00:00Honestly, I don't make predictions anymore. I don't.
00:25The first time I thought about it was in South America.
00:27I went there by car with a friend.
00:29Basically, as a spectator.
00:31I think that's what finally made me want to do it.
00:33Because when I was there, seeing the bivouac, the overall atmosphere, the landscapes, the cars, the people on foot,
00:39it really made me want to take part.
00:42I always liked driving.
00:44Back then, I didn't know the dunes, so it made me want to try going through them in a car.
00:49So that's how it started.
00:51I won the first special stage I ever did, getting stuck in the middle of the mud.
00:56I remember Nani was bogged down there, and I managed to squeeze past just barely.
00:59I got half stuck, managed to get out, and I thought I'd lost everything.
01:03I'd lost a minute and a half.
01:04In WRC, it's over.
01:06Your rally is already lost.
01:07Then I get to the finish, and I set the fastest time.
01:10So it's pretty good.
01:13At first, I found it too long.
01:15I was more used to sprint formats, whether in WRC or elsewhere.
01:19And suddenly, finding myself spending five hours in a car two weeks later, I thought it was a bit long.
01:25But in the end, you get a taste for it, because there's an adventure aspect you don't find anywhere else.
01:30I've always liked the variety in rallying.
01:37One race on asphalt, then on dirt, another on snow.
01:41On the Dakar, I love this variety of landscapes.
01:44I don't like rock crawling, where you're most afraid of getting a puncture.
01:47I like fast tracks with real driving involved.
01:50I like dunes, but not three days in a row of nothing but dunes.
01:54That's repetitive, but having some dunes in the middle of the stage, that I like.
02:03We've much more perspective than last year.
02:05Last year, we arrived at Dakarna, quickly had issues with fans and other things,
02:09and then we got caught in a cycle that meant it didn't really work out.
02:13You're never safe from anything, but I think at least the team is motivated, and we've worked well.
02:18The early teething problems have been resolved, so I dare to hope that we're not.
02:24I'd like to have a rally that runs smoothly.
02:28The pace will be whatever it is, but a clean rally.
02:31If you do that at the Dakar, the final result is inevitably good.
02:35Maybe not a victory, but at least a rally without major issues.
02:43You need to bring everything together, and have luck.
02:47The reliability of the car, the crew's chemistry, navigation, driving, driving errors.
02:53There are so many things that come into play.
02:55I'll just try and do my best, and then we'll see.
02:57I'm not going to make any kind of prediction.
02:59I'm not going to make any kind of prediction.
03:01I'm not going to make any kind of prediction.
