00:08I am trying to figure out the balance of mom's life and taking care of myself.
00:13I've got 15 minutes and want to squeeze in a workout.
00:16What can I do with a set of 10-pound dumbbells?
00:19When you live with chronic pain, they think it's all about symptom management.
00:24For me, a lot of that is also mindset management.
00:27I'm having an endo flare-up today.
00:30What are some simple things I can do to help me feel better?
00:34I have eczema in the spaces that I'm in, like pageants.
00:38It's important that I show up looking my best.
00:42When you find out that your child has cancer, you feel helpless.
00:48Your mind is just spinning with what the possibilities are.
00:53Everything changed, like, right away.
00:54It became really important to me to understand my CAT scan results before I talked to my doctor.
01:01I felt like if I understood, I would be more of an active participant in my treatments.
01:08Oh, that's cute.
01:10Are there any eczema triggers in this?
01:12We're going to sprinkle in a few eczema moves to get that heart rate up, all while keeping it real and mom-friendly.
01:18I got a tickle.
01:19Of course, you go to the doctor and they prescribe medication.
01:23But there is so much more that I can do to help with my care as well.
01:28Enjoy.
01:28I can take a picture of the plate before and after the meal, and it will calculate the calories and the inflammation score for that meal.
01:35We have a follow-up appointment.
01:38Your time with experts can be very limited.
01:42So we would go in armed with questions to make sure that we would get the most out of those conversations.
01:48I track all my symptoms.
01:50So I actually invented a metric called burtness, which was how much of myself am I feeling.
01:55Knowing that I always have that care in my hands gives me confidence to go out for new opportunities.
02:03It allowed us to really feel like we have the facts, and our doctor is giving us his expertise, his experience, his gut instinct.
02:12My doctor's appointments have evolved much more into action planning than they have information gathering.
02:18Come on.
02:18I think helping others is all about giving them the tools they need to help them heal, because empowered patients, they have better health outcomes.
