00:05The president made the announcement at the Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday and explained
00:09why he's yanking the money from places with an open-door migrant policy.
00:13It breeds fraud and crime and all of the other problems that come. So we're not making any
00:17payment to anybody that supports sanctuary cities. The Justice Department published a
00:23list of sanctuary cities and states back in August. It includes places like California,
00:27New York, Illinois, Connecticut, and Minnesota. And the cities on the list include some of the
00:32country's most populous, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, LA, and Boston. Now, it's not immediately
00:38clear how big the financial pullback would be, and things could get complicated. Would the funds,
00:45for example, include Medicaid and food stamps that are paid for by the feds, but administered by states?
00:51And speaking of Medicaid, the president, in a speech that was, after all, centered around the economy,
00:56also teased the announcement of a healthcare affordability framework that he plans to make
01:02later this week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Now, he said the plan is aimed
01:07at reducing drug prices and providing more transparency and accountability from insurance companies.
