00:00Let's break down the latest NBA All-Star fan voting update together. The NBA has released
00:05the second round of fan voting results, and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker has moved down
00:10to 17th place in the Western Conference standings. That's a drop of two spots since the first round.
00:16Results came out on December 29th. He was passed by Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and
00:21Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg in this latest update. Right now, Dallas Mavericks guard
00:27Luka Doncic leads the entire league, with 2,229th. 811 votes. In the Western Conference top 10,
00:37the only change was Houston Rockets center Alperin Sengen moving past Los Angeles Lakers guard
00:43Austin Reeves to take the 10th spot. A quick reminder on how this works, fan voting ends this
00:49Wednesday, January 14th, at 9.59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. The fan vote counts for 50% of the
00:56total. Current NBA players account for 25%, and a media panel makes up the final 25%.
01:03These combined votes will determine the five starters from each conference.
01:06After that, the NBA head coaches will select the seven reserve players from each conference.
01:11This year's All-Star format is different. The selected players will be divided into three teams,
01:16two U.S. teams, and one international team. They'll play a round-robin series of games.
01:21The two teams with the best records will advance to the championship game. If all three teams end up
01:27tied at 1-1, the tiebreaker will be overall point differential. Now let's look at Devin Booker's
01:33season so far. He's played in 33 of the Suns' 36 games. He's ranked 9th in the league in scoring,
01:39averaging 25.7 points per game. On 46.3% shooting from the field, he's shooting 29.8% from three-point
01:48range, and averaging 6.3 assists against 3.4 turnovers per game. Those 3.4 turnovers are his
01:55highest average since the 2019-20 season, and that 29.8% from three is the worst mark of his career.
02:03For some perspective, Booker is actually averaging more points per game than six of the players
02:08currently ahead of him in the All-Star voting, and he has a higher field goal percentage than the
02:13current overall vote leader Luka Doncic. Booker received 232,075 votes in this second round of
02:20results. He's a four-time All-Star but wasn't selected last year. In his four All-Star seasons,
02:24he averaged 26.5 points on 48.3% shooting. His numbers this season are slightly below both of those
02:32career benchmarks. On the team side, the Phoenix Suns are performing above expectations with a 21-15
02:38record. They currently hold the 7th seed in the West. If the playoffs started today, they'd face
02:44the Golden State Warriors in the first play-in game. They are just two games behind the Minnesota
02:50Timberwolves for the 6th seed. If you want to vote, fan voting is open to everyone through January 14th.
02:56You can vote once per day with an NBA ID. There are also two 3-for-1 days where each fan vote counts
03:03triple this Wednesday, and again on January 14th. The official All-Star starters will be announced on
03:09January 19th. So, what's your take on the voting process? Do you think the 50-25-25 split between
03:18fans, players, and media is the right way to select the starters, or should one group have more influence?
