Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky said a deal to end the war with Russia is close but warned key issues, including territory and security guarantees, remain unresolved.

00:00Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says his country is about 10% away from reaching a deal to end the war with Russia,
00:08but warns that the remaining issues are the most critical.
00:11He says any agreement must not reward Moscow for its aggression,
00:15and adds that the unresolved points will determine Ukraine's future security,
00:20as well as the prospects for lasting peace in Europe.
00:23In his New Year's Eve address, Zelensky said Ukraine wants the war to end,
00:28but not at the cost of its sovereignty or safety,
00:31adding that any peace settlement must include firm security guarantees to prevent Russia from launching another invasion.
00:38He also said the final 10% of negotiations would shape not only peace for Ukraine,
00:43but stability across the wider European continent.
00:46The comments come just hours after U.S. officials, including Envoy Steve Witkoff,
00:51held talks with Ukrainian and European security advisors.
00:54U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to end Europe's deadliest conflict since the Second World War
00:59have intensified in recent weeks, though both sides remain deeply divided.
