00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:30Welcome to Match of the Dead.
01:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
01:30We'll hope the momentum generated in the 5-4 defeat remains.
01:34Samuel Trukwase has earned just his second Premier League start after scoring a brace on Tuesday night.
01:40He has five goal involvements in seven appearances despite playing for just 229 minutes so far.
01:46His inclusion one of two changes with Timothy Castagne named in the XI for the first time in seven weeks.
01:52Brian Sessegnon is out with a hamstring injury.
01:56Crystal Palace have suffered a big loss to their back line.
01:59Daniel Munoz is unavailable due to a knee problem.
02:02So a rare outing for Nathaniel Klein who makes just his second appearance of the season
02:06while Eddie Nketiah reaches 50 games for Crystal Palace and starts his first league game of the campaign.
02:12Both out of contracts at the end of the season.
02:16A new contract for Christmas.
02:21A bit of a quirk of this fixture.
02:23Just one of the last 12 Premier League meetings have been won by the home side.
02:27Smith-Rowe.
02:34Corner kick, first of the game.
02:43The Wobie towards the near post.
02:46Mateto got a touch.
02:49Another chance for Fulham.
02:50The Wobie delivers low.
03:00Smith-Rowe.
03:02Whether that was intended or not,
03:04it turned into a brilliant chance for Emile Smith-Rowe.
03:08And it took a deflection away.
03:10It was checked very quickly for a handball.
03:14Fulham had conceded just three goals at home.
03:17That was until Tuesday night.
03:20Shipping five against Manchester City.
03:25Warton.
03:27Again, the Ranger passing from Warton.
03:30Sumptuous.
03:31Finds Mitchell.
03:33Gay in support.
03:36Warton.
03:37Nketiah!
03:41Fabulous goal!
03:42Nketiah marks his 50th Palace appearance.
03:51To say they make it look so simple.
03:54Warton outside of the boot, first of all.
03:58Mitchell biding his time, assessing his options.
04:00Again, Warton.
04:03Maybe that pass was intended for Kamada, but Nketiah, quick of thought, clear of mind, and a devastating finish.
04:12Simplicity at its best, and Palace are in front.
04:16As it stands, Crystal Palace will move into the top four of the Premier League.
04:24And when he was appointed in February 2024, they were 15th.
04:27A couple of trophies, European adventures, but his future's still very much up in the air.
04:37Berger.
04:40Oh, Smith-Rowe takes that beautifully!
04:42A brilliant save from Dean Henderson.
04:49Precision pass from Berger.
04:52And that touch from Smith-Rowe afforded him a lot more space to get the shot away.
05:04Klein picks up the loose ball.
05:08Klein felt he was caught there.
05:10Well, there was a check in the background there.
05:14Video assist the referee for a penalty.
05:18It was inside the box.
05:20It looked like Anderson did catch Nathaniel Klein.
05:22I think he can count himself slightly fortunate there, Joachim Anderson.
05:34Wilson.
05:36Chuck Waze.
05:40Oh, what a goal!
05:59That is absolutely sensational.
06:01Palace looks compact.
06:06No danger.
06:07But the slick one-two between Raul Jimenez.
06:13And then the finish from Wilson.
06:15It is perfection.
06:17And he's scored a few exceptional goals this season.
06:21Another one to add to the list.
06:23And he draws Fulham level.
06:24And this is Crystal Palace's 24th match of the season already in their fourth game of nine in 27 days.
06:35The success comes with a very busy schedule.
06:38Camado.
06:40Camado.
06:43Mateta!
06:47It was tracked all the way by Calvin Bassi.
06:50And Bassi was never going to allow him a clear attempt on goal.
06:54Smith-Rowe.
06:55Camado.
06:56Camado.
06:57Camado.
06:57Camado.
06:57Camado.
06:58Camado.
06:58Camado.
06:59Camado.
06:59Camado.
07:00Camado.
07:00Smith-Rowe.
07:01Delicate touch towards Raul Jimenez.
07:02Smith-Rowe takes it back over.
07:06Now Traquese.
07:09Cross in.
07:10Oh, off the post.
07:11And the follow-up is there.
07:13Emile Smith-Rowe.
07:15Now Smith-Rowe scored against City.
07:20And now he's got another back-to-back games.
07:23And it was the midfielder who drove Fulham forward.
07:27It won't be so unfortunate not to score with that header.
07:31Now this is being checked for a handball against Raul Jimenez.
07:36And it's also being checked for an offside.
07:39Chuck Wase.
07:40And it has been disallowed.
07:47Chuck Wase is offside.
07:50It's a real shame.
07:51It was another beautifully crafted Fulham goal.
07:58And Marco Silva, who does usually have an air of mild irritation,
08:02can't help but grimace to himself.
08:05Cristania pick off the mark to intercept.
08:18That's a lovely ball.
08:21Chuck Wase.
08:21Hey!
08:25Well, whether that was an attempt on goal or a cross,
08:29nearly had the desired effect.
08:31Pino lays it back for Wharton.
08:37Kamada allowed to turn.
08:40Mitchell.
08:43Delivers.
08:44Uche!
08:46The quick break was a dangerous delivery.
08:50And Uche, he's claiming a corner.
08:54And he's probably right, yeah.
08:55Just nicked off Calvin Bassi.
08:57Pino wriggles away from a lot of pressure.
09:03Kamada finds Mitchell.
09:06First time ball across!
09:08Uche can't put it away.
09:11Leno quick off his line.
09:13The excellent play once again from Palace.
09:15We've got to say Leno got this exactly right.
09:23Wharton delivers low.
09:24It's left.
09:25Pino!
09:25Very cleverly done by Crystal Palace.
09:37Pino delivers.
09:38Oh, it's there!
09:41Mark Gay!
09:42Receives the adulation that the celebrating Crystal Palace support.
09:53They came so close with the previous one.
09:58Gay into the middle.
10:01It is an unsavable header.
10:03Guiding it beyond Bert Leno.
10:06This is heady days to be a fan of Crystal Palace as they continue to hit new heights.
10:16Full-time at Craven Cottage.
10:19It's Spill and 1.
10:20It's Spill and 1.
10:20Crystal Palace 2.
10:22My feeling was the longer the game took, it was more likely that we win the game.
10:28We created the chances and then we decided to lose a set play.
10:31When you see our schedule really playing game after game and then striking back in the last ten minutes.
10:39This is really amazing to watch and credit to the players.
10:43Everyone is working hard, you know, not just in the games but on the training pitch.
10:46The players that play, the players that don't play and like Sean today when me and Kleine have come in,
10:50obviously we're ready to help the team and do what we need to do.
10:53So, I think we're in a good stead and we need to keep going like that.
10:55You should have done better in that last minutes of the game, the way you conceded.
10:59But of course, the way we had some good moments in the game.
11:02But football is about moments, good performance, about results too.
11:06And of course, we have to combine everything for us to take points,
11:11to get the points that we probably deserve but we are not getting and football is like that.
11:14It's about to be clinical, to be ruthless and to be resilient in all the moments.
11:18It's your 24th match of the season, it's a busy December, I mean, do you put much burden on that?
11:24Because you do have an extremely busy schedule.
11:26Honestly, it felt, we had a long break now, because we played always Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday.
11:33This was tight, I was just having two days in between and now we had three days in between.
11:37We gave the players two days off and then we met yesterday and it felt like we had holidays.
11:42How many days off now?
11:43The players asked for two but I said, no, we can't always have two days off, so we will meet tomorrow.
11:48We need recovery. The players like to be together, the players like to play together
11:53and this is what they showed in a very impressive way today.
11:56We'll get on to the impressive Palace in a moment.
11:58But Shea, seven defeats in ten now for Fulham and Marco Silva's frustration was coming through there, wasn't it?
12:03Because this equals the worst period that he's had as manager of Fulham.
12:07And there's just something that he feels is lacking because they're actually playing really well.
12:12Yeah, I think 63% position. They didn't play bad today and I actually really like Marco Silva as a manager.
12:17They've got real personality. I have no qualms or doubts that he'll get them.
12:20I think they're four points or rather above the relegation zone, burning away next.
12:24But I think Marco Silva and the players, some of the players. I love Harry Walson, of course.
12:28There's a number of players. Chuck Waze has come into the team in the last couple of games
12:31and there's some exciting players as well. It's just not getting a rub of the green.
12:34And you can see he was really angry as well.
12:36He conceded the winning goal from a set play, which most managers are.
12:39But I think they'll be totally fine.
12:41Let's talk Palace then, shall we, Thomas.
12:43And the man who really made them tick today, the always impressive, it seems at the moment, Adam Morton.
12:49Yeah, I think he's still a young player by the age of 21.
12:51You don't quite know in this day and age.
12:53But the way he moves around the pitch, he looks so calm and he hasn't even played 50 Premier League games yet.
12:58And that's why I'm so impressed with him.
13:00Because, you know, we see him.
13:02Sometimes I think he just jogs around.
13:04He doesn't get a sweat on because he knows his position where he needs to be,
13:08that nobody can get the ball off him.
13:10And the players, of course, look for him because he has this ability to open the play up
13:14and look at this ball outside the left foot.
13:17It doesn't get any better.
13:18I mean, I've tried so many times, but it doesn't never come off.
13:21And not just that.
13:22He plays it wide with the outside of his left.
13:24He's still there.
13:25And as I just said, his teammates, they keep looking for him.
13:27And he looked for Kamada in this particular case.
13:30But then Ketya picked up the ball.
13:32And as I said, you know, being so central, being still so inexperienced and yet having such an effect on this team is really impressive.
13:40I mean, it has to be said Smith-Rowe doesn't pick him up.
13:43And yet Adam Wharton knows exactly where he needs to go.
13:46He had his eyes on Kamada, as I said before.
13:48And yet, you know, this is the accuracy of the pass, the pace of it.
13:52This is what happens.
13:53And eventually the ball ends up in the goal.
13:55And here we see as well the ability, as I said before, not to just pass it, but win the ball back.
14:00And this is a modern number six that passes the ball, but also wins it back.
14:04And most of his balls reach his teammates.
14:06I think he's got an accuracy of 95%.
14:08You'd say he belongs to some of the best passers in the league.
14:12But also this pass, I think, is absolutely incredible.
14:15He takes out two players.
14:16He knows exactly where everybody is.
14:18His orientation around the pitch is constantly, it's on.
14:21You know, he turns his head around.
14:23He knows where he is.
14:24He knows where his teammates are.
14:25Absolutely impressive.
14:27And there you go.
14:28Keep showing for the ball in a pace that I think is comfortable that you can keep or maintain for 90 minutes.
14:33And that's why, in the end, you have a player not only can pass the ball,
14:37but also take three kicks in corners.
14:39And this is, I think Shea said, this is almost an assist to an assist
14:42because this resulted to the goal, the 2-1 that Marc Gay scored.
14:46And there you go.
14:47Crystal Palace, the best start of the season in their Premier League history.
14:50I know what you're saying about the ease.
14:52It's almost a nonchalance, isn't it?
14:54Nothing looks like it's that much effort for him.
14:58He moves so easily.
14:59It's Matt Thomas because it strikes me as a player you don't have to overly coach.
15:02He understands the position.
15:03He sometimes stands still and the game runs around him.
15:06And he knows the pass before it even comes to him.
15:08A lot of that stuff's really strong.
15:09Look at the stats from today.
15:11Absolutely phenomenal.
15:12He knows what he's going to do with the ball before it arrives.
15:14And that's because his brain's working a step ahead of the players around him.
15:17He's scanning always, as Thomas rightly says.
15:19And that pass, and the players on the pitch, they understand it's a pass forward as well.
15:23And the way to pass is perfect.
15:25And stats like that and a performance like that will surely only solidify his presence in Thomas Tuchel's squad.
15:30That'll be interesting because for me he's one of the most gifted midfielders in the Premier League.
15:34Does he get into the team for the World Cup?
15:37He's definitely on the plane in my opinion.
15:38But does he start?
15:39Well, he's been there.
15:40The last two games he was involved.
15:42Of course he'll be in the mix.
15:44Will he start?
15:45Not quite sure.
15:46It's still a long season for him to go.
15:47But he's definitely one of those players Thomas Tuchel will look at.
15:49Let's have a look at Crystal Palace's defence this season, which has been very, very impressive.
15:54Second only to Arsenal.
15:55And actually in terms of goals conceded from open play, only six, which is just one ahead of Arsenal.
16:02So it takes something really special to reach that defence and we saw something very special.
16:07Yeah, this was a special goal and I'm glad we've shown it because normally when a team loses we don't get a chance to show the goal.
16:12But this goal, I think if someone like a Man City or one of the top teams scores this goal, you know, you're talking about, look at that.
16:18We've put a little bit of a pass somewhere down in the bottom right hand corner, but nearly every sort of member of the team, Fulham, gets a touch, gets a pass.
16:24But, you know, you talk about Marco Silva.
16:26Is he under pressure?
16:27You know, for a fact, this is what he does in training.
16:29You know, waves of attack.
16:30You know, players are doing the fundamentals, right?
16:32Keep an eye on Harry Wilson at the bottom of the picture.
16:34He is a top, top player.
16:35I do believe in that.
16:36But again, look, there's passing.
16:37They're moving.
16:38And you ask Crystal Palace, can they do better here?
16:40Can we defend?
16:41I don't think they've done a lot wrong, if I'm being brutally honest.
16:43Again, Wilson's showing for it.
16:44It's just really patient in the build-up.
16:46And this last bit, when it just comes around the box, they come alive.
16:49Brilliant touch on the outside of Harry's left foot.
16:51And again, this finish just sort of speaks volume for itself.
16:55But again, if you're looking at the Palace point of view,
16:56Clasin will be looking at that and thinking, what could we have done to stop this?
16:59And I don't think they could have done very much.
17:00I really don't.
17:01I think it's just a brilliant touch around the corner from Harry.
17:03And this finish, I mean, you could watch this to the cows come home.
17:06This is just a phenomenal finish with the outside of the foot.
17:08And, you know, he's a player really in form, Harry Wilson.
17:11I was at Derby us as a young player.
17:13And I just love to see how his career's, you know, moved on in the Premier League.
17:17I think he scored a happy recent for his country as well.
17:19He's really on top of his game.
17:21Six goals and seven for club and country now for Harry Wilson.
17:24As for Crystal Palace, that's three away wins on the road, on the bounce for them.
17:29And the best start to a Premier League season ever after 15 games.
17:33They're in the top four.
17:34Oliver Glasner, though, still last week, obviously against Manchester United.
17:38In the post-match comments there, he was saying he wasn't quite happy with how he'd strengthened his squad.
17:43He hasn't signed a deal which will keep him on beyond this season.
17:46You know him.
17:47I do.
17:48I tried to sign him many years ago when I was at Stuttgart.
17:51And I had a conversation with him.
17:52And I was impressed back then.
17:54Unfortunately, he didn't join us.
17:55But ever since I followed his career, I'm so impressed because he usually outperforms the budget.
18:01And look at Palace.
18:02You know, when he came in, soon after, Mike Lolise left.
18:05And they kept on getting better.
18:06Ebrecht Eze left at the end of last season, beginning of this season.
18:10And yet, they have the best start to their season.
18:12This is so impressive.
18:13And I know he's in a strong position.
18:15He said to the owner, Marquet needs to stay.
18:18I need to keep this player.
18:19Otherwise, probably I'm gone.
18:20So, he's very powerful at Palace.
18:22But everybody knows there, he got them into a position where they've never been before.
18:27They've won the FA Cup.
18:28So, if you're a Crystal Palace fan right now, you've got so much to cheer on from.
18:31You break the bag to keep him.
18:32Well, they probably should do.
18:34But I'm not quite sure with his contract running out, he might aim for an even bigger club.
18:39Or his ambition, yeah.
18:40Okay, thank you.
18:41Well, Brighton against West Ham is on the way after November's goal of the month.
18:46Sunderland back in, Sadiqe to win it back.
19:05He's in a heat, but Njai is racing forward.
19:08Great feet from Njai, looking for the opening.
19:10And that is the opening goal from Illermann Njai.
19:13Njai picked up the ball and skipped through the Sunderland challenges.
19:18And a great finish.
19:19Rufus didn't move.
19:20Rufus didn't move.
19:27Trossard.
19:33Oh, space opens up for Trossard now.
19:35Oh, that is fantastic.
19:37What a goal by Leandro Trossard.
19:41It has got to be a perfect shot to get past Robin Roos from that range.
19:46It is perfect.
19:48It got to the right of Petrovic in that Bournemouth goal, which Buendia finds!
20:00The Emmy Buendia revival continues.
20:14Here's Doku, full of energy.
20:17Oh, it's magnificent!
20:21Three for City.
20:24Simple pass back to Jeremy Doku, who gets a hold of that so, so sweetly.
20:30Quang, Wharton, Pinot!
20:41Oh, he deserves that!
20:46What a peach of a goal from Jeremy Pinot!
20:49Morgan Rodgers, who's already scored this afternoon.
21:01Does so again.
21:02And Aston Villa are in front.
21:05Morgan Rodgers making it look so very easy.
21:09He's now just guided it beautifully over the wall.
21:12Great challenge out, Polina Richarlison looking to lob David Raya.
21:21And he has!
21:24A piece of impudence and brilliance from Richarlison.
21:28Wonderfully done.
21:35Oh no.
21:36A gifted form of possession.
21:39Adams goes for goal.
21:40He's spotted Bruce off his line!
21:44What a sensational goal that is from the American.
21:48He doesn't score many.
21:51Take a bow.
21:53Tyler Adams.
22:01Ball by Tarkovsky.
22:03Dewsbury Hall.
22:04He's taken goal.
22:07That's a goal of the highest quality.
22:10Look at that first touch.
22:12And a very cool one into the back of the net as well.
22:19McGinn.
22:21Cameron.
22:22Being urged to shoot!
22:23And he's done so!
22:25Too dramatic effect!
22:28And look at the space that he has on the edge of the penalty area.
22:31Time to control and time to finish in emphatic style.
22:36So pick your favourite.

23:20To the south coast next where Brighton have lost just one of their 16 Premier League meetings with West Ham who dropped into the relegation zone in midweek.
23:30Your commentator is Chris Wise.
23:33The form of Leeds United in the past week has increased the pressure again on the Hammers.
23:39That's despite the gutsy draw West Ham collected at Old Trafford on Thursday.
23:42Only a win here will make a Sunday escape from the bottom three possible for Nuno's men.
23:49Brighton's leading scorer Danny Welbeck back in the starting 11 having been rested for the chaotic home defeat to Aston Villa.
23:56And Jorginho Ruter available to Fabian Herzler again having been forced to sit out that 4-3 loss.
24:02With less than 72 hours since their last game West Ham changes were inevitable.
24:07There are four from Nuno Espirito Santo including a first league start since the opening weekend for Guido Rodriguez.
24:14Lucas Pacataz back from suspension.
24:17Crescensio Somerville returns after injury.
24:19And Max Killman comes into a reshaped Hammers back three.
24:29Lewis Dunk and Paul Van Hecker.
24:31It's patient from Brighton and then in it goes and it was missed by Veefer.
24:41Who looked like he'd arrived on the scene with impeccable timing.
24:45But he didn't get a touch on it at all the Brighton right back.
24:48Now for Panos.
24:55Juan Bissaka, there's nobody in the box at the moment but those in Claret and Blue are coming and Pacitar's going to take aim from distance and Verbruggen needed to get there.
25:05Now Bowen.
25:06Dunk has time and Brighton will clear.
25:13Yeah, that bounce right in front of Verbruggen who had good vision of it from the moment it left the foot of Pacitar.
25:22Well, the last time Nuno Espirito Santo faced Brighton in a Premier League game, his Nottingham Forest team beat them 7-0.
25:28And then he came here a few weeks after that in March of last season and won an FA Cup quarter-final as well.
25:33He's not the most welcome face around here.
25:37Pacitar got a little poke on it and then Somerville's away from Dunk.
25:41Somerville, he didn't get the angle right.
25:43That is a waste for West Ham and I think Crescensio Somerville will be the first to say it.
25:49It's scruffy from Brighton from most of those in their defensive line.
25:53You can see what Somerville was trying to do. He wanted to whip it beyond Verbruggen.
26:00There he is, the Houston-born German, Fabian Herzler.
26:03Houston, one of the World Cup host cities next year.
26:06And who should be there first up on the 14th of June?
26:10Germany for a game against Curaçao.
26:14That will feel to Fabian Herzler like it was written in the stars.
26:16Carioli with Fernandes doing all he can to stay with him.
26:23De Kuiper.
26:25Ruter, that might have been heading into the corner.
26:28Do you certainly think so?
26:29He's celebrating the block like it was a goal.
26:32It was nearly a Brighton goal.
26:34And this was swift and nifty from Brighton.
26:40De Kuiper with a lovely flight on the delivery towards Ruter.
26:44Was it destined for the bottom corner?
26:47Difficult to say.
26:48A few shouts around me from Brighton supporters for their team to sharpen up a bit here.
27:02Well won by Paketar.
27:04Bowen away from Dunk, not once but twice.
27:07Oh, Jared Bowen still going.
27:09Bowen shoots, Verbruggen save.
27:11Somerville!
27:12And that's a super stop for Bruggen.
27:14The first one was good, the second one was excellent.
27:19Well the hunger from Lukas Paketar initially to win the ball.
27:23And then Jared Bowen with some magical feet and some great physicality tiptoed his way through half of Brighton's back line.
27:32And Verbruggen did so well to a get to that initial shot because it came off Caddy Olu.
27:39But then to get back to his feet and deny Somerville top work from the Dutchman in Brighton's goal.
27:48Well Brighton substitutes do tend to make a difference.
27:53They've scored the most goals and got the most assists in the Premier League this season from players coming off the bench.
27:59Is it going to happen today? Hinshelwoods, Gomez, Welbeck.
28:04Upfield by Kilman and misplaced by Van Hecker and suddenly it's the West Ham substitute Wilson who's onto it.
28:13Callum Wilson looking for Bowen who reached it and he scores as well.
28:18What a precious goal from West Ham's captain.
28:23Didn't really have a right to get there Jared Bowen.
28:28But he always backs himself.
28:30And it all came about through a long ball forward from Kilman which was completely misjudged by Van Hecker.
28:38Callum Wilson trying to slip Bowen in.
28:41Caddy Olu should have been favourite in that situation.
28:45And he didn't commit and Bowen fancied it and that was the difference.
28:48And after two months without a Premier League goal, Jared Bowen has one again for West Ham United.
28:56And what a massive one it might be.
28:58As it stands, West Ham coming out of the Premier League's bottom three.
29:02Has been a growing sense in this game that this story was possible for West Ham.
29:09Hang on, just missed it.
29:10Suddenly it might be 1-1.
29:11Areola got fingertips to it.
29:13He got it onto the bar and Brighton can't capitalise.
29:17Well, that's a stroke of luck.
29:20They nearly immediately relinquished the fine position they got themselves into.
29:25And Areola with a really important touch onto the bar.
29:28Ten of Brighton's Premier League goals this season in the Premier League have come beyond the 75th minute.
29:37Costoulas.
29:41Can the teenager make it happen?
29:43Costoulas, he nearly did.
29:48That would have been a glorious moment for the 18-year-old.
29:52Brighton not hanging around.
29:54Here he is again, Costoulas.
29:55Same position.
29:59Boscagli.
30:02All hands to the pump for West Ham United to get these three points that will mean so much.
30:08Back in by Hinshelwood.
30:10And the chance for Ruter.
30:12The save from Areola.
30:14There he is again, and now he scores!
30:17Jorginho Ruter for Brighton.
30:20And West Ham could resist no more.
30:25Closing Claret and Blue hoping for a reprieve.
30:29They were beginning to knock at the door pretty loudly, Brighton.
30:32That initial chance for Ruter.
30:35And then Van Hecker gave it back to him.
30:37And somehow he squeezes it through the legs of Areola.
30:43West Ham were wondering whether Costoulas would be penalised for a high boot.
30:48Or Mavropanos.
30:56But VAR wants to have a look at whether the ball has come off Ruter's body and onto his arm there.
31:03But they're happy that it has not hit the hand.
31:09A sigh of relief from Jorginho Ruter.
31:13And indeed from Fabian Herzler and the rest.
31:17West Ham's latest chance for a clean sheet has gone.
31:21Maybe the chance for a rare away three points has gone too.
31:25Freddie Potts with the hunger.
31:34Wan-Bissaka beautifully weighted.
31:37Bowen with the chance.
31:39And from nowhere, a West Ham corner.
31:42All that Brighton pressure.
31:44And it might yet be the Hammers with the last chance of the game.
31:48In it comes, the header from Mavropanos is wide.
31:51Oh, what a chance.
31:52Missing by a whisker.
31:56And indeed, it is the last chance of what was a frantic finale at the Amex Stadium.
32:03Started slowly, but it got going in the end.
32:06Brighton won.
32:07West Ham won.
32:09We wanted more, definitely.
32:12But in the end, we didn't deserve more because we didn't play with energy,
32:18with intensity in the first half.
32:21And therefore, we have to be honest and that it wasn't our best performance today.
32:26It feels like a defeat, ultimately.
32:28You know, it's a point on the board.
32:30But the situation that we're in, the position that we were in,
32:33I thought we'd done enough to win the game.
32:35What did you make of the goal?
32:37Because I know there was a bit of delay while VAR were assessing whether there was a handball by Ruter.
32:41Maybe a high foot as well?
32:43High foot, handball.
32:44I think it's clear.
32:47You feel like either of those two could have been penalised?
32:50VAR, check it.
32:51I saw it also.
32:53It's different opinions.
32:54What can we do?
32:55I don't understand why they give the goal, honestly.
32:59Honestly.
33:01I saw it and I don't understand.
33:04I don't understand, honestly.
33:06We'll get into that in a few moments' time.
33:08It was a match that really struggled to make it as second place on a two-game match of the day.
33:14It wasn't a classic, was it, Shane?
33:16No, the first half was really bad, actually really pure.
33:18But it did pick up second half and thankfully we got a couple of goals.
33:21It did.
33:22The last 20 or 30 minutes gave us something to talk about.
33:25And we'll start talking about the way West Ham have set themselves up.
33:28They're quite happy to play without the ball.
33:29I think so.
33:30The position they're in now in the bottom three, it's about finding stability again, defending as a team and of course use your moments when you break away.
33:37And I think today the front three with Paqueta, Somerville and Bowen, they worked very hard as a team, as a small team within the team.
33:44And that's what they needed.
33:45But of course the bases was always defending.
33:48Of course this is when they have the possession, but Paqueta is such a good player.
33:51When he gets it, he immediately knows where to put the ball.
33:55And this creates a very good chance for Somerville, even though Paqueta is a bit lucky there.
33:58And this set the tone because as we said, you know, it wasn't about having possession and exciting your own fans.
34:04It's about winning this game, coming away with three points.
34:07And every time these moments came along, they were very, very quick.
34:10The front three again, you know, they fancied their chances.
34:13And of course it created a big gap between the front three and the rest of the team.
34:17But it was just about finishing it off.
34:19And that's what they did.
34:20Here you see the entire team in the box, you know, everybody's working for each other and they might get another opportunity.
34:26It's a long way from your own goal to the opposite goal, but they managed it.
34:29That's what you see.
34:30Paqueta wins the header and it all goes in one direction.
34:33Bowen on the left, he goes all the way.
34:35And it's a sprint.
34:36That's what you need to do because these are the only opportunities.
34:38And they end up in front of goal.
34:40Somerville in the end doesn't score because it's good defending.
34:44But it's for Brighton who were comfortable in possession.
34:47They always, you know, need to be aware because Paqueta now, you see, he also defends.
34:51He works for the team.
34:52And what happens is Bowen goes all the way.
34:54And again, the front three players end up in the box and get a very, very good opportunity.
34:59But, of course, Shea, as you would agree, for Bruggen with two amazing saves.
35:02Yeah.
35:03Yeah, brilliant.
35:04And this is where we come to the goal.
35:07Again, you see it's quite solid in the middle.
35:09Very, very good defensively.
35:10And Wilson, who just came on, fancy his chances.
35:13He's the sort of player that made the difference.
35:15Van Hecke, of course, without mistakes.
35:17But that's what you need.
35:18You need a little bit of luck and you need to anticipate.
35:20And that's where you see Bowen.
35:21I thought he would go more to the right.
35:23But then he knows himself.
35:24He needs to score with his right.
35:25But he's stronger with the left one.
35:26And it wasn't an easy one.
35:27He put it away.
35:28And this one to finish off with again.
35:31Wilson on the counter attack.
35:32It starts with everyone more or less behind the ball in their own box.
35:36And they get the ball again.
35:37And here's on the break.
35:39Wilson, full sprint.
35:40Keeps going.
35:41And those were the chances.
35:43This could have been 2-0.
35:44Buried the game.
35:45Unfortunately for West Ham they didn't.
35:47And as we saw, Brighton, they came back.
35:49But it is about the mindset.
35:50You know, you have to defend.
35:51You have to suffer as a team.
35:52And you have to rely on your front players
35:54to go all the way to sprint and work hard.
35:56So they've got their game plan.
35:57On 83 minutes, Nuno makes three substitutions.
36:00At this point, they're 1-0 up.
36:02And obviously, it doesn't have the desired effect and impact
36:05that he would want from those substitutions.
36:08Would that explain a bit of his frustration?
36:10No, I don't know.
36:11I feel for Nuno a bit because I think the goal is controversial.
36:13But I do feel he's bringing three fresh sets of legs.
36:15A lot of height as well.
36:16So he's going to sort of defend the box.
36:17You're away from home in the Premier League.
36:19So I wouldn't be too, you know, hard on Nuno for the substitutions.
36:23But I do feel his frustrations.
36:24We'll look at the goal.
36:25I think the goal was harsh, I felt.
36:27You know, Simon Hooper.
36:28I think there's a high foot in the game.
36:29I know that we're going to talk about the handball in a bit as well.
36:32But if you just show the goal itself that they conceded,
36:34I think it's, I don't know.
36:36It's frustrating, isn't it?
36:37Because this comes from a corner originally, Gabby.
36:39And then it comes in.
36:40And the high foot here, we've got Mavropanis and Costoulas.
36:44And you see the height is up here, right?
36:46So Mavropanis is six foot four.
36:48He jumps off the ground.
36:49I know there's a handball when it comes to Reuter as well.
36:50And we'll talk about that in a minute.
36:51Ariello makes a great save.
36:52Van Hecke keeps it alive.
36:53And they put the ball in the back of the net.
36:55But I want to sort of concentrate on this first part.
36:57Simon Hooper, you can see through the gap.
36:59Referee's got a clear view.
37:00Look, he's off the ground, centre half as well.
37:02He's up off the ground.
37:03If that's not in danger of an opponent, Gabby, I don't know what is.
37:05It's so high.
37:06And again, his head goes back.
37:07You see his head rocks back.
37:08Because I think it might hit his shin.
37:10And I think that should be given for a foul for West Ham.
37:13And so you feel for Nuno.
37:14He's angry after the game.
37:15See, you know, that's clearly hitting him in the head.
37:17And I know Mavropanis doesn't go down.
37:19I know he doesn't look for it.
37:20And then we say, one week,
37:21oh, players don't make the job for the referee easy by diving around, rolling about.
37:25He, he's honest, stays on his feet and doesn't get a foul.
37:28So I do really feel for West Ham.
37:30Away from home again.
37:31They're struggling at the bottom of the league.
37:32And you hear Bowen as well.
37:33He says, it feels like a defeat.
37:34Here's the handball.
37:35Now it hits his leg and then hits his arm.
37:37And the mad thing about the rule is, if that goes in, I think it gets disallowed on that
37:41first one.
37:42You know, Van Hecke keeps it alive.
37:43Comes back to Ruder and he scores.
37:45So that part of the handball side, I think, for me is okay.
37:48It's just a high foot I don't agree with.
37:50Yeah, so you're absolutely right.
37:51Had it gone in and it obviously rebounded off the goalkeeper and then went in later, it
37:56stood.
37:57Because if we have a look at the actual law pertaining to this, it's an offence if a player
38:01scores in the opponent's goal immediately after the ball has touched their hand or arm,
38:06even if it's accidental.
38:07And the mitigating factor is it wasn't immediate.
38:09So we can clear that up and say whether you like it or not, the correct decision was reached
38:13on that.
38:14But from what we understand, they didn't look at the high kick.
38:18And as the referee was there in front of it and could clearly see it.
38:21I don't get it because obviously the rule, you've just read it, you know, it makes sense.
38:24You may not like it, but it makes sense.
38:26It's understandable.
38:27But with a high foot, you know, Simon Hooper, the referee, he was in a good position.
38:30He could see it.
38:31And it seems to me that he's relying too much on the VAR because, you know, you don't have
38:35to knock his head off in order to give a foul.
38:37It was dangerous play and that's why I think a foul should have been given.
38:41I completely understand the frustration from the West Ham side.
38:44But why the referee never looked into it, that will be his secret because this for me is
38:50dangerous play.
38:51And fair play to Mavropanos and you just said it, you know, normally you see players rolling
38:55on the floor complaining.
38:56But if that's what it takes to get a foul, then the game changes again.
39:00And this is not what fans want to see.
39:01They want to see honest play, but at the same time, they want these fouls to be given.
39:05At least that's how I see it.
39:06Yeah.
39:07And of course, they have got a habit, haven't they, of coming into games and scoring late.
39:11They are top of the charts joint with Liverpool when it comes to scoring in the last 15 minutes.
39:15And of course, Doulas, who was actually involved in that incident, was a substitution,
39:18who really did have an impact, didn't he?
39:19Yeah, he was a bright spark off the bench.
39:21He really was, Gabby.
39:22And I suppose you've got to give Brighton credit as well.
39:24That's, you know, that stat shows that they keep, they keep going to the end.
39:26They keep, you know, pushing teams back.
39:28And of course, just West Ham will be frustrated.
39:30But Brighton will be, I suppose, happy in the end to get a point from there.
39:32OK, we're going to talk Mo Salah and reveal the result of Goal of the Month shortly
39:37after all of yesterday's goals.
39:39And Torres cross, and Kasha around the back, scores!
39:49It's Pukai Osaka, Kotso with a touch, and Trosso with a goal.
39:54Buendia!
39:56Absolute bedlam at Villapark!
40:01Full pass comes here to Diaz, he's slammed out there, what a goal!
40:06And it comes towards...
40:10Oh no!
40:11It's a brilliant run in there, and a powerful header to give in the second.
40:15Cherki Wai.
40:16Lovely, beautiful, what a goal!
40:19Bill Foden, extraordinary!
40:21Luconin, he knows he's going, he's already walking.
40:26Oh, lovely pass, Eva Nielsen, poor touch!
40:31Semenya still there!
40:33The goal is not going to stand.
40:36Eva Nielsen was in an offside position.
40:40Simons, behind Van den Berg, Richarlison in the middle,
40:44it's Richarlison, it's 1-0 Tottenham!
40:46Simons, the heavy touch.
40:51He's done really well to win it back.
40:55Sammy Simons, who set on the opener, could be in for a goal himself.
40:58Yes he is!
41:00He's nice for Tottenham!
41:06Dewsbury Hall has scored!
41:09It did take a deflection on its way into the back of the net.
41:13Late first half chance for Everton and Jai, for Barry!
41:18Yes!
41:19Finally for Thierno Barry!
41:22Teed up by O'Brien, and then fired back in!
41:25Quite brilliantly, Dewsbury Hall.
41:28That'll do for Everton very nicely.
41:32Guimaraes, difficult one, which he's got all the way in!
41:37Gordon, Nalanga's made the run, and he's found, what a pass!
41:41Vaccinity court!
41:43And it is a record!
41:46I'd be very surprised if this does not result in a spot kick.
41:50Gordon, to make it two!
41:54I'm pretty sure this is going to be a penalty.
41:57There is clear movement towards the ball.
41:59High school composure from Zean Fleming.
42:06And Eketike's onto the ball, what a chance this is!
42:10And he's taken it!
42:12Liverpool in front!
42:13Liverpool still possession back very quickly again with Bradley!
42:19And Eketike's there, and he's put that one in as well!
42:23He has to score this.
42:25And Calvin, though it does!
42:28Aronson in now to Stac.
42:30Stac in on goal!
42:33Here's Gravenberg.
42:35Played through and allowed to run through to Sabosli!
42:38Oh, that's coolly done!
42:39When it comes from Stac, Alisson stays back, and it's Tanaka!
42:50Leeds have done it again!
42:53Well, the astonishing news of the weekend really was in the post-match aftermath of that Leeds-Liverpool game with Mo Salah's comments about feeling like he was thrown under the bus and revealing that he had no relationship or he didn't have any communication with the manager.
43:08What did you make of all of that?
43:09Yeah, I felt for Mo Salah a little bit.
43:11I mean, he's not started the last three games, and when someone puts a camera or a microphone in your face after the game, when you come off away from the stadium and they've not won again, it's a frustrating time for a sub to not play.
43:22Especially a sub of Mo Salah's calibre.
43:24You know, he'll go down as one of the great players of all time at Liverpool Football Club.
43:28So the surprising thing that jumped off the page for me, how come Arnes Lodge took him into the office and had a sort of sit-down conversation with Mo Salah?
43:35You know, he scored over 400 games for Liverpool, scored 250 goals.
43:40This guy, you know, PFA Player of the Year a couple of months ago.
43:43This guy's a phenomenal player, not just for Liverpool, but for the Premier League.
43:47So I'm really surprised. I know Mo's probably angry, and Nicole later today maybe shouldn't have said some of this stuff, Gabby, but we've been there ourselves.
43:52You don't play, you're angry, you're frustrated. And again, the team's struggling.
43:55And again, maybe it's because Liverpool have options in the forward areas that Mo's been rotated or not started, because it feels like the balance, you know, the midfield are making mistakes this year.
44:04The defenders are making mistakes at the back. But Mo Salah, he said himself, feels like he's a bit of the scapegoat.
44:09I know what Shea's saying about thrusting a microphone, but this is a player who doesn't speak very often.
44:13So this was calculated. He knew what he was going to say would have a huge impact.
44:18And that now will be the story as they head to Milan to play Inter on Tuesday.
44:22I think it was a little bit calculated, but more his emotion. And I think, you know, a lot of damage has been done.
44:27I think he was wrong in what he was doing. And yet they should sit down and listen to each other because it's not over yet.
44:33They all have to, you know, get together, whether it's the sporting director, the ownership group, definitely Mo Salah and Arnest Lott and say damage has been done, but we can get this right.
44:42And it's about the club. It's about the individual as well. And sort it out.
44:45I think Mo Salah didn't seem to have people he trusted enough to discuss this and say, I'm frustrated what to do, because I'm sure people would have told him, you know, keep it to yourself, speak to people, but don't go public because it's damage for everybody involved.
44:58And it's been done. But I still think there is time to get it right. But I have to do it quickly.
45:03And next week, because of course, Brighton is his last game before he goes off and plays in AFCON.
45:07Do you agree with a great player, someone who's done so much for Liverpool Football Club, he's won seven major trophies, that the manager couldn't have said, Mo, come into my office, let's have a sit down.
45:16This is what I think is going to happen. Just relax for a couple of weeks. You'll be back on the team next week at Brighton, for example.
45:21But he's really angry. He's cross, of course, and frustrated that he's not playing. And of course, results aren't going as well.
45:27So, you know, he loves Liverpool through and through. So it's a tough time for him.
45:31But I think a tough time for Liverpool and Arna Slott as well.
45:34Well, I've got you here, Thomas. So we need to talk about Aston Villa.
45:36Please.
45:37Of course, Shay, we mustn't forget your time at Aston Villa as well.
45:40Thomas was better than my dad.
45:43They're now in a very good position in terms of the chasing pack, aren't they?
45:48In a week, it feels like things have turned around. Have they replaced Chelsea as the third team, if you like, in this title race?
45:53Maybe. But, you know, you listen to some of the Villa fans, they look into the top, you know, they probably think they can overtake Man City and Arsenal.
45:59And that's the mood around Villa Park right now, which is so great to see.
46:02But, you know, this is the emotion. But overall, you have to look at the numbers as well, because sometimes I know the management, they look into this.
46:10Maybe they are a little bit overperforming when they see these stats and unexpected goals in particular, a stat that, you know, has been often been used.
46:19There's nothing wrong in overperforming. But I think over a long course of time, it's a big challenge to keep those numbers, to keep the scores, because most of their wins, they have been with one goal difference.
46:30And those little margins, I think it's quite hard to maintain. But again, it's about the emotion, making the people happy there. And I really, really hope they climb up the table.
46:39Would you know Emery be able to set them up in any other way or play in any other way with this team, do you think?
46:43I don't know why he should, because the style of play is also part of the entertainment, why people love going to Villa Park.
46:49You know, there's this high risk, high reward attitude. And this is why we go to football matches.
46:54We want to be entertained and Villa fans have been entertained since Emery's there.
46:58I mean, Villa Park is rocking, isn't it? Absolutely.
47:00Even more when Che was there.
47:02Thank you very much, guys. Here's how the Premier League table looks tonight.
47:08Crystal Palace are in the top four after 15 matches for the first time in the Premier League era.
47:14Brighton avoid back-to-back home defeats to move above Sunderland and Liverpool.
47:18West Ham miss out on the chance to climb out of the bottom three following Brighton's late equaliser.
47:23And Fulham have lost seven of their last ten Premier League games now.
47:27OK, it's time. We're going to reveal the results of November's goal of the month.
47:38In third place with 13% of the vote, Kiernan Dewsbury Hall for that fantastic goal against Newcastle.
47:51In defeat, it should be said, because there's a theme here.
47:53In second place, Richarlison, 18% in that North London derby in defeat for Spurs.
47:59And winning with 81%, no, that can't be right, 21% of the vote is Tyler Adams.
48:07Again, a brilliant goal, but in defeat for Bournemouth against Nottingham Forest.
48:11Forest coming out 3-2 winners.
48:12And that just goes to show individual moments of brilliance can be rewarded,
48:15even if the team around you fails to reach up to your high standards.
48:20Let's have a look at the goal.
48:26Oh, no.
48:28A gifted Bournemouth possession.
48:30Adams goes for goal.
48:31He spotted Ruse off his line!
48:34What a sensational goal that is from the American.
48:38He doesn't score many.
48:40Take a bow!
48:43Tyler Adams!
48:48Well done, Tyler Adams.
48:49Thank you so much to Shea and to Thomas.
48:51So, trouble with the King at Anfield.
48:53But all's well at the Palace.
