As Kuala Lumpur prepares for New Year’s Eve celebrations, some workers are on duty while most celebrate with family and friends.

From telco contractors and florists to baristas and delivery riders, many say working on the holiday is routine.

While missing the countdown is a sacrifice, some embrace it positively, citing extra pay, camaraderie, and the joy of serving others.

00:00As the capital gears up to welcome the New Year with fireworks and festivities,
00:08most people will be counting down with family and friends.
00:11But for some dedicated workers, New Year's Eve is just another day on the job.
00:16Many say it's routine in their line of work.
