00:45While thousands down south camped out and queued in Australia's most laid back city,
00:51it was as easy as rolling out a picnic blanket and enjoying the show.
00:55Just to be down here with all the families and stuff like that, it's great.

01:04But then a rumble from above and seconds later, some hardened locals choosing to tough it

01:41As light shows and fireworks lit up the sky, people were setting their sights on the future.
01:47I'm going to a new school next year and I'm hoping I make new friends.
01:52I graduated this year so it's like another new life.

02:45of a bright and memorable new chapter.
