00:00Leading off with the Georgia Bulldogs.
00:03No, no, no, not Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs,
00:07but Coach White's Georgia Bulldogs.
00:09Mike White used to be the coach at Florida.
00:11He's now doing a great job in Athens with a Georgia Bulldogs team
00:15that right now is sitting at 12-1 after a 15-point win versus Long Island
00:21and sitting at undefeated home at 9-0 as they roll into SEC play.
00:25This team is ranked 23rd nationally, which is a big leap
00:30for what they were seasons prior.
00:33So how is Coach White and the Georgia Bulldogs doing it?
00:38It's offense, offense, offense.
00:40This team is averaging almost 100 points a game,
00:43showing elite firepower offensively and winning games
00:47by almost 30 points per game.
00:50That is dominant.
00:51You want stats? I got stats.
00:53How about 30 fast-break points per game?
00:56That's the highest in the country.
00:57How about 45 points per game from the bench?
01:00Or the fact that they're blocking 8.8 shots,
01:03which leads to rim protection.
01:05But it's the offense that's doing it.
01:07They're blowing teams out.
01:09They lead the NCAA in points per game, pace of play, transition scoring.
01:12So they're basically running you off the floor.
01:15When you think about this Georgia Bulldogs team,
01:18their offense isn't just efficient.
01:20It's chaotic for opponents.
01:21If you're out of position, they'll run you right off of the floor.
01:27Let's go to a team on the East Coast playing a little bit of a different brand of basketball,
01:31and that's the Villanova Wildcats.
01:34Listen, you know what my thoughts were on they had to get rid of Kyle Neptune,
01:39and they did.
01:41And it was kind of shocking when they went and they got Kevin Willard to come and coach Villanova.
01:48But Kevin's done a hell of a job with the Wildcats, sitting at 10-2,
01:53with a 3-0 record in the Big East, and running a three-game winning streak.
01:58I was at their last win versus Seton Hall,
02:02and I'll be at their game New Year's Eve tomorrow night as they continue their Big East play.
02:09But the improvement that Kevin Willard has shown for this team right off the bat has been monumental.
02:17Why?
02:17Number one, you have to look at the balance scoring,
02:21led by Bryce Lindsey giving you about 16.6 points per game,
02:26showing his ability to score and create offense.
02:30Well, who's helping him get the ball?
02:32How about Lewis getting you at about five assists per game and 1.6 steals per game,
02:39which creating tempo, finding shooters, and pressure defense this freshman has been the goods.
02:46But it's that balance scoring.
02:47It's the fundamentals.
02:49They're not scoring a ton, folks.
02:50They're only getting you about 79 points per game.
02:53But they're holding teams for about 67 points, which is really good.
02:58And they're averaging 16.5 points per game off of turnovers,
03:02meaning when you're making mistakes, they're getting out of transition and running
03:06and playing really good basketball.
03:09You've got to be really happy.
03:11And I know some of the people involved in Villanova and some of their former players,
03:16they're really happy with the direction of what's going on.
03:19It's interesting when you look at Nova, a team went away from the Roley-Massamino-Jay Wright tree,
03:27bringing in Kevin Willard.
03:29But remember, Kevin Willard had wars with Jay Wright,
03:32so he understands the tradition and playing in the Big East.
03:37But Villanova plays with smart and grit,
03:41efficient basketball that doesn't rely on variance,
03:44they control possessions, and they beat teams methodically.
03:48They're not fast, they're efficient.
03:51And that's the kind of team that can sneak up an opponent come in March.
