00:20during an operation in a snowy residential neighborhood south of downtown.
00:25Federal officials said the shooting was an act of self-defense, but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey
00:32described it as reckless and unnecessary.
00:36The killing, which was captured on a vigil by witness, happened just blocks from historic
00:42immigration markets and about a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.
00:47It quickly drew large crowds of protesters, with hundreds returning later in the evening
00:54for a vigil.
00:55Protesters also confronted local and federal officers, including senior Border Patrol official
