00:00Talk to me about the offensive philosophy potentially of Texas Tech in this round two
00:06game going up against a solid front seven in Oregon.
00:10Well, you know, it's going to be a little different.
00:12This is the most talented team they've played this year, and they're used to double-digit
00:16victories.
00:17I want to say almost every single win they've had have been double digits.
00:21I'm not sure what their comfort level is in a tight football game, and I think this will
00:25be a tight football game.
00:27But I think they have a team that's built for that.
00:30I think they can sustain, run the ball, run the ball, try to go over top, play great defense.
00:35I think this is going to be a tight football game.
00:37That's why the spread is so tight, and I think both teams have got to be comfortable running
00:42the football, doing as best they can with the running, because when they can get short yardage
00:47on third down or second down, or they do have a first down and they want to take a chance,
00:52go deep, get your deep ball, try to get some points out of something special there.
00:56But it's going to take patience.
00:58Dante Moore, better dual-threat quarterback.
01:01He didn't have to run even against James Madison, but I think if they allow him to be a little
01:05more fluid in his running game, mix that in with their passing attack, that could be a
01:10real advantage for Oregon.
01:11No, it really can.
01:13And they're going to have to contain David Bailey.
01:15I mentioned him at the start of the show, 13 and a half sacks.
01:19The transfer from Stanford is going to have to account for him at all times.
01:24If you're an Oregon offensive lineman, the offensive staff is going to have to get the
01:28football out early to really get that defense moving sideline to sideline.
01:33And potentially, coach, that could open up the rushing attack later in that matchup.
01:38I brought this up earlier.
01:40I want to get your take again.
01:42Are we giving any advantage to Oregon, being that they played a first-round game?
01:48They were able to maybe work out any type of kinks after the two- or three-week hiatus
01:53where there's now more pressure on Texas A&M to come right out of this gate and be hitting
01:59on all cylinders offensively and defensively?
02:03I think both coaches have to buy into their circumstances and get their kids into it.
02:08They have to feel like, hey, fellas, we haven't had that much time off.
02:11We're on a roll.
02:12Let's keep going.
02:13And remember, all those points JMU got was against not just second-teamers but third
02:18and fourth-teamers.
02:19They had pretty much pulled everyone a little too soon, couldn't get back into the game.
02:23So their starters are still playing very good football in that regard.
02:29But Texas Tech now, I like the fact that Joey McGuire has almost a month to prepare.
02:35As long as you get your kids work, don't overwork them.
02:38You've got a chance to really add some things.
02:41You can get seven to ten points early just by doing something different.
02:45We saw that earlier in the year in Louisville against Miami.
02:48We saw a coach had a week off, made some adjustments.
02:50I think you go out there.
02:52And so both sides can sell what they have.
02:54They're coming off a win.
02:56They're ready to play versus I've had a month to put something new in.
03:00So it's a chance.
03:01I think Texas Tech, better chance to have wrinkles if you're at Texas Tech.
03:05Absolutely.
03:06And we talk about turnovers being a critical part of potentially wins and losses in the college football playoff.
03:13Texas Tech, one of the best turnover margins in the nation at plus 17 entering this matchup.
03:19They're holding opposing offenses to only 68.8 rushing yards per game and 2.3 yards per carry.
03:27That potentially can be the difference in this matchup.
03:31Coach, we know the Big 12 potentially is not getting any love in this college football playoff.
03:37I like Texas Tech with the points early on here.
03:40How do you see this game playing out?
03:42I'm with you.
03:43I just think I've got Texas Tech winning this game outright.
03:47Again, it's almost a toss-up anyway.
03:49But as good as offense is for Oregon, and I give Oregon a little edge offense and quarterback,
03:54I think the big strength of the team is their defense at Texas Tech.
03:57It will dominate enough, and they hit one more explosive play than Oregon to get the win.
