00:00Three former Perlis Assemblymen on Friday filed an originating summons against the State Legislative Assembly and its speaker Russel Izan for vacating their seats in the Assembly.
00:11It was filed by the legal firm representing former Chuping Assemblyman Saad Seman, Bintong Assemblyman Fakhrul Anwar Ismail and Gwarsanji Representative Mohammad Rizwan Hashim at the Kangar High Court.
00:24The three are seeking a court declaration on whether Russel's decision to declare their seats vacant was improper, null and void and defective, as well as other relief or orders deemed appropriate by the court.
00:35They named the Speaker as the first defendant and the Assembly as the second defendant.
00:40On December 25th, Russel announced the vacated seats of the PAS politicians after their party membership ceased with immediate effect.
00:48A day before, PAS announced that the three were expelled after signing statutory declarations to withdraw their support for Mohammad Shukri Ramli as Perlis Mentri Besar.
00:59Additionally, five other Bersatu Assemblymen in Perlis also signed statutory declarations.
