00:00and not bad conditions either lovely ground went full the atmosphere is great
00:06Glenn McGrath will start the proceedings for Australia
00:18oh and a little stutter this will be out if he hits and he's missed well they
00:23don't miss many Bevan doesn't especially he came in picked that one up actually
00:27choked his throw a little bit he realized that he had plenty of time no one was at
00:31the wicket and so he just steadied himself but missed well Andy Waller was
00:38gone here a little bit of hesitation and running between the wickets Michael
00:41Bevan coming in quickly and had he hit the stumps here Waller was out by a mile
00:47flower way outside off stump and well fielded that's magnificent fielding in
00:54the air both hands Ricky Ponting stopping what would have been a certain fall
00:59well this is where the Australians are so good when it comes to fielding a certain
01:08boundary saved here by Ricky Ponting throwing himself to his left and certainly
01:14the kind of fielding that would encourage the bowler as well
01:18well that swung a bit and well played beautifully driven through the offside field
01:25four all the way that is a half volley there is a strong man Andy Waller and the
01:34moment Damien Fleming pits this one up right in the slot Andy Waller had no problem in
01:39smashing it through the offside always played that one through the offside
01:47like that magnificently driven so is Zimbabwe Zimbabwe trying to lift the
01:52rate a bit 15 without loss
01:5618 matches at 28 36 years of age so he's been around for a while
02:04that's gone fine and a desperate lunge down there and it's gone for Paul
02:15well they'll be very conscious of getting themselves off to a good start here Zimbabwe
02:20the reason for that is that they've got quite a long tail
02:22interesting lineup Andy Waller, Grand Flower, Guy Whittle, Alistair Campbell and then Andy Flower
02:30batting down the order he's the captain and the wheel keeper Craig Evans can bat a bit as well
02:34but after that it starts to fall away
02:37well this really is a beautiful delivery from Glenn McGrath we've seen him getting
02:51the odd ball to nip back and there again getting it to come back a long way
02:56getting the inner edge of Grand Flower and knocking back the middle stump 21 for one Zimbabwe
03:01just 23 years of age and in the matter Billy land guide James Whittle
03:09that's his performance so far in this World Cup
03:13flowing continues and so does Andrew Waller that is a magnificent strike he hit
03:18two off the front foot through extra cover in the fourth over of the day and
03:23now he's on the back foot
03:28it's well timed got that away and it'll be four
03:32Shane Lee firing it into the pads of Guy Whittle and he was very quick under that
03:36always looking to attack this fellow
03:40hang out brilliant effort absolutely brilliant Stephen Waugh
03:44you just can't keep this fellow out of the game and Guy Whittle goes caught and
03:49bowled and for sharp return chance
03:54and we welcome to the crease the hard-hitting left-hander Alistair Campbell he
03:59won't be on strike because Steve Waugh did his damage last ball of the previous over
04:06now that's four more that's the slower ball from Stephen Waugh and this time Andrew Waller picked it got it rather higher than Guy Whittle managed to do and nothing that Damien Fleming at Midoff could do about it
04:18and on that occasion Steve Waugh gives Alistair Campbell plenty of room
04:25chance and gone Steve Waugh to Mark Waugh and that's how Alistair Campbell goes
04:41Campbell here driving on the up getting an outside edge and straight into the hands
04:47of Mark Waugh at backward point so Zimbabwe lose their third wicket 55 runs on the
04:51board
04:53well Zimbabwe need a big hand from him today because they do have a long tail they
04:58have lost three wickets
05:00the Australians at the moment right on top
05:04so it really it's despair who can get Zimbabwe back into the game
05:09that's good shot
05:14and only got it past the infield but he kept it away from Ricky Ponting on the boundary
05:1964 for three
05:22wrong and beaten well bowled
05:26umpire Shepard has given Andy Flower out and that's beautifully bowled Shane Warne deceiving him with the wrong one
05:34well we haven't seen too many wrong ones from Shane Warne but have a look at this
05:38Andy Flower in all sorts of trouble deceived here in the flight while leaving the bat and Ian Healy making no mistake
05:45fourth Zimbabwe wicket gone 68 runs on the board
05:49Zimbabwe 68-4-4 Craig Evans coming to the crease
05:57to face Shane Warne so two right handers out there now
06:04and life is going to be very difficult for them
06:06well that's got to be close
06:12well perhaps it was just slipping down the leg side or did he get just outside the line one or tata
06:19it's a bit like down the leg side it was slanted yeah just going to miss leg not by much mind you it was not quite a frenzied shout from Steve Warne
06:31in the air and into the gap
06:38well that's gone flying away for four
06:41could so easy have gone to mid on
06:44there's also a mid wicket hovering but as it turned out he picked the gap
06:48did it well too
06:51might have picked that as well
06:54maybe that Warne won't bowl at any great frequency now he's just using it for match practice at the moment
07:04lovely
07:06beautiful placement no doubt about that one
07:08he had his eye on that spot because the man at mid on if he moved wide
07:14and it's a half century for Waller
07:18and he's done very well
07:21yes Andy Waller
07:24has every right to raise his cap and
07:26acknowledge that applause
07:31he's done very well
07:32he's third fifty in one day internationals
07:34oh and that one turned a long way
07:37the end of a good over for Zimbabwe
07:41seventy nine for four
07:42this is certainly a nice option to have on these slow wickets to bring Mark Warr in to volleys off spinners
08:01it's a bit quicker
08:04he's probably wanting to give him as much bowling as he can and no doubt in my mind too that he'll definitely give Bevan a go
08:11the over the wrist spinners tend to create problems down the order more so than orthodox offspin
08:16well he's hit that one and that's gone miles
08:21way over the top
08:23Fleming was hovering it down at the bottom didn't know where it had gone
08:27they may not get that one back
08:29that is a huge hit
08:33maybe one of the biggest hits of this World's World Cup
08:40I think it might have gone onto the canvas roof at the top
08:45I wouldn't be game to climb up there and get it down
08:50well there's a brave man
08:55several stories up
08:59yes and I think that tells it all
09:03I think Mark Warr realised that it had been hit
09:05and we've got another ball coming out on the ground now
09:08I had a little chat to John Hampshire just before the start of play
09:12and he was talking about Craig Evans
09:14and he said if he did get going
09:16and he actually got stuck into one or two
09:19he is a very strong boy
09:21and there's an example of a big big six
09:25trying to knock it down with a stick now
09:28it's obviously got itself wedged
09:31in that canvas that shading
09:35the policeman using that stick of his for all sorts of right reasons
09:40could be a long process
09:46made it
09:47and that's the first time Fleming seen the ball for around about a minute and a half
09:51wall into Whittle
09:57wide
09:58fair enough Duke
10:00it spun away a long long way
10:02pitches
10:12and was taken on the return crease
10:15it's brought up the 100 as well
10:18in the air and really very firmly hit
10:23Stephen Wall I don't think saw that one
10:25it seems to me that was in his range
10:30but it was smashed past him
10:42well that's got to be out
10:43yes he's got him
10:44that's well done
10:46Healy going away there and I tell you
10:48it just seemed to me that the fieldsman
10:50that point may have created a bit of a problem for him
10:53looked for a second as if there was going to be a bit of a collision
10:57as it turned out there wasn't
10:58Mark Wall was in that position
11:00and nicely taken by Healy
11:02he really is good at getting out of the traps and following these
11:07now there's something for the sweepers of the world to think about
11:12everyone who's watching and thinking oh yes we can sweep one
11:15perhaps it may not be quite so easy
11:16Evans made 18
11:17and a good 18 from 24 balls
11:19one who's six for five
11:21his streak is the new batsman
11:24he's a right-hander
11:26he's also a pretty good bowler
11:27and he's out there because of the little sweep shot that Craig Evans try to play
11:32that's a super stroke
11:38well as driven the ball quite beautifully
11:41all day
11:42very strong man he looks like a farmer
11:46hit the ball beautifully through the offside
11:51that's his tenth and that may well be the best one
11:57it's a classical cover drive
11:59not the easiest shot in the world to play when the ball is spinning a long way back into you
12:04come on
12:11come on
12:13oh they've got a hurry here
12:14must be real problems there
12:17must be big problems for Andrew Waller
12:19he was always up against it one felt
12:22and this would be a desperate disappointment
12:26he's been the adhesive part of this Zimbabwe batting order
12:29let's have a look at it
12:31I think he's gone
12:32I don't know why he hung around at the non-strikers end for so long
12:35he was there for an age before he decided to go for the second one
12:39and it's good night Andy
12:41unfortunate because he's played extremely well
12:44it's 126.46
12:49decent enough record in one day cricket
12:51Paul Strang averaging 27
12:53he's a very gutsy little cricketer
12:54bowled his leg breaks well in Australia in the World Series competition last year
12:59competition in which Zimbabwe enhanced their reputation along with Australia A
13:05that's a super stroke
13:09Heath Street getting into that
13:11it's a strong area for him
13:13and very well fielded too by Shane Warne
13:16made some good ground to his left
13:18got down
13:20made a very good save
13:22you see a lot of territory to cover there Shane Warne
13:28it's quite a lush outfield so not so bad diving on this one
13:33on to the slower ball
13:39now Fleming bowls that very well
13:41Stephen Warne is the man there placed specifically for that lofted drive by Mark Taylor
13:46and Fleming has held it back beautifully it was a lovely piece of ball
13:50well on these Indian wickets you must be able to vary your pace and that's exactly what Stephen Fleming, Damien Fleming I beg your pardon has done and heat streak has headed straight to the hands of Steve Warne
14:02seventh wicket
14:04seventh wicket gone
14:05one hundred and forty on the board
14:07and the new past
14:09the new batsman
14:10in the new batsman
14:11brother of Paul
14:12is the new batsman brother of Paul
14:15Fleming has got the change up this time
14:17quicker delivery that had the batsman hurrying his stroke
14:20Keith Streak the man dismissed with that slower ball and last of the
14:23slower ball in the last of it well this in fact is a off break from Damien Fleming heat streak
14:32not really picking that one up and Steve Waugh making no mistake unless the problems Zimbabwe
14:40have had every time they've tried to accelerate they've lost a wicket you'll see no better York
14:48and that from a medium fast bowler some of the really quick ones will get it in like
14:53Waka Yunus before the batsman has time to get his bat down that one was beautifully bowled three
14:59different changes of pace in three deliveries from Damien Fleming and how's that for variation
15:04slower ball a one pick up it stopped on Goodland and this one a Yorker right through the defenses
15:12of Brian Strang it's eighth wicket gone 140 on the board Steven Peel is the new batsman Damien
15:21Fleming is still going this is the fifth ball of his over
15:32that's quite a useful over for someone who is the star of the bowling figures in Bombay that's what
15:40he's done this over a single a wicket dot ball wicket dot ball side
15:47this is a short one from one the batsman having enough time to go on the back foot and smash it
15:57through the covers
16:06inside edge batsman walks umpire Shepard just momently started to raise his finger and then didn't need to
16:16the ball batsman kept going and it's 145 for nine that ball is turning square out there
16:24it'll still be Shane Warne and if you've only to Charlie Locke
16:32145 for nine or 41.5 that's certainly not plan a for the Zimbabweans
16:37they desperately needed to bat out their 50 overs so as their net run rate would be held
16:44well if not constant then reasonably so as it is um they're going to be quite a bit short in the
16:53over for the club
16:55oh
16:57this beautiful ball
16:59again the only trouble was his feet at the hand and the delivery absolutely okay but his foot
17:06was just over so he's got to do it all again
17:13and that's really depressing for a bowler and you can see him really angry with himself
17:17because this was a lovely slow ball unfortunately for him just overstepping
17:30wasn't wasted any time on that he's picked the slower one this time
17:33then he's been giving him plenty of practice at it he's got it right and it's 153 for nine
17:39Shane one in his last over
17:49i feel it
17:54still lost now
17:58feeling has been good but there'll be frustration out there now for the australians paul strang has
18:02played a beautiful stroke there down the ground
18:05beautiful piece of fielding by Stuart law throwing himself to his right
18:09Like all Australian fieldsmen, never afraid to dive, to stop the ball.
18:19Well, it's an absolute clinker.
18:27Not quite the Mike Gatting ball, but it was good enough for number 11 in Zimbabwe.
18:37It was a beauty.
18:37Too good for number 11, very little he could do about it, but to just watch the ball hit
18:44his off stump.
18:45So Zimbabwe all out, and this last wicket to a great delivery from Shane Warne.
18:51154 all out Zimbabwe, a good performance by Australia.
19:00Beautiful.
19:01Not a good ball, not one Charlie Locke will revere as the match goes on.
19:07One that still had to be dealt with, short outside the off stump, bit of width.
19:11It was really a matter of Mark Waugh placing it, which he did to perfection.
19:14Charlie Locke found out in his first over that he can play through the onside.
19:23Now he's discovered that he's pretty good through the offside as well.
19:26And he's done in the grand fashion also.
19:39Well then, in the second row there is the new player in the Australian side, Jason Gillespie.
19:48And he's come over from South Australia.
19:52He's the replacement for Craig McDermott.
19:55He's been through the Australian Academy.
19:56And a very good young bowler.
20:00I've seen him a couple of times this year when we've been doing Bergentide Mutual Cup games.
20:05And he looks good, he's sharp.
20:10It's a very good shot.
20:11Even though the field have got a hand on it, it'll still go to the boundary.
20:14And go there with great pace as well.
20:16Nice stroke from Taylor.
20:22Beautiful pace from good timing.
20:24And it's 31 for naught.
20:35That's the little charge.
20:37And we can say that Mark Waugh is feeling quite comfortable.
20:42Yes, he's in very good form, Mark Waugh.
20:46Taking advantage of the field restrictions in the first 15 overs.
20:53Yes, I think you've got to look upon the academy as a finishing score.
20:58Most of the young cricketers who are going there are very talented
21:01and probably going to make at least first class standard on their own.
21:08They perhaps just get there a bit quicker and a bit better prepared.
21:10And I'd suggest that that's not a good place to bowl to Mark Waugh.
21:20This is going to be Brian Strang.
21:21He's a left arm medium pacer and it won't be long, I shouldn't think,
21:26before we see his brother down the other end, Paul,
21:30bowling his leg spinners and googly's.
21:32And he's one of the better proponents of leg spin in the world.
21:37Well, that's a good shot.
21:40He smashed that away square.
21:41You just can't bowl short to Taylor in this frame of mind.
21:45Well, I think he's playing very, very well indeed.
21:49His attitude at the moment at number one in this Australian betting line-up is to attack.
21:54And it seems to me that he's taking the lead.
21:56Well, Brian Strang just does not have the pace to trouble Mark Taylor with a short delivery
22:01and promptly put away.
22:05He certainly looks a player with two hundreds belt.
22:10Looks in a terrific touch out there.
22:14That's well played too and that'll be four.
22:17Forced away off the back foot through extra cover.
22:19And that brings up the 50.
22:22Nine runs off that over.
22:23It's 51 without loss.
22:26All well played.
22:29Beautifully driven.
22:31Bisecting the fieldsman at middle for an extra cover.
22:34A six boundary all the way along the ground.
22:38But no real effort in that shot from Mark Waugh.
22:40It's all timing.
22:43And he makes it look so easy.
22:45Foot to the pitch of the ball.
22:46Lovely follow through.
22:48Four runs moment it left the bat.
22:51It really is a class act, is Mark Waugh.
22:56That's nicely played.
22:59That'll go for four.
23:00Yes, it will.
23:03And that's his fourth boundary and that was beautifully played really.
23:06Again, waiting for the ball and not trying to hit it too hard.
23:08Just placing it very well.
23:11Oh, and the big appeal there that was just going down the leg side.
23:15Couldn't have been that far away.
23:17Either that or he got a little edge on it.
23:19Keep an eye on the umpire.
23:20Yes, giving runs.
23:23So it was a little inside edge.
23:25Otherwise, it might have been pretty close.
23:27But that's what saved him because this ball didn't bounce as much.
23:31Kept a little bit low.
23:33And Taylor just got a little inside edge on that.
23:37Certainly would have been on his way otherwise.
23:38That's nicely played again.
23:44Beautifully struck.
23:45Don't run for that.
23:46And he's not.
23:47Caressed through the offside field for four again.
23:52That one's flicked away and that'll be four as well.
23:55Just down the leg side to a man up in the circle.
23:57And of course, you can't afford to bowl to these two class players like that.
24:02It's a slightly different circumstance too with the Australians batting against Paul Strang
24:11compared with the West Indians.
24:13And there is a very good example of a Bozzi.
24:18Clark Nicholas was talking about the problems the West Indies had.
24:21I think you can mark Mark Taylor down there as being one who didn't pick the googly.
24:29Beautifully bold and very difficult for Andy Flower.
24:31The wicketkeeper because the ball bounces quite dramatically out of the foot.
24:35Mark sits him in the chest.
24:36And that will go down as a chance but a very difficult one.
24:40And immediately, as so often, when a chance is missed, it's followed by a boundary.
24:56So 50 to Mark Waugh and another very good one too.
25:0068 balls for it.
25:01And full of the array of strokes that we've already seen in this World Cup.
25:05He's got back-to-back hundreds against Kenya and India.
25:08And now 50 against Zimbabwe to follow it up.
25:11Lovely timing and great grace and elegance at the crease.
25:14Well, he's pretty lucky to get away with that.
25:20It's a wild bit of cricket.
25:22A high full toss.
25:24And Mark Taylor with a sort of slash through the covers and an inside edge.
25:28Keeper didn't have a chance and it's four runs.
25:30I'd be very surprised if the Australians gave their wickets away here.
25:35I think there's every chance of these two looking to see it all the way through.
25:42And I spoke too soon.
25:52Here we go.
25:55Mark Taylor for the second time in consecutive matches.
25:58Pulling the ball away on the leg side.
26:00A little bit of extra bounce and maybe some skid off the surface from Paul Strang.
26:05But Tony Gregg had been saying just 15 minutes ago how he was the most likely wicket taker.
26:10And why hadn't he been brought in earlier?
26:11Yeah, there's all sorts of ways to get a wicket.
26:12And this is one of them.
26:16That's the judge catch.
26:17And it's a family affair out there with Brian Strang taking the catch.
26:22And Mark Taylor out for 34 from 50 balls faced.
26:25It's 92 for one and drinks.
26:41It's all happening in Dubai.

28:27The A to Z of entertainment.
28:29Rikki Ponting called at the wicket against Kenya of Rajabali for 12,
28:45and then fascinating piece of cricket in Bombay
28:48when he came to the crease and was immediately put under pressure by the Indians.
28:52The spinners were on and there were close fielders around.
28:54And he wasn't his normal exuberant self.
28:57Dismissed there for 12.
29:00So, plenty of time needed at the crease for Rikki Ponting.
29:03It's a full toss and it's well timed by Rikki Ponting.
29:12Thumped away down the ground with that.
29:14Any bother at all?
29:15Now, there's a statistic that opposing captains who might come across Australia in the quarter or semi-finals
29:21might be particularly interested in.
29:30That's a beautiful stroke.
29:32Splitting the two men out at long on and long off.
29:35This is a very quick outfield.
29:37A smooth outfield.
29:39And the boundaries straight are very short.
29:42And Mark Waugh kicking his spot.
29:44Just shutting the face.
29:45Dragging it right of the boda as he dived.
29:49And more good timing from this wonderful New South Wales batsman.
29:59And four more.
30:03Australia 113 for one.
30:09Beautiful footwork there.
30:10That's the basis of all good batting.
30:12Mark Waugh's down the track.
30:15And this time, exactly the opposite.
30:18Footwork quite perfect once again for the type of delivery.
30:21And it was beautifully done both times.
30:29Before runs, he picked the gap quite perfectly.
30:32That was the wrong one.
30:34Paul Strang, but Ponting very quick to rock back and picking the gap between extra cover and mid-off.
30:39Good opportunity for some batting practice for Ricky Ponting.
30:45Australia cruising to victory.
30:48And then Ponting taking that opportunity.
30:51This will clearly well look good.
30:52They're batting against a few spinners on the subcontinent.
30:55I guess I'm glad he's at least got out there to get bat to ball.
31:00Pretty important from Australia's point of view.
31:02He hasn't made any run so far in this World Cup.
31:04And it's shots like this one that lift confidence.
31:08It was beautifully played.
31:13Got him.
31:14Yes, caught in ball.
31:15That's beautifully done.
31:16That's a magnificent catch, actually.
31:19He tried to hit it down the ground.
31:20Closed the face just a little bit on it.
31:23And it was caught on the second attempt.
31:25That's well done.
31:26That's a beautiful piece of bowling by Paul Strang.
31:29That's the line he should be bowling.
31:30Middle and leg, making the batsman drive on the onside.
31:34This is exactly what Ricky Ponting has done.
31:36Not quite to the pitch of the ball.
31:37And a very good catch on the second attempt by Strang.
31:41Australia lose their second wicket.
31:42150 runs on the board.
31:50So Stephen Ward's the new batsman.
31:52There's not many brownie points to be earned out there.
31:55Just enough time to get out, though.
31:57This is the sort of thing batsmen don't like too much.
32:01192 matches.
32:02Have a look at that.
32:02Over 4,000 runs.
32:04An average of over 30.
32:06And a good strike rate to boot.
32:14And that one's played away on the offside.
32:16And it'll go to the fence for four.
32:18And that is the end of the match.
32:20So the Australians winning comprehensively in this Wills World Cup match against Zimbabwe.
32:26They bowled well.
32:27Restricted the Zimbabweans to 154.
32:31And they've come out of the bat and knocked them off without too many problems.
32:34Well, a commanding win for Australia.
32:37They have outclassed the Zimbabwe team in all departments of the game.
32:42Started off the proceeding by bowling well.
32:46Bowling tour plan.
32:47Bang on target.
32:49Bowlers were complimented by their fielders.
32:51And then a solid performance with the bat.
32:55And then a solid performance with the bat.
