00:00A crazy thing we heard, do you have a kidnapping story?
00:03Which one?
00:04Which one?
00:05What have been going on?
00:06The one where you were held at gunpoint?
00:08When did this happen?
00:09That was in Istanbul.
00:12What was going on?
00:12Well, this is back in the 90s where, you know, Wild Wild West.
00:16Because, you know, I wasn't, you know, a high level like a Janet Jackson with security and all that stuff.
00:20But, you know, I was well known.
00:22And a lot of times, you know, the mafia is running things and they will book you, get you out
00:27there and not want to pay you.
00:29They pulled the gun on my road manager and we had to stay in the room.
00:34I don't remember how many days they told us not to go to the airport.
00:38We were trying to get to the consulate, but this is before cell phones.
00:43Oh, yeah.
00:44This is a lot of calling back and forth.
00:46But the consulate sent two security guards and we ended up going to do this show for free.
00:53And went from the show to the airport.
00:55I remember running down the jetway.
00:58It's so funny, too, because when you hear of, like, an artist, you're like, oh, my God, your song's on
01:03the radio, you're touring.
01:04I'm like, life is fabulous.
01:05And then you're like, oh, no, I'm running on an airport away from, yeah.
01:09People, it's funny that two different competing promoters would show up and say with my name and say, I'm here
01:14to pick you up.
01:15And another one would come up and say, no, no, I'm here to pick you up.
01:17It was really a lot of that going on.
01:20That's confusing.
01:21Like I said, no cell phones.
01:23I don't know how we did it.
