00:00:00Oh, what a goal!
00:00:02Oh, what a goal!
00:00:04Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:06Rudy Alcott!
00:00:08Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Good evening. Five games on the way on a busy Sunday in the Premier League before we head into the international break.
00:00:56Danny Murphy and Joe Hart are here with us, and we start at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
00:01:01Everton taking on Crystal Palace, the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League,
00:01:06currently on the longest stretch of games without defeat in their 120-year history.
00:01:11Simon Brotherton is your commentator.
00:01:14It's two weeks short of six months since Crystal Palace last lost a match,
00:01:19but this is the first of what is to become quite a regular Thursday-Sunday post-European adventure routine.
00:01:25Everton, for their part, remain unbeaten in their new stadium.
00:01:29Tyler Dibbling makes his first Premier League start since moving to Merseyside from Southampton during the summer,
00:01:35and Tierno Barry also plays as Everton make two changes, with Kiernan Dewsbury Hall suspended and Beto dropped to the bench.
00:01:42Crystal Palace are unchanged from last week's win over Liverpool, and 9 of today's 11 also started the 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in Poland on Thursday.
00:01:52Tyrik Mitchell and Ismail Assar are the two exceptions.
00:01:55Here's Munoz.
00:01:59Just stayed in as well by the slenderest of margins.
00:02:05It's a Palace throw.
00:02:07Here comes a long one from Chris Richards.
00:02:13In towards Lacroix and gets his head on it, doesn't fall, and the shot, good save by Pickford.
00:02:21Mateta going for it on the follow-up.
00:02:26Richards throw.
00:02:27Lacroix gets there first with the header, and as it bounces down,
00:02:31falls at the feet of Mark Gay, and brings the save from Pickford.
00:02:35What a job he's done.
00:02:37Oliver Glasner, Palace officially, the seventh-best record in the Premier League since his arrival.
00:02:42Pino looking for Mitchell, O'Brien chasing back.
00:02:46Mateta in the centre.
00:02:48Sar heads to the far post!
00:02:50Oh!
00:02:51And Mitchell wasn't far away.
00:02:55Really good effort.
00:02:56He absolutely leathered it.
00:02:58It may have just skimmed the outside of the post on the way in.
00:03:03David Moyes there, who's led Everton to their best start in four years.
00:03:11Lunoz.
00:03:12Wharton.
00:03:13Now Sarr.
00:03:14This looks promising for Palace.
00:03:15The ball into Mateta.
00:03:16Takes it in his stride!
00:03:17Good save!
00:03:19Best move of the match.
00:03:21Lovely play from Crystal Palace.
00:03:23And a decent save from the Everton and England goalkeeper.
00:03:28Greenish.
00:03:33Greenish.
00:03:38Garner.
00:03:39Decent ball in.
00:03:40Could be a chance.
00:03:41Stretching for it was Barry.
00:03:44That's the best attack from Everton in the opening 35 minutes of the game.
00:03:49It just bounced away from the outstretched leg of the Everton striker, Tierno Barry.
00:03:56Everton up against the joint meanest defence so far in the Premier League.
00:04:00Crystal Palace have only conceded three goals.
00:04:02Along with Arsenal.
00:04:06Here's Pino.
00:04:08Beautifully done.
00:04:09It's Mila Sarr.
00:04:10Alarm bells have been ringing for Everton here.
00:04:13As Munoz comes in.
00:04:141-0.
00:04:16Pickford came out.
00:04:18And just as on Thursday in the Conference League.
00:04:21It's Daniel Munoz.
00:04:22Who puts Crystal Palace ahead.
00:04:24And on the balance of the play in this first half.
00:04:28You can't say that Crystal Palace don't deserve it.
00:04:31It was well worked and beautifully taken.
00:04:34And again, Jeremy Pino really pieces together Crystal Palace's play in so many ways.
00:04:38Sarr picked his moment perfectly.
00:04:42And Munoz able to sweep it past the forward rushing Jordan Pickford.
00:04:49Jack Grealish.
00:04:57Hangs in the air and the header is at Henderson who really parries it away.
00:05:05Jake O'Brien with an early opportunity.
00:05:08Just pushed away by Dean Henderson in the Crystal Palace goal.
00:05:15I should think David Moyes will be feeling a little bit happier with the way his team are playing at the moment.
00:05:19They've certainly started the second half well.
00:05:24Everton have only lost one of the last 12 at home in the league before today.
00:05:29Work to do and it could get worse for them here with Jean-Philippe Mateta.
00:05:33Clean through.
00:05:34Big header away by O'Brien.
00:05:35That was a chance.
00:05:39Crystal Palace threatening a second goal with Mateta.
00:05:43Important header away by Jake O'Brien.
00:05:46Right place at the right time.
00:05:48Mitchell.
00:05:49Pino.
00:05:50Palace on the front foot.
00:05:54What a pass.
00:05:55Ismail Assar.
00:05:56He's round Pickford.
00:05:58And still.
00:05:59And he can't find a way in.
00:06:01And Mateta.
00:06:02Puts it wide under pressure.
00:06:03Puts it wide under pressure.
00:06:07Chances coming and going for Crystal Palace in the last few minutes.
00:06:12Everton survive and it's still a one goal game.
00:06:15That's a lovely pass from Jeremy Pino.
00:06:17Mateta just screwed the shot wide of the post.
00:06:23That's how close it was to 2-0.
00:06:27Well they'll be hoping that that sort of moment doesn't come back to bite them later on.
00:06:32That's Mikulenko challenging for it.
00:06:36Hustling.
00:06:37Hustling.
00:06:38It's Alcaraz for Everton.
00:06:40Flying save from Henderson.
00:06:42Excellent effort from Alcaraz.
00:06:47To ignite the home crowd and almost get Everton back in the game.
00:06:50Well I'm sure he can still see a route back to getting something from this game.
00:06:56All the while that it's 1-0.
00:06:58Crystal Palace maintaining their lead in this second half.
00:07:02But certainly being made to work harder for it now.
00:07:07As Everton go in search of an equaliser.
00:07:10Beto will chase.
00:07:12Down under the challenge of Lacroix.
00:07:14Goes wide.
00:07:15It's a penalty.
00:07:17And Everton do have a route back into the match now.
00:07:20Maxence Lacroix stretched out.
00:07:24And clattered into Tim Erogbunum.
00:07:27He certainly doesn't get the ball.
00:07:30And referee Michael Salisbury quick to point to the penalty spot.
00:07:34And Everton with the chance to draw level here.
00:07:39Willerman and Jai with a chance for a third goal of the season.
00:07:43Big moment.
00:07:45And Jai against Henderson.
00:07:47And it's 1-1.
00:07:48No doubt about it.
00:07:51That's a beautifully taken penalty.
00:07:54Calm and confident.
00:07:57And suddenly the Hill Dickinson Stadium is loud and very, very noisy and animated.
00:08:02And David Moy's team are well and truly back in the game.
00:08:09And suddenly it's got a different feel to it.
00:08:12Everton 1, Crystal Palace 1.
00:08:14Here at Booneham.
00:08:15Nikolenko.
00:08:16Sting taken out of the cross.
00:08:17This is Alcaraz into Eliman and Jai.
00:08:18There's a chance.
00:08:19Oh, what a save by Henderson.
00:08:20It's in.
00:08:21It's in.
00:08:22It's in.
00:08:23Jack Grealish.
00:08:24It's in.
00:08:25Jack Grealish.
00:08:26With his first Everton goal.
00:08:27It added time.
00:08:28And he lifts the roof off this shiny new stadium.
00:08:29What a comeback.
00:08:31Oliver Glashner.
00:08:32Can't believe it.
00:08:33it's in.
00:08:34It's in.
00:08:35It's in.
00:08:36It's in.
00:08:37It's in.
00:08:38It's in.
00:08:39It's in.
00:08:40And it lifts the roof off this shiny new stadium.
00:08:46What a comeback.
00:08:49Oliver Glashner.
00:08:50Can't believe it.
00:08:51His team played so well for so long.
00:08:54But Everton have been putting the pressure on increasingly.
00:08:57Amazingly, the impetus has been with them.
00:09:00The longer the game has gone on, they've fought and fought.
00:09:04And in added time, Henderson with the initial save.
00:09:08Munoz spinning and clearing.
00:09:11And Grealish's left foot deflecting the ball home.
00:09:15It's Everton 2, Crystal Palace 1.
00:09:18Well, what a difference in the mood to that at half-time around the ground
00:09:22among the home fans who were very disgruntled with what they've seen.
00:09:26Not so now.
00:09:2960-70 minutes, fantastic performance of Crystal Palace.
00:09:34So, playing very well, creating chances.
00:09:38And just, we were not efficient enough.
00:09:40And also, it's not to blame anybody.
00:09:42This can happen.
00:09:44And then, we made one mistake.
00:09:45So, we don't make many mistakes in our defence.
00:09:47We made one, they got a penalty, and then it was an open game.
00:09:50And then it was, OK, who gets the lucky punch and takes it.
00:09:53And then, today, it was Everton.
00:09:55Yeah, and it's worth to accept it.
00:09:57It could have been three down, you know.
00:09:58We hung in, we kept defending it, even though we weren't great.
00:10:01But we'd played much better in the second half.
00:10:03And we were worthy of maybe getting it.
00:10:06But not, if you look at it, as I said, they could have had a couple of other goals.
00:10:09It was good, man.
00:10:12You know, just nice to score late on.
00:10:15And, yeah, to score my first goal, you know, here, to do it here, was incredible.
00:10:20You're enjoying yourself, aren't you?
00:10:22Yeah, no, I'm loving it, honestly.
00:10:24I don't know.
00:10:25I don't even know what it is.
00:10:26Just waking up and going to training every day with these guys is a great feeling.
00:10:31And, yeah, to have that love back and the smile on my face.
00:10:34I think you all see him when I scored.
00:10:35But, yeah, it was just brilliant.
00:10:37We will talk about Jack Grealish.
00:10:39As he said, it was a brilliant, particularly second half performance.
00:10:42But the difference, and we should also point out how good Crystal Palace were in the first half of this game.
00:10:47But the difference between Everton from the first half to the second half was so marked by pretty much every measure.
00:10:54They weren't just improved.
00:10:55They were massively improved.
00:10:57So, what do you think the difference was?
00:10:59What changed, Joe?
00:11:01Mindset, personnel.
00:11:03I think Palace, credit to them.
00:11:04And, Danny, they were excellent, weren't they, in the first half?
00:11:06They had so much energy.
00:11:07But they just looked a little bit tired from their, you know, midweek excursions.
00:11:11And Everton, as David Moyes say, they hung in there and then their quality shone through in the end.
00:11:15It was such a good second half performance from Everton.
00:11:19But what did they need to fix from the first?
00:11:21Well, I think it was the changes.
00:11:23You know, he made the call.
00:11:24He took Beto out of the team for a Monday night.
00:11:26He looked like he had a difficult game.
00:11:28Barry starting up front.
00:11:29Just not quite the presence that David Moyes was looking for.
00:11:32Like we say, Crystal Palace were excellent in the first half.
00:11:35Excellent.
00:11:36And they've got very few chances.
00:11:38Barry trying to link up there.
00:11:39Just couldn't really give an option.
00:11:40Ended up hiding behind Palace's back three.
00:11:43This was one of his opportunities in the first half where he managed to get through one-on-one.
00:11:48But a fresh gay here in the first half.
00:11:49Just look like he had this situation under control.
00:11:51Barry didn't really stand a chance.
00:11:53And fair play to David Moyes.
00:11:54You know, he took him out of the team.
00:11:55But he's realised at half-time, I need Beto in my team.
00:11:58I need him pushing, making as much problems as he possibly can.
00:12:02Early on, Pickford's got the option.
00:12:03He sees Beto.
00:12:04We all know Pickford's capable of getting that in over the top.
00:12:08He doesn't take it.
00:12:08But with him stretching the defence, that just brings that main man into the game, Jack Grealish.
00:12:12A little bit of time.
00:12:13Beto making that second run.
00:12:15Just making it difficult.
00:12:16Look, of course, that's a ball to no one.
00:12:18They want Beto in the middle right there.
00:12:19But it was just encouraging signs.
00:12:21Grealish is quoted.
00:12:23He thought Warton was excellent.
00:12:25He thought he was absolutely running the show.
00:12:26This is a senior pro saying, look, young man, as good as you are, I'm not going to let you settle.
00:12:30You're getting it.
00:12:32And that's Jack Grealish at his best.
00:12:34Alcaraz, another half-time change.
00:12:36Flying through.
00:12:36This was late on in the second half.
00:12:39First opportunity.
00:12:40Dean Henderson making an excellent save.
00:12:42In Brunham, he came on.
00:12:44Michael Keane struggling.
00:12:45And they decided to make a positive move.
00:12:47It was really important they got back into the game.
00:12:49But it's more runs off the front man.
00:12:51Beto posting it up.
00:12:53Making it difficult.
00:12:54A tired challenge.
00:12:55Absolute bonus that is for Everton.
00:12:57They couldn't believe their luck having survived two early chances in that second half.
00:13:01Here we see Beto again.
00:13:03And they've gone.
00:13:03This stadium went from being ready to go.
00:13:05Palace had two really good opportunities at 1-0.
00:13:07And this is just winning a corner at 1-0.
00:13:10Revving it up.
00:13:11This is what you want to be in a 50-odd thousand-seater stadium.
00:13:13That's how you want to feel.
00:13:15Jack Grealish, like I said to you before, he just built into the game.
00:13:20And as they got more tired, Munoz, you don't see this happening.
00:13:23This is a man who's absolutely shattered.
00:13:24He's had a tough week.
00:13:26Grealish saying, get off.
00:13:27Creating more chances.
00:13:28And the pressure started to build.
00:13:30Started to build.
00:13:31Andai linking with Alcatraz as he goes over the top.
00:13:35Beautiful ball into the middle.
00:13:37Incredible header from Beto.
00:13:38Would have rounded it up.
00:13:39But how can you begrudge this man?
00:13:41Finishing a tough week.
00:13:42No doubt about it.
00:13:43Excellent finish.
00:13:45So pleased for him.
00:13:46Yeah, Alcatraz got them out of jail.
00:13:48I realise that one.
00:13:50Do you know what?
00:13:51Oh, God.
00:13:51When you're struggling a bit, you need your best players to get on the ball and be brave.
00:13:56And he is a top player.
00:13:57And you can see the difference in the second half.
00:13:59So many more touches in the dangerous areas of the pitch.
00:14:02He was strong.
00:14:02He was fit.
00:14:03He looks happy.
00:14:05He's playing with a strut that we've seen him play with before.
00:14:08And what happens is that's infectious to those around him.
00:14:10I mean, I've got to give Ndiaye a mention as well.
00:14:12He's terrific.
00:14:14But Jack Grealish playing at this level will catch the eye of the England manager at some point.
00:14:18I know he's probably waited to see if he can keep the levels up.
00:14:21But when he's looking as strong as he is now and as brave as he is on the ball,
00:14:26then it's pretty inevitable, really.
00:14:27And when his numbers are pretty much where they were last season off 20 games,
00:14:31and he's only played seven now, as Danny said, six games in,
00:14:35and maybe Thomas Tuchel is thinking, all right, let's see if he can sustain this.
00:14:38But he's going to catch his eye at some stage if he does manage to continue in this vein.
00:14:42Do you know what?
00:14:43You can tell in the way he interviews and the way he's behaving.
00:14:45That's a bonus for him.
00:14:46He's just really happy to get that joy back, get that love of football back.
00:14:49And we all know Jack Grealish is at his best when he's happy, when he's enjoying it,
00:14:52when he's the main man.
00:14:53And like I say, it was a great feeling to see him score that goal.
00:14:56You saw that relief, that excitement.
00:14:58How can you, like I say, how can you begrudge a man playing like that?
00:15:00What about Crystal Palace?
00:15:02As you said, Danny, they started so well in that game, probably had a good 70 minutes in that game.
00:15:07But is it just the exertions of Europe?
00:15:10Is it the fact that they don't have the biggest squad to choose from?
00:15:13In fact, they've made the fewest changes along with Burnley in the Premier League so far this season.
00:15:17That's the key, it's because they've had to basically play the same 10, 11 players for a good while now.
00:15:23And Joe and I were talking about it after the games.
00:15:27And if you're not used to it especially, it's not just the games, it's the mental preparation, it's the travel.
00:15:33And we did see in the latter stages again, I thought maybe some changes earlier for Palace might have helped.
00:15:38But they have done amazingly well.
00:15:41They had some great moments in the game.
00:15:42And to be honest with you, Kelp, there was a spell in the second half, they had a couple of chances, could have put the game to bed.
00:15:47And the manager was pleased with the performance.
00:15:49He knows there's some tired legs out there.
00:15:51There's lots of positive things for Palace to take on into the next few weeks.
00:15:55We've got four more games on the way after September's Goal of the Month.
00:15:59What a way to score your first Premier League match.
00:16:29Goal at the Vitality Stadium.
00:16:38Garnaccio running at Hickey.
00:16:42Oh, well.
00:16:44The shot comes in from Caicedo.
00:16:47And he hammers Chelsea in front.
00:16:51It's pretty difficult to hit the football more sweetly than that.
00:16:55Just the sheer precision and power.
00:16:57It is Anton Stack.
00:17:06Oh!
00:17:08That is a banger!
00:17:12We have to appreciate the power and the accuracy.
00:17:16This ball stays hit.
00:17:18Wharton towards Kamada.
00:17:27Oh, brilliantly turned in.
00:17:30That is a sensational goal by Mitchell.
00:17:33He has just smashed that into the roof of the net.
00:17:36Like a striker in his pop.
00:17:38There's a useful...
00:17:49Martinelli!
00:17:52Oh!
00:17:57Magnificent!
00:17:58From Martinelli!
00:18:00To level it for Arsenal later on!
00:18:05The Emirates Syrox!
00:18:15Henderson looks long.
00:18:17The flag momentarily has stayed down.
00:18:19It's Igor Thiago!
00:18:20It's in!
00:18:20It's a brilliant ball.
00:18:24Crashed it home.
00:18:26It's most famous goal for Brentford yet.
00:18:34Good news.
00:18:35The ball is still in play as the two wrestle for it.
00:18:39It's still in play.
00:18:40And it's Noah Okafor.
00:18:42And it's Aronson!
00:18:43Great block by Seneci and Longstaff!
00:18:462-1 Leagues!
00:18:51He's controlled that beautifully.
00:18:53And it nearly took the roof off.
00:18:58And you can vote right now using the QR code on the screen

00:19:13Ange Postacoglu was still searching for his first win
00:19:16in charge of Nottingham Forest
00:19:17when he took his side to Newcastle.
00:19:19Stephen Wyeth was at St James' Park.
00:19:22European commitments in midweek were kind on one,
00:19:25cruel on the other.
00:19:27Newcastle go again with the side
00:19:28that started their record Champions League win in Belgium.
00:19:32Anthony Alanga faces the club he left in July
00:19:34and Nick Voltamata tries to score for a third game in a row.
00:19:38Forest's defeat by Michelin was their fourth in 26 days.
00:19:42Since Ange Postacoglu's arrival,
00:19:43he responds with full Premier League debuts for Giacuna
00:19:47and Nicolo Savona and a 100th for Ryan Yates.
00:19:51Chris Wood is recalled to face his old team.
00:19:55Both these sides have only won once in the Premier League this season,
00:19:58such as perceptions.
00:19:59That seems alarming for Nottingham Forest,
00:20:03less so for Newcastle United.
00:20:07Gibbs White has given it away to Byrne.
00:20:10Gordon.
00:20:11assesses his options,
00:20:15spots Trippier arriving.
00:20:17Joel Linton!
00:20:20Either side of Matt Searles
00:20:22and this might have been awkward for the Forest goalkeeper.
00:20:25He was able to react sharply.
00:20:28Less than four weeks in,
00:20:29and we're already talking about how he's
00:20:31retained the faith of the club hierarchy,
00:20:34but the pressure is intensifying.
00:20:37Time is not something you get
00:20:38under the spotlight of the Premier League.
00:20:42Malanga.
00:20:43Swaps, passes with Gordon.
00:20:50He delivers a cross,
00:20:51it heads right back in his direction.
00:20:52It will be a corner,
00:20:57after a glance between the officials
00:20:59to determine exactly what they thought had happened there.
00:21:03And what has to have done the early probing?
00:21:06And Trippier can whip in a corner.
00:21:10And from Trippier.
00:21:12Deep one.
00:21:14And that's a sensational save.
00:21:17Joel Linton testing Matt Searles
00:21:20with the fingertips
00:21:21to claw the ball aside.
00:21:25Newcastle wearing black armbands today
00:21:27in memory of their
00:21:28Fairs Cup winning goalkeeper
00:21:30and former manager
00:21:31Willie McFall
00:21:32who's found at the age of 82.
00:21:36Gordon.
00:21:40Oh, it's just gifted in to Vltamada
00:21:43and then recovers.
00:21:46This is as good an opportunity
00:21:48that has come the way.
00:21:50of a striker so far today.
00:21:51What was Murato thinking?
00:21:54A tepid clearance
00:21:55followed up
00:21:56with a brave reaction
00:21:58to get his body in the way of the shot.
00:22:05Here comes Endoy.
00:22:08Here's Charter Forest
00:22:10to threaten in the second half.
00:22:11Williams.
00:22:14Shot away.
00:22:14No drama for Pope.
00:22:19Oh, Newcastle really in this second half
00:22:23but still nothing to show for it.
00:22:26Oh, brilliantly won back
00:22:30and Newcastle look threatening.
00:22:32Bruno Guimaraes.
00:22:33Oh, it's just a stunner.
00:22:38A moment of individual brilliance
00:22:40when Newcastle required it most
00:22:42and on an afternoon
00:22:44when Forest have defended so robustly
00:22:47something from long range
00:22:50has finally breached
00:22:52their result
00:22:54but Forest think perhaps
00:22:56foul by Bruno Guimaraes
00:22:58on Morgan Gibbs-White
00:23:00in the build-up.
00:23:02That has
00:23:03immediately been
00:23:04brushed aside
00:23:05by the VAR.
00:23:07A special goal
00:23:08has Newcastle in front.
00:23:10A second of the season
00:23:11for Bruno Guimaraes.
00:23:13Newcastle lead
00:23:14Nottingham Forest
00:23:141-0.
00:23:15Was there any case
00:23:18whatsoever
00:23:18for a foul there
00:23:20by Bruno Guimaraes
00:23:22on Morgan Gibbs-White
00:23:23Forest thinks so
00:23:25crucially
00:23:26the officials
00:23:28neither in real time
00:23:29nor with the benefit
00:23:30of a replay
00:23:30agreed with them.
00:23:33Trippier
00:23:33Tonali
00:23:35backpedalling
00:23:39Sells
00:23:39comes up with the save
00:23:40it would have been a
00:23:41quite remarkable
00:23:43second Newcastle goal
00:23:45Tonali
00:23:51headed down
00:23:53and Valtemar
00:23:55they're off the
00:23:55underside of the bar
00:23:56but not
00:23:57crucially over the line.
00:24:01Valtemar
00:24:02cannot believe
00:24:03he hasn't scored
00:24:04for a third game
00:24:06in a row.
00:24:09Sensational skill.
00:24:12Here comes
00:24:12Hudson-Odoi
00:24:14he's made up a huge
00:24:16amount of ground
00:24:17Callum Hudson-Odoi
00:24:19deep
00:24:22inroads into
00:24:23Newcastle territory
00:24:24other choices
00:24:26were available
00:24:26to Callum Hudson-Odoi
00:24:27and perhaps
00:24:28better options
00:24:29were available
00:24:29the shot
00:24:30straight at Nick Pope.
00:24:31Joel Linton
00:24:34Murphy
00:24:35great cross
00:24:37somehow
00:24:38Sells
00:24:38comes up
00:24:39with a save
00:24:39seems certain
00:24:43to become
00:24:442-0
00:24:44Murphy again
00:24:50what a pass
00:24:52what a pass
00:24:52once again
00:24:53Matt Sells
00:24:54is there
00:24:54to repel
00:24:55the effort
00:24:55from Harvey
00:24:57Barnes
00:24:57if
00:25:00Nottingham Forest
00:25:00get anything
00:25:01out of the game
00:25:02today
00:25:02it is their goalkeeper
00:25:04who will deserve
00:25:05an awful lot
00:25:05of the credit
00:25:06two opportunities
00:25:08to put it
00:25:09beyond doubt
00:25:10still 1-0
00:25:12when Newcastle
00:25:13could be
00:25:14in the clear
00:25:15Anderson
00:25:22caught in
00:25:23possession
00:25:24and then
00:25:25lunging in
00:25:26and the foul
00:25:27on Brunaghi Maresh
00:25:28has resulted
00:25:29in a penalty
00:25:29so much talk
00:25:32about Elliot
00:25:33Anderson's
00:25:33return to
00:25:34St James' Park
00:25:35but his
00:25:36contribution
00:25:37to the game
00:25:37that he will
00:25:38be remembered
00:25:39for
00:25:39may well
00:25:40be that
00:25:41the perfect
00:25:42chance
00:25:43on Newcastle
00:25:44to
00:25:44ease themselves
00:25:46towards
00:25:46just a second
00:25:47Premier League
00:25:47win of the season
00:25:48Nick Voltemada
00:25:50it's an outstanding
00:25:53penalty
00:25:54daylight
00:25:56between
00:25:57Newcastle United
00:25:58and Nottingham Forest
00:26:00and make a note
00:26:02Les Ferdinand
00:26:031995
00:26:04Alan Shearer
00:26:051996
00:26:06and Nick Voltemada
00:26:08in 2025
00:26:09all
00:26:11scoring in each
00:26:12of their first
00:26:13three Premier League
00:26:13home games
00:26:14for Newcastle
00:26:15right into the top
00:26:17corner
00:26:17to make it
00:26:18Newcastle United
00:26:192
00:26:20Nottingham Forest
00:26:200
00:26:21we had to work
00:26:23very hard
00:26:24and I think
00:26:24patience was key
00:26:25today
00:26:25first half
00:26:26was
00:26:26sort of minimal
00:26:28goal mouth action
00:26:28but I thought
00:26:29we were the better
00:26:29team
00:26:30certainly
00:26:30expressed ourselves
00:26:31a lot better
00:26:32I think
00:26:32in the second
00:26:33half
00:26:33and deservedly
00:26:33won the game
00:26:34I've been
00:26:34practicating a lot
00:26:35in the week
00:26:36and when I have
00:26:37seen the space
00:26:38I thought
00:26:38why not
00:26:39so I get
00:26:40a shot
00:26:40unbelievable goal
00:26:42very happy
00:26:43massive moment
00:26:44for myself
00:26:44as well
00:26:45so yeah
00:26:45have to keep
00:26:46going
00:26:46but I'm very
00:26:47happy for today
00:26:48I think there
00:26:49might have been
00:26:49a foul
00:26:50how did you
00:26:50interpret your
00:26:51challenge on
00:26:51Morgan
00:26:52it was never
00:26:53foul
00:26:53to be fair
00:26:54football is
00:26:55about contact
00:26:57but I'm sure
00:26:58I touched the
00:26:59ball before
00:26:59I touched the
00:27:00ball for
00:27:00Dunburn
00:27:01and after
00:27:01it had the
00:27:02contact
00:27:02but this is
00:27:03never foul
00:27:03never never
00:27:047 games in
00:27:05the 26 days
00:27:06since you took
00:27:07over
00:27:07it's been a
00:27:07rollercoaster
00:27:08you'd have
00:27:09known that
00:27:09was going to
00:27:09be a challenge
00:27:10even bigger
00:27:11challenge
00:27:11than you
00:27:11anticipated
00:27:12no not really
00:27:13I knew it was
00:27:13a big challenge
00:27:14walking in
00:27:14and that's what
00:27:15it is
00:27:16and there's
00:27:16nothing wrong
00:27:17with that
00:27:17I mean
00:27:17I don't get
00:27:18why people
00:27:19kind of
00:27:20think that
00:27:21this is
00:27:22something
00:27:22that
00:27:22you know
00:27:24is a
00:27:25burden
00:27:25anyway
00:27:25I love
00:27:26a challenge
00:27:26the alternative
00:27:27is that
00:27:27I wouldn't
00:27:28be sitting
00:27:28at home
00:27:29watching the
00:27:29game
00:27:29and I don't
00:27:29want to do
00:27:30that
00:27:30I want to
00:27:30be in the
00:27:30middle of it
00:27:31so that's
00:27:31where I am
00:27:32and the
00:27:32belief I had
00:27:33and the
00:27:33confidence I had
00:27:34going into
00:27:34the job
00:27:34hasn't wavered
00:27:35it one bit
00:27:35yeah we haven't
00:27:36got the results
00:27:37in this period
00:27:38but not through
00:27:39the lack of
00:27:39effort from the
00:27:40players or
00:27:41the lack of
00:27:42commitment to a
00:27:42different style
00:27:43of football
00:27:43all those things
00:27:44are there
00:27:45we've just
00:27:45got to get
00:27:45the results
00:27:46now and
00:27:46we've got
00:27:46two weeks
00:27:47to get
00:27:47that right
00:27:47it was a
00:27:48challenge for
00:27:49Nottingham Forest
00:27:50but they also
00:27:51came up against
00:27:51Nick Voltemard
00:27:52now when a
00:27:53legend of the
00:27:53game like
00:27:54Karl-Heinz
00:27:54Rummenigga
00:27:55comes out
00:27:56and says
00:27:56that they
00:27:56found an
00:27:56idiot in
00:27:57Newcastle
00:27:57who is
00:27:58willing to
00:27:58pay 69
00:27:59million pounds
00:27:59for someone
00:28:00who hadn't
00:28:01shown consistently
00:28:02that he could
00:28:03deliver
00:28:03it might be
00:28:04polite to
00:28:05listen
00:28:05however
00:28:06this season
00:28:07and we saw
00:28:08there that
00:28:09he's now
00:28:09scored in
00:28:10three home
00:28:10games
00:28:10he's along
00:28:11the likes
00:28:11of Alan
00:28:12Shearer and
00:28:12Les Ferdinand
00:28:13when we see
00:28:15the number
00:28:15that he's
00:28:15putting and
00:28:16the performances
00:28:16that he's
00:28:17putting in
00:28:17this season
00:28:18he might yet
00:28:19prove worth
00:28:20that money
00:28:20I think he
00:28:21will he's
00:28:22got a great
00:28:22mentality
00:28:23he's calm
00:28:24he's composed
00:28:24I love his
00:28:25interviews
00:28:25he's taken
00:28:27it all in
00:28:27his stride
00:28:28he looks
00:28:28comfortable
00:28:29I love his
00:28:30moustache
00:28:30he's got
00:28:31style
00:28:31I love his
00:28:33hair
00:28:33most importantly
00:28:36from a
00:28:36footballing
00:28:37perspective
00:28:37which we're
00:28:38going to
00:28:38see now
00:28:38he's got
00:28:39such intelligence
00:28:40he links
00:28:42to play
00:28:43beautifully
00:28:43he seems
00:28:44to always
00:28:44make the
00:28:45right
00:28:45decisions
00:28:45when it's
00:28:46one such
00:28:46when to
00:28:46take it
00:28:47in and
00:28:47protect
00:28:47it
00:28:48and what
00:28:49I like
00:28:49most about
00:28:49him
00:28:49see here
00:28:50he wants
00:28:50the ball
00:28:50in the
00:28:51box
00:28:51put it
00:28:52in for me
00:28:52didn't come
00:28:53this time
00:28:53but he's
00:28:54always in
00:28:54between
00:28:55the 18
00:28:55yard box
00:28:56lovely little
00:28:57touch
00:28:57that awareness
00:28:58of players
00:28:58around him
00:28:59which is
00:28:59great for
00:29:00Newcastle
00:29:00because they've
00:29:00got so much
00:29:01pace around
00:29:02him
00:29:02and he's
00:29:03got strength
00:29:04today
00:29:05I don't think
00:29:05he gave
00:29:06one ball away
00:29:06which for a
00:29:07striker is
00:29:07incredible
00:29:08and the more
00:29:10the game
00:29:10went on
00:29:10in the
00:29:10second half
00:29:11when Newcastle
00:29:12were pushing
00:29:13the better
00:29:13he got
00:29:13he got
00:29:14himself in
00:29:14some good
00:29:15positions
00:29:15he'll be
00:29:15disappointed
00:29:16here
00:29:16I think
00:29:16he'll be
00:29:17a bit
00:29:17lucky for
00:29:18him to
00:29:18for that
00:29:18one to
00:29:19fall to
00:29:19him
00:29:19and he
00:29:20lashed at
00:29:21it a little
00:29:21bit
00:29:21but the
00:29:21strength
00:29:22here
00:29:22I mean
00:29:23he's up
00:29:23against the
00:29:23likes of
00:29:24Morata
00:29:24and Milenkovic
00:29:25and they
00:29:26can't get
00:29:26through him
00:29:26he's enjoying
00:29:27the battle
00:29:27he's enjoying
00:29:28the fight
00:29:28and then he's
00:29:29quick with
00:29:31his pass
00:29:31forward there
00:29:32to get the
00:29:32team on the
00:29:32front foot
00:29:33and these
00:29:34little moments
00:29:34when the ball
00:29:40it's a great
00:29:41example for
00:29:41young players
00:29:42that when you
00:29:42play as a
00:29:43striker
00:29:43so not only
00:29:44keep your
00:29:44position but
00:29:45make sure
00:29:46you have
00:29:46pride in
00:29:47keeping the
00:29:47ball and
00:29:47making sure
00:29:48your team
00:29:48can build
00:29:49up
00:29:49this one
00:29:50great little
00:29:50effort
00:29:51outside of
00:29:51the foot
00:29:51underside
00:29:52of the bar
00:29:52he's probably
00:29:53thinking it's
00:29:53not my day
00:29:54and then of
00:29:56course as the
00:29:56game goes on
00:29:57he gets the
00:29:57penalty and
00:29:58takes responsibility
00:29:59and what about
00:29:59that Joe
00:30:00for the penalty
00:30:00I mean no
00:30:01keepers getting
00:30:01that
00:30:02I absolutely
00:30:02love it
00:30:03I love it
00:30:03to stand there
00:30:04and look him
00:30:04in the eyes
00:30:05and say what
00:30:05you're going to
00:30:06do mate
00:30:06and to just rip
00:30:10given in the
00:30:10approach to
00:30:11that fair
00:30:12look it was
00:30:13fantastic from
00:30:15Valtemar
00:30:15his numbers
00:30:16against Nottingham
00:30:18Forest
00:30:18well there's
00:30:18that Passanac
00:30:19you were talking
00:30:19to you about
00:30:20which is incredible
00:30:20for a front man
00:30:21big chances as
00:30:22well three
00:30:23when you play
00:30:25well and you're
00:30:26reliable but
00:30:27you're also a
00:30:27goal threat
00:30:28that's all you
00:30:29want there's
00:30:29nobody in
00:30:30Newcastle at
00:30:31the moment who's
00:30:32talking about
00:30:33Isak anymore
00:30:33and that's
00:30:34credit to him
00:30:34what about
00:30:36Nottingham Forest
00:30:37and their results
00:30:38under Ange
00:30:38Postacoglu so
00:30:39far because
00:30:40we can look
00:30:40at this game
00:30:41and we can
00:30:42look at the
00:30:42difference between
00:30:43the first half
00:30:43and the second
00:30:44half and part
00:30:45of that obviously
00:30:45is Newcastle's
00:30:47improved performance
00:30:48in the second
00:30:49half but all
00:30:50of Forest's
00:30:50numbers were
00:30:51down in the
00:30:52second half
00:30:53of that game
00:30:54which led to
00:30:54an XG of
00:30:550.23 in the
00:30:57second 45 minutes
00:30:58on its own
00:30:59at St James'
00:31:00Park that might
00:31:00be alright but
00:31:01when you take
00:31:02it in the
00:31:02context of
00:31:03results under
00:31:04Ange Postacoglu
00:31:05in the league
00:31:06Forest fans might
00:31:07be justifiably
00:31:08getting a little
00:31:09bit nervous
00:31:10about what
00:31:11the future
00:31:11holds because
00:31:12there hasn't
00:31:13been a win
00:31:13yet
00:31:13with your
00:31:15experience of
00:31:16playing under
00:31:16him at Celtic
00:31:17can you give
00:31:18them some
00:31:19reassurance?
00:31:20Well I can
00:31:20one thing I can
00:31:21say you know
00:31:22it's going to be
00:31:22difficult coming in
00:31:23mid-season but
00:31:24I don't feel
00:31:25sorry for him of
00:31:25course I don't
00:31:26because he knew
00:31:26the job you
00:31:27know he knows
00:31:28what he's doing
00:31:29he's very much
00:31:29said that in his
00:31:30interview but
00:31:31when he came in
00:31:31at Celtic you
00:31:32know we were
00:31:32three wins for
00:31:34our first six games
00:31:35and the pressure
00:31:36was mounting
00:31:36you know there
00:31:37was a lot of
00:31:38pressure from
00:31:38outside a lot
00:31:39of people probably
00:31:40wanted him out of
00:31:41Celtic at that
00:31:41point and we had
00:31:42a moment away at
00:31:43Livingston we lost
00:31:441-0 95% away crowd
00:31:47in the stadium and
00:31:48the pressure was on
00:31:49but we got in that
00:31:50dressing room we
00:31:51kind of looked at him
00:31:52thinking are we going
00:31:52to change things and
00:31:53he doubled down he
00:31:54said look this is how
00:31:54I want us to play it's
00:31:55going to be tough we're
00:31:56going to go through
00:31:56rocky times trust in
00:31:58me we did trust in
00:31:59him three titles later
00:32:01I'm not saying they're
00:32:01going to win the league
00:32:02but you've got to
00:32:02give you've got to
00:32:03give a manager a time
00:32:04especially midway
00:32:05through the season and
00:32:06you imagine that is the
00:32:07talk he'll be having
00:32:08with Evangelos Maranacos
00:32:09when they do meet
00:32:10later on this week to
00:32:12Villa Park next Burnley
00:32:13the visitors yet to
00:32:14gain any points away
00:32:15from home so far this
00:32:16season your commentator
00:32:18is James Fielden
00:32:19Villa welcome back
00:32:21Emi Martinez after he
00:32:22pulled out of their
00:32:23game of Feyenoord with
00:32:24a calf injury there were
00:32:25recalls for Luca
00:32:26Dina and Lamar Bogard
00:32:27while Daniel Marlin
00:32:29replaces the in-form
00:32:30Emi Buendia
00:32:30Burnley defender
00:32:32Hjalmar Ekdal isn't
00:32:33injured but is omitted
00:32:34from their squad so
00:32:35former Villa defender
00:32:36of three loan spells
00:32:37Axel Tuunzebi comes in
00:32:38for his first league
00:32:39appearance Jaden
00:32:41Anthony has four goals
00:32:42in his last five games
00:32:43and Harry Kane is the
00:32:44only Englishman to
00:32:45have scored more than
00:32:46him across Europe's
00:32:47top tiers
00:32:48cash
00:32:55Marlin
00:32:57helps it on here to
00:33:00Rodgers
00:33:01Morgan Rodgers
00:33:02deflected
00:33:03and narrowly wide
00:33:05well he's certainly had
00:33:08his critics in the last
00:33:09few weeks Morgan Rodgers
00:33:10career best 14 goals in
00:33:12all competitions last
00:33:13season for him
00:33:14couldn't get his first of
00:33:16the campaign there
00:33:17free header
00:33:21great save by Dubralca
00:33:23and Esri
00:33:24Konza denied
00:33:25well so many of his
00:33:28Villa goals have come
00:33:29here at home
00:33:30eight of ten all told
00:33:31and he nearly added
00:33:33another there
00:33:33Unai Emery has won
00:33:36all five of his games
00:33:37against Burnley
00:33:38he only has a better
00:33:39100% record against
00:33:40Fulham
00:33:40eight out of eight
00:33:42against the Cottagers
00:33:42Watkins
00:33:44Rodgers
00:33:46quick release
00:33:47Cameron
00:33:48Marlin
00:33:49straight through the
00:33:50middle
00:33:50Daniel Marlin
00:33:51with a chance here
00:33:52for Villa
00:33:52a step there
00:33:53winning
00:33:54but Marlin scores
00:33:55oh how he needed
00:34:00that
00:34:00he's looked so
00:34:02isolated at times
00:34:03when he started on
00:34:04his own for Villa
00:34:05and Cameron
00:34:06takes big credit
00:34:07for the assist
00:34:08as well
00:34:08Daniel Marlin's
00:34:10three goals for Aston Villa
00:34:12came in back-to-back
00:34:13matches towards the
00:34:13end of last season
00:34:14that's his first of
00:34:16this term
00:34:16and he took it so
00:34:17well
00:34:18but Burnley split
00:34:20apart
00:34:20not great for a side
00:34:22of three centre-halves
00:34:23and Marlin look
00:34:25confident
00:34:25lovely reverse there
00:34:27across Dubralca
00:34:28Aston Villa one
00:34:29Burnley nil
00:34:30Karl Walker with
00:34:33this throw
00:34:33Foster
00:34:34Burnley gaining
00:34:3620 yards up the
00:34:37field
00:34:37every team
00:34:42seems to have a
00:34:43long throw taker
00:34:44these days
00:34:44but
00:34:44nothing new
00:34:46with Karl Walker
00:34:46he's always had it
00:34:47in his locker
00:34:47back out here
00:34:49to Cullen
00:34:50who strikes it
00:34:51sweetly
00:34:51and Martinez
00:34:52with a top stop
00:34:53not too many people
00:34:55were expecting him
00:34:55to be in goal
00:34:56today
00:34:56showed smart reflexes
00:34:59there to get down
00:35:00and touch it behind
00:35:00it's a tough ask
00:35:02for Burnley
00:35:03now
00:35:03they've failed to
00:35:04win in any of
00:35:04their last 30 matches
00:35:05when conceding first
00:35:06in the Premier League
00:35:07that seems a victory
00:35:08over Watford
00:35:09back in April
00:35:102022
00:35:10Rodgers
00:35:13Dini
00:35:14galloping up
00:35:15on the overlap
00:35:15McGinn
00:35:16oh it was a nice
00:35:18ball back towards
00:35:19Rodgers who goes
00:35:19down
00:35:20referee
00:35:21Andrew Kitchen
00:35:22has a look
00:35:23but doesn't react
00:35:23to the challenge
00:35:24it was a classic
00:35:26give and go
00:35:27delightful touch
00:35:28there by McGinn
00:35:29and there was a
00:35:29clear pull by
00:35:30Tuunzevic
00:35:30check complete
00:35:32Michael Oliver
00:35:33the VAR
00:35:34says there was a
00:35:34slight pull on the
00:35:35shirt but it
00:35:36wouldn't warrant a
00:35:37review
00:35:37Bogart turns away
00:35:41Marlon
00:35:44wants the freedom
00:35:46of the Burnley
00:35:47half to do what
00:35:47he wants
00:35:48and he finds
00:35:48Watkins
00:35:49Marlon coming
00:35:50in again
00:35:50Tuunzevic blocks
00:35:52and Rodgers
00:35:53Dabrauka to the
00:35:54rescue
00:35:55things suddenly
00:35:59look promising
00:36:00there for Villa
00:36:00Watkins with a
00:36:02lovely little touch
00:36:03back towards
00:36:04Marlon
00:36:04Tuunzevic slips
00:36:06but the goalkeeper
00:36:07was there
00:36:07Konzert
00:36:10Watkins drops
00:36:11into the hole
00:36:12Cullen there as
00:36:14well
00:36:15and he clears up
00:36:15again
00:36:16they have Florentino
00:36:20down
00:36:20facing the grass
00:36:22at the moment
00:36:22and they want to
00:36:23stop the game
00:36:23gesturing that the
00:36:29elbow was used
00:36:30only playing with
00:36:3210 with Florentino
00:36:33off the field
00:36:33having received
00:36:34treatment
00:36:34Rodgers
00:36:39Marlon
00:36:41a chance for his
00:36:42second
00:36:42which he takes
00:36:44brilliantly
00:36:44a lethal finish
00:36:53from the Dutchman
00:36:53and maybe
00:36:55Villa fans
00:36:56starting to see
00:36:57why they partied
00:36:58with serious cash
00:36:59for him
00:36:59back in the winter
00:37:00Villa so patient
00:37:02but Rodgers
00:37:03in that space
00:37:04that they've had
00:37:05so often
00:37:05this afternoon
00:37:06and Marlon
00:37:07peeling away
00:37:08that's a super finish
00:37:10conveniently
00:37:11time for Daniel
00:37:12Marlon
00:37:13Villa were about
00:37:14to take him off
00:37:14and Marlon
00:37:17rifles home
00:37:18Villa's advantage
00:37:19they're two to the good
00:37:20and on the way
00:37:21to three
00:37:22valuable points
00:37:23Walker
00:37:26giving away
00:37:28to Bogart
00:37:29on one
00:37:30to Cash
00:37:31Mati Cash
00:37:32scored from range
00:37:33recently
00:37:34and he nearly
00:37:35does again
00:37:35oh Mati Cash
00:37:37scored that
00:37:37screamer at Sunderland
00:37:39a couple of weeks ago
00:37:41and the Holt end
00:37:42urging him to shoot
00:37:43again
00:37:43Dubrowka
00:37:44with another
00:37:44great stop
00:37:45for his side
00:37:46Laurent
00:37:50trying to release
00:37:56Hartman
00:37:56who gets it
00:37:57eventually
00:37:57too far ahead
00:37:59of Jakob
00:37:59Runn Larsson
00:38:00it has gone
00:38:02behind for a corner
00:38:03an unlikely one
00:38:05from a Burnley
00:38:05point of view
00:38:06by Hartman
00:38:12free header
00:38:13and Burnley
00:38:14back in the game
00:38:15Martinez
00:38:17makes
00:38:17and Lesley
00:38:20Ugutukwu
00:38:21has given the
00:38:22Clarence life
00:38:23in this game
00:38:23again
00:38:24well it was a
00:38:26totally free header
00:38:27on the six yard line
00:38:28he probably couldn't
00:38:30believe his luck
00:38:31Martinez
00:38:32I'm sure
00:38:33will be disappointed
00:38:33about how it flew
00:38:34through him as well
00:38:35he's urging his side
00:38:37to get back
00:38:38and get on
00:38:38with the game
00:38:39across Barkley
00:38:45here
00:38:45Dina on the
00:38:47outside
00:38:48Luca Dina
00:38:49Buentia
00:38:53keeping his feet
00:38:55Rodgers
00:38:56Dina
00:38:56flying save
00:38:58by Dubrowka
00:38:59and had that gone in
00:39:01it really would have
00:39:01settled it
00:39:02he's been excellent
00:39:04today
00:39:04Martin Dubrowka
00:39:05has saved his side
00:39:06time and again
00:39:07Guesson
00:39:12and he's giving it away
00:39:13Fleming
00:39:14as Ian Fleming
00:39:17holds off the challenge
00:39:18and it's Guentia
00:39:20down holding his face
00:39:21here
00:39:21and actually
00:39:24with Burnley
00:39:25on the attack
00:39:25and it being a head injury
00:39:26referee Andrew Kitchen
00:39:28feels the need
00:39:28to stop play
00:39:29Ian Fleming
00:39:31did move the arm
00:39:32up into a
00:39:33vertical position
00:39:35but VAR
00:39:37Michael Oliver
00:39:38says everything
00:39:39was okay
00:39:40that was aggressive
00:39:41though from Fleming
00:39:42the game
00:39:44paused for over
00:39:45five minutes
00:39:45in added time
00:39:47as Emi Buentia
00:39:48receives extensive
00:39:49treatment
00:39:50maybe the positive
00:39:51is that he doesn't
00:39:52need the stretcher
00:39:52at the end of it
00:39:53Emi Buentia
00:39:54what is the latest
00:39:55with him?
00:39:56hopefully it's not
00:39:57just I finish the match
00:39:59and I saw him
00:40:00and he's getting better
00:40:02and for Donjon Marlon
00:40:03today he was playing
00:40:04in the forward line
00:40:05he had lots of support
00:40:06Ollie Watkins
00:40:06and two great finishes
00:40:07from him
00:40:08yes really he talks
00:40:10this challenge
00:40:11himself strongly
00:40:12to help
00:40:14playing the starting
00:40:15eleven as well
00:40:16tactically we tried
00:40:17to get him
00:40:18feeling comfortable
00:40:20in our structure
00:40:20and more close
00:40:22with Watkins
00:40:23close to get the box
00:40:25and he did it
00:40:26and he scored
00:40:26because he's a scorer
00:40:27I think it was a good
00:40:28performance overall
00:40:29first half I think
00:40:30we were really on it
00:40:31second half
00:40:32with stages
00:40:33we were also good
00:40:34so I think
00:40:35we were quite pleased
00:40:36we switched off
00:40:37in certain moments
00:40:38and I think the second goal
00:40:38probably epitomised that
00:40:39really we're down to ten men
00:40:41we've been in games
00:40:42this year
00:40:42and we've been hugely competitive
00:40:43and I think there's a
00:40:44there's a theme
00:40:45at the moment
00:40:45where we're just switching off
00:40:46in certain things
00:40:47and this is a deadly league
00:40:48that you switch off
00:40:49for one second
00:40:51and it can punish you
00:40:52and when I look over
00:40:53the course of the first
00:40:54seven games
00:40:55there's huge elements
00:40:56to us
00:40:56what I really really like
00:40:57and there's just
00:40:58little things
00:40:58that we need to fix up
00:40:59on a bit
00:41:00and they came up
00:41:02against Donjon Marlon
00:41:03playing up front
00:41:03in a two
00:41:04with Ollie Watkins
00:41:05they've been trying
00:41:06to get the best
00:41:06out of Ollie Watkins
00:41:07Donjon Marlon
00:41:08wanted to go up there
00:41:09and help
00:41:10he put his case
00:41:10to Unai Emery
00:41:11and he delivered Danny
00:41:12what's going on
00:41:14we've got pairings up front
00:41:15long throwings
00:41:16keep us kicking it long
00:41:18we're going back inside
00:41:19it's amazing
00:41:20bring us back
00:41:21it worked a treat
00:41:23whether it was Marlon
00:41:24or the manager
00:41:24the manager's given
00:41:25the role
00:41:26and it gave
00:41:28Villa Elisa life
00:41:30it helped Watkins
00:41:31perfect
00:41:32Watkins looking to
00:41:33threaten him behind
00:41:34Marlon comes in the space
00:41:36of course
00:41:36because the defenders
00:41:37have to drop off
00:41:38because they're scared
00:41:38of pace
00:41:38this was early in the game
00:41:40and he looked full of beans
00:41:41full of confidence
00:41:42one in the ball
00:41:43constantly making
00:41:44different runs
00:41:45and they ran the Burnley defence
00:41:46ragged the pair of them
00:41:47because they're both
00:41:48obviously quick
00:41:49but they mixed up
00:41:50their games nicely
00:41:50switched sides a lot
00:41:51as well
00:41:52here two options
00:41:53for Kamara there
00:41:55can go left or right
00:41:57defenders not sure
00:41:58which way to go
00:41:58who am I going with
00:41:59and we're so used to
00:42:01seeing players isolated
00:42:02in that forward position
00:42:03and midfielders only
00:42:04having one option
00:42:04or go wide
00:42:05this was so refreshing
00:42:07see it's a brilliant finish
00:42:08and obviously Watkins
00:42:10could have been there
00:42:10for the tapping
00:42:11if he missed it
00:42:11again here
00:42:13you can see this
00:42:14attracting the attention
00:42:15of the centre-halves
00:42:17want to get tight
00:42:18defenders naturally
00:42:19want to go in
00:42:20and you see that space
00:42:21where he's left
00:42:21big huge gap
00:42:22you know what
00:42:23Ollie Watkins is going to do
00:42:24he's going to run in there
00:42:26all day
00:42:26and when you get that space
00:42:28and you're a forward
00:42:29with the qualities
00:42:30of Watkins
00:42:30it's going to help you
00:42:31when you've got someone
00:42:32next to you
00:42:33and this is what you want
00:42:34from two front players
00:42:35aware of each other's
00:42:36positions
00:42:36complete unselfishness
00:42:39nice link up
00:42:40Rodgers will be
00:42:41disappointed he didn't
00:42:41score
00:42:42and this is the goal
00:42:44I think
00:42:45it's a brilliant finish
00:42:46again look
00:42:47as we freeze it here
00:42:48Burnley have got five
00:42:49in the line
00:42:49but they still can't cope
00:42:51with the two runners
00:42:52in behind
00:42:52nice positions
00:42:54for both of them
00:42:54both passes were on
00:42:55and that
00:42:56is a hell of a finish
00:42:58technically brilliant
00:42:59from a player
00:43:00who really
00:43:01we haven't seen
00:43:03the best of
00:43:03and shouldn't have
00:43:04the confidence
00:43:05to go and score
00:43:06that goal
00:43:07with the limited minutes
00:43:08he's asked
00:43:08now he's given Emery
00:43:09a headache
00:43:09but what a great headache
00:43:11to have
00:43:11but he's also helped Emery
00:43:12because that's four wins
00:43:13in a row
00:43:14in all competitions
00:43:15now for Villa
00:43:15after a really tricky start
00:43:17where they couldn't get
00:43:18a goal in any of those games
00:43:19and he's now got to
00:43:2180 wins quicker
00:43:22than any other Villa manager
00:43:23so we need to put that
00:43:25start to the season
00:43:26in that wider context
00:43:27well I couldn't believe
00:43:28any rumours
00:43:29or murmurs
00:43:30I should say
00:43:31of discontent
00:43:31this guy is a brilliant manager
00:43:33and he would
00:43:34great managers
00:43:35always find a way
00:43:35he's got plenty of talent
00:43:37in the squad
00:43:37it was only a matter of time
00:43:39before they were going to
00:43:39start getting some wins
00:43:40I expect Villa to kick on now
00:43:42what about Burnley
00:43:43no points away
00:43:45or no one away
00:43:45from home just yet
00:43:46we always know
00:43:48that promoted sides
00:43:48are going to rely heavily
00:43:49on their home form
00:43:50so is the away form
00:43:51a concern?
00:43:53a little bit
00:43:53but they have had
00:43:53some tough games
00:43:54I think what's pleasing
00:43:55for Scott
00:43:56is the fact that
00:43:57Scott Parker
00:43:58is that they've been
00:43:58in a lot of the games
00:43:59I think at Man United
00:44:00they lost in the last minute
00:44:01they've had late goals
00:44:03conceded in different games
00:44:04they're more competitive
00:44:06than I think most people
00:44:07thought they were going to be
00:44:08they've just got to learn
00:44:08fast though
00:44:09you know with what
00:44:10Scott Parker said
00:44:10at the end
00:44:11you can be in the game
00:44:12all you want
00:44:13you can feel like
00:44:13you're comfortable
00:44:14in the Premier League
00:44:14and then bang
00:44:15it bites you
00:44:15just those concentrations
00:44:17or that concentration
00:44:18in those moments
00:44:19now Brentford
00:44:21enjoyed their best win
00:44:22of the Keith Andrews era
00:44:24last weekend
00:44:24against Manchester United
00:44:26so next up
00:44:27the visit of Manchester City
00:44:29commentary comes
00:44:29from Steve Wilson
00:44:30a City win would be
00:44:35Pep Guardiola's 250th victory
00:44:37in the Premier League
00:44:38a landmark reached comfortably
00:44:40in record time
00:44:42Keith Andrews makes one change
00:44:44for Brentford
00:44:45that's Ayer in for Watara
00:44:46so he's reverting to the back five
00:44:49which served him well here
00:44:50against Chelsea
00:44:51City make three changes
00:44:54to the side
00:44:54which drew in Monaco
00:44:55in midweek
00:44:56Stones, Bernardo, Silva and Doku
00:44:58replaced by Matthias Nunez
00:45:01Savino and Bob
00:45:03and there will now be silence
00:45:06at Brentford
00:45:06for Chris Ramsey
00:45:07the club's head
00:45:08of academy goalkeeping
00:45:09who passed away
00:45:10on Wednesday
00:45:11aged only 39
00:45:12he will be sadly missed here
00:45:15and also for the victims
00:45:16of the synagogue attack
00:45:18in Manchester
00:45:19the message
00:45:20on City armbands
00:45:22today
00:45:22and on armbands
00:45:23for United
00:45:24yesterday
00:45:25is
00:45:26a City United
00:45:27it's been a
00:45:45very respectable start
00:45:47to his time
00:45:48in charge of Brentford
00:45:49for Keith Andrews
00:45:50very good here
00:45:52they haven't actually
00:45:53taken any points away
00:45:54from here yet
00:45:55this season
00:45:55Harland
00:45:58got in behind
00:45:58Vandenberg
00:45:59they're in trouble here
00:46:00it's 1-0
00:46:01Erling Harland
00:46:04for Manchester City
00:46:05well he wasn't
00:46:07going to miss that
00:46:07not him
00:46:08not Harland
00:46:09not in a month
00:46:10of Sundays
00:46:11just out muscled
00:46:13Vandenberg really
00:46:14who got himself
00:46:15the wrong side
00:46:16and once
00:46:17Erling Harland
00:46:18had got half a metre
00:46:20away from Vandenberg
00:46:21there was only
00:46:22one likely outcome
00:46:23a powerful
00:46:24a powerful
00:46:24and precise finish
00:46:25exactly
00:46:26as you would expect
00:46:27continues his run
00:46:29of having scored
00:46:30in every
00:46:30Manchester City
00:46:32away game
00:46:32in which he's played
00:46:33this season
00:46:3412th of the season
00:46:37Manchester City
00:46:40are going to be
00:46:41forced into a change
00:46:42here
00:46:42this
00:46:44is not good news
00:46:46this is a
00:46:47serious
00:46:48blot on the
00:46:49landscape for
00:46:49Manchester City
00:46:50because clearly
00:46:51Rodri is not
00:46:53going to be able
00:46:53to continue
00:46:54don't need me
00:46:55to tell you
00:46:56how much
00:46:57missing Rodri
00:46:57affected them
00:46:58last season
00:46:59people talk about
00:47:01his lack of
00:47:02experience
00:47:02Keith Andrews
00:47:03but he was
00:47:04the assistant
00:47:04manager
00:47:04at the Republic
00:47:05of Ireland
00:47:05and also
00:47:07at Sheffield
00:47:07United
00:47:08before moving
00:47:09to Brentford
00:47:09as set-piece
00:47:10coach
00:47:10Savino
00:47:15for O'Reilly
00:47:16and Reinders
00:47:18arriving
00:47:18really good
00:47:19stop
00:47:19very good
00:47:21save that
00:47:21good effort
00:47:23too by Reinders
00:47:24because that
00:47:24was an
00:47:25awkward one
00:47:26for him
00:47:26when he
00:47:26controlled it
00:47:27beautifully
00:47:28well
00:47:35Hickey's
00:47:36beaten to
00:47:36that
00:47:36Brentford
00:47:38are claiming
00:47:38a foul
00:47:39but I don't
00:47:39think it
00:47:39was for
00:47:40and Oscar
00:47:40Bob
00:47:40wriggling
00:47:41nicely
00:47:42away
00:47:42from
00:47:42Collins
00:47:43no penalty
00:47:44says Darren
00:47:45England
00:47:45and Oscar
00:47:46Bob
00:47:46didn't
00:47:47easily
00:47:47appeal
00:47:48maybe had
00:47:48a glance
00:47:49in the
00:47:49referee's
00:47:50direction
00:47:50and then
00:47:50got on
00:47:51with it
00:47:51Shada
00:47:52and here
00:47:53is
00:47:54a great
00:47:55chance
00:47:55it's a
00:47:57brilliant
00:47:57save by
00:47:57Donnarumma
00:47:58Igor
00:47:59Thiago
00:47:59was away
00:48:00suddenly
00:48:01Brentford
00:48:01were saying
00:48:02that Shada
00:48:02had been
00:48:03fouled
00:48:03and suddenly
00:48:04Igor
00:48:05Thiago
00:48:05was off
00:48:05and running
00:48:06but suddenly
00:48:09he's away
00:48:09five goals
00:48:10this season
00:48:10Igor
00:48:11Thiago
00:48:11but he
00:48:11never really
00:48:12threatened
00:48:13to get
00:48:14around
00:48:14Donnarumma
00:48:15here
00:48:15well it
00:48:17is by a
00:48:17long
00:48:17long
00:48:18way
00:48:18Brentford's
00:48:19best chance
00:48:20of the
00:48:20game
00:48:20and by a
00:48:21long
00:48:21long
00:48:21way
00:48:21he
00:48:22didn't
00:48:22make
00:48:22the
00:48:22most
00:48:22of it
00:48:23City
00:48:25have had
00:48:25a little
00:48:25habit
00:48:26recently
00:48:26of conceding
00:48:27late goals
00:48:27Monaco
00:48:28the most
00:48:28recent
00:48:28example
00:48:29of course
00:48:29they'll hope
00:48:31that by the
00:48:31time we get
00:48:32to the latter
00:48:32stages of
00:48:33this game
00:48:33they're not
00:48:34still just
00:48:35one goal
00:48:35to the good
00:48:36it's a good
00:48:38ball
00:48:38lofted into
00:48:39Shada
00:48:39Ruben Diaz
00:48:40getting across
00:48:41and headed
00:48:43up and over
00:48:43the bar
00:48:44by Coyote
00:48:45very seldom
00:48:48so far
00:48:49in this game
00:48:49if he felt
00:48:50that Brentford
00:48:50are likely
00:48:51to score
00:48:51a goal
00:48:51just beginning
00:48:53to show
00:48:54their teeth
00:48:55a little
00:48:55one direction
00:49:00first half
00:49:00bit more
00:49:01even since
00:49:01the break
00:49:02Mathias
00:49:05Nunez
00:49:06Silva
00:49:12complaining
00:49:12had no
00:49:13real options
00:49:14on ahead
00:49:15of him
00:49:15he had
00:49:15to go
00:49:15back
00:49:16Nunez
00:49:17to
00:49:17Donnarumma
00:49:18straight
00:49:24down to
00:49:24Shada
00:49:24and out
00:49:25of play
00:49:25and it's
00:49:28a corner
00:49:29well this is
00:49:31interesting
00:49:31rebounded back
00:49:32on to the
00:49:33Italian
00:49:34who by many
00:49:36people's measure
00:49:37is the best
00:49:37goalkeeper in the
00:49:38world
00:49:38minimum of
00:49:45four added
00:49:46minutes
00:49:47and Donnarumma
00:49:50comes and gets
00:49:51a big right
00:49:52glove on it
00:49:52Brentford have
00:49:54another throw
00:49:54in and it's
00:49:55in Coyote
00:49:57range
00:49:57so we're
00:50:07into the
00:50:08four added
00:50:08in it goes
00:50:09from Coyote
00:50:10up go the
00:50:11heads
00:50:11my four to
00:50:13Janelt
00:50:13it didn't
00:50:14quite
00:50:14it's
00:50:14Shada
00:50:14and Hickey
00:50:16Hickey's
00:50:18shot was way
00:50:18over the bar
00:50:19there was no
00:50:20deflection there
00:50:21a few shots
00:50:22for handball
00:50:23I think
00:50:23it's
00:50:24just to be
00:50:25a natural
00:50:26position for
00:50:26Guardiola
00:50:27which he
00:50:27clearly was
00:50:29and Pep Guardiola
00:50:31has his
00:50:32250th
00:50:33Premier League
00:50:34victory
00:50:34as Manchester
00:50:36City manager
00:50:37Brentford
00:50:370
00:50:38City 1
00:50:39many things
00:50:41I like it
00:50:42I know
00:50:43that
00:50:43there are
00:50:45things that
00:50:45can do
00:50:45better
00:50:46but
00:50:47I make a
00:50:49fantastic
00:50:49first half
00:50:50one of the
00:50:51best
00:50:51since many
00:50:52many months
00:50:52and
00:50:53the problem
00:50:54is in
00:50:54Premier League
00:50:54we're going to
00:50:55score the
00:50:55second and
00:50:55the third
00:50:56always can
00:50:56happen
00:50:56that
00:50:57they push
00:50:57more
00:50:57and
00:50:58yeah
00:50:58we are
00:50:58there
00:50:59and
00:50:59especially
00:50:59our game
00:51:00is better
00:51:00and better
00:51:00and better
00:51:01You've scored
00:51:01a dozen goals
00:51:02now this season
00:51:03I'm wondering
00:51:04where I'd need
00:51:04to put my money
00:51:05Harry Kane
00:51:05or Erling Haaland
00:51:06for the European
00:51:07Golden Boot
00:51:08could be a few
00:51:09others involved
00:51:10but you're both
00:51:11off to a good start
00:51:11Don't forget
00:51:12Kylian as well
00:51:13he had a great
00:51:14start as well
00:51:14so they're doing
00:51:16amazing so I need
00:51:17to try to keep up
00:51:18I felt second half
00:51:19we were a better team
00:51:20I think when you
00:51:21look at the 90 minutes
00:51:22one team scored
00:51:24a very good chance
00:51:25that they had
00:51:26we didn't take ours
00:51:27from the second half
00:51:28we grew in confidence
00:51:29and I felt we made it
00:51:31the type of game
00:51:31that we wanted it to be
00:51:32That one big chance
00:51:34that they had
00:51:35when Igor Thiago is away
00:51:36as a centre forward
00:51:37you're one-on-one
00:51:38with Donnarummi
00:51:39is it a little bit different
00:51:40from being one-on-one
00:51:41with somebody else?
00:51:42Yeah, definitely
00:51:43and he's so big
00:51:45and he's the best
00:51:47keeper in the world
00:51:47he just got the trophy
00:51:49at the Ballon d'Or
00:51:50so knowing that
00:51:52you're against
00:51:53the biggest keeper
00:51:55in the world
00:51:55is of course motivation
00:51:56but it's also
00:51:57a more difficult task
00:51:58Even as the best
00:52:00keeper in the world
00:52:01it wasn't necessarily
00:52:02a brilliant performance
00:52:03for him
00:52:04there wasn't that much
00:52:04required for him
00:52:05in this game today
00:52:06but does he bring
00:52:08a presence
00:52:09to Manchester City
00:52:10in goal?
00:52:12Yeah, I think he does
00:52:13We've just looked
00:52:13at Erling Haaland
00:52:14and you look at him
00:52:14in front of goal now
00:52:15and he's just got that aura
00:52:16he looks like
00:52:17he's going to score
00:52:18I think Donnarummi
00:52:19has started so well
00:52:20for Manchester City
00:52:20and as Erling touched on there
00:52:22he's definitely got that aura
00:52:23through one-on-one
00:52:24with Igor Thiago here
00:52:26as soon as Gvardiel
00:52:27who barely put a foot wrong
00:52:28today by the way
00:52:29went through
00:52:29he gave it up
00:52:30I just thought
00:52:31there's no way he's scoring
00:52:32there's no way
00:52:33he's getting that out of his feet
00:52:34and getting it past him
00:52:35now a really important message here
00:52:36for any defenders back at home
00:52:38is Nico O'Reilly
00:52:39he could quite easily
00:52:41give that up
00:52:41trot back
00:52:42but no
00:52:42he's going to put the pressure on
00:52:43he's going to heap
00:52:44all the pressure on Igor Thiago
00:52:46running through
00:52:48with Donnarummi
00:52:48as Erling said
00:52:50massive person to beat
00:52:52now this is the moment
00:52:53he's readjusted
00:52:54this is the moment
00:52:55he knows he's got him
00:52:56he just can't quite
00:52:57get it under control
00:52:58can't get out of his feet
00:52:59he's got that pressure
00:53:00from O'Reilly
00:53:01coming behind him
00:53:02and as we roll it on here
00:53:04he knows he's only got
00:53:06two options
00:53:07and those options are
00:53:08to go round to Donnarummi's right
00:53:09as O'Reilly cuts off his left
00:53:11or to dink it over him
00:53:12and he just needs to
00:53:13press the gap
00:53:14get to the gap
00:53:15get up to him
00:53:16stand big and strong
00:53:17there it is
00:53:18can't get round him
00:53:19looks like a relatively
00:53:20simple save in the end
00:53:21is that because
00:53:23of Donnarummi's standards
00:53:25that it looks like
00:53:26a simple save
00:53:27does he make it
00:53:27a simple save
00:53:28well I think so
00:53:29like I say
00:53:29he smelt blood
00:53:30when Thiago
00:53:31couldn't quite get it
00:53:32under control
00:53:33so calm
00:53:34look at his face
00:53:34there's no rush
00:53:35there's no grimace
00:53:36I know exactly
00:53:37what I need to do
00:53:38stand big and strong
00:53:38move on
00:53:40one save
00:53:40one nil
00:53:41up the road
00:53:41so he has the aura
00:53:43in goal
00:53:44Erling Haaland
00:53:45has the aura
00:53:45up front
00:53:46for Manchester City
00:53:47farming aura points
00:53:49in terms of
00:53:49I'm sorry
00:53:50I've lost you
00:53:51on that one
00:53:51it's a modern reference
00:53:52but he's got the aura
00:53:54up front
00:53:55for Manchester City
00:53:56the form that he's in
00:53:58this season
00:53:59only two times
00:54:01has someone been
00:54:02in better form
00:54:03at the start of the season
00:54:04and both times
00:54:06it was Erling Haaland
00:54:07so he's only been
00:54:09beaten by himself
00:54:09so with him in this form
00:54:12how big a title challenge
00:54:14do Manchester City mount?
00:54:16Well I think I
00:54:17and many others felt
00:54:17after season's difficulties
00:54:19last season
00:54:20that they wouldn't be
00:54:22in the title race
00:54:23if he's playing
00:54:24with this hunger
00:54:25and he stays
00:54:26this fit
00:54:27he puts them
00:54:28back in it
00:54:29even if they are
00:54:30a bit easier
00:54:30to play against
00:54:31because
00:54:32he is unplayable
00:54:33at times
00:54:34when he's got
00:54:34this determination
00:54:35he's so strong
00:54:37but then he finds
00:54:38this calmness
00:54:39when he's in those
00:54:40positions
00:54:40he's got great feet
00:54:41he gets the ball
00:54:43into really perfect
00:54:44positions for him
00:54:45to finish
00:54:46and
00:54:46sometimes you see
00:54:48when he's up against
00:54:49really good quality
00:54:50that they can't cope
00:54:51with that physical
00:54:51presence
00:54:52he's got to get him
00:54:53keep getting in the ball
00:54:53but at this rate
00:54:55he's going to
00:54:57hit ridiculous numbers
00:54:58again
00:54:58isn't it amazing
00:55:00he's got a bit to do
00:55:01to match his own numbers
00:55:02so it just shows you
00:55:03where he's at
00:55:03I think he's playing
00:55:06he looks as rounded
00:55:08as he ever has
00:55:09in a Manchester
00:55:10when I say rounded
00:55:10I mean all aspects
00:55:11of his game
00:55:12the link up
00:55:13the reliability
00:55:14the goals
00:55:15the running power
00:55:16he's just a sight
00:55:18to behold at the moment
00:55:19and the other person
00:55:21around him
00:55:21who's hitting
00:55:22all kinds of
00:55:23unprecedented numbers
00:55:24is Pep Guardiola
00:55:25again we get used to him
00:55:27and we get used to
00:55:28the standards
00:55:28that he's set
00:55:29but he's reached
00:55:30250 Premier League wins
00:55:32in 349 games
00:55:33which is faster
00:55:34than any other
00:55:35Premier League manager
00:55:36yeah look at these numbers
00:55:38look at the speed
00:55:39that he's done it
00:55:39you know look at the
00:55:40company he's in
00:55:41that's for Alex Ferguson
00:55:42Arsene Wenger
00:55:42David Moyes
00:55:43and do you know
00:55:44with those 250 PL wins
00:55:46he's got six titles
00:55:47as well
00:55:47absolutely incredible
00:55:49incredible from him
00:55:50as always
00:55:51now after an impressive
00:55:52win at Chelsea
00:55:53last weekend
00:55:54Brighton were on
00:55:55the road again
00:55:56at Wolves
00:55:57who are yet to register
00:55:58a point at home
00:55:59so far this season
00:56:00Mark Scott
00:56:01was at Molyneux
00:56:02for this one
00:56:02Wolves got their first
00:56:05point on the board
00:56:06at Spurs last weekend
00:56:07but Vitor Pereira
00:56:09felt they deserved
00:56:10three
00:56:10and his only change
00:56:12to the team
00:56:13is an enforced one
00:56:14with the injured
00:56:15Matt Doherty
00:56:16replaced by
00:56:17Jackson Chachoa
00:56:18Brighton have won
00:56:19the last four
00:56:20Premier League meetings
00:56:21at Molyneux
00:56:21they bring in
00:56:22Welbeck, Gruda
00:56:23and Vifa
00:56:24with Veltman
00:56:25and Matoma
00:56:25both out injured
00:56:26and Ruda
00:56:27moving to the bench
00:56:28Welbeck scored
00:56:30in both of last
00:56:31season's games
00:56:32between the sides
00:56:33Brighton are
00:56:36unbeaten
00:56:37in the last
00:56:37seven
00:56:38Premier League
00:56:38meetings
00:56:38between the teams
00:56:40and with 2-0
00:56:41winners
00:56:41here
00:56:42in May
00:56:43room for
00:56:46Kadioglu here
00:56:46Welbeck one way
00:56:50Minte the other
00:56:51he's allowed to
00:56:51carry a long way
00:56:52Kadioglu
00:56:52now Minte
00:56:53and Kadioglu
00:56:54with the
00:56:55perhaps inadvertent
00:56:57touch there
00:56:57that took it
00:56:58out of the path
00:56:59of one of his
00:57:00teammates
00:57:00this is not good
00:57:01enough from Wolves
00:57:02though
00:57:02backtracking
00:57:03and allowing
00:57:04Brighton to get
00:57:05into the area
00:57:05far too easily
00:57:06no foul
00:57:13and Brighton
00:57:14could be in
00:57:14business here
00:57:15Minte
00:57:17has gone a long
00:57:18way
00:57:19and has then
00:57:19let himself
00:57:20down with the
00:57:20pass
00:57:21the Wolves
00:57:22team with
00:57:23Jared Gillette
00:57:24for not whistling
00:57:25when the challenge
00:57:26came in
00:57:26Santiago
00:57:30Bueno
00:57:31Juan
00:57:33oh that's
00:57:39a bit naughty
00:57:40for him
00:57:40Belieber
00:57:40and the yellow
00:57:42cards coming out
00:57:43from Jared
00:57:44Gillette
00:57:44don't think
00:57:45that he can
00:57:46really moan
00:57:46about that
00:57:47absolutely
00:57:50crunched
00:57:52into the
00:57:53challenge
00:57:53oh and
00:57:54Vizel
00:57:54Pereira
00:57:54has been
00:57:56sent off
00:57:56here
00:57:57well he
00:58:00was unhappy
00:58:00with the
00:58:01earlier move
00:58:03from Brighton
00:58:03when they felt
00:58:05there was a
00:58:05foul
00:58:05and Brighton
00:58:06was suddenly
00:58:06away
00:58:07Vito Pereira
00:58:08you can see
00:58:09at the bottom
00:58:09of your screen
00:58:10there
00:58:10immediately
00:58:11apologising
00:58:12after kicking
00:58:13something
00:58:13towards where
00:58:14the officials
00:58:15are
00:58:15and now
00:58:16he will have to
00:58:17watch the rest
00:58:17of the game
00:58:18from the stands
00:58:19irresponsible behaviour
00:58:21in the technical
00:58:22area
00:58:23is the
00:58:23official
00:58:24line for it
00:58:26he's lost
00:58:27his rag
00:58:28is the more
00:58:28common parlance
00:58:30Marius delivers
00:58:31and not
00:58:34cleared
00:58:34oh what a
00:58:35crazy
00:58:35off for
00:58:37Brigham
00:58:37for an
00:58:38own goal
00:58:38and Wolves
00:58:39in front
00:58:40Peter
00:58:43Pereira
00:58:44might not
00:58:44have seen
00:58:44it
00:58:45as he was
00:58:46making his
00:58:47way from
00:58:47the dugout
00:58:48to the
00:58:48stands
00:58:48maybe
00:58:51just the
00:58:51slice
00:58:52of luck
00:58:52that
00:58:53Wolverhampton
00:58:54Wanderers
00:58:55need
00:58:55to get
00:58:56their first
00:58:56win
00:58:57under their
00:58:58belts
00:58:58Brighton
00:59:00don't deal
00:59:00with the
00:59:01initial ball
00:59:01it's a
00:59:02poor header

01:04:05positive
01:04:06to take
01:04:06away
01:04:06and of course we can't be happy with the result but we have to keep pushing
01:04:08Wolves made changes defensively throughout the game did that cost them in the end do you think
01:04:13yeah I think so they ended up sitting deep they started really well they started in a four and they look really positive you know they had a good performance at Tottenham last week and as we see them lining up here when they do line up with the four they are able to get on the front foot nice and congested through the middle making it difficult for Brighton to play
01:04:30they look like they're ready to pounce they're high up the pitch always looking for an opportunity can they turn it over and Brighton need to be perfect and they managed to turn it over in this circumstance but there's always bodies around the ball
01:04:42seeing clip here that four taking that run runs trying to get through turning it over early and they're able to get on the front foot again
01:04:52and Molyneux acts best when Wolves are on the front foot creating chances Huang crossing doesn't come to anything here now I mentioned Huang before this is the second one
01:05:00second half this is a big moment in the game because this is what prompts the change
01:05:05I've got Bueno playing at right back Rutter and Gruder have decided to double up on him
01:05:09and as the clip just unfolds drops to Rutter incredible save from Sam Johnston straight away
01:05:17Pereira wherever he is in the stadium he said get Agbedou on get Huang and he's saying are we playing a three mister
01:05:22absolutely not this is a five we're trying to get the one nil win today
01:05:26and there's nothing wrong with that in the Premier League if you believe in your system and you believe
01:05:30in your players all right you don't you're not able to get bodies out but you're going to say you know
01:05:34we're having a tough run we need to get the win we dig in you put big challenges like that
01:05:39now this is what you can't have this is at the end of the game
01:05:44Chachoa communicating with Sam Johnston and straight away he's Sam Johnston you can see he's not happy
01:05:49could have avoided that but you need to switch on if you're going to play a five not a problem but get
01:05:54switched on fair play at Brighton that was their one opportunity great header don't know who scored
01:05:59it Van Hecker's going to get the praise but Sam Johnston's showing that the Premier League you can
01:06:04be as defensive as you want if you switch off for one second you'll get found out and again it cost
01:06:10Wolves a couple of points in in this run of form that they're in in which they've only got two points
01:06:14so far in the in the Premier League when you look at how they started last season under under Gary O'Neill
01:06:20that led to him losing his job it's not far off where they're where they are at the moment they've
01:06:26got big games coming up particularly against Sunderland and Burnley and and then they've got
01:06:29then they've got Fulham away but there's a chance potentially for them to get their first win they
01:06:34will hope they'll have to it's been a disappointing start I think the last two weeks the last two
01:06:38performances sorry in the last week have been much better they've had a lot of new players
01:06:43um I actually think today he did the right thing actually because if he'd have gone toe for toe
01:06:48with Brian for the remainder of that second half they could have ended up losing the game I know
01:06:52sometimes fans get a bit pessimistic regarding teams dropping off and defending but what you
01:06:56haven't won for so long yeah it didn't work out but I understood why well if you've missed any of
01:07:02the action this weekend both match of the days are available on the iPlayer along with individual

01:08:01Semenya coming in
01:08:03his wonderful star continues
01:08:05the big gap where the left back used to be
01:08:11that's Matty's tail
01:08:12oh there was a gap
01:08:13and he found it
01:08:14Bogle
01:08:17that's a good ball
01:08:18it was just behind Calvert-Lewin
01:08:19it's a good strike for Aronson

01:08:50and it's Shesko
01:08:51and it's in for that

01:08:52and the long throw
01:08:55reeks the dividends
01:08:57Kaiseido getting away from Alexis McAllister
01:09:04and in behind that Liverpool back line
01:09:06and what a goal that is
01:09:08oh that's an absolute beauty from Kaiseido
01:09:11flip of Kukurela
01:09:18and Gampo scores for Liverpool
01:09:19somewhat against the run of play
01:09:22but Liverpool are level

01:09:54Saka
01:09:57it's 2-0
01:09:59as routine a win as you're going to get
01:10:01victory for Arsenal
01:10:06in Mikel Arteta's
01:10:07300th game
01:10:08in charge of them
01:10:10and when you look at the comparison
01:10:12with the other managers
01:10:13who are around him
01:10:14the difference
01:10:16between Mikel Arteta
01:10:18and the managers
01:10:19who are above him
01:10:20is very obvious
01:10:21and that's in winning
01:10:22major trophies
01:10:23with the club
01:10:25Danny
01:10:26is this
01:10:26the season
01:10:27given the start
01:10:28that Arsenal have made
01:10:30they're one point clear
01:10:31as we head into the international break
01:10:32I think he's got
01:10:34the best
01:10:35toolkit he's ever had
01:10:37in terms of
01:10:38depth
01:10:38quality
01:10:39in all areas of the pitch
01:10:41they're not concerned now
01:10:42as much defensively
01:10:43with the two centre halves
01:10:44they've brought in
01:10:45so much talent
01:10:47in attacking areas
01:10:48they've had injuries already
01:10:50and there's been no problem
01:10:52they look strong
01:10:53they look organised
01:10:54they look full of confidence
01:10:56I don't see
01:10:59what excuse they could have
01:11:01for not winning it this time
01:11:02he's got a hell of a chance
01:11:05and they've got to find a way
01:11:06getting over the line
01:11:07otherwise of course
01:11:08the questions will be asked
01:11:09but
01:11:09yeah
01:11:10it's a hell of a squad
01:11:11and
01:11:11they're going to be up there
01:11:13for sure
01:11:13the trophy that they've won
01:11:15is the FA Cup
01:11:15in a partial season
01:11:16in which Mikel Arteta
01:11:17was in charge
01:11:18they've come close
01:11:19so many times
01:11:20as Danny was saying
01:11:21in the Premier League
01:11:22and the phrase
01:11:23winning mentality
01:11:24is one that's
01:11:25overused
01:11:26and probably
01:11:26misunderstood
01:11:28how close
01:11:29can you get
01:11:30to describing
01:11:30what that is
01:11:31Joe
01:11:31in terms of
01:11:32winning a Premier League title
01:11:33it's
01:11:34well
01:11:35it's one of those
01:11:36if you could bottle it
01:11:36and sell it
01:11:37it would be worth
01:11:37you know
01:11:39well
01:11:39it would be priceless
01:11:40at least
01:11:41it would be priceless
01:11:41but he's put himself
01:11:43in a position
01:11:43I look at him
01:11:44and obviously
01:11:44this is his first job
01:11:46so it's an incredible effort
01:11:47to do what he's doing
01:11:48but for him to be in that company
01:11:49and be
01:11:49you know
01:11:50sat at the top table
01:11:51he has to follow it up
01:11:52what is that recipe
01:11:53really really difficult
01:11:55it's the hard work
01:11:55it's the dedication
01:11:56he's proven that
01:11:57he's got new ideas
01:11:58Danny talked about
01:11:59the squad that he's assembled
01:12:00but you've got to get over the line
01:12:02and it's in those
01:12:02kind of dark days
01:12:03those dark months
01:12:04those kind of Januaries
01:12:05Februaries
01:12:06those little wins
01:12:07you've got to graft
01:12:08and here is
01:12:10the Premier League table
01:12:11here's how it's shaping up
