go.
00:28:34And I also think when you're looking at the players, what he does, I think, really well is gives his players the freedom to go and play.
00:28:41Just go and express yourselves and you can see they're enjoying their football.
00:28:44OK. Well, in form, Manchester City faced Everton with an excellent record in this fixture.
00:28:50The Toffees' last league win at City came 15 years ago during David Moyes' first spell in charge.
00:28:55Steve Bauer watched this one.
00:28:56Manchester City back at the Etihad where they've won seven of their last eight Premier League games.
00:29:04But they must do without the injured Rodri today.
00:29:07So Nico Gonzalez starts.
00:29:09There are also recalls for Doku and Ake and Marmouche returns as a substitute.
00:29:15Everton are unable to play on loan Jack Grealish against his parent club,
00:29:19but they are able to welcome back Kiernan Dewsbury Hall after suspension.
00:29:23Beto has preferred to Barry up front.
00:29:25Alcaraz preferred to Dibbling and Keane is fit to start.
00:29:32Everton to say they are due a win against Manchester City.
00:29:36There's something of an understatement.
00:29:38One victory in 24 Premier League meetings.
00:29:43It was a little loose from Ake and Njai's on to it.
00:29:47Beto trying to get into the penalty area.
00:29:48There he is!
00:29:50And he's wondering just how he didn't make the all-important contact.
00:29:55Excellent try from Njai.
00:29:57And subsequent ball.
00:29:59Oh, and that's how close Beto was.
00:30:07As did Garner there on Haaland.
00:30:12City keen to keep things moving.
00:30:15Nunes.
00:30:15Savino.
00:30:18Savino.
00:30:20Really nicely tied ball into Savino.
00:30:24Almost had too much time to think about it.
00:30:28Have a landmark today.
00:30:30His 350th Premier League game as a manager.
00:30:35Done too badly in the previous 349, has he?
00:30:39Again, Savino.
00:30:41That time Mikelenko got his foot in.
00:30:44And City have their second corner of the game.
00:30:49Now, yeah, it's a score from a corner in the Premier League this season.
00:30:53Everton will hope that continues here.
00:30:54Oh, it nearly didn't.
00:30:58Well, Pickford didn't move here.
00:31:00So congested.
00:31:02It would have been an own goal of Jake O'Brien.
00:31:07Njai for Everton.
00:31:08We're trying to get numbers forward.
00:31:10Alcaraz is bursting down the left-hand side.
00:31:13Here comes Adresa Gay.
00:31:14He's trying to pick out Alcaraz.
00:31:18Fantastic defending from Reinders.
00:31:22Here's Njai.
00:31:23Such a box of tricks.
00:31:24Ilian Njai!
00:31:26Turned over by Donnarumma.
00:31:29With his first save of the game.
00:31:31But in those moments, Everton have looked a threat on the break.
00:31:36Top scorer Njai has been at the heart of most of it.
00:31:44Organo is looking for the run of Dewsbury Hall.
00:31:47Harland with the block.
00:31:49And Harland's now on the charge here for Manchester City.
00:31:52Reinders.
00:31:53Doku!
00:31:54Denied by Pickford.
00:31:56And cleared by Mikhelenko.
00:32:00And in the blink of an eye,
00:32:01from that, with Everton in possession on halfway,
00:32:05Manchester City
00:32:06sends something.
00:32:08And in the end,
00:32:09it was straight at Jordan Pickford.
00:32:14Akei.
00:32:23Reinders to pick out Savinho.
00:32:26Who's round Mikhelenko.
00:32:28It's Savinho!
00:32:29And Jordan Pickford to the rescue again.
00:32:32And he's virtually the last kick of this first half.
00:32:36It's been a fascinating battle, this.
00:32:37The Brazilian against the Ukrainian.
00:32:39The Brazilian won this one.
00:32:41And he caught that much better.
00:32:42Clodin.
00:32:52Now that's a nicely weighted ball.
00:32:54O'Reilly in.
00:32:55There he is!
00:32:57We've hardly mentioned his name,
00:32:59but the main man steps forward again.
00:33:02Erling Haaland
00:33:05into double Premier League figures already for this season.
00:33:09Forget touches of the ball.
00:33:11Forget goal involvements.
00:33:12This is what he's all about.
00:33:15And from the moment O'Reilly was looking to cross that,
00:33:18he was on the move.
00:33:20There's the look from O'Reilly.
00:33:22Lovely delivery.
00:33:22And the end result was never, ever in doubt.
00:33:28Deadlock broken.
00:33:29And no surprise with the name on the score sheet.
00:33:33And incidentally, that's the third time
00:33:38that Haaland has been into double figures
00:33:41in the first eight league games of the season.
00:33:43Come as no surprise, nobody else has managed that.
00:33:45Oskerbop.
00:33:52Lovely turn from Foden.
00:33:54He's picked out Savinho.
00:33:58Haaland wants it pulled back.
00:33:59And Haaland makes it two.
00:34:05Erling Haaland at the double.
00:34:08Two in five second half minutes.
00:34:11Have a completely different complexion on this game.
00:34:14Talk about enjoying his football.
00:34:19What a spell he's enjoying.
00:34:22Demanded it here.
00:34:23Pulled away.
00:34:25I think that went through the legs of Tarkovsky.
00:34:27Which deceived Pickford.
00:34:30Two for Haaland.
00:34:31And two for Manchester City.
00:34:40Foden.
00:34:41He's looking for Haaland.
00:34:42Now then, here's the hat-trick opportunity.
00:34:44I'm denied by Pickford.
00:34:48He's on it again.
00:34:51That time blocked.
00:34:52And followed in and wide.
00:34:54From Cherky.
00:34:56But for all the delight of the two goals.
00:35:00That will eat away at him.
00:35:01On the verge of a 28th career hat-trick.
00:35:04And the majority of Vietti hadn't expected him here to complete it.
00:35:09Pickford's left hand first.
00:35:11And then Tarkovsky's block.
00:35:13Dibbling on Cherky.
00:35:22Silly yellow card for Tyler Dibbling.
00:35:24Here goes Haaland.
00:35:31Is it this time?
00:35:33No!
00:35:34Denied by Pickford again.
00:35:37Oscar Bobbs picked it up.
00:35:39Haaland again.
00:35:40He slams the turf in sheer frustration.
00:35:47Brilliant movement.
00:35:52Really well found.
00:35:55Leg to Pickford this time.
00:35:58Denied him the match ball.
00:36:01This one wouldn't quite come down for him.
00:36:03A lot of work.
00:36:05They were not easy at all.
00:36:07And the first half more troubled.
00:36:11We couldn't really settle our game.
00:36:13And a completely different second half.
00:36:15And three points.
00:36:17When you've got Erling in the form that he's in.
00:36:19What are five minutes again for him to turn the game around?
00:36:23We cannot rely on completely the team and him.
00:36:26We need other players.
00:36:28Wingers, stacking midfielders.
00:36:30And other ones we need to.
00:36:34They have to make a step up to score goals.
00:36:37Of course we play to provide Erling the quality they have.
00:36:41The passes and score goals.
00:36:44But other players have to do it again.
00:36:46The job against a lot of the better teams than us
00:36:49is to make sure we challenge them when we put in a performance.
00:36:51And for long periods of the game we did.
00:36:53So we move on.
00:36:55I'm disappointed with the result.
00:36:56Not with how the players performed today.
00:36:58Well because he was the outstanding player today
00:37:01I think we should have a little bit of time
00:37:03to really kind of wax lyrical about Erling Haaland.
00:37:06And have a look at that.
00:37:07That's the quickest players to reach ten Premier League goals.
00:37:10And Erling Haaland occupies the top three places.
00:37:13There is of course a Newcastle United legend on there.
00:37:15But it's not you.
00:37:16It's Les.
00:37:17It's Les Ferdinand.
00:37:19What happened Alan?
00:37:19Was it a streaky striker?
00:37:21Yeah.
00:37:22I remember when one goal every game was alright.
00:37:25But not anymore was it?
00:37:26He took ten games.
00:37:2792, 93.
00:37:29Not good enough.
00:37:30He was today at his unplayable best at times wasn't he?
00:37:33Yeah I mean it seems quite ridiculous me doing an analysis piece on a striker
00:37:37where we've got Alan Shearer.
00:37:39Record Premier League goalscorer.
00:37:41But I want to talk about from a defensive point of view
00:37:44and what Everton did.
00:37:45So as we roll it on here, it's really interesting with Haaland's movement.
00:37:52They always talk about it doesn't have many touches but it's his smart movement.
00:37:57And Keane there can see him.
00:37:59It's absolutely perfect.
00:38:01And as we roll it on now, Haaland can see the back of his shirt.
00:38:06So, can we just hold it there for a moment?
00:38:09We always talk as a defender now to defend the space.
00:38:13So he has to run back as quick as possible, the two centre-halves, into that space.
00:38:18And Haaland knows he can outrun him.
00:38:20But what he decides to do as we roll it on here now is just check his run.
00:38:27And that is IQ and his unbelievable game football intelligence.
00:38:32Again here, absolutely outstanding.
00:38:36Just gets in these brilliant positions where he just holds his run.
00:38:41Perfect.
00:38:42Now, if we hold it here, OK, as the ball for Man City goes out wide,
00:38:47as a centre-half, you have to protect the near post.
00:38:51So, as we run it on slowly here, Tarkovsky is in two minds
00:38:56whether to drop back or to go to the danger, which is Haaland.
00:39:01It's too late for Pickford.
00:39:03It's easy.
00:39:03But the next clip is my absolute favourite.
00:39:07We'll just stop it here for a moment.
00:39:11Keane there is in a perfect position.
00:39:13You see Foden on the ball there.
00:39:15So when Foden's on the ball now, how you learn to defend,
00:39:19if he's got time and space, you have dropped off.
00:39:22He's dropped off.
00:39:23He's given himself five yards.
00:39:24We roll on the ball.
00:39:26We roll it on now.
00:39:27Now, as he plays that pass, Haaland still gets it.
00:39:31And that's what we talk about, unplayable.
00:39:34Defenders are doing the right things, but they still can't defend him.
00:39:38When he's in this form, he really is unstoppable.
00:39:43And his goal record this season, what's he got?
00:39:4523 goals in 13 games for club and country.
00:39:48It's just phenomenal.
00:39:49Yeah, let's have a look at where that puts him in kind of Europe's elite, if you like.
00:39:54And again, Harry Kane was scoring tonight for Bayern Munich.
00:39:58But look, this is club and country.
00:39:59And his rate of scoring is the best in Europe this season.
00:40:04He's got everything on him.
00:40:05Yeah, I mean, you're talking about three amazing players there.
00:40:07But for me, if you're building from scratch what you want as the ideal centre forward, look at Haaland.
00:40:16I mean, he's got obviously the goals.
00:40:19Pace, movement, strength, good in the air.
00:40:22He doesn't mind being roughed up.
00:40:24It doesn't bother him if he doesn't have five or six touches within a minute.
00:40:28Oh, he has one touch per half, as long as that touch is a goal.
00:40:32There's not many players like that.
00:40:34So for me, he's almost perfect.
00:40:37He really is.
00:40:39He's a fantastic talent.
00:40:41I love watching him.
00:40:42And we're lucky to have him in our league.
00:40:44And obviously, Man City have got an incredible player on their hands.
00:40:48And they needed him today.
00:40:49Because the first half, there wasn't much there, was there?
00:40:51Yeah, I think Everton had some really good chances with Beto.
00:40:54But in the end, the quality shone through.
00:40:57OK, thank you very much.
00:40:58Well, Premier League leaders Arsenal travel to Fulham,
00:41:01looking to make it five wins in a row in all competitions.
00:41:04Jonathan Pearce was at Craven Cottage.
00:41:07Arsenal are now odds-on to land their first title since 2004.
00:41:12The Cottagers look to go four home league games unbeaten at the start of a season
00:41:16for the first time since 2011, with three changes.
00:41:19Kearney gets a first league start this season for the injured Lukic.
00:41:22Cuenca, a first Premier start since the opening day for Bassi,
00:41:26who's only on the bench after international duty.
00:41:28And Jimenez is fit to return after a groin problem.
00:41:30Diop drops out.
00:41:32Arsenal just one defeat in their last 14 against Fulham enter a favourable run of fixtures,
00:41:36looking to cement top spot with one in fours changed with a win over West Ham.
00:41:40Zubimendi for the injured Odegaard.
00:41:42Just three goals conceded in ten games in all.
00:41:44It's their best ever defensive start.
00:41:47Fulham went into this, having lost their previous two.
00:41:51Last lost three league games in a row in December 23.
00:41:54But at home, they're a different proposition.
00:41:56He's in minutes.
00:42:03And Berger to Wilson.
00:42:06Went to plant it.
00:42:09Really decent start here by Fulham.
00:42:12Causing this morning's league leaders' problems.
00:42:15Helmed up his body to try and bend it in.
00:42:18To add to the goal he scored against Brentford back in September.
00:42:24All a little bit slow from Arsenal in possession.
00:42:27Not a lot of movement up front.
00:42:28Canofiori's now made a dash into the middle.
00:42:31He's found by Trasada and scores!
00:42:33Quarter of an hour gone.
00:42:35But there's a flag up.
00:42:36And it won't count.
00:42:38That's a real moment of invention from Arsenal in the game.
00:42:42Canofiori breaking lines with his run.
00:42:45Lovely finish, mind you, but it won't count.
00:42:52He's as it.
00:42:54Again, dwelt on it too long.
00:42:57And King will race away for Fulham.
00:42:58Chased by Zubomendi.
00:43:01Who leaves him to Gabriel.
00:43:05Still King.
00:43:07Oh, deceptive right, I have to say.
00:43:09He didn't mean it.
00:43:10He was looking for Iwobi in the middle.
00:43:12He's had work.
00:43:14Maybe he did mean it.
00:43:16He'll say he did.
00:43:18Timber has Saka down the line.
00:43:20That's it, making a run as well.
00:43:22Just inside him.
00:43:23But again, good work by Fulham here.
00:43:24Now there's a gap.
00:43:25Saka on to Jokeres.
00:43:27Is he onside?
00:43:28Carried by Leino.
00:43:29Trussard leaped for the loose ball.
00:43:31And connected by the keeper second time.
00:43:34Jokeros played on by Castagne.
00:43:37Fizzed the shot in.
00:43:37And Leino got down to it well.
00:43:40That's the best we've seen from Arsenal.
00:43:43Mick Jagger watching on.
00:43:51Arsenal finishing the first half strongly.
00:43:53Saka to take on Sessegnor.
00:43:59Oh, that's dangerous to cross in.
00:44:00Comes out of Calafiore.
00:44:01Good hit.
00:44:02Couldn't keep it down.
00:44:04Get it full flat on the left foot volley.
00:44:07Arsenal beginning to create.
00:44:13Timber looks for Saka.
00:44:15To take on Sessegnor.
00:44:17And he's got away from him here.
00:44:19Saka still going.
00:44:20Pokes it square.
00:44:21It's come up a defender.
00:44:22In the end, just about cleared away by Castagne.
00:44:25Determined run by Pekai Osaka, the Arsenal captain.
00:44:29Picked it up there.
00:44:30Got away from Sessegnor.
00:44:32Stayed on his feet.
00:44:33That's a heavy touch, but he was too strong in that challenge.
00:44:37A game that Arsenal would have expected to win.
00:44:41Berger.
00:44:44And King has wrestled it the way of Fulham.
00:44:46Jimenez managed to scramble it on to Wilson.
00:44:49Back it goes.
00:44:50Real Jimenez.
00:44:51Vital touch by Timber.
00:44:52Iwobi.
00:44:53Back through the penalty.
00:44:54And Wilson arrives.
00:44:56Fulham fans respond.
00:44:58Crescendo of noise.
00:45:00Tenacity.
00:45:02Endeavour.
00:45:04And in the end, the ball was played back by Iwobi.
00:45:07Met it true enough, but couldn't keep it down.
00:45:09Come on, come on, Fulham is the cry.
00:45:12Fulham.
00:45:12Fulham.
00:45:12Fulham.
00:45:12Fulham.
00:45:13Fulham.
00:45:13Fulham.
00:45:14Fulham.
00:45:15Fulham.
00:45:15Fulham.
00:45:16Fulham has Timber down the right-hand side.
00:45:17keeping Ben wide out of the team because he's a more attacking threat.
00:45:21Saka's squeeze it through to Esa.
00:45:24Fulham.
00:45:24Fulham.
00:45:25Fulham.
00:45:26Fulham.
00:45:27It's a good challenge, and Cuenca stayed down.
00:45:30Again, he's holding his face.
00:45:32Just got bumped there from Jokeres.
00:45:37Fulham determinedly have held on for 57 minutes.
00:45:41Here comes the cross.
00:45:43It's in this time.
00:45:44Trossard.
00:45:45Scorer of many, an important goal was in there.
00:45:49Did he get the touch?
00:45:50He thinks he did.
00:45:51Gabriel was involved as well.
00:45:53Arsenal lead.
00:45:5458 minutes gone.
00:45:56Trossard arriving at the far post.
00:45:58The deadlock is broken.
00:46:00One at the near post by Gabriel.
00:46:02And there's the Belgian international to force it in.
00:46:05Coach's goal for Trossard.
00:46:08Now the best teams find a way.
00:46:14If they can hold on to this lead, then Arsenal would have come through a tricky day.
00:46:21Saka.
00:46:25Taking on Kevin.
00:46:27That is going to be a penalty kick.
00:46:31Risky challenge by the substitute, it's the first thing he's done since coming on.
00:46:34VAR was asking the question whether the ball was touched.
00:46:40Sure Atwell has told Anthony Taylor to go to the monitor.
00:46:46He's made contact with the ball there.
00:46:49The ball moves off the contact from the foot.
00:46:52This has to be overturned, the decision.
00:46:54And here comes the referee.
00:46:57After review.
00:46:58And we'll hear his description.
00:46:59Fuller 22 makes a challenge.
00:47:02And plays the ball.
00:47:04Therefore no foul is committed.
00:47:06No penalty.
00:47:07No penalty.
00:47:08Martinelli.
00:47:18Squeezes the pass up wide to Saka.
00:47:21Timbers there ahead of him.
00:47:23Into Jokerez again.
00:47:24Back to goal.
00:47:25Good swivel.
00:47:26It's parried.
00:47:27And that's a good double save.
00:47:29Martinelli denied in the end.
00:47:31Well there you can see what Jokerez can do.
00:47:34Decent save.
00:47:35And then the follow up save from Martinelli was just as good.
00:47:39We came to a really difficult place.
00:47:41We had experience in the last two seasons not winning here.
00:47:43And we wanted to make another step against that really good side.
00:47:47And keep knocking on the door.
00:47:48And keep insisting.
00:47:49Because the way they play demands that.
00:47:52But I'm very happy.
00:47:54At the point the corner was taken.
00:47:56I saw Gabi go in a duel.
00:47:57And I went to the back post when it happened.
00:48:00So I'm really pleased the ball came there.
00:48:03And did the last job.
00:48:05Where Gabi else jumped so high that it's almost impossible.
00:48:08If you don't stop him in the run.
00:48:09And we try it.
00:48:10Most of the time we did very well in our defensive set pieces.
00:48:13In that moment he jumped in a way that was very difficult for us to control.
00:48:18Three goals conceded in 11 games.
00:48:20That's the best ever defensive start in Arsenal's history.
00:48:24Yeah.
00:48:25I'm so happy for the team.
00:48:27For everyone.
00:48:28Because we work very hard and training every day.
00:48:32And yeah that's the reward we get as well.
00:48:34If you keep a clean sheet you need only one goal to win a game.
00:48:37And it was a tough game for us today.
00:48:39And we did it that way.
00:48:41Well Jonathan said it there.
00:48:42They are the best defensively in Europe.
00:48:44They've gone back to back games now.
00:48:45Without letting the opposition have a shot.
00:48:47First time in 22 years.
00:48:48So what's improved?
00:48:49Because they were already good last season defensively.
00:48:51Yeah I think they defend really well as a team.
00:48:55In all parts of the pitch.
00:48:57So I just want to show you the first clip.
00:48:59You would say this is a high block.
00:49:01If Alan you forgive me for saying that.
00:49:03But in terms of it was a throw in.
00:49:06And look at the reaction from Gabriel to get back in.
00:49:10Now you've got a four versus four.
00:49:13And as the clip materialises.
00:49:16The ball goes wide.
00:49:18Gabriel's back into position.
00:49:21The ball's going to get circulated around again.
00:49:24And before you know it.
00:49:26You've got the whole team behind the ball.
00:49:29That is defending as a group.
00:49:31As a team.
00:49:32Knowing exactly what they need to do.
00:49:34So you've got the high block.
00:49:35Now we're in the mid block.
00:49:37Arsenal on the ball.
00:49:39They give away the ball.
00:49:40Sloppily.
00:49:41And you think in this situation.
00:49:44Will they panic?
00:49:45Nope.
00:49:46Rice.
00:49:47Sales Gabriel to go left.
00:49:48Calafiore doubles up with him.
00:49:49Rice goes into the centre back position.
00:49:51Absolute brilliant defending.
00:49:53So they've had the high.
00:49:54We've had the middle.
00:49:55And this is what they've been doing.
00:49:57Especially in the Champions League.
00:49:58Against really good sides.
00:50:00In that low block.
00:50:01Saying to Fulham.
00:50:02Play round us.
00:50:04Because you're not going to play through us.
00:50:05And if they do get through.
00:50:07It's going to have to be something.
00:50:08Exceptional to really do that.
00:50:11Nice and compact.
00:50:13Excellent.
00:50:14And yeah.
00:50:16I mean.
00:50:17The compactness in the centre of the pitch.
00:50:19Of this team.
00:50:20Is just brilliant.
00:50:21So the conclusion of that.
00:50:23If they continue to do this.
00:50:25Last season they drew 1-0.
00:50:26Today they get the win.
00:50:27And if they want to win the league.
00:50:28They need to carry on.
00:50:29With this form.
00:50:30Because look at that.
00:50:31Goals conceded.
00:50:32First.
00:50:33Clean sheets first.
00:50:34Big chances against first.
00:50:35XG.
00:50:36And the rest is history.
00:50:38May well be.
00:50:40Maybe.
00:50:41As you allude to there.
00:50:42Defensively.
00:50:43Yes.
00:50:44Very very strong.
00:50:45They've scored the same amount of goals.
00:50:46At this stage.
00:50:47As they did last year.
00:50:48Which is 15 goals.
00:50:49And all season long.
00:50:50We were hearing.
00:50:51They really need a centre forward.
00:50:52They need somebody.
00:50:53You know.
00:50:54Bag them a load of goals.
00:50:55They buy the centre forward.
00:50:56But has he helped improve them?
00:50:57Yeah.
00:50:58He hasn't got the goals.
00:50:59I mean.
00:51:00He's not in the league.
00:51:01Of the three.
00:51:02We showed in the previous clip.
00:51:03Far from that.
00:51:04But I think he brings a different strength.
00:51:05There's no doubt that he will have to improve his goal scoring.
00:51:09As you said.
00:51:10He's only got three.
00:51:11But one of his strengths.
00:51:12Which has suited Arsenal.
00:51:13Is.
00:51:14He actually goes the other way.
00:51:15He goes in behind.
00:51:16And I think when he does that.
00:51:18That then creates space for others to play.
00:51:20Because.
00:51:21Last season.
00:51:22You had maybe Havertz.
00:51:23Or Mourinho.
00:51:24Mourinho.
00:51:25Coming short.
00:51:26And that's easier for teams to defend against.
00:51:28But when you're running the other way.
00:51:30They get deeper and deeper.
00:51:31Deeper.
00:51:32That then opens the space up for others to play.
00:51:34So I think.
00:51:35From that.
00:51:36Point of view.
00:51:37He has improved Arsenal.
00:51:38And will he get the goals?
00:51:39Do you feel like.
00:51:40I think he will get the goals.
00:51:41Obviously nowhere near as many as he got last season.
00:51:43But he will get the goals.
00:51:44With the number of.
00:51:45Chances that Arsenal create.
00:51:47He will.
00:51:48And his numbers should improve.
00:51:49Okay.
00:51:50Two games.
00:51:51On tomorrow's match of the day.
00:51:55And Akudas has the chance now.
00:51:56And it's in.
00:51:58Malen.
00:51:59A chance for his second.
00:52:00A lethal finish to the Dutchman.
00:52:04Gapot scores for Liverpool.
00:52:06Chesco out.
00:52:07It's in for Manchester United.
00:52:15There's live commentary of both of those games.
00:52:17On BBC Sounds tomorrow.
00:52:18Premier League Sunday begins at midday.
00:52:20You can also see highlights of all the week's Champions League games.
00:52:23On Wednesday night at 10.40 on BBC One.
00:52:25And if you fancy something a bit different.
00:52:27You can watch the final day.
00:52:29Of Grand Sumo Tournament.
00:52:31Live from the Royal Albert Hall.
00:52:33On iPlayer.
00:52:34From 2 o'clock.
00:52:36Winless Wolves travelled to face.
00:52:38A Sunderland side.
00:52:39Unbeaten at home.
00:52:40Since returning to the top flight.
00:52:41Your commentator is Guy Mowbray.
00:52:43It's been a more than decent start by Sunderland.
00:52:47And a very successful return to the Premier League for Granit Xhaka.
00:52:51He's provided the assist for all the team's last three goals.
00:52:54And has fond memories of Wolves from last time he played them.
00:52:57Scoring twice in his final Arsenal appearance.
00:53:00A 5-0 win in May 2023.
00:53:02Fellow 33-year-old Matt Doherty is the only one playing today.
00:53:06Who also figured the last time these clubs met.
00:53:09Way back and a division down in May 2018.
00:53:12He missed Wolves' last game against Brighton.
00:53:14Following a wrist operation.
00:53:16But he's quickly back.
00:53:17To lead them in their quest.
00:53:19For a first win of the season.
00:53:21The Black Cats purring.
00:53:23Especially at home.
00:53:24Whilst Wolves are howling.
00:53:26And if they don't get that first win here today.
00:53:28Or against Burnley next weekend.
00:53:30Then the anguish will be at a maximum.
00:53:37Siddiqui.
00:53:39Isidore.
00:53:40Johnston scampers back towards his goal.
00:53:42Isidore's got a lot to do.
00:53:44But he's done it.
00:53:47And now the flag goes up.
00:53:50So Isidore's celebrations are cut short.
00:53:54Brilliantly finished by Wilson Isidore.
00:53:57Who is looking to carry on being Mr. 100% at home.
00:54:00He's scored in every game at the Stadium of Light.
00:54:02In the Premier League this season.
00:54:04And for a brief moment he thought he'd done it again.
00:54:06Looking for a third home win already this season.
00:54:11The last time they were in the Premier League.
00:54:13In 2016-17.
00:54:14They only won three at home all season.
00:54:16For Xhaka.
00:54:17Le Fay.
00:54:18Effortlessly found by Xhaka.
00:54:19And he turns Doherty with ease as well.
00:54:20Here's Mukiele.
00:54:21He's going for the return.
00:54:22And he's scored.
00:54:23What a wonderful Sunderland move.
00:54:24Finished off by Nordi Mukiele.
00:54:25It's for Sunderland goal.
00:54:26Look at Mukiele as soon as he laid it off.
00:54:27He demanded the return from Trajou.
00:54:28And he managed to get the shot.
00:54:29Through Sunderland goal.
00:54:30He's going for the return.
00:54:31He's going for the return.
00:54:32And he's scored.
00:54:33What a wonderful Sunderland move.
00:54:34Finished off by Nordi Mukiele.
00:54:35It's for Sunderland goal.
00:54:36Look at Mukiele as soon as he laid it off.
00:54:37He demanded the return from Trajou.
00:54:38And he managed to get the shot.
00:54:39Through Sunderland goal.
00:54:40I's got a reserve.
00:54:41And, after near Sunderland goal.
00:54:42All day.
00:54:46Let's go.
00:54:47And then here's the return of Alain Trejo.
00:54:50He's got thebes.
00:54:51And there's not a dam.
00:54:52It's going for Sunderland goal.
00:54:54He's got to do the full defense.
00:54:56Chek.
00:54:57And now he does from Sunderland goal.
00:55:00And he's got the fort.
00:55:02And now he's got the surgery.
00:55:03Yeah, that's the last round.
00:55:05And now I'm getting ready.
00:55:06Traore, cut out by Ugo Buena, the Wolves have got to hang on just for the moment
00:55:14because Sundland are well on top of Vito Pereira's team.
00:55:21Helt on by Ballard, and off the post, Trae Hume so close to making it two.
00:55:30I see the cubs whirring in Trae Hume's mind, head it, kick it, what do I do?
00:55:34I think he picked the right option, it's very nearly scored.
00:55:41Hugo Gomez was going for it,
00:55:45Kiel is going away with it, Rigg, oh, risky, Ballard couldn't collect it,
00:55:50Strand-Larsen couldn't convert it.
00:55:55João Gomez, Wolves nearly gifted a way back into the game, Andre, and that one's flown.
00:56:04It's felt like a half of two halves, Sundland on top for the first quarter,
00:56:10the Wolves are well in this game.
00:56:15Andre, João Gomez, Rodrigo Gomez,
00:56:21Lugo Buena, Arias knocks it down, and Munezzi lets fly!
00:56:32Roofs positioned absolutely brilliantly, a really simple save for him because of where he started.
00:56:39He's too close to the giant frame of Robin Roofs, and curling towards the goalkeeper all the time.
00:56:46Siddiqui.
00:56:49Le Fay is bounced off him, the referee does now stop the game.
00:56:55He was happy to see if some sort of advantage would develop, but it didn't.
00:56:58That's a difficult one to defend, but Wolves have managed it, Ballard couldn't get the touch at the end.
00:57:13Look at how this bounces, a bit of spin on it, that's what takes it away from the flying Ballard.
00:57:20I think his expression rather sums up this second half.
00:57:25So does theirs.
00:57:30Arakadari down to Strand Larson, Arakadari misses it.
00:57:36And then the chance is put wide, and it was another big chance.
00:57:41Chat Shua was in behind.
00:57:43Just wonder now if the Wolves' candles flickered out, might be a case of them needing to have
00:57:49done more when they did have spells on top, and for much of this half that's been the case.
00:57:58Fair Lopez challenged by Alderete, but he's got the better of him.
00:58:02Fair Lopez puts the next ball into the Sunderland box, frantic defending now.
00:58:07And here Trouda's away with it, and look at the break, it's Talby.
00:58:11He's got Le Fay up there, he's got Mayenda further over.
00:58:15And Johnston's been beaten by his own player, 2-0 Sunderland, own goal Critchie.
00:58:25Now the win is sealed.
00:58:28Wolves' rotten luck continues.
00:58:31Perhaps appropriately enough, beaten by the Blackcats.
00:58:34Talby leading the counter charge.
00:58:39He was looking for Mayenda at the back.
00:58:42Critchie knew he had to cut it out somehow, but Johnston was completely wrong-footed by that.
00:58:48Wolves are staying bottom.
00:58:50Sunderland are staying with that feeling of flying high in the Premier League.
00:58:56Was it a little bit anxious in the second half without that second goal on the board?
00:59:00Yeah, probably a bit, because we are still a young team.
00:59:03We have limited shared experience, so you can't buy maturity.
00:59:11You have to experience different situations.
00:59:13It wasn't another one.
00:59:15And at least the mindset, the togetherness, helped us to keep this kinship.
00:59:21We have two or three chances that we cannot lose, we cannot miss.
00:59:25That is football.
00:59:28Keep working.
00:59:31And prepare the next game, because this is a game that we need, that we must win.
00:59:37Like today, but we must score goals, not concede goals.
00:59:42And this is what we should do.
00:59:45Nordi Mukieli, he seems to sum this team up.
00:59:48He plays happy football.
00:59:50Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
00:59:52He has a really good energy, and he's really well connected with our project,
00:59:59our team, and he's a good player.
01:00:01We play very well in the first half and the second, and we scored two goals, and we don't concede.
01:00:07So this is really important for us, for the team, and for the confidence.
01:00:11And yeah, I'm really happy also for my first goal at home.
01:00:15And yeah, just hope that we will keep going like we do, because we did a really good game today.
01:00:21Well, no spoilers, but the fact that Sunderland are higher up the running order than Newcastle on the show,
01:00:25and you're here, might tell us something about what's going to happen in that match.
01:00:28But let's not go down that road, because actually, huge credit to Sunderland for their start of the season.
01:00:32Have a little look at this.
01:00:33Ninety-nine teams have been promoted to the Premier League in its history,
01:00:37and they are joint fifth in the amount of points they've managed to accrue in their first eight games.
01:00:43Joint with, obviously, the teams there, right, going up to Middlesbrough,
01:00:46who are the only team out of that list who actually ended up being relegated.
01:00:50So it's boding very well for them this start to the season and their home form.
01:00:54So well. I think they signed really good players.
01:00:57Yes, they spent a lot of money, but they brought quality into the squad.
01:01:01Xhaka's been good, Muchielli as well.
01:01:04And you want to give Sunderland some praise, don't you, Alan?
01:01:06Well, you watch this game, Micah, so you can talk about them.
01:01:09But we did say about their home form was always going to be key,
01:01:12and that's been part of their success.
01:01:15£161 million they spent, 14 players have been brought in,
01:01:18but they've got to gel, they've got to work, they've got to be quality.
01:01:21Yeah, I think that's the most important thing.
01:01:23You can sign whoever you want, but they've got to buy into exactly what they want to do,
01:01:28and they've got to perform.
01:01:29And like you said, other than, what, three wins and a draw at home,
01:01:32they're using their stadium as a fortress.
01:01:35And, you know, I want to eat a little bit of humble pie as well,
01:01:37because of the amount of players they signed.
01:01:40I thought it would be difficult for them, and they've done better than I expected.
01:01:44And long may it continue, because it's a really good story.
01:01:48Mookie Ailey there, with obviously a fantastic goal for him.
01:01:51And obviously we've got to mention Wolves, who are still winless.
01:01:56Wasn't a good start to them last season either, but they've got...
01:01:58Same as what happened last season, they didn't win any in first eight last season.
01:02:02I think their next home game is Burnley.
01:02:05They have to win that.
01:02:06OK, up next, Brighton face Newcastle,
01:02:09with the Magpies never having won a Premier League game at the Amex.
01:02:13Steve Wilson was there.
01:02:13Nine points from seven games is a slightly underwhelming tally for both these clubs,
01:02:20who've come a long way since being promoted together in 2017.
01:02:25Fabian Ertzner makes one chase to Brighton XI, which salvaged the late point at Wolves.
01:02:30Gruder has a knock and is replaced by Ruter.
01:02:33Nick Voltemada scored his first goal for Germany in the international break,
01:02:37adding to a goal in each of his last three for Newcastle.
01:02:41No changes from the win over Forest.
01:02:43If this game were to finish goalless, then Newcastle would be the first club in 90 years to play out
01:02:50goalless draws in each of their first four away league games.
01:02:57Trippi, a little bit of room.
01:03:00Crosses a decent one, it was Joe Linton who attacked it.
01:03:03Tonali turns it back into Bruno Gimaraes, who did really well to find some space,
01:03:09and is not far away.
01:03:11That little step away from Dunk just gave him the room he needed to get the shot away.
01:03:17Eddie Howe used to be the fresh-faced, bright young thing of Premier League management.
01:03:24But Fabian Ertzler is 15 years younger.
01:03:33Oh, Joe Linton's given it away to Welbeck.
01:03:36Jorginho Ruter here for Brighton.
01:03:39It's a good effort and a good save.
01:03:43Well, Joe Linton will be mightily relieved.
01:03:47They thought they had Ruter penned in. He did very well to get the shot away on target.
01:03:52Good save by Pope.
01:03:532017 Newcastle went up to the Premier League as champions.
01:03:59Just one point ahead of Brighton, who went up as runners-up.
01:04:01In 17 meetings since, Newcastle have only won two.
01:04:05Ruter.
01:04:10Ruter through to Welbeck, and nipped in by Danny Welbeck.
01:04:15And that was so straightforward, so simple.
01:04:20Straight down the middle, and Brighton are in front.
01:04:25Ruter collected the pass, simply accelerated away from Tonali,
01:04:31threaded it through to Welbeck, who clipped it over Pope.
01:04:34Well, how did Newcastle allow them to stroll through so simply?
01:04:40It's beautifully taken by Welbeck.
01:04:43Brighton 1, Newcastle 0.
01:04:51Oh, he's done well, Belieber.
01:04:54Four in this Brighton attack.
01:04:56This is Ruter.
01:04:57Cadiolu put it into a great area, but luckily for Newcastle,
01:05:04there weren't any blue and white jerseys there, and Bottmann cleared.
01:05:06There are a few appeals here from Brighton.
01:05:08Banheka with a very strong challenge.
01:05:10De Kuyper, Cadiolu, De Kuyper, Pope managed to keep it away.
01:05:24They're hanging on here, Newcastle.
01:05:26That's a good save by Pope, well hit by De Kuyper.
01:05:32There were a few appeals here for Handball.
01:05:34Don't think you can go giving those.
01:05:36It could be a corner unless Dunk prevents it.
01:05:57Bruno Guimaraes was looking for the contact with Cadiolu,
01:06:00and then recovered. It's pushed away by Verbruggen.
01:06:04Newcastle appeal. Murphy has it, and Murphy's well off the mark.
01:06:11Well, Bruno Guimaraes, it seemed to me, was looking for the contact
01:06:15with Cadiolu.
01:06:17He's done well to get back on his feet, smashing it across goal.
01:06:20Pope pushed it out. Now, did it hit Vifa on the arm?
01:06:25You'd say it did.
01:06:26It does hit his hand, but deemed to be in a natural position,
01:06:32which seems reasonable enough to me.
01:06:43Murphy.
01:06:47Bruno Guimaraes, good ball.
01:06:48Louis Miley, Walter Mata, brilliant!
01:06:51Oh, that's brilliant!
01:06:52Scores all kinds of goals, this kid!
01:07:01This is a lovely goal.
01:07:06Brilliant.
01:07:09Impudent.
01:07:11And outstanding.
01:07:13Brighton won, Newcastle won.
01:07:16Nick Valtemada has made a huge impact on the Premier League.
01:07:20And here's Harvey Barnes.
01:07:24And now Murphy.
01:07:26And Bruno Guimaraes.
01:07:28And Walter Mata couldn't quite take it with him.
01:07:30Dan Byrne with the throw.
01:07:41Oh, that was very awkward for Verbruggen!
01:07:44And Bruno Guimaraes sees it fly over the top of the bar for a corner.
01:07:49Verbruggen was in a lot of bother.
01:07:53Bruno Guimaraes drove it and it hit Ayari on the thigh and flew over.
01:07:58Lewis Dunk.
01:08:04That's an IRE.
01:08:05Oh, that's a really good run.
01:08:06FIFA's been well found.
01:08:08Super challenged but well back!
01:08:09He hadn't scored at the Amex since February and he was about to be substituted.
01:08:21But he's got his second to this game and put Brighton back in front.
01:08:25All about the run of match FIFA really.
01:08:31It's a great challenge but it fell beautifully for Welbeck and he tucked it away with such aplomb.
01:08:39And his name rings around the Amex.
01:08:44We showed resilience, we showed character, we showed personality on the pitch and we stick to our
01:08:52principle, we stayed in our formation, we kept the structure quite well and then we get the reward.
01:08:58So I'm very pleased with the performance overall.
01:09:01We were disappointed with the first half performance really.
01:09:04A bright start and then we faded the last half an hour.
01:09:07That first half was hard to watch really.
01:09:10I don't think we were particularly good with the ball and we ended up in transition an awful lot.
01:09:14Brighton scored in that period.
01:09:16We were pleased to get in at 1-0 and then try and regroup.
01:09:18We were much better in the second half.
01:09:19We gave a much better account of ourselves.
01:09:21We looked like we could score.
01:09:22We were a goal threat and when we conceded the second goal, we were the dominant team.
01:09:27There's always that possibility, you've got to sniff it out that the ball could fall your way.
01:09:31So I was wondering, trying to see if it could fall nicely for me and it did and I stuck it away very nicely.
01:09:41The years you've been playing at this level, you just look like a guy who's really enjoying himself.
01:09:45Nah, I'm hating it. Nah, I love it.
01:09:50I've got the passion and love for football so when I'm out there on the pitch, it's what I want to do.
01:09:55I'm feeling good, feel fit, feel strong so it's not a time of stopping any time shortly.
01:10:02Did they deserve the win today, Brighton?
01:10:04Yeah, I thought Brighton were the better team.
01:10:07Newcastle I thought were too easy to play through at times and Brighton found that way of finding
01:10:13that extra man in front of the back four and Newcastle's midfield.
01:10:17And in fact, Newcastle covered less ground, six kilometres less ground than Brighton out of possession.
01:10:23And that tells you, we talk about whether it was Joe Linton or Bruno travelling back from playing Japan
01:10:29in South Korea or whatever or Tonali playing for Italy.
01:10:33But it was unusual for Newcastle.
01:10:35The first goals have conceded away from home.
01:10:37And this is what Brighton did really, really well.
01:10:40Getting in those positions there and the midfield just couldn't cope with that.
01:10:44That's a brilliant ball through and a very, very clever finish.
01:10:47And it happened a few occasions.
01:10:49There's the midfield.
01:10:50They just played around them.
01:10:51Look, Joe Linton comes in.
01:10:53It's not really a press.
01:10:55And the passing and the moving from Brighton again was excellent.
01:10:59I know they came into it a lot more in the second half, Newcastle.
01:11:02But they took Joe Linton off.
01:11:03They brought Lewis Miley onto the pitch.
01:11:06But still, they were finding those little bits of space just in between.
01:11:10There you go.
01:11:11Iari is there.
01:11:12And again, that pass is correct.
01:11:14And before Newcastle can react, they're too late and they should have been punished again.
01:11:18And this was the winning goal coming up.
01:11:21The movement's fantastic from Brighton.
01:11:23Look at Wifa there getting into that space, albeit he doesn't get that ball, doesn't come for him.
01:11:29But that is such a clever finish.
01:11:31It really, really is.
01:11:33And it has to, because Newcastle normally, in those positions, they're really strong.
01:11:38But today, they weren't.
01:11:40Look at that, Micah.
01:11:41He's ageing like a fine wine, isn't he, Danny Welbeck?
01:11:44He's on to score more goals in his 30s than he did in his 20s.
01:11:48He only needs five more to equal his 20s total.
01:11:51He's 34 years old.
01:11:52So, you know, it's feasible that he'll do that before he's 35.
01:11:55He's just a fantastic pro.
01:11:57I mean, he's had his knee injuries as well, but he plays in a system that suits him.
01:12:01And he said in his interview there, he loves football.
01:12:03I think he's got another three, four years in him.
01:12:06I don't think he's finishing any time soon because he's a number nine and there's not many
01:12:10number nines about there.
01:12:11And I'm just delighted for him.
01:12:13OK, it was a battle between two promoted sides at Turf Moor as Burnley took on Leeds United.
01:12:18Your commentator, Tom Gale.
01:12:21A six pointer, a must win or a must not lose.
01:12:25Take your pick.
01:12:26It's four defeats across their last five for Burnley.
01:12:29Zean Fleming comes in to make his first Premier League start, replacing the injured Lyle Foster.
01:12:35Leslie Ugachukwu and Jakob Brun Larsson also return to the 11.
01:12:39Daniel Farker's four game streak of naming the same lead starting line-up comes to an end.
01:12:44Jack Harrison replaces Noah Okafor, who's sidelined with a thigh problem.
01:12:49Substitute Dan James returned from injury five weeks ahead of schedule.
01:12:56January's Championship meeting between these two ended goalless with just a single shot on target.
01:13:02Surely no one here today wants a repeat of that.
01:13:05Stark has a lot of room.
01:13:11The away supporters wanted him to shoot.
01:13:13Aronson, acrobatic stuff from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
01:13:19Talk about trying to make something out of nothing.
01:13:22This would have been a spectacular finish.
01:13:25Today, Daniel Farker's side start a run where three of the next four games are away from home,
01:13:32taking them into the November international break.
01:13:37Miscommunication there amongst the Leeds back line.
01:13:40Needlessly conceding a throw.
01:13:44For the first time this afternoon, perhaps a chance to see the Kyle Walker long throw.
01:13:49It's a decent one, met by Strouk.
01:13:55Harrison trying to prevent the corner.
01:13:57Does so.
01:14:00Walker can go again.
01:14:03Pulls it short this time.
01:14:04Gets it back.
01:14:06That's a decent ball in!
01:14:07And it's met by the head of Lesley Ugachukwu.
01:14:15The Frenchman scores in back-to-back Premier League games.
01:14:21And gives his side the ideal springboard.
01:14:24In what is a high-stakes game.
01:14:29Parker's not phased.
01:14:31Just like they planned, hey?
01:14:33What a ball this is from Kyle Walker.
01:14:37He's just begging for someone to get on the end of it.
01:14:40We have to credit Ugachukwu.
01:14:42He does the rest.
01:14:44No chance for Darlow.
01:14:46Burnley one.
01:14:47Leeds United, nil.
01:14:52Culler.
01:14:52Burnley free kick.
01:15:00Anthony presents it straight to Harrison.
01:15:02It's opening up.
01:15:03Aronson!
01:15:05Off the post!
01:15:08Scott Parker would have been furious
01:15:10if that would have resulted in an equaliser for the visitors.
01:15:15What a golden opportunity this is for Brendan Aronson.
01:15:18But we have to credit Martin Dubravka proving his fine goalkeeping abilities and benefiting from the aid of a post.
01:15:26Bampardou.
01:15:30Longstaff.
01:15:32Patient build-up here from Leeds United.
01:15:34And was he caught there?
01:15:35He was!
01:15:37Anthony, the guilty party.
01:15:39It is.
01:15:44Anton Stack!
01:15:45And it's an excellent save.
01:15:50And he strikes it well.
01:15:52It's goalkeeper side, though, so Dubravka did have a good sight of it.
01:15:56Save still needed to be made.
01:15:57And it's goalkeeper side, though.
01:15:59And it's goalkeeper side, though, so Dubravka did have a good sight of it.
01:16:01And it's goalkeeper side, though.
01:16:02And it's goalkeeper side, though.
01:16:03And it's goalkeeper side.
01:16:04And it's goalkeeper side.
01:16:05And it's goalkeeper side.
01:16:06Longstaff.
01:16:08His cross.
01:16:10Harrison!
01:16:12Best moment of the second half for Leeds United so far.
01:16:16Well, that was a chance, and he knows it.
01:16:23Stroke.
01:16:26Walker read that.
01:16:28Will he get there first?
01:16:29He will.
01:16:3235, but still blistering pace.
01:16:38Checks back to find Cullen.
01:16:46Cullen, he has room.
01:16:48Cullen!
01:16:53Screamer from the Burnley substitutes.
01:16:57There didn't seem to be much on, so he thought, why not?
01:17:02What a way to score your first goal in Burnley colours.
01:17:07He's not closed down, but wow.
01:17:11Burnley double their advantage, courtesy of Scott Parker.
01:17:15Bringing a man on from the bench.
01:17:17Bloom Chauder makes it Burnley to Leeds United now.
01:17:27James checks back to Longstaff towards Calvert-Lewin.
01:17:32And Bogle!
01:17:36How has he not put that away?
01:17:40Calvert-Lewin's effort hangs in the air, and...
01:17:42Bogle kicks the advertising hoarding in frustration.
01:17:50James' delivery towards Calvert-Lewin and Perdue.
01:17:53Couldn't wrap his leg around it.
01:17:56Walker can't clear either.
01:18:01Chownet has stayed down.
01:18:03Goodmanson.
01:18:08It's cross, and I think Matcha got the final touch there.
01:18:14It's going to be a second win of the season for Scott Parker.
01:18:17And for the first time, Burnley have beaten Leeds United in the Premier League.
01:18:21Burnley two, Leeds United nil.
01:18:23I thought the performance was everything we planned to come here today, really.
01:18:28So, hugely competitive team, and we've probably experienced that last year.
01:18:32Certainly went toe-to-toe with Leeds for some time throughout that year.
01:18:37But overall today, first and foremost, come here to get a result, and we've managed to do that.
01:18:43Your first Burnley goal, and what a goal. Can you talk us through it, please?
01:18:50I'm very happy.
01:18:53I'm excited for it, and probably satisfied, because it's a long work.
01:19:00I work every day for this, with the team. It's a beautiful goal. I'm happy.
01:19:05You have to be clinical, especially as a newly promoted side. And yeah, each of your situation
01:19:10counts. So, to be self-critical, you have to say we didn't have this effectiveness level that
01:19:15like they had performance-wise. I can't complain about anything, but this is how football works.
01:19:20Well, when Daniel and the Leeds fans look at those stats,
01:19:22they will wonder how they came away from Turf Moor with nothing.
01:19:26Yeah, Leeds were excellent, apart from, you know, putting the ball in the back of the net.
01:19:29Absolutely dominated the game. But Burnley stayed in the game and took the chances
01:19:34when needed. Kyle Walker with the first one, a great, great cross into Ogochukwu.
01:19:39And then the second one, Chuana. What a strike this is. He finds a little space in there,
01:19:46and the turn, too much time, and he just absolutely belts it. I mean, the technique is just sublime,
01:19:54sort of cuts across it. The goalkeeper, no chance. I mean, what an amazing goal that was.
01:20:01And another promoted side that is really building on their home form.
01:20:04Yeah, but even if you look at the stats, that won't bother Burnley because it was something
01:20:08similar to like that in the championship last season. So they've just carried that on. But
01:20:11yeah, their home form is going to be key. Like it is for every Pernodal club that comes up.
01:20:16Yeah, and we mentioned a minute ago, didn't we? Of course, it's Wolves next away,
01:20:20you know, and that's a pivotal game for both. They're going to target games away, obviously.
01:20:24Yeah, but I think if you look at the bigger picture for Burnley, I think Scott and his staff will be
01:20:28reasonably happy with the start that they've made in the Premier League. They've shown to people,
01:20:34I think, they're going to be competitive, particularly at home.
01:20:37I think the good thing is, when Burnley was under Vincent Kompany, they tried to play a style of play.
01:20:43Obviously, they didn't work for the team, worked for Kompany. He's gone to Bayern Munich. But now,
01:20:47they've got a defensive style stuck to what they know, and it's working for them and home form.
01:20:52Yeah, and all three promoted teams are all out of the bottom three, so they'll all be very pleased
01:20:57with this start, actually. Yeah, sticking to their identity, working on their home form,
01:21:00and at the moment, it seems to be working for them. Well, let's have a look, shall we,
01:21:03as you're giving it away at the Premier League table. No surprises then. With Liverpool not in action
01:21:10until tomorrow, Arsenal extend their lead at the top to three points. But on the eight occasions,
01:21:16Arsenal have had at least 19 points at this stage. They've gone on to win the title only once.
01:21:21The combined tally of 29 points by Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley is 15 more than the three
01:21:26promoter sides managed this stage of the season last time. Wolves failed to win any of their
01:21:30opening eight games for the second season running. Well, as we found out today, it's going to take
01:21:37more than a shield to protect you if you're a Premier League manager, as Ange Postacoglu found out
01:21:41today, banished after 39 days and eight games. You two can sleep easy tonight. On your way. Good night.
01:21:51Bye.
01:22:03Bye.
01:22:05Bye.
01:22:07Bye.
01:22:09Bye.
01:22:11Bye.
01:22:13Bye.
