00:00Oh my god! Oh, look at that!
00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:05Rudy O'Hall!
00:08Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:30MUSIC PLAYS
00:50Evening, three games on Match of the Day for you tonight,
00:53including both North East clubs in action
00:55and Arsenal taking on Manchester City.
00:57Shea Given and Theo Walcott are with us
01:00and we'll start in North London,
01:02where Manchester City have lost their last two league visits to Arsenal.
01:06Your commentator is Mark Scott.
01:10It might be too early to be decisive in the title fight,
01:14but it might well be tasty given the needling games between them last season,
01:18which saw Arsenal move the needle.
01:21It's now two wins and two draws in the league against Manchester City,
01:25having lost all of the previous 12.
01:29William Saliba's back for Arsenal for the first time since injuring his ankle at Liverpool last month.
01:34Christian Mosquera, who's impressed in the Frenchman's absence, makes way,
01:39while Leandro Trossard's reward for scoring from the bench in Bilbao
01:42is a start at the expense of Ibera Eza.
01:45For only the third time as Manchester City manager,
01:49Pep Guardiola names the same side for the third game running.
01:53Erling Haaland scored in both meetings last season
01:55and broke another record in the week,
01:58becoming the fastest player to 50 Champions League goals,
02:02hitting his half-century in just 49 games.
02:05Accused of caginess in the loss at Liverpool,
02:11Mikel Arteta says his side are here to win today,
02:15and if they do, it will be Manchester City's worst start for 19 years.
02:23Haaland.
02:25He's worked that out of a tight spot,
02:26and Rennes is buccaneering forwards.
02:29Haaland one way, Doku the other,
02:30and it's Erling Haaland!
02:331-0 Manchester City!
02:36Absolutely lethal from Erling Haaland!
02:40And Arsenal, who have been watertight all season,
02:45were sliced apart by Manchester City on the counter-attack there.
02:50It was all a bit messy in midfield.
02:53Reinders carried and offloaded,
02:56and Haaland kept his call to roll beyond Ryer and in.
03:00Not the kind of goal you associate with Arsenal conceding,
03:06but it's certainly the type of finish
03:09that you associate with Erling Haaland.
03:13First goal that his side have conceded from open play all season.
03:21Marino.
03:22Oh, risky.
03:24Given away.
03:25Haaland.
03:26Bernardo Silva.
03:28Reinders!
03:30That is a massive let-off for Arsenal.
03:35Sloppy from Marino,
03:36who was ambushed by Reinders and Doku,
03:39and Arsenal lucky that the hit from Reinders lacked any punch.
03:43They only gave up two chances from open play in their last four games,
03:47but have allowed Manchester City two already today.
03:50Subramendi's curled that out to Calafiore.
03:54He showed too much of it to Foden.
03:57It will be Arsenal's throw, though.
04:04Calafiore hurls it in.
04:07Arsenal asking for a foul.
04:08Rice, good ball, Madweke.
04:12Not a great header.
04:19I don't think there's enough from Haaland there to merit any intervention from the VAR.
04:26This will look a bit clunky so far.
04:29And their XG at the moment is precisely zero.
04:35Marino.
04:38Rolled across to Calafiore.
04:41Subramendi on the overlap.
04:44His cross is decent.
04:45Jokeres was waiting.
04:46Madweke!
04:47Was hurried into the hit.
04:52Neatly constructed.
04:54Stood up nicely by Subramendi at the end of it.
04:57Jokeres putting on the pressure, which allowed it to fall to Madweke,
05:01and in fact, taken off his toes by Doku, I think.
05:08Going to have a minimum of four added minutes at the end of the half,
05:11which we're into now.
05:14Madweke.
05:16Nicely on for Timber.
05:17Room here for Marino.
05:22Which he's made the most of by finding Madweke.
05:25And his effort is cleared by Donnarumma.
05:30That is the best effort that Arsenal have mustered in the first half,
05:33and it comes in first half stoppage time.
05:40Trossard.
05:44Looking for Saka.
05:47Way from Doku.
05:50Stood it up while Jokeres was in there.
05:53And Subramendi...
05:54is furious with himself for not doing better.
05:59Not sure he got a piece of it.
06:07Now it's with Subramendi who can turn and go.
06:10Saka one way, he goes to Trossard instead.
06:14Trossard's cross.
06:17Clear the way for Ezzer to hit!
06:22Donnarumma fully behind it.
06:24Manchester City making a meal of clearing it though.
06:28Donnarumma comes out to tidy up eventually.
06:31Ezzer looking for his first Arsenal goal here.
06:36Plenty of venom on the hip, but it's too close for the Manchester City keeper.
06:41Already Arsenal look sharper up top after those half-time changes.
06:45As the lever goes to box him off.
06:51Doku sticks it through though for Erling Haaland.
06:54Looking for his second!
06:56Blocked by Raja, but then nearly into his own net.
06:59It's a pretty tame effort by Haaland's high standards.
07:06But it still nearly resulted in a second City goal.
07:10Ezzer in trying to tidy up, slapped it into Declan Rice.
07:14And it just about cleared the Arsenal crossbar.
07:25Rice striding forwards.
07:27Rolled into Ezzer.
07:28Timber quickly on for Saka.
07:32Timber getting up there and getting onto it.
07:35But not getting it in.
07:37Corner for Arsenal.
07:47In from Saka.
07:49It's a tricky one.
07:50Oh, and Trossard at the far stick.
07:53Nearly crashed it in.
07:55Here's Trossard again.
07:56And he picked out Erling Haaland of all people.
08:01Much, much better from Arsenal.
08:04Trossard at the far stick here.
08:06Trying to pop it back across goal.
08:09Got another opportunity to do so here.
08:11And it was actually Diaz who slid in to get a bit of a touch on it.
08:15It's that kind of day.
08:17It's that kind of day.
08:21Trossard.
08:22Zubimendi on for Timber.
08:29Short to Saka.
08:30Saka's cross.
08:33Saka's cross.
08:33Jokerez let it run for Calafiore who sent it over the top of the bar.
08:39Dinked in by Bakaio Saka.
08:42Clever from Jokerez to let it run but would have been some header from Calafiore to score from there.
08:49Manchester City fell apart in the last 20 minutes or so here last season but his side have the lead this time around.
08:57Gabriel's header.
09:01Gonzalez up there.
09:05Nico Gonzalez.
09:07It's a tidy pass.
09:10Doku.
09:14Jeremy Doku chasing this and he's in here.
09:17It's Doku!
09:20Nearly settled it for Manchester City.
09:27He's obviously happy with one of the officials.
09:32Craig Borson gets a peck.
09:36Arsenal toiling with time ticking.
09:45Rangers advancing.
09:48Still Rangers.
09:50Savinho for Nico Gonzalez.
09:53Calafiore let in.
09:54No foul.
09:55Arsenal continue.
09:58Manchester City fume.
09:59They felt that they should have had the whistle go their way.
10:05Eza.
10:06Useful.
10:08Martinelli.
10:10Oh!
10:11Magnificent from Martinelli to level it for Arsenal late on.
10:22The Emirates to rocks.
10:25Martinelli takes the adoration of the Arsenal fans.
10:29Eza had the vision here to spot the run of Martinelli who I think is just on side and just look at that for a finish.
10:41That is divine from Gabriel Martinelli to flick it over Donnarumma and in.
10:55Perfection from Martinelli to get Arsenal back on terms at the death.
11:02A supreme piece of skill and joy unconfined for Mikel Arteta.
11:09A supreme piece of skill and joy unconfined for Mikel Arteta.
11:09Jocares.
11:16On this even then between Pep Guardiola and his former assistant Mikel Arteta who is the first manager to go five successive league games unbeaten against Guardiola.
11:37But a point apiece and you feel the big winners and Liverpool.
11:43Arsenal won.
11:44Manchester City won.
11:49Mikel, a late goal to get the draw but overall do you think you deserve that at the very least?
11:53Yeah, at the very least.
11:54I'm so proud of all my players, of the team, the way we played, the way they dominated almost every aspect of the game.
12:01And the feeling is very disappointed not to win the game.
12:04You mentioned that you think that you dominated but do you think that you weren't quite at the same level we've seen you in other games this season, especially in the first half?
12:11No, I think we played better than last year when we beat them.
12:15Really?
12:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:16In a lot of things, much better, yes.
12:17Pep, obviously disappointment right at the end there but what did you think overall of the team's performance?
12:23Strong mentally.
12:24So, being there, it's difficult to play when our intention of high pressing is not effective because they are good and we are not effective as to how you have to defend deeper.
12:39But, yeah, last season we lost 5-1, today we draw.
12:43We were close, it's a little bit dead but we cannot be, I would say, unsatisfied and we cannot say it's not a further result.
12:50Can you talk me through that goal because it was a real moment of magic that you produced?
12:55Yeah, I mean, I saw Ebsar getting the ball, I just tried to make eye contact with him and once the ball was open I made the movement and, yeah, it was a great ball from him.
13:09I just tried to put it in the back of the net.
13:11If you are 1-0 up, like, yeah, like till extra time, you want to go home with the three points but, yeah, everybody knows playing here against Arsenal away, it's always difficult but, yeah, we have to keep going and keep working.
13:25Liverpool's gap now is getting bigger and bigger.
13:28Yeah, we cannot control that.
13:29They win every match, it's going to be very difficult but we have to do what we have to do and if we play at this level, what we've done against Manchester City, we'll be fine.
13:37Quite a lot to unpick there, even though it was a one-all draw, based on both teams' approaches really and the stats make interesting reading but the possession stat for Arsenal would indicate, Theo, that they dominated the game and even the touch in the opposition box and yet you didn't feel like Manchester City were under siege, did you?
14:01No, I mean, all the possession that Arsenal had, I've got to disagree with Mikata to say in the fact that they played better than last year, I mean, you won 5-1, I mean, you obviously get a result, you know, draw today in the last few minutes but for me, it was a completely lacklustre game for Arsenal in the first half particularly, it really was.
14:20It was not Arsenal we're used to and it was really a bit of a surprise, the line-up as well, it surprised a few people but you have all these options and there's an attack and threat and you don't utilise it.
14:30When you say the line-up surprises you, are you talking about that midfield balance? Are you talking about Eze being on the bench?
14:38Yeah, for me, when you sign a player like Eze, the game changers, we just call them, or however you want to call these guys, fans want to see these players play.
14:45They want to play these big games, they want to see people actually be able to take risks and I feel like in these games if you want to get results, you have to be able to take those risks and at some moment in time Arsenal aren't doing that.
14:55I was just disappointed in Eze's part actually not to actually play, to be honest, in the start of the line-up and I think obviously it changed in half-time, didn't they, in bringing them on.
15:02Okay, from a Manchester City point of view, just on the stats, the 32.8% possession that City had is the lowest figure that any Pep Guardiola team has recorded in any of his 601 top-flight matches.
15:17Was that need must because of the week they've had, because of players coming back from injury, because of the opposition?
15:25Probably a bit of everything. I think the 5-1 as well last year, I think that's probably fresh in Pep's mind as well.
15:31Arsenal are a strong force, they're one of the favourites for the title, maybe he's thought away from home if we get a point, it's a decent result.
15:37But I think Pep would be going up the road today disappointed, you know, to concede a 93rd-minute equaliser.
15:42Yes, they had possession, but I don't like this word dominated, Arteta mentioned it, Declan Rice mentioned it a couple of times in the interview after.
15:48I don't think he dominated possession, but my interpretation of domination is shots on goal, keeper making loads of save, blocks, hitting the post.
15:55He didn't do that, he didn't create that many chances.
15:57So they didn't dominate for you?
15:59Not in my opinion, no.
16:00Okay, right.
16:01They didn't dominate.
16:02No, I agree on that.
16:03Let's go back to that first half then, that you were talking about, and a lack of intensity.
16:10Why?
16:12Well, for me, obviously, Arsenal had a lot more time to prepare for this game.
16:16Because they played Tuesday, City played Thursday.
16:19And when I say lack of intensity, it was more the fact that these players were out of sync and the options weren't available to the likes of Saliba.
16:26In the past, obviously, Declan Rice would make a move, but there was no options, and the easy options to come outside and recycle the ball.
16:32But they were going along quite often to lead to nothing, and this was a general pattern.
16:39And the flow of Arsenal, the first touch, Jocheres, not quite happening for him today.
16:44Again, it was more than a fact, it was a bit sloppy.
16:47And Gabriel here, we're a bit calm in these circumstances.
16:51And again, it's just more the rhythm that was, I felt nervous today for Arsenal, watching them.
16:55The easy option here for Raya is to go out to Saliba and Rice, but when I talk about habits, they played like they didn't know each other today.
17:03That was the side of it, going long to Timber.
17:05It's not often that happens.
17:06Rice, calm on the ball, plenty of options.
17:09Again, he goes long to Madueke.
17:10How often do we see Madueke get the ball in this height?
17:13We never see this.
17:14So, for me, this was the difference in the first half.
17:18Little things like this, poor decision-making, you know, the energy wasn't there, and just the final pass here.
17:24When you look at the make the difference, this was disappointing for me when I'm talking about Dominic.
17:30For me, that wasn't in the first half.
17:32Does that partly come?
17:34I know I'm going back to the midfield thing, and Mikel Arteta was quite defensive about that afterwards.
17:38He said nobody criticised the midfield in Bilbao, and it was the same midfield.
17:42In the Premier League, Rice and Mourinho, when they've started together in midfield,
17:47they've only won one of the ten Premier League games that they've featured.
17:50Is it a defensive midfield that's the problem there?
17:54Well, I think there's a number of players that like to play that position.
17:58I think Mourinho isn't at number ten.
18:00I'd like to see maybe someone like Eze up there who's going to be a bit more creative.
18:03We've got some similar players, and when you have a number of players that are left-footed as well,
18:06Mourinho and Zubamendi are very similar in that sense.
18:09So, for me, at times, they get in each other's way, and I think the balance isn't right for me in that position.
18:14If you have Jokeres there as well, are they having to learn as a team how to go long to him?
18:20I think so.
18:20Look, he's a player who likes to go into space, but clearly there wasn't much space to go into today,
18:26and they're not playing to his strengths in the big games,
18:29when Arsenal actually have all the possession.
18:30I don't think it really actually gives Jokeres his main gifts.
18:35It's not about possession.
18:35He's more about a counter-attacking player for me.
18:37Let's do a positive, though.
18:39Yeah.
18:39So far, it's been, you know...
18:40I'm more positive than negative.
18:42You are, and look at the equalising goal from an Arsenal perspective.
18:47Yeah, for me, Mikel talks about game-changers, super-subs, finishers, however you want to say it,
18:53but Martino Le would have been disappointed, obviously not starting today,
18:57and I think in past times people whinge about that.
19:00But look, yeah, Albert Steubenberg just messaged to Mikel about,
19:05should we just change things up?
19:06And this was very, very different.
19:08You never tend to see Saka on the left-hand side when Martino Le went on the right-hand side.
19:13So it was a pattern that's not happened, and they just felt we need to probably change something,
19:16do something different.
19:17And then three minutes later, this happens.
19:18The connection, the eye contact that Eze and Martino Le were talking about,
19:22and the run is perfect, the timing, everything about the goal and the finish.
19:26Obviously, we can come on to the keeper shortly,
19:27but me, when you have in that position, there's only one finish you can do.
19:32And Martino Le is rewarded tonight with his patience and his attitude to come off the bench,
19:39because that says a lot about his character.
19:40You were saying, as well, that he's one of the few who will sort of run in behind.
19:46He's the only one. He's the only one.
19:47I couldn't name you another player that would do...
19:50Out of that group of attack.
19:51We'll be happy to not have the ball and make the runs to be those...
19:54You know, there's no one else in that team that does that in Arsenal for me.
19:57All right. Let's delve more into City's approach today, then.
20:01Well, I think the game plan was probably to give up possession,
20:04you know, sit in a relatively defensive shape.
20:07And when you have the players alike as Haaland and Reinders breaking from midfield,
20:10you've still got a chance of winning the game.
20:12I remember, you know, famous teams, Mike Mourinho in the past giving up possession,
20:15but they're still very dangerous from the break.
20:16This is the goal. I mean, this is phenomenal with Haaland.
20:19Keep an eye on Haaland here.
20:20I mean, it's a brilliant flick around the corner of the Reinders,
20:22but watch the pace.
20:23Him and Gabriel are equal at this point,
20:24and he just leaves them for dead.
20:26It's a fantastic pass from Reinders.
20:28And then again, can the big man finish?
20:30You know, two right, he can.
20:31First touch is good, and then his eyes are not open.
20:33I know he's a left footer, but just slots it away nicely.
20:35But again, that's from a sort of defensive shape.
20:37And this is the picture we've seen, Mark, most of the second half.
20:40Man City were really very deep.
20:42I mean, we don't see this that often.
20:43Even Haaland's in the back line there defending,
20:45you know, defending crosses, defending balls,
20:47and making Arsenal go wide, keeping it really, really compact.
20:50And this is not like a Pep Guardiola team at all.
20:52It's normally the opposition teams, I guess.
20:54And we've seen Arteta in the past when he's got a lead.
20:57He's getting everyone behind the ball like we see here in this picture.
20:59Everyone's behind the ball, defending the box.
21:01Of course, they don't have to score again.
21:03So keep it nice and solid.
21:04Have Arsenal got the answers?
21:06Can they break through the lines?
21:07Can they, you know, break us down, basically?
21:09It's a bit like we do in training, Theo, attack via defence.
21:12Can they get through the lines?
21:14Are they good enough to break down?
21:15And I don't think they were today.
21:16I really don't.
21:17I think they got lucky in the end with the goal.
21:19This is the goal.
21:21It came from a corner.
21:22And watch City here.
21:23Now, they'll be raging with us.
21:24They break away, I think, as Reinders, you know,
21:26Rodri, as Savino, and as Gonzalez, they break away.
21:31This is probably the first time they break away for the second half, really.
21:34They break out from the group.
21:35And look at the back line, the back four, the back five.
21:37Now, Pep's going mental at the sideline.
21:39What are you doing?
21:40It's the 93rd minute mark.
21:41And now they're in a bit of trouble.
21:42So keep an eye here now.
21:44Eze gets the ball.
21:45But Savino's only come on the 87th minute.
21:47For me, he's the most attacking player.
21:48Go and press Eze.
21:50He's just jogging.
21:50He's disinterested.
21:52There's no pressure on the ball.
21:53The back five have to drop.
21:54They don't.
21:55And then keep an eye on Donnarumma as well.
21:56I think he's in good position.
21:58His starting position is really good now.
21:59But this ball from Eze, in my opinion, is world class.
22:02So a goalkeeper, his job is decision making.
22:06For me, he makes the wrong decision.
22:07He stays in that position.
22:08If he drops off like we've just shown, drop off, drop off.
22:11I think Martinelli doesn't even take the shot on.
22:14There's another angle just coming out.
22:15Watch Donnarumma at the top of your picture.
22:17Brilliant ball from Eze.
22:17Don't get me wrong.
22:18Great touch from Martinelli.
22:19But if Donnarumma drops off when the first ball comes in,
22:22make that decision, the right one.
22:23I don't even think Martinelli takes the shot on.
22:25He might play the Goccares or whatever.
22:26But he makes up his mind, Donnarumma's position.
22:29It's a brilliant finish, but I think the goalkeeper helps him.
22:31So nine times out of ten, as soon as that ball goes over the top,
22:34you as a goalkeeper would retreat.
22:35We're deciding to come and sweep our keepers,
22:37we've seen many of the time, or drop off.
22:39You know, goalkeepers is much about making saves and stuff.
22:41But it's decision making.
22:42And for me, he made the wrong decision.
22:44Do you also take into account what Pep Guardiola spoke about afterwards,
22:48the week that they've had?
22:49They've had the Manchester derby on the Monday.
22:51They played Napoli on the Sunday.
22:53They played Napoli on the Thursday.
22:55Arsenal played on the Tuesday.
22:56So is there an element of tiredness for them?
23:00And the reverse of that is,
23:02he's picked the same starting line-up for all three of those games.
23:05So he could have rotated.
23:06Well, that's down to him, isn't it, as a manager?
23:07He could have rotated.
23:08I mean, there is an argument for two days extra rest for Arsenal,
23:11of course there is.
23:12But Napoli had, I think, ten men for about 70 minutes as well
23:14in the game on Thursday.
23:15So, I don't know.
23:17I just don't think City have hit the heights that we've known in the past,
23:20you know, possession-based football.
23:21And what I would just quickly comment,
23:22I think that comes from the goalkeepers.
23:23I think Donnarumma, for me, is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
23:26But Man City have to change how they play.
23:28Now, there was times today that the centre-half would normally go back
23:30to Donnarumma and keep the ball.
23:32But if they weren't, they were just sort of giving it back to Arsenal
23:34and sort of defending the box.
23:36So that's something they'll have to adjust at Man City as well.
23:39Is that a missed opportunity for Arsenal?
23:42Because Liverpool have started the season relentlessly.
23:44So, you're going to have to go toe-to-toe with them, aren't you,
23:47if you're going to be in a title race for Arsenal?
23:50I think, I don't see it as a missed opportunity.
23:52I really don't.
23:52Because I think this season Arsenal need to make up more draws.
23:56You know, I don't think they're going to draw as many.
23:58I think they're more likely to win those games that they drew last year.
24:01So, for me, it's probably a point gained in the end
24:03because it could have been lost.
24:04Could have easily been lost today.
24:07You?
24:08I was looking for your opinion.
24:10Looking at me there.
24:11You know, when I look at you, I expect you to talk.
24:13I think it's an opportunity missed from Arsenal.
24:17I really do.
24:18The home advantage.
24:18They'll have to go to the Etihad in the second half of the season
24:20and it'll be a different game.
24:21And I think it's an opportunity missed.
24:23A bit like the Liverpool game a couple of weeks ago
24:24when they went to the Anfield.
24:25They sat very defensive.
24:26I think they've got so many attacking options.
24:27And Eze, for me, is a miss not starting them today.
24:30OK.
24:31I prefer it when you dominate the conversation.
24:33Four games into the season and Aston Villa hadn't yet scored a league goal.
24:38They were at Sunderland along with Carden Oat.
24:40Aston Villa, seven goals and seven points down on this time last year.
24:47While Sunderland's seven points from the first four games
24:49is their joint best start in the Premier League.
24:52Two changes to their team today
24:54as Chris Rigg comes in for the injured Habib Diara
24:57and Enzo Le Fay returns from injury.
25:00He replaces Simon Odingra.
25:02For Villa, Boubacar Kamara is back
25:04and there's a start for Evan Gesson.
25:06Yuri Tielemans is out due to a calf strain
25:08picked up at Everton last weekend.
25:10Lamar Bogard drops to the bench.
25:13His fixture dedicated to cancer has no colours
25:16in support of the Bradley Lowry Foundation.
25:21Let's hope for goals today.
25:24Villa need to score.
25:25And the sooner the better.
25:28This is the first time that they've failed to score
25:30in their first four league games ever.
25:35Talbot.
25:37Support from Hulme and Rigg infield.
25:39Looking for Isidore.
25:41He's got his head to it, but too much on it.
25:46It would always have been a really difficult chance to convert.
25:49Pressure from behind.
25:51He just needed to get a glance on it if he could.
25:53Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott, new additions for Villa.
25:57Elliott, their only goal scorer this season.
25:59Netted at Brentford in the League Cup on Tuesday.
26:05Rodgers fouled.
26:06Threatened to take it quickly.
26:10Sunderland prevented that.
26:12And then Sam Barrett prevented it.
26:14Villa thought they were okay from that point.
26:16If they can get the right delivery into the box now, they'll be thankful in a moment.
26:25Cash focused on finding the right delivery.
26:29Alderetti got his head to it for Sunderland.
26:31Might be a chance now.
26:33Saved by Roofs twice.
26:35And the flag's up for offside.
26:40Brilliant goalkeeping regardless.
26:43There's a whole lot going on in there that VAR will be having a look at now.
26:48First one is Gesson.
26:49Great stop by Roofs and then when it bounces back to Watkins, Roofs in his way again and Watkins offside anyway.
27:01Hume.
27:03Rijnildo.
27:04Caught late by Matty Cash.
27:10There then seems to have been a reaction from Rijnildo.
27:13He's asking Matty Cash, why did you do that?
27:15Cash is presumably asking the same sort of thing.
27:19He is late in on Rijnildo and bundled him over.
27:23That's not necessary from Cash, but neither is that from Rijnildo.
27:27I can tell you who might be in more bother.
27:29That's Rijnildo because it's being checked for potential violent conduct here.
27:33And in fact, Sam Barrett's got the red card out.
27:37He hasn't waited for the review.
27:38He's decided all by himself that this reaction from Rijnildo is worthy of red.
27:44They won't find anything there to overturn.
27:47Seems that Sam Barrett had seen it perfectly, clearly enough himself.
27:51Rijnildo's gone and Sunderland are up against it.
27:55Regis Labris has to coolly, calmly work out what to do for the best in terms of a reshuffle.
28:03Ballard, under the box.
28:06Mings, out and away.
28:12The ten men giving it a bit of a go in pushing forward when they can.
28:16Muckiele hurls in.
28:24Didn't come to Alderete.
28:26Xhaka back out to Nordi Muckiele.
28:29Martinez, he hasn't got it fully.
28:32Cash hasn't got it away.
28:34Alderete!
28:36Martinez was beaten, but it wouldn't dip quickly enough.
28:40And this is a really impressive spell by up against it Sunderland.
28:48Mings took it out of his goalkeeper's hands in the first place there.
28:52And Alvarete inches away.
28:59McGinn.
28:59Rogers loses the race with Hulme and took a clattering for his trouble.
29:17It's an all-or-nothing challenge from Trey Hulme.
29:19Gets a little swish of the ball because Rogers played it onto his toe end, but that was a little bit wild for the full-back.
29:28There's Cash.
29:29Oh, and Cash has scored!
29:31He's absolutely hammered that, and it was too hot for Roofs to handle.
29:35All the Sunderland keeper could do was push it into the top of the net himself.
29:42And Cash hit the jackpot.
29:46Straight down the middle, but it's the speed and the vicious swerve that did for Roofs.
29:52He just wasn't expecting it to come like it did.
29:55Sunderland nil, Aston Villa won.
29:58Villa's first Premier League goal of the season.
30:05Sunderland.
30:07The hunters are packed now.
30:08Might just leave a gap or two at the back.
30:10Here they go, Villa.
30:11It's Doniel Marlon showing really good pace.
30:14Mucchielli back at him.
30:16And Marlon left sprawling.
30:19Villa think he's been fouled.
30:22The verdict from VAR has already come.
30:25He just stumbles into the goalkeeper, their words.
30:29So that's been deemed shoulder to shoulder from Mucchielli.
30:32Looked through all the world there for a moment as though Marlon was going to effectively wrap this up.
30:41Taubi.
30:42Just got half a yard away from Cash.
30:44That's come off Kamara.
30:46Snapshot from Isidore.
30:47Didn't get far.
30:50Taubi.
30:52Might he have a go?
30:54He might.
30:54And Isidore has put it in.
31:09How an earth of Aston Villa allowed that to happen.
31:12He scores for the third home game in a row.
31:18Taubi deserves huge credit.
31:21Just grasping the metal.
31:23Having a run.
31:24Taking the shot on.
31:25And that's brilliant from Xhaka.
31:27Popping it up.
31:29Inviting Isidore to do what he can with it.
31:31And he held off Cash to equalize.
31:34Against all expectations.
31:37Ten-man Sunderland one.
31:39Aston Villa one.
31:45Sancho.
31:49Mattson makes the run.
31:50Takes Hulme with him.
31:53Ball into the box.
31:55Marlon couldn't get it down.
31:56Xhaka couldn't get it clear.
31:57And it's Elliott.
31:58And it's wide.
32:01Well, as Harvey Elliott hit this,
32:03I was fully expecting it to hit the back of the net a second later.
32:07Xhaka made it that little bit more difficult.
32:10And probably a good job Mukherjee was underneath it.
32:12Didn't get any sort of deflection.
32:17Tyrone Mings now.
32:22McGinn.
32:24Sancho.
32:25Really good cross.
32:26And it was missed by Watkins.
32:29That was it for Villa.
32:31And it came to the player they wanted to come to.
32:34It's a peach of a ball in this from Jadon Sancho.
32:38Have that only Watkins.
32:39Put that in and win the game.
32:41But he couldn't do it.
32:43We were in a good place.
32:45Then this red card came.
32:47And I think the team reacted really, really well.
32:50The game changed completely.
32:52Until the halftime was important to stay nil-nil.
32:55And during the halftime we decided on a new game plan.
32:59And we had to react in real time.
33:02And I think they did really well.
33:03We need to play better.
33:04We need to control better.
33:05We need to dominate better.
33:06We need to try to get our style and throw it to play.
33:10And then it's coming.
33:11The goals, it's coming.
33:12The assists, it's coming.
33:14More options to win matches.
33:16But now we are a little bit down in my expectation about how we are building the team.
33:22I'm disappointed.
33:23Obviously, it's always good to score and stuff.
33:25But for me, the most important thing is the team.
33:27Especially the position we're in.
33:29We're trying to find a win.
33:31And yeah, we just have to keep working hard and try and find it.
33:34Really happy to score again.
33:36Even if we did a win, we'll grab a point.
33:38And it seems all points are really important.
33:40Now in this league, they're for us more than anything.
33:43So happy to score.
33:44Happy to be able to play.
33:45It's kind of a real contrast in the body language of both camps there, isn't there?
33:49You know, one club very much in a good place.
33:51And the other one seemingly not in a very good place.
33:53We'll come on to both the sides in a moment.
33:55But just deal with the red card first of all.
33:57No complaints.
33:58No.
33:58I think it's a poor decision from Ronaldo.
34:01It's a poor tackle.
34:02Cash goes tight on him.
34:04And I think it's, you see it here.
34:05I mean, it's a reaction.
34:06I think he kicks him in the crown jewels, Mark.
34:08Can I get away with that?
34:10If you can't, you've said it anyhow.
34:13I mean, it's not that aggressive from Cash, if I'm being honest.
34:15But just his right foot just kicks him up in the private parts.
34:18And I think it's stupid, really, right in front of the bench.
34:21We know there's VAR involved as well.
34:23And to be fair, to Sam Barrett, he had no option, I think.
34:25But they sent him off as a straight red.
34:26And now he's put his team under severe pressure.
34:29That's only after half an hour as well.
34:31And yet, they still, after Ronaldo being sent off,
34:34they still played very well, did Sunderland.
34:38And their transfer policy this summer has been widely praised.
34:41Particularly the signing of Granit Xhaka, who's someone you know very well.
34:45And he led them today.
34:47Yeah, do you know, he's, it did surprise a lot of people when he joined Sunderland.
34:51But I feel if they want to break the pattern of staying in the league,
34:54I think he's a major factor for them to do this.
34:57I think, for me, it says all his leadership skills, the way he sets the behaviours, the patterns.
35:03The manager spoke about, you know, the game plan had to change.
35:07And he's a player that will be able to do that on the pitch because he leads by example.
35:11And for me, it's his passion and his hunger and just his bravery.
35:16He's always willing to make those challenges.
35:19And he's a player that's, at times, at Arsenal, you felt when he was higher up the field,
35:25you know, he's kind of wasted.
35:26And then he came back towards the CDM position.
35:30And there was a different side of him.
35:31He could make those passes, he could make those tackles and break it up.
35:33Because he was never the quickest player.
35:35But when he does find himself in the four positions as well,
35:38it's, like I said to before, he's an important scientist, the passion is in.
35:42It's these behaviours where he just sets the press, he sets the tone,
35:45and he sets the level of what he expects from his team.
35:48And this leads to him getting a shot away.
35:50But for me, the biggest praise I can give him is his passion and his hunger and his fight.
35:57And everyone feeds off that.
35:58And you can see it here, the bodies are flying in.
36:00And what I really like here is this.
36:05And this is what he brings to the team.
36:07He brings this to the team, playing with this man.
36:10But this goal, this is such a difficult skill.
36:13But it's like time slows down for him.
36:15And he cushions it.
36:17And that will be one of the best assists you'll see this year.
36:19That is such a good header.
36:21It really is. It's incredible.
36:22I think you take that for granted.
36:23That's an incredible goal.
36:25And I think he's going to be so important for someone to stay up this year.
36:28What's he like then?
36:29Because maybe at times at Arsenal, he was misunderstood by fans and media.
36:35Maybe me as well.
36:36Right.
36:36So what is he like?
36:38No, to be fair, he was always, you could always hear him.
36:41No matter where you were in the training ground, you could hear him speaking to someone.
36:45If it's with a member of staff, if it's with a younger player, if it's with an experienced player.
36:49And he was like that on day one.
36:50So for me, his experience is going to just set him alight here.
36:54That's for sure.
36:55And even when it wasn't going well for him, he never hid.
36:58No, he was not that player.
37:01Look, we talk about his discipline, the red cards and that side of it.
37:03He's experienced now.
37:04And going away to Germany, I think, has really helped that side of it.
37:07It's really enhanced his probably levels of leadership.
37:10I think it was always there.
37:11But I think when you go there and you win a title, I think the praise is coming.
37:16That's for sure.
37:17I think every time you talk about, I don't mean you, every time everybody talks about Villa at the moment, it's kind of the same story, isn't it?
37:24It's about their attacking threat or lack of it.
37:27And, you know, you see their numbers on the average for last season and the average for this season and everything's down.
37:33One of the, you know, the big ones, they're obviously, you know, goals way, way down per game.
37:40When you look at them and look at Emery and look at the players, what are you seeing?
37:45Well, a team lacking confidence, I think.
37:46They're down the bottom of the league because they've not scored enough goals.
37:49I mean, Matty Cash got a goal today, collector's item, but at the same time, not scoring goals.
37:55You look at the turnover of players as well.
37:56They lost a lot of attacking players in the last six or seven months.
37:59You know, Rashford, Asensio, Bailey.
38:02I mean, the list probably goes on.
38:03The many players, John Durant, even go back to that last season at times.
38:06So the list of players that they've lost and maybe they've not, I think they're the smallest spenders in the window in the summer as well.
38:11With the PSO, they weren't allowed to strengthen in key areas.
38:14And I think there's a lack of goals.
38:16And even after it's worrying that Unai Emery has called these players lazy after the game.
38:21He said, we were not playing with our identity.
38:23We are not achieving our identity.
38:26We were lazy sometimes in defence.
38:28When we conceded, we were lazy.
38:30See, I think that's a risk when you call out your players in public.
38:34I think you can say that behind closed doors and say that it's not acceptable, it's not good enough, you're lazy.
38:38But I think when you say it in the press, you know, players maybe take that their own way.
38:42It doesn't seem, he doesn't seem happy at the minute.
38:44I see him go down the tunnel early, he didn't clap the away fans.
38:46You know, the Villa fans have travelled a long way up to the north-east of England as well.
38:49That wouldn't sit well with the fans either.
38:50So it's not all well at Villa at the minute.
38:52They do seem flat, don't they?
38:56It's like they, when you have a manager for so long, like I'd ask them for a long period of time,
39:00and you sometimes need a different change of voice or you need new players coming in.
39:03And like you're saying, when players leave, you want a different side of things, you want a bit more energy.
39:07And it's like they're kind of bored of some of his decision-making at times.
39:11And like you're saying, when you're calling your players lazy, you know, trust me, there's going to be a few who won't be happy with that.
39:15OK, as far as the Villa goal was concerned, I mean, it was a decent strike from Matty Cash.
39:19I'm guessing you're going to say not great goalkeeper?
39:22Well, I'll try and stick up from as best I can.
39:25Rufus was on fire last week, but he's not going to be too happy with this.
39:28I mean, it's a great strike from Cash, and you'll see, Mark, from behind the goal how much the ball moves.
39:32But I still expect Rufus to save this.
39:34You know, this is a really good angle, what we have done.
39:36We'll sort of slow it down as best we can.
39:38And he's going to punch us for some reason.
39:39He's actually, hands are closed, Mark.
39:41Now, as a goalkeeper, there's a lot of power on the shot.
39:43If he keeps his hands open, he can still parry that away.
39:46And last week, Rufus on fire.
39:47This week, Rufus leaking.
39:51Why?
39:52Sorry, what I would say, he's only 22, he's only young, he will learn as well.
39:55What would be in his thought process to go for the punch?
39:58Well, he's obviously thinking to get it away from danger.
40:00Because if you palm it, it could just go straight back out.
40:02What I'm saying to you is, when you close the gap, the ball's coming towards you, your hands are smaller, look.
40:05And if you open your hands up, mine's a bit crooked, it might add.
40:08But when you open it up, there's more of the ball to hit.
40:10But the pace is on the shot ready.
40:11You can still bang it away with your hands open.
40:13He closes, makes his hands smaller, and it goes past him, goes off the top of his fists.
40:16Right, next, Bournemouth against Newcastle.
40:20And Eddie Howe has never beaten his former side in the league in six attempts.
40:23John Rohder was at this one.
40:25Antoine Semenyo is one of nine players who have started all five Premier League matches so far this season for Bournemouth.
40:34Semenyo and Alex Scott scored in last weekend's win here over Brighton,
40:38which gave the Cherries three successive league victories.
40:41Two changes before Fede Diakite returns from injury.
40:44And there's a first start for Alex Jimenez.
40:47Nick Voltamata returns to the Newcastle team,
40:49as Eddie Howe makes seven changes to the side that started against Barcelona on Thursday.
40:55Malik Tiao makes his first start.
40:57Newcastle have recorded goallers' draws in both their away matches so far.
41:06This is Bournemouth's best ever start to a Premier League.
41:09Nine points from a possible swells.
41:13This their ninth season in the Premier League.
41:19Two, two, three, go!
41:21Tavernier.
41:23Lovely, aggressive run here from David Brooks,
41:26and he's still going, the Welshman.
41:28Adams kicked away to safety by Pope.
41:32Tyler Adams got everything behind that shot.
41:35Nick Pope with the first significant save of the afternoon.
41:42Eddie Howe had three promotions in his two spells as Bournemouth manager.
41:46Four hundred and fifty-eight games in charge of the Cherries.
41:55Tonali.
41:59Murphy.
42:03Tonali.
42:04Murphy's made the run ahead of him.
42:06Murphy.
42:07Blocked by Petrovic.
42:11Newcastle's first meaningful attack.
42:14Petrovic with the block here.
42:15To deny Jacob Murphy.
42:25De Aquite.
42:29Tavernier.
42:30Going to squeeze that ball out.
42:32Evan Nielsen.
42:33Brooks is there.
42:36But it won't count.
42:38Offside.
42:39David Brooks here at the bottom of your picture.
42:45As it's played through to Evan Nielsen.
42:47He's in an offside position there.
42:49The flag instantly raised on the far side.
42:59Brooks.
42:59Surely fouled and was by Malik Tiao.
43:08Brooks and Scott stand behind this free kick for Bournemouth.
43:17Brooks with the delivery.
43:18Well, somehow Newcastle were able to clear it.
43:24It smacked into Tonali.
43:26And just for a moment, everybody stood still.
43:29They certainly had a look here to see whether that might be interpreted as a handball.
43:36And eventually, it was decided that it could not.
43:45Adams.
43:46Just showed a little bit too much of that to Miley.
43:48Valtomada.
43:51Tonali.
43:55Liveramento to drive it across first time.
43:57Valtomada goes down in the area.
44:01He felt it was a penalty.
44:03Newcastle supporters felt it was a penalty.
44:06But play continues.
44:08Rob Jones' initial decision.
44:11Backed up by VAR.
44:12The French defender and the German striker exchanging words.
44:21Oh, we're going to have a goalless draw here.
44:23We haven't had a shot on target so far in the second half.
44:30Liveramento.
44:32Slightly risky.
44:33Evan Nilsson.
44:34Almost able to take it away from Botman.
44:36And he would have been clear had he done so.
44:39Handball.
44:42Malik Chil.
44:47Shown yellow for a deliberate handball.
45:01Christy.
45:05Christy again.
45:06Gets there ahead of Tonali.
45:08That's a foul.
45:09He's just been booked a few minutes ago, Malik Tiao.
45:15The Newcastle defender has walked away from Rob Jones.
45:21All the fans can't quite believe that there isn't a second caution for Tiao.
45:28Following this challenge, referee had a good unimpeded view of it.
45:34And decides the only punishment is a free kick.
45:39Christy and Kluivert.
45:42Are the options to take this free kick for Bournemouth.
45:45Clivert leaves it.
45:53Christy with a delicate chip.
45:54Oh, deary me.
45:56Quite simply, wasn't on the same wavelength as his teammates.
46:00Back to the training ground as far as that set-piece routine is concerned.
46:08Christy.
46:09Works it wide.
46:09Treffier.
46:11Adley's just ahead of him.
46:12Former free kick.
46:16Carle on Adrian Treffier.
46:21Kluivert.
46:22Behind this free kick.
46:24Adley in close attendance.
46:25Justin Kluivert swings it deep.
46:32Away by Botman.
46:37Christy.
46:39Cannoned into Barnes.
46:40And the referee says that was handball.
46:43And it's a free kick to Bournemouth just outside the Newcastle penalty area.
46:50Bournemouth's last free kick from a position a little further out than this was simply dreadful.
46:56What can Bournemouth do here?
46:58Justin Kluivert.
47:00Justin Kluivert.
47:01Amin Adley.
47:05Are behind this free kick for Bournemouth.
47:12Kluivert.
47:13Pushed away by Pope.
47:15Nick Pope getting down low to keep it at nil-nil.
47:23First attempt on target in this second half.
47:27They're happy overall with their performance.
47:30I think the way they defended also, it made that we were playing a lot in their half, so
47:36we were very afraid of their set-pieces.
47:37We didn't concede a lot, and I think the ones we conceded, we defended really well, and
47:43I think there are a lot of positives, yes.
47:46You didn't actually have a shot in the second half at all.
47:48How concerning is that for you?
47:50It's not good.
47:51You want to obviously create chances and clear-cut chances.
47:56It didn't feel that in our performance.
47:59You know, our performance, yes, it was slightly lacking in chances.
48:03I was well aware of that.
48:04But it didn't feel that we weren't a threat in the game.
48:08I felt we were, and I felt we could score at any time.
48:11But yeah, we're just going through one of those phases where, especially away from home,
48:14it's difficult to score.
48:15But the good thing is we're not conceding.
48:17Well, if you measure your games by XG, that is the most boring game of the season so far.
48:27We're not even an XG of one with the two teams combined.
48:31And look, there were attacking issues for Newcastle today, weren't there?
48:36Yeah, I think Eddie said after the game they're evolving as an attacking force,
48:39and that's putting it mildly.
48:40They didn't have any shots second half, as he said there in his interview as well.
48:43It's something they need to work on.
48:44Obviously, we spoke last week about Walter Meta making his debut scoring against Wolves.
48:48Great start for the big man.
48:50Today, he started with the system.
48:51You see, it's a 5-4-1, isn't it?
48:54It's very defensive, man.
48:55It's not like a three, and the two wingbacks are really high up.
48:58But there's very few chances to speak off of, being honest, Mark.
49:01This is probably the best chance of the game.
49:03The bit of link-up play between, of course, Sandro, Valtamata, and Murphy gets a shot off.
49:07Good save from Petrovic.
49:09But again, the big man's blocking it down.
49:11He's squeezing high up the pitch.
49:13But you're looking for a bit more.
49:14I think it's, I don't know, there's just a spark there.
49:17Murphy here's in an attacking area.
49:18You've got three people off.
49:19He can't just relax himself, try and play in the final third, try and create something.
49:24He has a shot on his weaker left foot.
49:25This is really good link-up play from Murphy and Valtamata.
49:28Can he break the bust of gut to get in the box?
49:30I think he should be darting across the middle of the six-yard box, trying to get in.
49:34Murphy's got an easy pass, in my opinion, to get in.
49:36But he wants to sort of stay out of the box, stay as a number 10.
49:38That's where Eddie and his staff will have to work hard.
49:40We need you in the box to score goals.
49:42That's their best opportunity of scoring goals.
49:43Because you are a target man, you know, obviously wishes out at the minute.
49:47So you're our main number nine, our main striker.
49:49And again, Sandro has a shot from the edge of the box.
49:51A bit of a desperate shot, if I'm being honest.
49:53And again, him and Murphy trying to link up.
49:55I think he's got to get that cross in early.
49:57Murphy's waiting.
49:58He takes that extra touch.
49:59The chance is gone.
50:00Again, here he is on the shoulder.
50:02You know, really good skill for a big man, six foot six.
50:05But now, you're not going to score goals, Mark, if you don't commit bodies into the box.
50:09And maybe that's from the system five at the back or whatever.
50:12You know, it's only Willock in the box.
50:13They're not committing enough bodies forward.
50:15He had to make changes today because they only played Barcelona on Thursday night.
50:20But overall this season, you can see where they've struggled.
50:24He's going to have to, if he wants to play Volta Mata and Wissler together as some kind
50:29of duo, that might have to involve changing formations.
50:33I think this is going to test Eddie Howell's management of a bigger squad.
50:37And I feel at times he's going to have to make a really difficult decision and leave someone
50:41out in big games.
50:43I think he's going to probably more focus on the Champions League, however.
50:47But is he the right manager to make that hard, tough decision when a player you expect to
50:51start won't start quite regularly?
50:53Because the connections, I feel at times in the forward line is important.
50:56And if you're consistently changing it, it's a problem for the forward line to just have
51:01those connections.
51:01They're not going to ever feed off each other.
51:03So for me, that's a difficult place to be.
51:04But he's got so many options, hasn't he?
51:06But equally, there are several new options.
51:08So it will take time for everybody to find their feet.
51:11Well, it kind of feels like with Volta Mata, he's a good link-up player.
51:14So then you have the likes of Gordon, Ilanga, Barnes.
51:17You've got so much pace on the wings.
51:19Obviously, he made seven changes today.
51:20He's got to balance the Champions League and the Premier League.
51:23And again, it's a worrying time.
51:25He says, we're evolving.
51:26We're going to be a different team this season.
51:27But again, as Theo rightly says, it'll test Eddie and his staff.
51:30You know, can they evolve quickly?
51:32Because, you know, they're falling behind in, I suppose, the race to get back in the
51:35Champions League.
51:35But presumably, what's non-negotiable is keeping a midfield, I mean, I know they changed the
51:39formation today, but keeping the midfield three of Tonali and Bruno and Joe Linton.
51:44Yeah, well, Bruno got left out and Joe Linton today, actually.
51:47In Bruno's first game, I think he's been on the bench for 60 or 70 games.
51:51So it was a big decision.
51:52But again, it's that balance.
51:53Thursday, Barcelona took a lot out of the players.
51:56And he rested seven today, made seven different changes.
51:58And you could argue it didn't work, but they've gone up the road by the point.
52:02Let's look at a couple of penalty appeals.
52:04One for each team.
52:06Yeah, I mean, they have a claim here.
52:09I think there was a slight touch from Botman.
52:10But for me, Tonali's in an unnatural position.
52:14That's not natural at all to have your arm there.
52:16And I think he's really lucky.
52:16It went to VAR and the fact they didn't actually decide it wasn't a penalty, that's a bit worrying
52:22for me.
52:23You'd have given that, would you?
52:24I would have given that.
52:24This one, I wouldn't have given.
52:26The reason why, I feel like the ball's too far away from him at this time.
52:28I know there's a sustained amount of pulling on the shirt.
52:31However, I don't think he gets there.
52:33I think he goes down too easy for the size of the man.
52:36Because I would have been the first to actually call for one of these.
52:38Because at times, when you're outside the box, those are given.
52:42But for me, I don't think he's going to get the ball.
52:44I think it's clear before that.
52:45I think you actually disagree with me, don't you, Shay?
52:47I'm not quite sure.
52:48That conversation was actually one of the most entertaining points of the match, actually.
52:51Or was it?
52:52But you actually thought that was a penalty?
52:53Yeah, I think it was.
52:54It was with Steyn Holden.
52:56I actually think they could have been both penalties.
52:57Actually, I think Tonelli was a bit lucky with his.
52:59But I also think he's pulling his shirt.
53:01Actually, if Altamad has gone away from him, I don't know what he's even doing.
53:04And the referee said no.
53:05And I don't know if they asked VAR or not, Mark.
53:07Well, yeah, they will have done.
53:08But they'll have done.
53:09Everything.
53:09Everything goes through VAR.
53:11What about a potential red card for Newcastle?
53:14Well, Malik Chow made his first start in the Premier League.
53:17And he's very lucky.
53:18You know, this is centre-half.
53:20You know, this is a, I don't know, it's just an instinct thing.
53:22I think it's a handball.
53:23It's an easy decision for the referee.
53:25It's a yellow card.
53:26Rob Jones, it's an easy decision.
53:27Now the big decision is to come.
53:29This is three minutes later, I think.
53:30He has a tackle on, you see him here in centre-half.
53:33Ryan Christie.
53:34Ryan Christie, it is.
53:36And for me, this is a clear yellow card.
53:38I don't know why the ref hasn't sent them off.
53:40The players are asking why he's not sending off.
53:43And it should be a child for Malik in the dressing room.
53:46Because it should have been a red card.
53:48It's cynical.
53:49He's blocked them.
53:50And I think they got away with it.
53:51And a couple of minutes later, I think Eddie Howes took them off
53:53before the next challenge he was going to get sent off.
53:56Well, we've been used to being so entertained by Bournemouth.
53:59They were a bit flat today as well, weren't they?
54:00Yeah, they were a bit flat.
54:02And the thing is, they've had a full week to prepare for this game.
54:04You know, the highs of Barcelona on Thursday night for Newcastle.
54:07They've had a full week to prepare.
54:09You know, Newcastle made seven changes.
54:10I thought there'd be a bit more spark from Bournemouth.
54:12But not today.
54:13The XG tells you that, Mark.
54:14Certainly does.

55:19And boomer, red card for Robert Sanchez.
55:25Lodded in to Bruno Fernandes.
55:29It's Casemiro.
55:32Casemiro is on a yellow card.
55:34Casemiro is going to be dismissed.
55:36James puts another cross in.

57:06What a chance for Brentford.
57:09It's Iwobi.
57:11And it's 1-1.
57:13Wilson!
57:17And it's in the back of his own goal.

57:44Sunderland's impressive start to the season continues as they rise to seventh.
57:48Aston Villa finally scored a goal, but they remain in the relegation places,
57:54while Newcastle's third goalless draw of the season keeps them in the bottom half.
