00:00It was a little bit cheaper on heavier cattle and some of the weaner cattle could have been a little bit cheaper in places but generally it was pretty solid.
00:16The particularly well bred cattle were no cheaper at all, reporting up to 546 cents a kilo or $2,400 but the yearling steers that we had consigned to us from Yark, which was excellent, they weighed 441 kilos.
00:35Look, at the moment with the fires that we've had, a lot of the meat works are full, handling fire cattle, which they have to do, which we appreciate their help, helping the farmers.
00:48We haven't had any rain in South Tixland here for a month, we've still got a good wedge of feed, a lot of hay has been cut but a shower rain would be appreciated.
00:57It's raining east of the prom this morning with an east coast weather event down there but quite often it doesn't come past.
01:04We've got a lot of cattle on the market, we wouldn't expect it to be any deer moving into January with the number of weaners that are being sold at the moment.
01:15Plus another sale here tomorrow that's been moved out from Ye, the Alders weaner sale which was a smart move by them to bring the cattle down here.
01:25I'm hopeful that goes well for them.
01:27We just need a shower of rain and I think things will pick up again quickly.
01:32There probably could be a little bit of uncertainty amongst the buying fraternity about the effect of this tariff that China's introduced.
01:40However, that doesn't kick in until June or July so that's a long way from now.
01:44However, it is probably creating uncertainty for some people that are putting, or feedlots particularly, feeding cattle in a 150 day program.
01:53They mightn't be sure what they're going to get at the other end.
01:55So that could be one of the reasons that feedlots are a little bit cheaper.
01:59But all in all, still very solid and excellent prices.
