00:00If you're on tour, you know what this is about. If you know, you know.
00:04Anti-slip. Must have.
00:07If it's not Tim Hortz, it's going to be a Dunkin' Donuts, but, you know, we don't do the Starbucks.
00:30Hello, everyone. I'm Maurizio from Cataclysm out here on tour with Vader.
00:42Malevolent Creations, Skeletal Remains. Great tour so far. We're having a great time.
00:46We're traveling in two vehicles. My crew is in a tour bus.
00:50We're doing it in an old-school Sprinter. It's not really old. It's pretty new.
00:54But the idea of touring bands in a Sprinter is different.
00:57When you've been doing this for so long, like we've done, we've been doing for, you know, 30 years,
01:02becomes a little bit like, hey, you're still doing it in vans.
01:05Not when if it's a van like this, it's perfect for a van like us. So I'll explain to you why.
01:17So this is a unique Sprinter.
01:20It's got bunks. It's been customized a certain way to, you know, kind of meet our needs after all these years of touring.
01:27This is where obviously the driver seats and drives. Our driver right now is at a hotel so he gets a luxury and we get to stay here during the day.
01:37But so, you know, we cover these things out so we have complete darkness in here.
01:41And then once we close this thing, it's like being in a tour bus so, but in a very, very small environment.
01:46So people that know me know that I always try to find solutions to problems, right?
01:51Like I have a management company and that's part of my job as well.
01:55As touring expenses got really high, we decided to do something that's economical, number one.
02:00And number two, you know, caters to all the needs of a band would need, right?
02:04The biggest problem that happens with vans like this is that, you know, vans tour like this and then they're freezing at night in the middle of the winter.
02:10They got to get three hotel rooms. They got to do all that stuff.
02:13But we created a thing that's unique in the sense that it has in its own battery system that can go to 12 hours without any sort of being plugged in anywhere or anything.
02:22It can self-sustain itself.
02:24And if you need to plug it in into a normal volt, 12 volt, you know, Edison plug, plug it in and you got full power all the time without depleting the battery.
02:32So it's very, very efficient.
02:34It has solar panels on the top when you want to, you know, get some stuff going on without any, with Mother Nature pretty much.
02:41So I got this idea.
02:43I had some guys, friends of mine that are down South Florida that we had some that could do this.
02:48They never did it before.
02:49So it was kind of an experiment.
02:51And now we have a couple of these that we've built.
02:53Some have six bunks that go all the way up here.
02:55And then this doesn't exist and it has a cedar.
02:58But this one right here is the one we take because we're only four plus a driver for Cataclysm and it works.
03:02So the one cool thing is, you know, we like to watch movies at night and chill like in a tour bus.
03:07So we created something that you can plug your own phone with your own, it tethers right off your phone.
03:13And so basically right now it's off my phone and it's just, it plays all the time.
03:17And so we have unlimited stuff and so it works.
03:20So we have that.
03:21We have a fridge out here.
03:22There's definitely going to be beer in here for sure.
03:24We're big beer drinkers.
03:26We go light during the day and at night a little bit heavier.
03:29We've got the Clamato juice.
03:30As you see, I'm already started with a little imitation Michelada.
03:34I mean, I'm not doing it the right way, but just a little flavor in the beer.
03:38Waters, all that stuff.
03:39We have snack areas and all this stuff we keep in here.
03:42So basically with our beer, we like to eat, we like to eat chips.
03:45I mean, that's, you know, traditional, I guess.
03:47So some of us like the salt and vinegar, the pickles.
03:51We can't ever agree on the same thing.
03:53So everybody gets their own.
03:54So we kind of like have our own stuff and, you know, I like the spicy stuff.
03:59So, you know, we got a lot of stuff like this.
04:01Mornings when we don't have time, we got the Clif bars.
04:05So yeah, we, we do our thing, you know what I mean?
04:07And it's, it works perfect for us.
04:09And then this is just extra storage right here.
04:13So, you know, our, we're, you know, the band's from Canada.
04:16So we have to do the Tim Hortons.
04:19If it's not Tim Hortons, it's going to be at Dunkin' Donuts.
04:21But, you know, we don't do the Starbucks.
04:24So, but we like the Tim Hortons coffee in the morning.
04:28Obviously, my guitar player, that's his reward at the end of the show.
04:35I'm with this.
04:36I'm liking the tequila.
04:38And sometimes we got some wine.
04:39So it's always ready.
04:40We get here, we prepare it.
04:41We have it for the day and we're happy.
04:43So this is a very unique thing.
04:45We wanted something.
04:46We could brush our teeth at night and, and wash our hands or do whatever.
04:50But we didn't have a septic tank or anything on this, on this, on this sprinter.
04:55So basically, this has gray water, has clean water.
04:58And what do you do is you pump this thing, all right?
05:02And then the water comes out.
05:04And then you, you wash your thing and use it.
05:06And as much as you need, you use it.
05:09So it's kind of a really unique thing.
05:10And if you want to look in here, it has the, you know, if you lift it, you see it right here.
05:15I'm not going to do too much, but you can see how it works.
05:18So it's very unique, it's cool and we use it when we need to.
05:21So we go to the venue, we fill out the water, we throw the dirty water every day.
05:25We change it and that's, that's, that's it pretty much.
05:27We do have a microwave when we need it, which gets used pretty often on tour.
05:31As you know, we got storage area, we got a, we got a cooler filled with beers, obviously.
05:38That's what we do here.
05:40And then some storage areas and things like that.
05:42So yeah, fan for fresh air.
05:45Right now it's getting a bit colder, so we're good.
05:48And then when it gets too cold, we got a separated heater system that's right here.
05:53So we know you, we use this, it shoots through the back here.
05:56And then we have a separated heater system that's connected to the gas tank.
06:00So basically, again, independent.
06:02So in the middle of the Colorado, it's cold.
06:06Shoot up that heater, you're good in this thing.
06:08It's small, so basically it just gets warm real quick and we're good.
06:11So that's been, the thing, it's kind of challenging if it's January, February, because when you're
06:16going into minus 20 in Canada, that's a bit, bit of a different game.
06:19It gets really hot, really cold.
06:21So extra blankets helps for that.
06:24You know, this particular Sprinter comes with four bunks in the back, right?
06:29It's very big sizes in the same, like European buses.
06:32They're not going to be like the American ones are a bit bigger, but they're good enough for us.
06:36I'm a big guy and I'm good in it.
06:37So this is the fifth bunk right here when we need it for an emergency or the driver.
06:42We have, let's say, 12 hours and we have to do, we can't stop at a hotel for him or whatever.
06:46He uses this bunk right here.
06:48This opens up all the way, closes up this entire area.
06:52This gets taken out, goes under, cushion, pillow and everything.
06:55And then you have a private light.
06:58So it works.
06:59It gets a, so you can, you can actually be five members in here and travel and everybody stays inside.
07:05So as you can see, there's also seatbelts here that are, we kind of put them in the back here,
07:11but you got seatbelts all around.
07:12You got three of them here because we can, we have to have, in certain states, it doesn't matter,
07:18but other states, you need to have belts for every single passenger.
07:21So you got three in here and you got two up there.
07:23So you got five.
07:24So very important.
07:26This is my experience with many spillage and breaking and glasses and everything.
07:32Anti-slip.
07:33Must have any bus, even in a tour bus.
07:37I learned it from the tour bus and I brought it here.
07:39So we drove, we drove here from Kumas after, you know, doing our burger today and that they did over there,
07:46which, you know, kudos to Kumas for doing that for us.
07:50This whole thing didn't move.
07:53Anti-slip.
07:54Must.
07:55A must.
07:56And this when you're on tour.
07:58Yeah, so these are the bunk, this is the bunk area.
08:03It's a little tight.
08:04So we go one at, one at a time, right?
08:06So if somebody's here, like I'll go in first or whatever, and then the smaller guys go on the top.
08:11So they use this little stair situation that I have here.
08:13My belly might be in the way.
08:15So right here, and then, so this is mine over here.
08:18So like, you know, open this.
08:20It's very standard, like a, I got my earpluses, some of these guys snore.
08:24So I use these.
08:26And, you know, light.
08:28It's got a power outlet out here.
08:29Power outlets out here.
08:30And I think, if you're on tour, you know what this is about.
08:36If you know, you know.
08:37So, basically, yeah.
08:40So these are the bunks, and they're very comfortable.
08:42These are Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
08:44You know, we got the standard sheets and everything, and it works perfect for us, man.
08:49So we've been happy and making a lot more money doing this this way.
08:53So let me show you the battery system, which is the unique part of this truck in today's touring needs.
08:58This is what powers the entire truck while it's off.
09:03Like, you know, entire engine is off, and usually you can't do anything.
09:07But with this, we get to power the interior AC, a secondary AC unit that's in the back there, and everything, the heater, everything goes off.
09:15So, basically, it's a very unique Victron Energy battery system.
09:19We've got two big batteries out here.
09:21We also have, it comes with this.
09:23It's like a, if you know what it is, it's a Boost Plus in case you get a problem with the battery.
09:27We've got an extra EcoFlow battery system as a backup.
09:30I bring that with me regardless of any situation, so that I have an extra 10-15% battery right here in case I need it, you know.
09:38So, this is where it plugs right in.
09:41This is the cable we use, where you plug it right here.
09:44And it goes straight into an Edison plug, and it gets full power without burning any battery.
09:54So, you've got a lot of options.
09:56And you can't really go on the top, but there's a, you probably can get it from the side.
09:59There's some satellite solar battery.
10:01So, we've got those that also have power with solar.
10:05So, try to be innovative.
10:08Well, thank you so much, Bus Invaders, for coming out here and checking out our van and, you know, doing what you do for supporting the scene.
10:15Really appreciate it.
