00:00Carl Spackler and Raging Torrent are both set to begin their stud careers at Lanes End Farm in
00:062026. Bill Ferris said that their $15,000 price point, combined with their grade one winning track
00:12record, offers plenty of commercial appeal for breeders.
00:15Carl Spackler, to us, is a very interesting turf horse because he's by Luke DeVega, who's
00:31one of the top sires in Europe and an emerging sire of sires. Out of a more than ready mayor,
00:38gives him huge international appeal as well as American appeal as well. You know, one of Carl's
00:46best qualities was his consistency. He was a very, very good horse. I think he won six graded stakes,
00:53three grade ones. One of my favorite races of his was the Coolmore Turf Mile at Keeneland. He was
01:00dominant that day and really showed he had all the class in the field. It was a phenomenal effort
01:07in one of his many hundred plus buyer speed figure races. But here's the wire. Carl Spackler wins the
01:16Coolmore Turf Mile. Still letting down, but really a beautiful horse and one of the better looking
01:24sons of Luke DeVega that I've seen. We are not allergic to turf horses at Lanes End and we're
01:30excited with some of the young horses we have with Up to the Mark and More Than Looks and now Carl Spackler.
01:41Raging Torrent, you know, being out of the end of Mischief Sireline, very fast horse, great looking
01:46horse, a lot of substance to him. Interesting things that we always look for in a stallion prospect is
01:53his two-year-old form and he came out and won his first start, was maiden race at two, was a stakes
02:00performer at two, and then, you know, obviously went on to much bigger and better things as an older
02:06horse. Very accomplished miler, won the Metropolitan, which of course is everybody loves to call a stallion
02:14making race, and he did so beating Fierceness, who was one of the best horses of the generation.
02:19Raging Torrent's coming out party is in the Hillendale Metropolitan Handicap.
02:25The Malibu was an interesting race, you know, for us Flightline won the Malibu. We look at it as a
02:31real stallion making race and he beat Mystic Dan in that race and he went to Dubai and won the
02:36Godolphin Mile against a very good field. All his big wins were against quality fields. We're excited to
02:43see how he's received and so far it's been overwhelmingly positive. Both horses represent
02:50great value at 15,000 and we think they really fit a good niche for breeders and they'll be very popular
03:00commercially and we're just very we're supporting both of them with a lot of our mares and
03:07and can't wait to see what the babies look like.
