00:39It's a speed thing. Going fast is amazing.
00:44Driven from the world of skiing,
00:46somehow it's driven me into the 4L Drive world.
00:49And then Luc Alfond, a ski racer who is very well known.
01:00We used to watch him growing up
01:02to analyze our ski racing with his on VHS.
01:13And then I read that he started racing Dakar.
01:16I just thought, this is so cool.
01:20A ski racer going to race Dakar was incredible for me.
01:26And winning it. Yeah, absolutely.
01:27And I thought that was just incredible.
01:32It would never be in my reality as a Canadian.
01:34And we knew nothing about it.
01:35We didn't know what class to go in.
01:37We didn't know how to build a vehicle.
01:40We went through options.
01:41Can we race the Porsche Cayenne, the 944?
01:43Can we race the Toyota, you know, a 4Runner or a Tacoma?
01:47Why don't we look at the Ford Raptor Bronco?
01:49I think this is a good option for us.
01:51It's got the long travel suspension, 37-inch tires,
01:55the long, short wheelbase.
01:57This is the one.
01:58This vehicle is very heavy out of the factory.
02:04So we know it's underpowered for its weight.
02:07Broncos are back here in the desert.
02:10After that, now the regulations for the car.
02:12We want to learn the hard way.
02:14And it was full on after that,
02:16trying to get this vehicle to certification.
02:19We were able to formulate this score class.
02:22The vision is to grow the sport,
02:26grow the presence from North America
02:28so that this really becomes a very nice international race.
02:32I don't think I have time to be worried.
02:36Every fiber of your body has to believe
02:38that the outcome will be positive.
02:40And you have to just see it, breathe it, smell it,
02:44and just visualizing that the finish is possible.
02:48And I don't know what will happen in between.
02:50This truck is a collection of annoyances.
03:02The puzzle is a pleasure.
03:04And driving is a pleasure all the time.
03:07Anytime there's a steering wheel, throttle, and brake,
03:10that's a pleasure.
03:11No matter how hard we have to work.
03:13I can see clearly now the road is up.
