00:00Hello and welcome to Antigua, beautiful Antigua for the second of eight matches that are going
00:13to be played here, Antigua and Barbuda. We had the first match here on Sunday when Scotland
00:19beat Oman this evening. It is Australia, the 2021 champions up against Namibia playing
00:27in their third successive T20 World Cup.
00:36Toss happened a short while ago, Australia won it, and they've decided to have a bowl.
00:43Let's have a look at the teams then, first of all in Namibia, Danny Morrison is with us
00:48as well. Good evening Danny.
00:49Good day Murgis and Haydos. The three changes, particularly at the top there, Michael van
00:53Ligon. He's an opener, so they had to tinker with that, and Jack Brassel comes in and Ben
00:59Chicago, and yeah, we've mentioned Erasmus. Think of all his experience. Zane Green's been
01:05around for some time, and you then think about David Vesa and all his all-round skills, and
01:11then Trumpleman stands out, doesn't he? Chicago, as I say, comes into the side, so does Brassel,
01:17and the spin from Schultz. Certainly the underdogs tonight.
01:25So that's the Namibian line-up, and they're up against the side that won this title in
01:302021. Matthew Hayden? Yeah, thanks Murgis, and as we speak also the covers are coming off,
01:35which is good news folks. It's got a powerhouse batting line-up, hasn't it, this Australian unit,
01:39and those two in particular Warner and Head were absolutely magnificent the other night against England,
01:45getting off to a great start, 74 in that power play. Maxwell needs to go big. I'm looking forward
01:51to seeing this continuation of Marcus Stoinis' form, and don't be surprised if Tim David as well
01:57has a power-out team tonight on this wicket, which looks good. Matthew Way to bring home
02:02that lower middle order. In terms of seeing, we've got the one change there. Nathan Ellis comes into the
02:07team. It's not his first match. He came in for Pat Cummins in the first match that was rested, and generally
02:14speaking, Adam Zamp is the key. Hazelwood Cummins to really round out what is a superb batting,
02:21bowling, and stream balance, Murgis. Here's Van Lingen, and Nick Davin as well. They're the two who are
02:30opening the innings this evening, and well, the opening pairing hasn't been all that fruitful for
02:36Namibia so far. Five, four, three, two, one, let's play!
02:44Match 24.
02:50Murgis, you've been around the group long enough for the Australian cricket team, that is, to realize
02:54what's a threat to the group.
03:00Edged, and down to the boundary for four.
03:08It's a lovely shot down the ground by Van Lingen.
03:10And the catch taken.
03:17Glenn Maxwell at backward point, easy as you like.
03:21He's got such a safe pair of hands, and that was coming, you have to say.
03:25Davin giving himself a little bit of room, carving away, not for the first time this evening.
03:30This time he makes contact, and he's also on his way.
03:33Put that down to Captain Hayden.
03:36Look at this.
03:38What is that gully you're talking about?
03:41Yeah, picks out Maxwell.
03:44Super hands, first one down, and, uh, difficult to score off Hazard early.
03:50So Davin's gone for just a brace, two off seven, 14 for one.
04:00Marsh takes the catch, Freilink goes,
04:03again, just giving himself a little bit of room to try and find the gaps in the offside field.
04:08But all he does is find the Australian captain.
04:13Into the wicket, gives himself room, as you said, tries to shimmy to the onside.
04:19Gets it fat on the bat, and straight in the hands of the Australian captain, Mitch Marsh.
04:27Trouble, early doors, finally gone for one, 15 for two.
04:33Out, juggled by Maxwell.
04:40Second time lucky for him.
04:41I'm not entirely sure he picked that up.
04:43Have you got enough hand on it to knock it up and claim the catch?
04:49So van Lingen goes, and it's crisis time for Namibia.
04:54Certainly is.
04:56To change that angle again, Hazelwood.
04:58Round and might have been a little parry, but still in control, Maxwell.
05:04Excitement from Warner at slip, and then a little fist-pump celebration from Hazelwood doing the job.
05:10And, uh, van Lingen, yeah, didn't last long.
05:1410 from 10, and it's now three down for just 15.
05:17Oh, that slipped through.
05:22It's kept low.
05:22Whether or not it's just clipping leg is the question.
05:26The answer is no from the umpire.
05:28That's the umpire on the ground.
05:31If they go upstairs, it might be a different reply.
05:35And we'll find out.
05:42Bull tracking coming up.
05:43Original decision is not out.
05:45Pitching in line, impact in line, and wickets hitting.
05:49You'll have to overturn your original decision to out.
05:52Stand by.
05:54Your on-screen signal now.
05:55In for Mitchell Stark this evening, Nathan Ellis.
05:58And making things happen in his very first over.
06:03JJ Schmidt comes and goes for three.
06:05Namibia four down now, 18 on the board.
06:11This one's closer and given.
06:13Maybe a little bit of extra pace, but he was full, Adam Zampa.
06:20And once again, gives him a chance to pick up and out.
06:26Such a hard player to sweep.
06:29Whether it's conventional or reverse, like Tom Moody said.
06:33He's always hitting the stumps.
06:35He's so accurate.
06:36Fantastic bowling.
06:38Troubles continue for Namibia.
06:41Zane Green goes for one.
06:42Trouble 21 for five.
06:49Found the gap.
06:50And finally another boundary to the total for Namibia.
06:56Time for Zampa.
06:59In 2024.
07:02Cultured outside edge.
07:04That runs away for four first up after the drinks break.
07:08What a gents.
07:09Mrs. Moody's moves and Payton.
07:13Evening Danny.
07:15Haydos.
07:16Healthy edge and that's just flowing past Mitchell Marsh and slip.
07:22Full swing and it's actually just caught.
07:24Jordan.
07:26Where's that?
07:29Is it?
07:30Oh, is it Hazelwood?
07:33Beautifully taken and a lot of real estate to come around and make.
07:36And he took it very comfortably in the end.
07:39Yeah, they're a magnificent fielding side.
07:43There's no doubt about it.
07:44They just keep finding ways defensively to be in the match.
07:49Even if you're on the outfield, you're in the game.
07:52You're hunting as a pack.
07:53It doesn't get through that inner circle.
07:55It doesn't go to the boundary.
07:57Luisa decides to take it on.
07:59Gets nothing of it.
08:00Bottom edge.
08:04It's a lovely catch.
08:06Big quick.
08:07He's been up and about with the ball.
08:08Now he's in the field.
08:11How many on the board?
08:12Just the one off his seven.
08:14And it's 31-4-6.
08:22Served on a silver silver, is it?
08:26Got it.
08:27Hit the scoreboard.
08:28No need to read it out of the hand when it's a waste-time bully.
08:32The beautiful strike by Drumperman.
08:35Probably the worst ball Adam Zamp has bowled all year.
08:40And again, is it?
08:42No!
08:43Even with the breeze.
08:45Drumperman perishes.
08:47Going for another sixer.
08:50He makes it look so easy.
08:52It's into the wicket.
08:53He just doesn't get all of it.
08:56Down breeze.
08:56You just got to get the elevation.
09:00Drumperman just gets it high on the bat.
09:03He's gone for seven.
09:05Real trouble.
09:0643 for seven.
09:07Oh, he's got four-fire.
09:13Hundred.
09:15For Adam Zampa.
09:17So the celebrations, you can see why.
09:20Nice little milestone for the leggy.
09:23First Australian to get there in T20 cricket.
09:26Fantastic Adam Zampa.
09:28Classic delivery, particularly to the tail ender.
09:32Who's not going to read the leg spinner overly well.
09:36And see Matty Wade saying that's the one we're talking about.
09:39It's been unbelievable for a long period of time.
09:45And he continues to get the rewards.
09:47Gold is gone without scoring.
09:4943 for eight.
09:56With a blade.
09:58Bush.
09:58Bash.
10:00And it's gone there.
10:04Full toss.
10:05Oh.
10:07Unfortunate bounce there.
10:14And it's delightful.
10:16From the skipper.
10:16Erasmus.
10:17Just a little upper.
10:19What a ramp stroke.
10:24Smashed for six.
10:29There's no, uh, any credence there for, uh, Pat Cummins' reputation.
10:36Erasmus says, I'll have some of that.
10:40It's gone straight up in the air.
10:43But is it going to land safe?
10:45No, it's not.
10:47That man, Maxwell.
10:49I'd swear he's got glue on his hands.
10:53Another catch for him this evening.
10:56He had to make a lot of ground to take that catch.
10:58It's the end of a fighting innings from Erasmus.
11:03He goes for 36 off 43.
11:06It's 72 for nine.
11:10Leading edge.
11:11Who's getting under that?
11:12Tim David.
11:13Tim David.
11:13What a good catch that was.
11:15The end for Chicago and the end for Namibia.
11:20What a professional performance by Australia.
11:23Ruthless in their efficiency.
11:26Two wickets in the over for Stoinis.
11:27It smiles all around for the 2021 champions and their supporters in the crowd.
11:34And Namibia are all out for 72.
11:37This is what they need for another two points to go top of the table
11:40and to secure their spot in the next stage of this tournament.
11:4473 to win.
11:52ICC Men's T20 World Cup on Sky Sports.
11:55For now, though, it is all about Namibia Harad Arasmus giving his final words here to his team,
12:04getting them in the right frame of mind for this defence.
12:12What can Arasmus pull out of the hat here?
12:15He's done something with the bat.
12:17Now he's got to try and get his charges in the right frame of mind to try and find some early power play wickets
12:24and the tough part is that both Warner and Head are coming off a magnificent opening partnership
12:29against England the other day, Australia being the first team to chalk up 200 plus runs in an innings.
12:40Hits and gone and doesn't and is in.
12:47That would have been gone by a mile.
12:49David Warner just hit it and ran.
12:50Travis Head was snoozing, sitting back on his bat.
12:54Caught him off guard.
12:57Would have been out by a long way.
12:58Doesn't even attempt to get in and that hasn't missed by much.
13:06Clubbed through the offside.
13:08First boundary for Australia.
13:11Yeah, a little bit of width and David Warner all over that.
13:14Just crunching that through extra cover.
13:16Saw the strength of the Australians, they were able to pitch it up a fraction fuller
13:25and challenge the edge of the bat early on and couple wickets caught behind in the gully area.
13:31It's just too short, sits up.
13:33David Warner won't miss out on that opportunity.
13:38Slashers and slashers world as David Warner.
13:40He just cannot give him width.
13:49Well, he's looking for some swing.
13:50Just not there on that occasion.
13:52It just starts a bit too wide.
13:55Like you said, Mel.
13:56Any width to David Warner.
13:58Front or back put.
14:00He will cash in early on.
14:02What you dream about is an opener.
14:04Getting a cut shot away early.
14:05Something that's not challenging your stumps.
14:10Oh, and that's the best of the three of them so far for David Warner.
14:13And this is beautifully played.
14:27Setting the full face of the bat.
14:29Beating mid off an extra cover on this occasion.
14:34Getting on top of the bounce and wasn't a half volley by any means,
14:38but he just drove it off the length.
14:44Oh, and then gets short on his hip.
14:45And David Warner says,
14:47thank you very much indeed.
14:49Four, four, six.
14:51And he's on the charge, the ball.
14:54Yeah, it's predictable.
14:56A couple of balls that are a fraction wide.
14:59The correction in on the hip.
15:01You can see how still he keeps his head.
15:04Gives him a great opportunity to play both sides of the wicket,
15:08to read length so early.
15:10Down breeze.
15:11Just got to get it up in that wind.
15:13Get anything on it.
15:17Oh, this doesn't have the distance.
15:21And taken.
15:21Troubleman takes the catch.
15:23It's a fight back from David Visa after getting hit for three consecutive boundaries.
15:27He gets the wicket of Warner.
15:30Certainly showed his intentions early, David Warner.
15:33This one.
15:37Just tries to pump it back down the ground.
15:39That just twists, tries to go over mid on.
15:44Doesn't get enough on it.
15:46Hangs in the air a long time.
15:47Drumperman takes the simplest catch, mid off.
15:58He's gone for a quick fire 20.
15:5921 for one.
16:05Late cut.
16:06Nicely timed indeed there from Travis Head.
16:09Didn't try and over hit it.
16:11It was all about the touch and the angle.
16:13It's using the pace beautifully here, Travis Head.
16:19Short third up inside the circle.
16:21It's slip in place.
16:23He's still got so much confidence.
16:26Play behind the wicket.
16:27Almost plays the ball behind him.
16:30He's an expert if you give him any kind of wit.
16:43As Head just plants the foot.
16:45And it's a wonderful swing of the bat all the way for the second six of the innings.
16:51He's an expert there too, Finchie.
16:53He's in some really good form at the moment.
16:57Carrying that IPL form into this World Cup.
17:01So still trying to hit it too hard.
17:04It's just a proper forgetting stroke.
17:06Just lifting it over mid off's head.
17:08It's all timing.
17:20And then the pull shot.
17:21Just a reminder to everyone.
17:23He can hit off the front foot.
17:24He can hit off the back foot.
17:29It's giving us a full array now.
17:31Late cut.
17:32Punch down the ground and now the pull shot.
17:35It's just beautiful batting.
17:37Just such a still head.
17:39Doesn't overcomplicate it.
17:41His intent is there from ball one.
17:43Just a guy in supreme form with supreme confidence at the moment.
17:47There's a real challenge here for Chicago.
17:51He's had a good to only 24.
17:55And that's what Marsh is now trying to do as well.
17:57A little shimmy down at the wicket.
17:59He gets his first boundary.
18:01And Chicago's first over goes for 19.
18:04Australia 41 for one.
18:05Oh, you can't bowl there.
18:13Not to Travis Head in the form he's in.
18:15Not to the side in which there is a decent breeze assisting the shot as well.
18:19Erasmus is just trying to get the ball through as quick as possible.
18:29This particular delivery is dragging it down which gives
18:33Travis Head enough time to get back onto that back foot.
18:35The lifted over deep mid wicket.
18:3991 meters back.
18:44Just tries to get it up and over and gets enough on it.
18:47It'll race away as well.
18:48Just 21 from 93 needed.
18:54Yeah, even on this occasion, it feels like that he gives himself a touch of room.
18:58But it's just the front leg clearing ever so slightly.
19:01That allows him to keep his head, leg side of the ball and get his hands through it still.
19:07It's a great skill.
19:09Think back to the Namibian innings and the captain Erasmus.
19:12The amount that his front leg was moving out of the way,
19:14he just lost all his base and all his power.
19:17And it wasn't until he'd faced 25, 30 balls that he finally started to get it.
19:21Travis Head gets it from ball one.
19:23And they're just raking up here at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
19:32That's another back-to-back boundary here for Travis Head.
19:34He's strike rate is 200 and it's just 17 needed.
19:44Swing through the line.
19:45He fetches that one from a bit further outside off stump.
19:49Pace off.
19:51Just the form that he's in.
19:52He just finds the gap.
19:53He just gets enough elevation.
19:55Even if it doesn't come right out of the middle of the bat.
19:58See how closely he's watching the ball.
20:02It's a great example of
20:03never being clouded by your thoughts.
20:08Always having such a clear mind.
20:13Yep.
20:13His mind is supremely clear and he's just playing the ball as it comes beautifully.
20:19It was interesting I remember reading something about Travis Head that he was quoted in saying that
20:26he's attributed this red hot form and we've seen it now for over 18 months
20:31down to the fact that he's stopped worrying about the consequences of getting out.
20:35He's just worried about keeping still and just having a bit of fun out there and taking the game on and being his best version of himself.
20:47Stands up nice and tall hits the ball at the top of the rise does Marsh.
20:52The boundary count just keeps on rising.
20:57It's not the worst delivery here.
20:59It's a good leg to Marsh.
21:02High back lift gets his hands up nice and high.
21:09Well they were two shots away.
21:11They're now one shot away with that monster six from Marsh.
21:19Change of pace and it just sat in the wicket and gave Marsh enough time to get back and just club this over mid-wicket.
21:25It's got immense power and that's against the breeze and it's cleared the fence comfortably.
21:31Wants to get it over and done with in one shot and does exactly that.
21:37That is a comprehensive win to Australia by nine wickets in the sixth over chasing down Namibia's
21:45total of 72.
21:47It is the first time these two teams have played in an international T20.
21:53It's one that Namibia probably won't forget too soon.
21:56And with that win Australia also qualify for the super eights.
22:03Quick fire 20 for him off eight balls.
22:10Travis Head again continuing his terrific form.
22:1434 off 17 and Mitchell Marsh brief visit for him nine balls and 18 runs.
22:19Just the one wicket David Visa got David Warner early but they never had enough runs.
22:31Australia had a very singular focus trying to get this total done and dusted as quick as possible.
22:39Yeah, it's not some great reading for the Namibian bowlers.
22:45Mitch Marsh won the toss earlier today and sent Namibia in and it was tough going right from the start though.
22:52Put on the back foot by the pace bowlers.
22:55Then Zampa took those four foot at Asmus.
22:58Well, he was searching for runs.
23:00It took him 17 deliveries before he got his first, but it's called 36 from 43.
23:06In the end, a comprehensive win by nine wickets to Australia.
23:10Two more points to them.
23:11They go top of the table here in Group B.
23:15They've leapfrogged Scotland.
23:19Just confirmation there.
23:20Australia with the queue next to their name have qualified for the super eights.
23:25And as I mentioned, there's still a little bit of a tussle for that second spot.
23:28Because England, if they win their remaining two games against Namibia and Oman, will finish on five points.
23:36Scotland, if they beat Australia, that will mean they qualify automatically.
23:38A loss though, it will come down to net run rate.
